Shadow and Red's Spark – Chapter 7: Leaving So Soon?

Coming to the internet is easy. Open your computer, connect to Wi-Fi, and start searching, playing, whatever people do these days. Comics, challenges, homeworks, studies, scams, the lot, all at your fingertips.

Leaving the internet is also easy. But leaving the PHYSICAL internet? Not at all. The ultimate life form, for one, was not happy with no way to leave. It just wasn't an acceptable standard. No matter what he tried, he couldn't seem to find a border to reach.

Silver's message had come through loud and clear, which made Vanellope feel slightly jealous about them, but she was still willing to help. Red was busy on another site trying to find something, as Shadow was trying to use one of the largest buildings there to get to the sky. Even with Chaos Control, it seemed impossible. And a little bit of explanation to the girl about what the sky was, was also due, especially since she kept confusing it for some 'streaming service'.

"What kind of place has no actual exits?" grumbled Shadow, after his twenty-first attempt.

Vanellope smirked a little and giggled, "Maybe you're looking at this the wrong way?" She motioned to the buildings down below. "Think about it, everything you could possibly want is down there."

"An exit?"

"Possibly." She shrugged.

"Don't be so cryptic and answer me." demanded Shadow.

"Hey, I'm only try'na help, you know. I had plans today."

"Hmph. Fine. I'm getting out one way or another."

Vanellope opened her mouth to speak, but her jaw hung in the air at seeing something behind Shadow's back. The dark hedgehog turned around and saw a helicopter, painted completely red, that seemed to have a beak attached to the front and a peachish underside. On it was Red, waving to them from the controls. He pushed some levers, and brought the helicopter just above the building. Slowly, it landed, the force of the blades pushing the girl away, meaning Shadow had to grab onto her hoodie.

"Hey there, guys! Look what I found!" exclaimed Red. "Oh right, the blades. HOLD ON!" he shouted. He was about to turn it off, when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He swivelled around on his seat, and after momentary shock, said, "About time, Shadow. And you too, Vanellope."

Shadow pointed to the sky. "Get us up there quickly."

"No problem! Here we go!"

And so, Shadow, Vanellope and Red flew up in the helicopter. As they grew closer, a grey light could be seen in the distance. "Faster." shouted Shadow, over the whir of the blades. They got closer and closer until the light was just above them. Vanellope saluted to them as she glitched off the plane, just at the exact moment when the object collided. There was an explosion, as the plane, somehow still intact, fell to the ground.

The candy girl reappeared on top of the building. She sighed and said, "Well, that was a weird day. Just wait until Admiral Underpants hears about this!" And with that she walked to the staircase, wondering what would happen to those two figures.
