Those Obnoxious Ghosts
Chapter 25: Freezing Tensions
"Fight me..."Oyuki ordered.
"What?!..."Danny went, shocked by what was happening here.
His friends were equally surprised by this development, evident by how they glanced at each other. It took seconds before he could speak again.
"Uh...sorry. What did you just say?..."Danny asked while the alien girl sent him a serious look.
Her servants were stunned while their queen spoke again.
"Did I stutter? Face me to see if you are worthy!..."Oyuki said, more like a demand.
This made the ghost boy even more confused now.
"Worthy? Worthy of what?..." Danny asked, while the alien girl kept no expression on her face...though he almost saw a small smirk appear for only a second.
"You will see..." Oyuki said, hiding what she intended with him.
All the while, Danny wondered how things turned out like this. He was now challenged by an alien queen, something he thought would only happen in movies. Before he could ask the queen of Neptune what she meant, Sam suddenly got in between them.
"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Hold tight there, Ice Princess..."The goth girl said.
"I am a queen, not a princess..."Oyuki said, no expression on her face.
"Whatever. Danny shouldn't be forced to fight you like this..." Sam said harshly.
Oyuki's servants got angry at her and called her out.
"How dare you interfere?! Challenges from the queen must always be accepted or declined by whom she challenges!..."One of them said.
"Hey, Danny here was nearly crushed by that hairy friend of hers! Pardon me if I don't agree with how it works!..." Sam argued.
Danny nervously laughed at this. He then turned to Oyuki again, hoping to reason with her.
"Any chance we can just go home? I do want to get out of here before my curfew..."Danny tried to reason with her.
However, Oyuki still wanted to fight him and quickly came up with an idea.
"It's clear that you and your sister want us to remove the snow that we dumped in the basement of your home. However, my people and I require someplace to dispose of all our ever-expanding snow. Meaning that we are at an impasse and when my people are in an impasse, there is only one way to resolve this. And that is with a battle..."Oyuki said, in an overly dramatic tone.
"Is this really necessary?..." Danny asked, feeling like there was some hidden trick to this dramatic setup for a fight.
"It is. I do believe it's the only way we can reach a fair compromise here..."Oyuki said.
Sam got mad again.
"Now see here, I-..."The goth girl was silenced when Oyuki's servants blocked her and even held ice spears of all things to intimidate her.
"Interfering is a crime punishable by imprisonment or eternal servitude. So, I highly recommend that you mind what you say and do..."Oyuki said while Sam got mad again.
"Hey, you can't just-..."She was cut off when Danny stopped her.
"If I win, you guys will get rid of the snow, stop using my house as a dumpster, and let us go home?..."The ghost boy asked.
Oyuki nodded.
"I swear on my honor as the queen of Neptune that should you prove your strength to me, I shall keep my promise and not trouble you with the snow again..."She said in a stern tone.
"Fine..." Danny said, shocking his friends.
"Danny?!..." Sam asked, sounding surprised now.
"You sure about this, Little brother?..."Jazz asked.
"I already fought her pet snow monster. I don't think that she will be as much trouble as him..."Danny said, seeing no point in refusing if it meant his house would be back to normal soon.
Sam wanted to argue but Danny made his choice as he approached the alien queen, who still had no expression on her face. Or so it seems.
"You just better keep your promise..."Danny said sternly.
All the while, Oyuki sent him a slight smile.
"I promise, should you prove yourself, I shall give you everything you deserve..."She said, hinting she had more in mind.
The way she phrased that made Danny curious, to say the least.
"So... what if you win?..."He asked, now wondering if he thought this through.
"...let's just say it'd be a win-win..." Oyuki said before gesturing for him to follow. "Come... let's do this inside..."She ordered.
Danny raised an eyebrow as he followed.
"...a win-win? What does she mean by that?..." He asked under his breath.
It came to the surprise of no one that none of the members of Team Phantom were all that trusting of Oyuki's vague words, but they all had little choice since they were in her kingdom with no other way back home.
So, the ghost boy had no choice but to accept the duel, unaware of what was in store now.
Inside
In another room of the palace
Danny found himself in what looked like a dojo, where the battle with the queen of Neptune would soon take place.
"Why are we in here?..."The ghost boy asked as he looked around.
