One Simple World
Chapter 15: Preparations Made Simple
Angel's Point of View: (Asleep)
I was startled to see myself land in my home. It was confusing to see, the version of me I was currently in hadn't seen this home in almost five years, and it still looked just the way I left it when I passed in my old life. Still just as beautiful, still just as lively.
It felt like we were starting over...
But things were different that time. The house was livelier in my sleep as I saw the spirits attached to me. Not only was it our parents like in the past, but we had Papyrus, Toriel and Undyne who had joined us as well since their recent deaths at Chara's hands.
"It's so strange to be back here... and it's as if nothing we'd done before has happened..." Papyrus commented softly as he looked over the kitchen and dining room we'd spent many nights and days cooking together in.
"I know... it feels... really strange..." I shook my head softly as I saw the same look on many of the faces as I walked through. My parents always loved to sit at the dining room table together, Windings included since he loved the sun on his bones. Undyne leaned against the counter with a scowl on her face. She looked young again. And Toriel... she was so distraught as she sobbed at the kitchen sink.
"I didn't know!" Her sobs were loud as she struggled to hold herself up. "My daughters... they're stuck together fighting... And Chara... I never knew how tormented she was... How could I have been so blind?!"
"This is one of the few things you can't take fault for, Toriel." Windings commented from the table. His sockets narrowed while leaning onto his hands. "Chara's demons were always difficult, and without the knowledge of the other timeline, we would have never known. It's impossible for her to not know of Silke's defeat and her biological parents from before. So that means she is still pushing forwardon the idea of either she has to do this herself, she doesn't believe that it's true, or she doesn't wish to wait twenty years for her to die again. Any of them are plausiblepossibilities."
"Tori, Frisk was still tryin' to fight for control." Undyne commented softly. A dark chuckle left her while her eye glowed a bright green color. "She even was willin' to diein order to make sure that girl couldn't hurt anyone else... I failed my queen... and she still has to suffer through more deaths..."
"We can keep saying how sorry we are plenty of times, but it won't do anything." Clenching my fists, I look at the sad six faces around me. "What we need is ideas and suggestions on how to beat Chara. I'd like other ones besides the obvious one... killing her and Frisk."
"Even if Frisk is willing to do that herself?" It was my mother who said the comment softly. "Angel... I know it's nothing you want to do, none of us wish that on anyone. She's our beloveddaughter and I wish we could take that away from you... but we can't... we're dead. And while you can summon us, your strongest magic is being merged with Sans. She remembers being the queen of the monster people, sweetheart... She cared for them for years, she still has the mindset of a queen that she conditioned herself too. Even if that means she doesn't get her happy ending and others do..."
"That brat has already killed plenty. And she isn't done." My father grunted from his own spot by Wingdings. "If Frisk is for it... consider her feelings... especially since it's her hands that have killed so many. Most of them are friends and family you two cared about for your entire lives..."
"... I know..."
I just didn't want to do it...
"If you don't want to do it Angel... we can if you summon us. We have no limitations now, and there's more of us." Papyrus smiled sadly to us with a heartbrokenlook to his skull. "While... I can't say that I could do it, I could at least provide healing magic to keep you well while you keep the others present."
"I'll... keep that in mind, Papy..."
"We'll be here for you no matter what... but keep in mind of Frisk's feeling too..." My mother tried to sooth me while I stood there numbly. "Don't let your mind revert to when you were young. You were the head of a nation... you know what sacrifices are needed. Even... even if it means taking out those you love. And clearly she knows that too..."
"Hold it." My father's voice led all of us to stop while his eyes glowed brighter. "No way in fucking hell. Guard Angel's soul."
"Dad?" I blinked at him, startled by his aggressive behaviorsuddenly. "What do you sense?"
"Fuckin Tincan, looks like she's dead too and tried to merge with you, and no way in fuck I'm letting that happen."
"She died? Mettaton did?" I was actually surprised to hear that. "And she tried to merge with me? Why?"
"Don't care. She can go to hell."
"There must have been a reason for it. We'll check on that, sweetheart." My mother's eyes glowed then and she stilled in my dream as well. My father left as well, leaving me with a few behind.
"I can translate what is being said, bear with me..." Wingdingsgot up from his spot to approach me. "Hmm... it would seem she met her fate with Chara as well. And it seemed that Frisk is really trying to hold back her abilities and knowledgeso that Chara can die. It seemed Mettaton almost did it... but Frisk's magic is holding her in place unfortunately. She's struggling in her younger body to keep her magic from protecting her... Oh? And there are the mountainsof swears. My goodness, it astoundsme that she was able to help give me a grandson... Besides looks, our dear Impact had none of her in him."
"Focus dork." Undyne kicked off the counter, snarling at Wingdings. "What else is going on?"
"Hm? Oh yes, sorry. It would seem that Mettaton saw the two of them heading through Hotland and getting to the edge of the capitol. She's gaining ground quickly. If anyone is going to face her, it will need to be soon."
"Okay... I'll talk to Sans and Asgore." With a deep sigh, I blinked slowly before looking at the front door. "I'm assuming that's my exit as normal?"
