None of them could say for sure which of them ultimately killed Catherine Madison, but they could all say that they gave it their best damn shot when the crazy witch in her daughter's body showed up two days after Christmas and tried to kill Faith and with her, baby Gabrielle.
"Hi, I'm Amy Madison," Catherine said to the middle age woman who answered the door. "I'm looking for Faith, she's a classmate. I just needed to ask her something and thought since I was out and about anyway, I'd save myself a phone call and just stop and see her."
"She's in the living room with her friends." Diana answered. "I'll just let her know you're here."
"No need, I can find her myself." Catherine answered as she used Magic to blast the woman into a wall and knocked her out. She stepped passed her into the foyer. She didn't know the layout of the house, but it wasn't anything fancy. The foyer door opened into a hall with a staircase going to the second floor, the hall continuing passed it. On one side in front of it was a door that led to the living room, dining room and kitchen that opened onto the patio. On the other side of the hall was a door to the office. Passed the stairs was a door to a downstairs bathroom and passed it the laundry room. In the living room where the teens had been watching tv everyone heard the doorbell ring, followed by the sound of something smashing into the wall.
Xander turned toward the door, on alert. "Faith, stay back, something's wrong." A feeling.
If she hadn't been pregnant, Faith would have charged out in the hall without a second thought, but she was pregnant so she didn't hesitate in moving back behind the other three teenagers. Gabrielle's safety had to come first.
Cordelia moved into a guard position in front of Faith as her own feelings told her Faith was in danger and Xander and Jesse moved cautiously toward the door of the living room. They were all so focused on the door that none of them heard the faint groan the windows at the front of the living room made.
Amy Madison stood in the door from the hall.
"Amy?" Xander questioned. "Is something wrong?" His guts were screaming...something was very wrong. Amy lifted her hands and began to chant a spell.
'I shall look upon my enemy and the dark place shall have her soul!'
Yeah, no to that shit. The need for answers to questions took a very distant second to stopping whatever she was doing.
The windows groaned as Xander's eyes flashed green, startling Catherine as she hadn't suspected Xander of having power. As Xander jumped and flipped, Jesse grabbed a vase and threw it at her. Cordelia yanked the cord on the floor lamp out of the wall and held it like a staff. The vase hit Catherine's shoulder as Xander landed behind her and grabbed her, tossing her several feet, where she landed hard on the floor. "What's your problem, Amy?" He growled.
"That baby has to die!" She snarled, pushing herself up.
"Oh, Hell no!" Faith hissed, enraged. "What the Hell did my baby ever do to you?!"
"She's a threat to me, that's all I need to know!" The witch snarled back. The windows cracked as they groaned again. Catherine stood up. "If I have to kill you all, I will!" She swore.
"Amy -." Jesse attempt to reason was the insane woman wasn't well received.
"Catherine! I'm Catherine! I'm not that mewling brat!"
"I don't care who you say you are!" Xander growled. "You're not getting near Faith or the baby!" He leaped again and was blasted back by Catherine as Cordelia swung the lamp base into Amy's stomach. Catherine bent over trying to catch her breath and sent a blast passed Cordelia and just missed Faith as her Slayer reflexes had her moving and ducking behind the couch and the blast hitting the wall behind her, leaving a scorch mark.
Jesse looked around frantically for anything else he could use for a weapon as Xander kipped up and charged Catherine and rammed her back nearly to the windows which now looked like spiderwebs, they had so many cracks in them. The windows groaned and Xander realized they were bulging inward.
"Everyone down!" He yelled in Ancient Greek and Jesse and Cordelia hit the floor as Faith huddled closer to the floor behind the couch as the windows exploded inward sending glass blasting into the living room, most of it hitting Catherine.
Who stood there looking surprised as the glass hit her before she even realized there was a problem. She flopped back down on the floor as the others covered their heads, trying to shield themselves from flying glass. The roaring sound that accompanied the blast left their ears ringing, but fortunately it all passed within seconds and each cautiously raised their heads to see the damage.
The windows had exploded inward and glass shards were imbedded in Amy's back. Large, sharp shards.
"Diana!" Faith exclaimed and rushed toward the door as Cordelia tried to call her back. The remaining teens stood up and Jesse followed Faith as Cordelia took a few steps toward Xander who grabbed her and held tight.
They stared at Amy's body and the back of her shirt going red with blood. They backed toward the door of the living room, keeping their eyes on the body in horrified fascination and fear.
One very large chunk of glass was sticking out of her back right where her heart was, the surprised look on her face seemed frozen as her eyes shut and her body went limp.