"Forgive me... but I find it will be easier without my insulation..." Oyuki said as she began walking into the room.
Instead of her fancy kimono from earlier, Oyuki was now wearing some kind of armor. She was wearing what looked like a suit that was also made of ice but with a noticeable darker blue coloring instead. As well as some additional padding on her shoulders, elbows, and knee for added protection, as well as boots, and even look high-tech in a sort of way.
Danny saw her armor for a moment and was curious.
"Huh? It looks like something from some sci-fi movie..."The ghost boy thought before snapping out of it.
"New outfit?..."Danny quipped.
"Just a slightly altered version of the Neptunian royal armor. Usually used for certain ceremonies or special duals..."Oyuki answered.
"Special duels?..."Danny wondered what that meant, while his team was observing Oyuki's new outfit.
"What's with that outfit?..." Sam criticized, wondering how it would benefit her in the fight.
"Maybe it's for extra durability and makes room for more flexibility? Or to just look cool.." Jazz hypothesized.
"Who cares what it's for? She looks hot!..."Tucker said in excitement, only to get glares from both Sam and Jazz.
Danny watched as Oyuki turned to him.
"It is time..."She said, and while mostly emotionless, the ghost boy couldn't help but notice the strange way she said that.
"Are you... looking forward to this?..." Danny asked.
"Somewhat. I have a feeling this will be very interesting..." She responded, with an almost flirty way in her tone.
The ghost boy was surprised by it.
"Is her plan to distract me from fighting? Because it's kind of working. NO! I can't let her do that!..." He thought before shaking his head.
"Come, Phantom. Come show me what you're capable of if you want a chance at winning..." She gestures.
The half-ghost boy then cleared his head of all distractions and focused on this dual. He sent a serious look to the queen before he responded.
"If you insist..." Danny flew in.
He started this fight off by firing ghost rays straight at the ruler of Neptune, only for his blasts to get stopped by her creating an ice wall to protect herself.
"Hmm... the first move and it was wasted..." Oyuki nonchalantly spoke.
"Let's see if you think this is wasted!..." Danny flew in, intending to throw a punch fueled by some ecto-energy.
He breaks through the ice, only to see Oyuki already out of the way.
"Hmm...brave..."He heard her say, looking up to see her standing on top of the icy barrier she made.
"Whoa..."Danny went.
Oyuki cracked a small smile.
"Hmm... he may do, after all..." She said under her breath before leaping off.
She aimed her hand at him, creating a blue light that released a large chunk of ice meant to crush him. She landed, seeing no sign of him. She sighed in disappointment.
"And I had such high hopes for this one..." She said to herself before suddenly being tackled off the ground.
"Well, let's see if your hopes are as high as this!..." Danny smiled as he lifted her into the air before hanging her by the ankle.
Oyuki looked up at him, pupils beginning to dilate.
"Seems you have more fight in you than I thought..." She said.
"Yup... and now..." Danny fired two beams of cold from his eyes, freezing her in place.
He carried her out, showing everyone the seemingly defeated queen. While his sister and Sam were relieved, Tucker looked awestruck at the armor Oyuki was wearing reminded him of the sci-fi movies that he loved.
"Ooh..." Tucker eyed what Oyuki looked like before Jazz glared at him.
"Tucker! Focus!..."She said while the tech-geek looked confused.
"What?..."Tucker asked, not getting it.
"In case you forgot, there is a thing called time and place..."Jazz snarked, while Tucker glared at her.
Danny landed, gently placing the frozen queen on the ground before using intangibility to bury her in the snow.
"Looks like I'm the WIN-ter..."He said before he noticed his friends and sister sending him flat looks.
"Seriously?..."Sam said, not impressed.
"...I regret nothing..." Danny defended himself as Jazz rolled her eyes.
"Now I know who got Dad's sense of humor..." Jazz snarked.
"Like your one to talk, Miss Ghost Getters..." Danny snarked back.
However, to his surprise, he saw Oyuki's servants suddenly run away as if they were worried about something.
"Uh...what's going on?..."Tucker asked, having a bad feeling about this.
He soon got his answer as the ground shook and Oyuki appeared again. She was now freed and sending a challenging look at the ghost boy.
