The large bathroom echoed like a cavern as he entered it carrying his uniform. He never liked to change in public he preferred to do in private, even as a child he did not want his mother to see him, especially after growing up an outsider teenager with some unusual features for a mammal. The first thing he did was set his uniform on the bench beside him and started to undress himself starting with his shirt and ending with his shoes. It was then that he was startled by a female giggle. He looked over and just inside the bathroom was Ally who was starting to take her shirt off. "Well, I have never seen shirtless Vorta before now I know what they look like" Steven blushed he covered up his chest with a towel "Yeah, you have, not much to look at I am afraid" She smiled as she took her shoes off. It's nothing to be ashamed of we are different in some ways, you just do not have nipples or a belly button. This put him at ease somewhat as he loosened it up and picked up his uniform. It was nothing special, a bare-bones and plain fitted gray jumpsuit-like design with a single-colored section across the top to indicate the division. In his case yellow is the color of the operations division. Allt looked over to him and said "What is your training specialty in ops?" He replied, "Um engineering" She smiled "That is great you have to be smart for that position I am command" Steven laughed "You might be my boss one day" "Well if we get through this I can be" Each uniform had two patches, one on the right arm and one on the left. The Left arm had the Starfleet logo with the word.

"Cadet" and the right arm had the name the uniform was assigned to, embordered into the fabric. He put them on the uniform and found it fit perfectly to his small frame he then knelt to put on his boots. "So, how does a Vorta end up in Starfleet?" "My mom was in Starfleet; I want to make her proud" "Ah I understand" He looked up at her "You do?" "Yeah, you are adopted no shame in it I was adopted too" "You from earth?" "Yeah, I'm from Pheonix" "Nice city there I am from San Fran myself; we probably have more in common than we do different" "Yeah, we might" He then finished lacing up his boots and started to put on his belt "So how did you wind up being adopted by a couple on earth?" "I don't know, not fully anyway, it is complicated"

"I don't like the way he is looking at me," Kirla said as she glanced at the Farak from the corner of her eye while she changed into her uniform. D' Tallaa took off his shirt and glanced around the room seeing Farak talking to Radal while looking over at Kirla "I think he is talking to the Cardassian, he is too quiet, too calm for a Klingon" Kirla nodded "Yeah it's like he trying to figure you out, he is a tactical cadet after all, what position are you interested in again?" The Romulan replied "Security" Kirla turned around to look at him D' Talla was very well built and very muscular, a very good-looking man and obviously in shape "Yeah, I would say you are fit for security, I am a scientist I hope to study Xenobiology" The Romulan looked at her and said "Interesting Bajoran interesting"

Farak gazed at the other side of the room and started to put on his uniform "The Bajoran woman is quite perplexing but remarkably interesting. She is quite determined and ready to get there as fast as she can, perhaps she is worried about her future" Radal started to put on his shirt, "It is probably because of the occupation and the war, a lot of dreadful things happened to the Bajorans wanting to live every day as it where your last is natural" Farak gave a slight smile "An excellent deduction my dear Watson, I always like to know as much about my allies as I do my enemies" Radal looked a bit nervous "Wha... what do you th.. think about the others" Farak gave a slight pause "Well D' Tallaa is a brute plain and simple, the Romulans have a reputation for being very clever and underhanded, but they have their share of brutes" "Ally is a human, and humans are easy to figure out, most of them are nice, smart but have a streak of brutality if they need too" He then paused "The Vorta... I do not know; I have never met a Vorta it may take some more time"

The door to the bathroom opened as Steven and Ally walked out Ally said "Alright Unit we have less than an hour until the meeting, no more dilly-dallying" D' Talla looked unimpressed "Why should we follow you human, what makes you the boss of me?" Ally smiled and said "Because I am in the command career path, it is part of my duty to make us come together as a unit" Farak was over in front of the mirror combing his goatee "Makes perfect sense, as it is meant to simulate a ship crew" D' Tallaa conceded and backed off "Whatever you say, captain"

The plaza of the campus was huge, ridiculously huge but today there was a lot of extra space in the large outdoor paved area surrounded by hedges on all sides in the middle of the campus. A small stage was constructed in the middle of the plaza with a small podium on top. Superintendent Strauss was sitting to the side in a chair with his cane sitting at his side leaning on his chair. Steven elbowed Ally "Hey can you see what pips he has" Ally squinted her eyes and saw a dark circle inside of a trapezoid pip on his black dress uniform. "I think... She had to pause "Commodore I think" D' Tallaa snarled as Kirla looked confused "What's so strange about that?" Farak chimed in "You see Commodore is the rank between Captain and Admiral, these days in Starfleet Commodore is often seen as a dead-end rank. When the higher-ups want to promote you but do not want you in the admiralty" Steven "Yeah that's more or less it, my mother used to say the same thing". It was then that a large imposing figure approached the podium, he was an Arboreal xindi known for their long elaborate facial hair and easy-going attitude. The man spoke in a deep commanding voice "My name is Commander Janar, however for the duration of your stay here you will refer to me as Commandant, cadets, is that clear?" The crowd went silent for a few seconds before replying "Yes Commandant" The Commandant smiled before saying "At ease cadets" He then went on to clear his throat "Cadets, today I am going to lay down some rules that you will follow for the rest of your time here. Firstly, this is not a prison, when not in class or doing an academic activity, you are free to go anywhere. Your only restriction is that you get to bed by 22:00 every night. Your uniform and your equipment are your responsibility, losing them will result in a demerit. You have been placed in a unit; this is your family at this academy. In addition to being tested individually, you will be tested as a unit; this will simulate how you will work in a Starfleet crew. While I know a lot of you are young people, there are rules against romantic or sexual entanglements within units. Today is Friday classes start on Monday; Chancellor Picard will be here Sunday to open the school year at 15:00. Until such time I suggest you get to know your unit, what are their hobbies, what is their family like, and what they think. Cadets, until then, you are dismissed"
