Chloe could feel the sun shining onto her face as she woke up but she couldn't feel Lucifer behind her,she could however hear him in the penthouse kitchen whistling as he made something for breakfast. She loved hearing him like this so carefree, she sat up in bed and reached for his shirt and got out of the bed and walked through to the kitchen.
"Morning Lucifer". She said as she walked up behind him and put her arms around him.
"Good morning darling, how are you feeling this morning?". He asked her
"Ummm a little sore if I'm honest". She admitted.
He turned and she saw him looking concerned.
"Chloe,I'm sorry if I hurt you. I never intended to do that". He looked crestfallen.
"Lucifer you didn't let me finish,I'm a little sore but pleasantly sore it means we had a really good evening". She said smiling.
They sat to eat their breakfast, the conversation was light and enjoyable and the food was very nice. One thing she had realised was that Lucifer was an amazing cook and he loved cooking for her and Trixie, although she wasn't there Trixie always asked her what Lucifer had cooked and then insisted he cook it for her to which he always obliged. Chloe smiled at the thought and Lucifer asked her about it.
"Well you'll be cooking this for Trixie's breakfast next time you stay with us". She said to him
"I'll be perfectly happy to do so as well Chloe but when will that be?". He asked her.
She put down her cutlery, took his hand and looked at him.
"Lucifer, you're welcome to stay with us anytime you want, you know that". She said with a soft tone in her voice.
He smiled but didn't say anything. He sometimes found it hard to believe that she wanted him to be with her as much as he wanted her to be with him.
"Why don't you leave some clothes at my place and then you can stay the night more often". She suggested it to him.
"That's a wonderful idea detective, perhaps you should leave some here as well and perhaps some things for the urchin as well". He said to her.
"Lucifer, you don't mind if Trixie stays here?". She questioned.
"Of course not". He said as though it wasn't even an issue.
She smiled and finished her breakfast then she got up and took her things to the kitchen before turning to him.
"I'm going to have a shower, are you washing up or are you going to join me?". She asked as she dropped the shirt to reveal her naked form. She ran laughing to the bathroom as she heard his chair slide across the floor.
After another couple of hours enjoying themselves they were in the car with Lucifer behind the wheel. Quite often on a Sunday when it was just the two of them they'd just go for a drive and relax in each other's company just enjoying being together and today was no exception.
She had realised even before they started dating that Lucifer preferred open spaces,it was the reason the penthouse was open with no doors, one day she'd ask him why but that was for another time. They took a turn that led up into the hills outside of LA and then turned up a dirty track.
"Lucifer, where are we going?". Curiosity finally getting the better of her.
As they drove up the dirt track, Chloe noticed the surrounding scenery change. The city lights faded behind them, replaced by the rolling hills and lush greenery of the countryside. Lucifer pulled into a small clearing, where a quaint cottage stood nestled among the trees.
"What is this place?" Chloe asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
"It's a little cabin I found a few years ago," Lucifer replied, stepping out of the car. "I come here sometimes to escape the city and relax."
Chloe followed Lucifer to the cabin, her heart filled with warmth. The cabin was small but cosy, with a rustic charm that she found incredibly appealing. Lucifer led her inside, where a crackling fire warmed the room.
"I made a fire," Lucifer said, taking a seat on the couch. "I thought we could spend the afternoon here."
Chloe smiled and joined him on the couch. As they sat together, watching the flames dance, Chloe felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over her. Lucifer to most people was the charming egotistical playboy but over the years Chloe had come to realise that all that was just posturing and this was the real Lucifer, loving, thoughtful and selfless. Yes he could at times be infuriating and there were times she thought she'd get a headache from all the eye rolling she did but it was moments like this that made it all worth it.