"Impressive, but not enough..."Oyuki said in a coy tone.
Danny frowned.
"How did you do that?..."He asked.
"You probably thought that due to my appearance and manners, I wasn't what you consider tough. But I'm most likely to be one of the most powerful warriors you will ever meet..."Oyuki said, her expressionless face never changing.
Danny rolled his eyes.
"Most enemies I deal with say basically the same thing before I kick their butts. I doubt you'll be any different..."Danny said as he sent her a glare.
"Is that so? Well, let's see how long that confidence of yours lasts..."Oyuki said, now finding this challenge a little more exciting.
Not that she'd admit it or show said excitement visibly.
The queen of Neptune then decided to show this boy from Earth some of her power, just to get her point across.
"Allow me to demonstrate what I am capable of..."Oyuki said as she began to summon more snow and ice in an attempt to freeze the ghost boy like she does with all of her challengers.
However, to her surprise, Danny seemed unaffected thanks to his intangibility, though he did seem mildly curious about her powers but chose to respond with witty banter like he always does in fights.
"Nice trick. Do you do birthday parties too?..."He quipped before he landed on the ground again.
Oyuki frowned, huffing a bit.
"Funny, now let's see how you can handle this..."She said as she fired more ice blasts at him.
Danny responded by using his ecto-blasts to shatter them. Oyuki kept trying to freeze him, but Danny's invisibility and intangibility helped him avoid her, making the snow queen a bit frustrated.
Oyuki's head maid saw this and was stunned.
"Unbelievable. No one has ever lasted this long in a battle against Oyuki. Normally, her enemies or whoever is stupid enough to tick her off would be frozen solid by now. This boy is certainly unusual..."The old lady commented.
She also noticed the uncharacteristic smile on her queen, starting to determine what it meant.
"She's having a lot more fun with this than she would admit..."She thought as she continued to observe the battle.
The inside of the palace suddenly felt a little colder than it did outside. Jazz, Sam, and Tucker started shivering from the new freezing temperature despite wearing winter clothes made by the citizens of Neptune.
Even a certain queen couldn't help but notice it during the battle, especially after a certain ghost boy managed to temporarily trap her in ice again.
"...Maybe I should've kept my thermal kimono on. Danny's ice is much colder than I anticipated..."Oyuki thought while momentarily trapped within the block of ice.
Cracks began to form around the block of ice that seemingly had Oyuki contained was blowing out cold air. Once Oyuki freed herself from her icy containment, and due to the rare excitement she felt in this battle, Oyuki allowed herself to cut loose and summoned a wild blizzard that almost destroyed the palace from within.
Thankfully, Oyuki then realized that her castle couldn't handle much more of her full power and decided to stop the palace from crumbling any further around them. Once she stopped the blizzard onslaught, Oyuki looked at the area to see how badly she damaged her palace.
Needless to say, the entire room with covered in solid ice, snow, hail, and a cold mist from top to bottom. Some snow girls were frozen in blocks of ice, even the elderly head maid.
"Looks like I went a little overboard. I wonder how much worse my opponent and those humans faired against it?..."Oyuki wondered out loud as she tried to look for them through the icy mist.
However, what the queen of Neptune saw next shocked her. Once the mist cleared, Oyuki saw the half-ghost boy not trapped in a block of ice but simply covered in frost. And the humans weren't even covered in snow, since Danny had protested them with a glowing green dome.
"That was a close call..." Danny muttered, relieved that he managed to act fast enough to protect his sister and friends from that sudden blizzard attack.
Oyuki was surprised, having not expected this.
"Not only is he powerful, he's adaptable and clever..."She thought, slightly impressed.
She admired this, while Danny noticed all of Oyuki's servants were still frozen in ice.
"Uhh...I think that we went a little overboard..."Danny said.
"Oh, my apologies. I was starting to have too much fun..."Oyuki said as she pulled out one of her gadgets and pressed some buttons.
Soon, the ice surrounding her servants melted and they were soon freed. However, they were still shivering.
"Impeccable timing, my queen..."One servant said, glad to finally be freed from the accidental icy entrapment.
"I have not seen you last this long against a foe before, my queen..."The head maid said as she rubbed her arms to keep warm.
