A/N: I do not own Star Wars: Infinities

Chapter 6: The Battle of Minds

Dagobah. 3 ABY.

Once the lightning from Master Yoda stopped, Darth Vader lowered his hand and froze. Both he and Yoda were no longer within the jungle of Dagobah, but at a Tusken camp on Tatooine. Corpses of the sand people, including women and children, were lying around the settlement. All slaughtered, by a lightsaber.

"What?! What have you done?" the Sith asked in shock and rage.

"Entered your mind, I have." Yoda answered as Vader looked around. "Even more twisted are you here, than in the physical realm."

Darth Vader faced the old Jedi. "Your tricks will not save you, Jedi. I will destroy you" he boomed, approaching Yoda as he raised his lightsaber higher. He was about to strike Yoda when suddenly, the blueish spectre of Ben Kenobi appeared, blocking Vader's strike with his own lightsaber. Yoda continued to stand calmly as now instead of the Tusken village they were inside the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

"Very clever, elf" the Sith Lord snarled. "But it will take more than spectres to save you!"

Just then, Obi-Wan Kenobi managed to strike Vader in the shoulder, injuring him. The Sith Lord groaned in pain while Yoda continued to stand still, his back facing Vader.

"Spectres they may be, yet your spectres they are." he spoke. "Hurt you they can."

With rage, Darth Vader raised his lightsaber and swiftly sliced the spectre in half, causing the ghost of Kenobi to vanish. He looked at Yoda again.

"My life is pain, Jedi" Vader explained as he was closing in on the Jedi master. "It will take more than that to stop me…"

He was cut off when suddenly, a spectre of Mace Windu appeared from behind and cut Darth Vader down from head to toe, causing him to roar in pain.

The moment she entered the cave, young Leia Organa felt so much cold. Walking further into the cave, Leia heard a lightsaber ignited. Turning out, she gasped as she saw the figure of Darth Vader standing behind her. She was about to draw out a weapon out of weapon, but then mentally reprimanded herself for forgetting about leaving it outside. However, it was at moment she felt that whenever Darth Vader was nearby, she felt a cold presence, but this time she didn't.

It wasn't real. It was an illusion. Her fears.

So, when Darth Vader stroke her with his lightsaber, she felt nothing. She looked at the hallucination, and through the light of the blade, she suddenly saw an image of Darth Vader rising his weapon against Yoda. This time, Leia felt that this was happening really.

"Master Yoda!" Leia cried as she dashed for the exit, but then immediately heard the master's voice.

"No!" it said. "Go! Leave Dagobah! To the caves of Illum, go you must."

"But master…"

"Fear about me, must you not." Yoda assured her. "With the Force, I will be."

Leia stood, tears forming up on her eyes. She cannot lose her mentor. She wasn't a Jedi yet. With pain in her heart, Leia turned and began heading the other direction.

"May the Force be with you, master." she whispered as she ran. The girl then saw a small source of light. Approaching, she saw an exit covered by vines. Pushing them away, Leia left the cave when she suddenly heard a mechanical voice nearby.

"Freeze!"

Leia froze and looked to the left, cursing to herself. To the left, a squad of stormtroopers stood aiming their E-11 blasters at her.

"Put your hands up!" one of the stormtroopers ordered. "I said hands up!"

Suddenly, blaster shots were heard and Leia gasped as all of the stormtroopers fell onto the ground dead. She turned right and saw Han Solo in his navy blue jacket and Chewbacca, both armed with firearms, from which smoke came out.

"Leia! Are you okay?!" Han asked as he held his DL-44 heavy blaster pistol.

"Han!" Leia cried in joy as she leapt at him and hugged the Corellian tight. "You came back!"

"Of course, I did, princess." the smuggler chuckled, returning the hug. The remained in embrace for some time until Leia broke the hug.

"Han, we must go" she told him. "Master Yoda instructed me to go to Illum."

"I agree, the Empire is here." Han replied, with the Wookie roaring something. "Chewie says that apparently, a few more stormtroopers are heading this way."

