Could you accept me like this?

Chloe didn't know how to respond,yes she was terrified but not of him,never of him but the whole situation. The fact that everything was real God,the Devil, heaven and Hell,there he stood the Devil looking back at her.

She had left and gone home feeling like she'd had her heart ripped out at the same time as she'd ripped out his,the look on his face when she couldn't say yes had hurt so much,she wanted to go back and tell him yes and kiss him like she'd never kissed anyone before but it was too late she'd walked away.

She went to work the next day feeling like crap and really just going through the motions. Part of her had hoped that he'd turn up but another part believed she'd never see him again. She'd betrayed him and used his feelings for her to do it,she's not sure she'd ever forgive herself so why should he forgive her.

Ella asked after him constantly which made her feel worse,while Dan almost danced a jig every time Lucifer wasn't there,she hated that she was the cause of it all.

Lucifer watched her leave, thankful that she never saw the tears in his eyes;he couldn't stand the fact that he'd led the Detective to this. He sat on the balcony weighing up his options,he thought of just returning to Hell and never coming back and while he wouldn't rule that out he didn't want to do it purely because it's what his father would want not to mention his siblings. So instead he sat and tried to drink his problems away although really he knew that unless she was there he'd never get drunk so he sat there and for the first time since before his fall he cried.

Over the next few days Lucifer spiralled,drink and drugs didn't help and he couldn't even begin to think about sex so he resorted to binge watching TV shows and eating take out food. He no longer went downstairs and also had a coded lock put in the elevator,now it no longer went to the penthouse without the code entry. He knew that Linda and Ella had been to visit but they'd been unable to get up to him and fortunately none of his siblings cared enough to visit.

The one thought that he just couldn't shake though was that if someone as good as Chloe couldn't accept him how could anyone else.

Chloe needed him not just at work but she needed him in her life in whichever way he'd allow considering what she'd done,she just didn't know how to go about it.

Then one morning at the precinct she was left with no choice but to go and see him,Dan walked in with a page printed off the internet.

"Read this Chloe,it's about damn time". He practically shouted in joy

The headline made her heart drop into her stomach

"LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR TO SELL POPULAR NIGHTCLUB LUX"

Chloe jumped up from her desk and ran out of the precinct without a second thought,she drove to Lux just barely refraining from using her siren. She pulled into the carpark and ran to the elevator just managing to keep the panic at bay. She pushed the button for the penthouse and nothing happened. Then she saw the key code device,she couldn't get up to the penthouse without the code.

She tried a few different combinations but nothing seemed to work so she just tried some random numbers and unsurprisingly they didn't work either and then she put in Trixie's birthday.

The elevator pinged into life and started moving.

Lucifer heard the elevator ping and come to a stop,he whirled around to see who it was when he saw Chloe step out looking upset.

"So that's it,you're just leaving, where are you going anyway?". She shouted

"What do you care Detective, you wanted me gone so I'm going,and if you really want to know then fine I'm returning to Hell,I don't anticipate ever returning to Earth". He told her

"Why? You said you hate it there so why go back?". She asked him although she was pretty sure she knew the answer.

"I'm giving you what you wanted,I'm going back, you can go and tell Kinley that I've gone for good". He said and walked away from her.

Then she saw it,the look of self hatred and sorrow, he was determined not because he wanted to go back but because he thought it was the only option.

"Please don't leave". She said quietly

He turned and looked at her properly for the first time since she'd arrived.

"I don't know what to do Chloe,you tried to poison me but now you're saying you want me to stay". He said confused.

"I'll regret that for the rest of my life Lucifer but I never really wanted you gone". She told him barely refraining from crying.

"I don't know why I did it Lucifer but I am so so sorry".she finished telling him

"You were in a vulnerable state Chloe,and Kinley took advantage of that and manipulated you". Lucifer answered for her.

"I'm a detective Lucifer so I should have seen through his lies but something stopped me, specifically my feelings for you". She started "I didn't know how to deal with my feelings so I pushed them away". She finished

"What feelings Chloe?". He asked her

"I love you Lucifer,I have for a long time". She told him with no hesitation.

He changed into his Devil form

"How can you possibly love this Chloe,I'm the Devil nothing will ever change that"

Chloe didn't hesitate,she stepped up to him,put her hands on his scared and burnt face and then she kissed him with an intensity that she had never felt for anyone before.

Lucifer was momentarily stunned but he was still Lucifer and put his arms around her and responded.

They separated and she smiled up at him

"Ask me again,the question you asked me last time we were here".she told him

He looked confused but asked her anyway.

"Could you accept me like this?". He asked her

"Yes". Was all she said before she started to kiss the Devil again.