"Indeed..." Oyuki nodded before noticing some of the ice pierced the walls.
"Oh dear..."
Due to Oyuki's powers making the area unstable, most of the people who saw the fight had to go far to avoid any debris or stray blasts. However, the extra ice and snow were doing far more damage than expected, making the area unstable and before anyone knew it, cracks started to appear on the ground.
Oyuki's head servant saw this and panicked.
"Oh no! All that combat must have made the ice thin here! Move!..."She shouted, trying to warn everyone.
"Oh man, run!..." Sam said as she and the others tried to leave the unstable area.
However, the eldest servant was not as lucky. The old lady tried to leave but the ice cracked beneath her and before she knew it, the floor broke beneath her feet.
"OH NO!..."She yelled as she began to fall.
The other aliens and Team Phantom saw this and panicked.
"YUKIYO!..."The other Neptunian servants called out.
"Oh my gosh!..."Team Phantom all said in shock.
Thankfully, no harm happened to the elderly servant as she was no longer falling now.
"Huh?..."Yukiyo went, only to realize that she was in Danny's arms now.
"Are you alright, Ma'am?..."The ghost boy asked.
Danny was about to continue his fight Oyuki again, but suddenly heard the sound of someone scream and did what he always did when he saw people in danger. He saved them.
The old servant smiled at him.
"Thank you, young man. I'm not as young as I used to be, and my legs are less stable than the floor you destroyed. So, I appreciate the help..."She said as Danny placed her on the ground.
"Are you alright, Yukiyo?..."Oyuki, having stopped the fight for a moment, asked in concern.
"I'm fine. No damage. Can't say the same for the battleground..."Yukiyo said as the younger servants asked her if she was okay.
"Wow, that was amazing..."One Neptunian girl said, amazed at how quickly Danny saved Yukiyo.
"It was no problem. It's what I do..."Danny said, unaware that Oyuki's eyes were on him.
Not only did he protect his friends and sister during their fight, but he also saved Yukiyo as well.
"Even though we were still in a fight with so much at stake, his first instinct was to help someone who needed it. He's more honorable than I thought..."The alien queen thought.
She smiled slightly as she looked in Danny's direction, not that he was aware of it. Sam noticed this and frowned.
"Seriously?! She picks a fight with him and then has the nerve to make googly eyes now! Unbelievable!..."The goth girl thought, fists shaking now.
Danny, being oblivious, went back to the fight.
"Okay, where were we?..."He asked as he faced Oyuki again.
To his surprise, the queen of Neptune didn't try to continue the fight. Instead, she bowed gracefully, much to Team Phantom's confusion.
"What's she doing?..."The four of them all thought in unison before Oyuki spoke up again.
"Let's end it here as a tie..."Oyuki declared.
"Huh?..."Danny went, confused.
"The entire area has become too unstable, and I do not want to endanger anyone else. Also, you already proved your strength to him, which was the objective of this battle..."Oyuki said, simply thankful that Yukiyo is safe now.
"While we can finish our battle at a later date, I can still keep my word to you. It is the least I can do, for your rescue of Yukiyo here..."She declared.
Danny was confused but only cared about one thing right now.
"You guys will still get rid of the snow in my basement? Right?..."He asked.
Oyuki nodded, while the ghost boy sighed in relief.
"But first..."The queen began.
"Now what?..."Danny wondered, really wishing to be done with this and go home already.
"I believe that you and I should have a little chat..."Oyuki said while the ghost boy wondered where this was all going.
Meanwhile
On Earth
Lum was now in her UFO, exhausted.
She couldn't find Danny and just managed to shake off Rei, while Ran went after her crush again, finally leaving the alien princess in peace, if only for a moment.
Even so, she was still upset that she couldn't find her Darling.
"Oh my. Darling still isn't home yet. I'm so worried. We should head back..."Lum tried but her cousin blocked her.
"We can't. Danny's parents are still there and we just managed to get rid of that annoying guy in the pajamas. I don't know about you, but I'm in no rush to deal with that idiot again..."Ten said, frowning at what happened.
Lum huffed as she recalled what had happened earlier, which was partly the reason for how she managed to shake off Ran and Rei in the first place.
