Brooklyn had woken up from his stone sleep but roared a little bit weakly hence him not having any sun shine into his cell in Hawkmoth's lair. He blinked, looking around, only to see the bars of his prison, and realized the nightmare from the night before hadn't been a dream. He was in a country far away from his clan, and Blaaze was in danger.
He got to his feet, glaring hard at the bars, running forward and trying to pull on them but he wound up getting zapped, making Brooklyn hiss in pain, collapsing to the floor. After rubbing his head, Brooklyn began hearing footsteps coming his way, shaking slightly at the idea of facing Hawkmoth again but he wouldn't show his fear, eyes narrowed when Hawkmoth finally showed, his usual cruel grin still on his lips. He tapped his staff against the bars, Brooklyn baring his teeth and scooting far back onto the bunk in his cell.
"I trust you're finding your living quarters adequate?" Hawkmoth purred, Brooklyn's hands clenching, his talons starting to poke into his palms. "This normally wouldn't be where I put my pets but since you've been most stubborn, this is a good start for you."
Brooklyn roared angrily, Hawkmoth loving the anger radiating off of his victim. "I'm not a pet, damnit!" He screeched, his wings out as much as possible. "Let me go! My clan needs me!"
However Hawkmoth kept his smirk, not deterred at all by Brooklyn's outburst. "Not anytime soon Firebird. Not if you want your precious Miraculous to not be hurt."
That threat made Brooklyn feel a heatwave of anger, doing his best to keep his cool, sitting down reluctantly on the bench. He knew he had to ensure his temper wasn't out of control since he could tell that Hawkmoth seemed to love anger and rage. "Why do you want to keep me when I'm not even wearing the Miraculous? I'm pretty much useless at this point."
The man stroked his staff before chuckling, having some plans. "You'll be much more than a pet, little Firebird. For you see, I have the power to give someone with the most negative emotion superpowers, or even turn them into a monster. With you already one, that would be a sight to see. It all has to do with my akumas." He explained, gesturing to some of the white moths flying around him, making Brooklyn feel nauseous from the thought. If Hawkmoth could easily control him like that just to attack innocent people...
"N-No, I-I won't let you do that to me!" Brooklyn croaked, his ears pinned back, hoping with all that he had that Goliath and his family were still searching, wondering how they would be able to get to Paris.
Hawkmoth simply chuckled, summoning a white moth, holding it in his hands which turned purple. "Perhaps half of a demonstration is in order, to show you not to cross your master."
The purple butterfly flew in, Brooklyn trying to find a way out in the prison but there was nowhere to run, his eyes round in fear as the akuma landed on his belt buckle, making him flinch, holding his head as a moth wing light symbol surrounded his eyes, now hearing Hawkmoth's voice right in his brain louder than ever.
"Hear me now, Demonslayer. I am Hawkmoth, your master. Should you ever want to escape or go against me, I shall turn you into the very name I picked out just for you and destroy the city."Hawkmoth's voice snarled, making Brooklyn wince again, before eventually nodding. "I-I understand... M-Master..." He croaked before eventually the akuma left him, the red gargoyle gasping in relief that he didn't turn into a monster.
Hawkmoth chuckled at seeing Brooklyn shaking lightly before speaking again. "That's a good gargoyle. Soon I shall bring you some food before you turn to stone again later. And if you behave, I might give you as a present to my son."
Brooklyn covered himself up with his wings around his shoulders, not wanting to speak at all as he nodded blankly, watching Hawkmoth leave while he chuckled, tears coming down his cheeks, wondering what his family was doing back at home right now.
...
Meanwhile back in his secret home in New York, Fu had been sensing that something was wrong one night, not having seen any news about the famous Firebird as of late, Wayzz floated nearby, a look of worry on his face. "Master, I'm afraid that something horrible had happened to Blaaze and Brooklyn. They haven't been showing themselves for over three days now." He said.
Fu nods, standing up and leaning on his cane, knowing what he had to do. "Yes. I keep thinking now that Hawkmoth has something to do with this. Why he wants the Phoenix Miraculous I don't know. But we should try to find Firebird's family. If he is a gargoyle there must be more like him."
Eventually Fu packs up a few of his things, making sure Wayzz was hidden while walking out, calling a taxi to take him to the police station, wondering if one of the police there knew about the gargoyles.
After the taxi had them arrive at the building, Fu was about to walk inside when he stumbles on the stairs, letting out a cry until he felt someone lift him back up which happened to be Elisa. "Easy there, I've got you." She said gently, Fu giving her a look of thanks. "What are you doing here?"
Fu looks down, then whispers to her. "I am in need of your assistance, but with not many other people around. Can we find some place inside where we can talk?"
Elisa raised her brow at the strange Chinese looking man but accepted, guiding him into the police station and requesting an empty room. The two sat down in the room where Elisa speaks up again. "So, what is this thing you had to ask me privately about?"
Fu clears his throat until soon unveiling his knowledge about the gargoyles. "I might know something about your friends with wings. The one with the beak saved my life a few days ago."
The detective stared in surprise, finding it hard to believe this man but had him continue. "I gave him a special Miraculous jewel for the Phoenix. And I'm afraid that being in his superhero form had led him into trouble." Elisa recalled Brooklyn's anger at Angela that time ago, and how she had a hard time getting info out of Radar of where they took Brooklyn.
"Where do you think they've taken Brooklyn?" Elisa asked in worry now that she found out it was the red male who had gained the 'Miraculous'. Fu frowned, sensing that he wasn't in this country anymore. "I'm having a feeling, that he is not in the States any longer. If there's a way I can meet his family, we can all track down Firebird together."
Elisa felt hope arise in her veins as she eventually nods. Even though she knew nothing about Fu, something in his eyes told her she could trust him, holding out her hand as the two shook on it. "Very well. We'll have to meet up with someone who has good tracking equipment. And Brooklyn will return home to his clan."
Fu smiles, glad the detective was willing to give him a chance, and now Brooklyn with Blaaze could have a bigger chance of being rescued.