"Y-yes..." Toriel spoke up before she slowly stepped over to me. "Good luck Angel... and please... give my apologies to my son and my husband... I know this has already been settled before... but this new topic..."
"I know Tori. I'll do my best." Looking back to the others. I hugged them quickly. "I need to go, but please keep Mettaton at bay. I'd really rather not have her attached to me."
"We will." Not giving me anymore time, Wingdings let me to the front door that slammed open and nearly shoved me out. "Now go!"
It was hard to retain my scream as I fell endlessly until my body shot awake.
Awake:
Shooting awake, I screamed as I sat up in bed, breathing heavily as I was no longer with the others. I groaned loudly from what happened before I looked before me to see the multiple white and red souls before me, keeping another white one at bay while it broke into pieces.
I narrowed my eyes and my chains doubled around my soul. "Go on Mettaton, I will not have you merge with me. Shoo."
The soul kept trying to merge with me while the others protected me. We watched as the soul slowly began to fall apart until the scattered pieces were entirely gone. Seeing she was gone, I sighed, relaxed back into the sheets until I could breath normally. Once I was calmed down, I looked to the right to see Sans watching on in tired fascination. He was laid out beside me, his head leaning into his hand while watching on.
"Wanna update me, Precious?"
"Mettaton died to Chara, and Frisk has been trying to stop her by handicapping her, but still Chara is succeeding... she's on her way to the outskirts of the capitol now."
"Welp... fuck..." With a sigh, he rolled over and leaned on his back. "What ya wanna do then?"
"The others have already told me that Frisk is willing to die..." I couldn't help but scoot closer, leaning againsthim for comfort. "Undyne... she tried to kill Frisk to save her... Frisk..."
I felt sick as I curled into him, hiding my face in his jacket. "She remembers being the queen... she's thinking of everyone else over herself."
"Heh... sounds like our Frisky..." An arm wrapped around myself, holding me close while I sorted out my feelings. "Don't like it either Precious. But... we gotta think like our old selves too... Like the house members we were. If Frisk has gotta die to keep everyone safe... I don't like it... I don't want it... that's our mighty terror..."
Even Sans was getting emotional as we hung together onto each other. We became a horrible mess on the bed while wallowed together. We were suffering together at the fact our family was dying. Our precious siblings were dead or going to be dead soon, and there was no way to stop this monstrous timeline without something of a miracle.
A miraclethat wouldn't come this time...
Third Person Point of View:
Asriel watched from outside the room of Angel and Sans, watching them cry at the happenings of everything. Their sorrow for Frisk and those she's been forced to kill. The decision she came to in order to stop Chara... Asriel knew he wouldn't be enough to stop her. He'd only prolongher quest. She was determined. He knew how harsh the bite of her hatred was. Asriel was probably one of the only people who would.
It was painful over the course of the last few days as he roamed around the castle he grew up with. The memories came back to him as soon as that soul Angel made for him latched on. He was a person again, and he could feel himself becoming more normal. Much like his last life, it took a while for him to feel like it was real. For him to realize that he was a person again instead of a flower that had no feelings... for him to know he wasn't going to be like that again...
But then... other memories hit. The relationship he had with Frisk in his previous life. He respected her, he loved her. She was his queen that he foughtfor years for. Saving him from a psychoticteen who only wanted her as a prize and access to the Terians family. Helping her build back up her confidence, helping to show her the monster people adored her and would fight for her. It was a long process, but in the end, she was one of the best queens the monster people could have ever had. Asriel couldn't have been prouder of her.
But in those moments, the guilt set into his soul how he couldn't save her that time... at least, he had no idea if he could. From what Angel and Sans were saying, Frisk had almost in a way... given up. Not in a way to Chara... but to her own life. Removing her soul from Chara would make his sister much weaker. She wouldn't have the strength she was currently building up from the two of them combined.
It killed him that it was the choice she made... he couldn't help his wife that time.
Knowing that, Asriel made his way back to the throne room where his father and some of the guards still resided. His father had already sent out most of the jury to help in the evacuation of those still alive with Chara fast approachinginto the tunnels and secret passagesbelow. Well, as many as were left. Grillby was gone, and Angel along with Sans were certainlyout until their emotions were settled. They didn't have a lot of time, but they needed some for Angel and Sans to be ready.
It was going to have to be the two of them who took Chara out. They were bound by their souls together, they were the strongest of anyone in the underground. And they were about the only ones who could handle Chara. Asriel knew that it killed Angel. The little girl she fought so hard to protect and see live in the previouslife and this one again, only to have that life ripped away from them? For what? One little difference?
All it was that they didn't land together in the ruins... that was all it took...
"Asriel?" The younger goat monster lifted his head from his deep thoughts to see his father sitting at the throne. Carefully the young man walked to his father's side and stared at him with dead eyes.
"Hi Dad... Sorry..."
"You have nothing to apologize for, son." A large paw-like hand came over his head, rubbing him affectionately. "I can only imagine the feelings swimming in your heart. Possibly very similar to my own. Your wife has been taken from you and no hope to save her... Even if Toriel and I struggled a lot in our previous life... we made it work at least for you and our grandchildren... You understood our struggles with time... But this time around... we don't even get the chance. I'm thankful that I have memories of my past life... but this? It's horrid... A life that none of us wished for..."
