Catherine stepped inside from the garden, and heard commotion coming from the guest room upstairs. Henry was sitting by the fireplace, quietly reading.

"What's going on?" she asked.

Henry beckoned her to the bedroom.

"I'm doing this because I love you," Henry said, closing the door.

"What do you mean?" Catherine asked.

"Our houseguest is leaving tomorrow," he replied, lowering his voice.

"We weren't rude, I hope?" Catherine asked in alarm.

"No, but I found someone who was an old friend, who has invited him to his cottage by the seaside."

"Oh," Catherine said. "But I never complained."

Henry nodded.