Together, Leia, Han and Chewbacca raced back to the Millenium Falcon. Leia heard R2-D2 wailing in binary as he saw her. Leia smiled at the astromech droid while the males were launching the ship. Suddenly, Leia noticed that someone was absent.

"Where's Threepio?" she asked.

"Long story!" the Corellian yelled out from the cockpit. "But we had to leave him on Tatooine with Jabba. Apparently, it was he who brought the Empire to Dagobah."

Leia collapsed onto a nearby seat. During these months she already lost three; first Luke, then Yoda, and now C-3PO. All of them were so dear to her. She cannot bear it. She cannot lose Han and Chewie as well. Especially Han Solo. Wiping out her tears, Leia entered the cockpit and sat behind Han as the Falcon was finally in the orbit of Dagobah, preparing for hyperspace jump.

As Darth Vader collapsed onto the floor of the Jedi Temple when he was cut in the back by the spectre of Mace Windu, Yoda spoke. "Pain your life may have been filled with, yet of your own choosing, it was."

Darth Vader, using the remaining strength he had, rose and cut the spectre of Windu in half, causing it to vanish, just like the spectre of Obi-Wan Kenobi before. The agonising pain in his head caused the Sith Lord to take off his helmet and throw it away. He revealed the face of young Anakin Skywalker. Now, both he and Yoda were now within the remains of the Echo Base on Hoth.

"Wrong choices you have been making your entire life." the old Jedi continued. "Selfish and cruel you have been. Thinking never of others. Hiding from compassion. Hiding from the truth!"

"And what truth would that be?" Vader asked.

"That human, you are!" Yoda answered as the spectre of Qui-Gon Jinn appeared and attacked the Sith Lord. Igniting his lightsaber again, Darth Vader engaged in combat with the spectre, while Yoda approached a grave built on a snowy hilltop.

"Capable of love." Yoda continued. "Capable of making mistakes and learning from them. Fallible you are, yet denied this, you did. Seeing yourself only as better than others."

The spectre of Qui-Gon Jinn barely dodged one of Vader's strikes before striking him in the thigh, injuring the Sith Lord as he collapsed onto the snow. Qui-Gon, however, did not stop as he continued to hit Vader with his lightsaber.

"Even your search for you son wrapped in lies is it." the old Jedi spoke again. "Claim that for your Emperor you wish to find Luke. Denying your true feelings to be a father to your son!"

He then touched the metal plate of the grave. "Unfortunate, that you have wasted your life devoted to hate and lies. Hurt yourself and many others, you have." Vader, now defeated fully, collapsed onto the ground right beside him. "All this time, searching in vain you have been. Hunting the galaxy when all along your son lay buried in an icy grave. Too late, you are. Your son is dead."

"No." Darth Vader breathed out in disbelief and in a second, melted underneath his own cape. A greenish smoke came out of it. Approaching the cape, Master Yoda saw the 9-year-old Anakin Skywalker emerging out of it, sobbing.

"I'm… I'm scared" the boy choked out. Yoda then gently placed a hand on his head.

"No longer you need to be afraid." he assured him. Suddenly, the boy grabbed Yoda by his neck and looked up, revealing pitch black eyes.

"But YOU do!" the boy yelled in a demonic voice. In a moment, Yoda once again found himself on Dagobah and looked up. Before he could react, Yoda saw as Darth Vader cut the Jedi master with his crimson red lightsaber. Yelping in pain, Yoda fell onto the ground, blood spilling from the cut.

"You may have entered my mind, Jedi" Darth Vader boomed as he watched the elder suffering from the fatal injuries. "But so have I. And I now know your secret!"

Yoda only coughed in response, blood spitting out his mouth as he succumbed to his injuries. In a minute, he stopped breathing before he vanished in front of the Sith Lord, leaving only the robes and the cape lying on the muddy ground of Dagobah. Hearing the Millennium Falcon rising from the surface, Darth Vader looked up, seeing the ship leaving the atmosphere, and flying towards the stars.

Extinguishing his lightsaber, Darth Vader headed back for his shuttle.

Well, Yoda is now dead. Sorry. Please read and review.