"I know..." With deep breath, I gently pushed his hand off my head, but instead held his hand in mine. "I'm trying to think of all my memories, even the time when Chara and I were merged together. Something that may help... but I can't figure out anything... And I'm sure Frisk showed her memories to Chara to try and stop her. Show her that we defeated Silke before... but Chara was always headstrong. She always moved as if she wore goggles, like she didn't want to see anything except what she wanted, or could see... And she wanted to be the one to end that line. It was her dying wish... besides me living..."
"Son... she truly felt that way?"
"Yeah..."
"My king, my prince- or I should say, also my king."
Before us came in two of the royal guard at the ready. Second in command Vince, along with third in command Sampson. During the chaos, Vinnie searched out for Sampson to help him remember the past and come past what he'd faced before. Both stood in their armor before us, helmets removed.
"We saw that the ghost that has possessedourqueen has gotten to the edge of the capitol. It won't be long before she arrives." Sampson was the one to speak softly to us. "We would like to request the ability to face her and see if I can use my abilities to help break the control, or at least help her majestyto break away from her possessed body."
Before my father could say a word, I stepped forward. Releasing his hand and standing firm with eyes blazing down at them. "You understand that this is a suicide mission you're requesting us to allow you on, yes? Chara will kill all that stand in her way, and already CaptainUndyne has been slain along with many other guards, and even Mettaton, a robot built to kill humans, and Jury Member Green. She's quite capable and with every kill she gains more strength."
"That is precisely why we want to go in." Vinnie commented next with a salute that never wavered. "We know we'll die. We're not afraid to. This woman helped us immensely in our precious life and gave us all a chance, Angel just as much. The two of them have always been dear to us and will be in each and every time line that we have to repeat this. Our only goal is to help Queen Frisk escape. By any means necessary. If that means her soul is detached and she passes, so be it. If it means by some miracleshe can take control of her body again until she can get help from perhaps Angel or someone else to get them apart, we'd be more than okay with that. Even if we can only make a small break in the bond the two of them are forced together by, we will accept that as long as it's in favor of our queen."
"We also know she will be trying to kill us for our souls." Sampson continued on. Before more words could be said, Sampson removed his armor to show a strange device that was attached to the front of his chest. Both current and future kings watched almost in horror as it sat right where their soul would be with metal curled prongs cutting into their chests. "We spoke to Dr. Chordatta before this all began and she created these crude devices. In the event we are killed, they are directly attached to our souls... and will explode upon our bodies fading so she doesn't have the chance to reach our souls."
"I see you've thought about this..." My father sighed. His head bowed in his frustration before nodding slowly. "I'm not for the idea, but we are running out of options until Angel and Sans are prepared to facethis. Even I am not under the illusion that any of us can face Chara other than her with my dear Frisk still attached... And with too little time to act... go ahead."
Bowing my head to them, I tried to hold back my tears. "Thank you, Vinnie... Sampson..."
The two of them saluted again, before stepping away. Not another word said as the door to the chamber was closedand we were left alone. Two more people would be lost soon... but... perhaps we'd have a leg up against her?
Because Chara was the only enemy there, and she was the real monster compared to anyone...
Witch's Note:
Well I'm glad that everyone seemed to take quite the joy out of Mettaton's death. Rightfully deserved I will say. Such a reaction! It was nice to see so many of you band together as you drove into the depths of our base and proceeded to finalize what was demanded. Here you be, and further on we go, deeper into the Underground as we get closer and closer to the end.
A plan has been formed to try and assist the dear friend we know and love, the queen of the monster kingdom. But will their plan work? Or will this be for nothing?
You will only know, if you tune in next time!
But let's move over to some reviews!
Thechaosmaster: I almost made that idea of your true. What an idea that would have been for Hapstablook to be merged with Chara and Frisk. What a horror that would be! XD But we see here that even Angel wouldn't allow that to happened, nor the souls attached to herself. And even Chara didn't want her. If that didn't tell you something, I don't know what would!
But yes, the chapters are getting closer and closer to an end. Only five left! By the mid of next month… this story will end, and our finale is coming.
Shadow8Phantom: It is rather ironic that the two had a similar fate in death. Who knows if it was purposeful? XD Its highly possible, or it may have been a reaction.
Yet, here comes more as a plan is made to try and save Frisk, even if she doesn't return to a true form. But will it work?
MysticBoywastaken: I'm glad you enjoyed that of the death of Mettaton, no longer shall you see her, so enjoy this. If we ever see her again, a similar mistake shall not be made twice, or thrice.
midnightwreken: Lovely to see you again! Hope your enjoying the story! We're getting down there with few chapters left! It won't be long now!
I hope everyone had a lovely new year as we are now into 2025! Lots of plans are on the board for Mystic Girl and I. Including our final story that we'll be able to talk about soon! Just a few more chapters and then all will be revealed! I really hope all of you have been enjoying this and I hope you enjoy the next chapter as well as the previous!
Things are beginning to change…
Love you all and see you next week!