FLASHBACK
Earlier today
"Could this day possibly get any worse?!..."Each alien thought at the same time.
However, someone showed up at what was probably the worst possible time. A certain pajama-clad ghost who couldn't read the room approached the aliens.
"WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND?!..."The ghost said, surprising the small group of aliens.
"Huh?!..."Lum went, while she stopped in midair and caused the rest to crash into her and each other as they all stared blankly at the newest arrival.
Ten and Ran frowned at him, while Rei didn't seem to notice him yet as his focus was only on Lum right now.
Meanwhile, Klemper had shown up to "visit" Danny again, but couldn't find him. Even so, he was not expecting to see so many new people he'd never met before. But this just means that he has more chances to make new friends...or try too at least.
However, those unfamiliar with him reacted.
"Who the heck are you?!..." Ran shouted, not in the mood to deal with another blonde bozo.
"...Phantom?..."Rei asked in confusion, only to get smacked in the back of his head by a small hand.
"You dummy! That guy looks nothing like Danny! It's some blonde, floating guy wearing pajamas for some reason!..."Ten said, upset with Rei for mistaking some random ghost for his personal hero Danny.
Rei remained clueless, while Klemper floated towards the aliens in excitement.
"My name's Klemper. Will you guys be my friends?..."He repeated as he invaded Ran's personal space.
The pink-haired girl got annoyed and glared at him but tried to maintain her polite facade.
"Sorry, but Little Ran is too busy. So would you mind leaving my new friend's house while the rest of us settle our little disagreement?..."She said, trying to be polite, but on the inside, she was annoyed.
"Get lost, loser. Who gave you permission to interrupt us like that?!..."She thought, internally glaring at him.
Lum was about to say something when she noticed that this strange ghost guy was whimpering now, but then something unexpected happened.
"WHY WON'T ANYONE BE MY FRIENDS?!..."He shouted as he blew a bunch of ice, freezing the entire room as Ran soon found herself under 10 feet of snow.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! ANOTHER JERK WITH ICE POWERS!..."Ran shouted, no longer pretending to be nice now.
Klemper became more upset now, but a certain princess of Uru tried to calm everyone before things escalated further.
"Easy there, sir. There's no need to freeze us for giving you the cold shoulder..."Lum said, trying to calm him down but Klemper misunderstood and got upset again.
"YOU'RE ALL SO MEAN!..."He yelled as he sent some icicles at her.
"HEY!..."Lum shouted as she dodged them.
Ten saw this and got angry as he went to defend his cousin.
"LEAVE HER ALONE, YOU IDIOT!..."The little oni child yelled as he breathed fire on it.
However, Klemper dodged it and used his ice powers to counter the flames. The collision of ice and fire breaths turned to water and was starting to flood the house floors.
"I JUST WANT FRIENDS!..."Klemper kept whining as he continued to throw a tantrum.
Lum saw this and got angry and decided to join the fight.
"1! 2! 3! DIVINE RETRIBUTION!..."She yelled as she used her electricity on Klemper, who had forgotten to use intangibility to avoid it.
Unfortunately, the snow was starting to melt into water...and since every alien here was close to it...they ended up being zapped too.
"AH-HAH-HOOWWWW!..."Everyone, sans Lum, yelled at once.
Ten was okay since he managed to avoid it, but Rei and Ran, not so much.
"YOU IDIOT! WATCH IT WITH THE LIGHTNING!..." Ran yelled.
Lum felt a little bad since she didn't mean to attack Ran and Rei this time but soon noticed that her attack had fried a lot of the Fenton's furniture and gadgets. She made a face at this.
"Oopsie..."She said in a bashful way like she just did something only slightly clumsy.
"Danny's not going to be happy when he sees this..."Ten said, worried this just made things worse.
Lum just glared at Klemper, realizing this might make her attempts to "reconcile" with Danny even more difficult now. The alien princess lost her temper.
"Look what you made me do, you meanie!..."She said while the ghost started to whine.
"BUT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO BE MY FRIEND!..."Klemper whined again.
Ran managed to find some stored away Fenton ghost hunting gear and used it like a hammer and whacked the icy blonde ghost on the head with it. Rei morphed into his Tiger-bull form and started slashing at the ghost recklessly, leaving slashes on the walls, ceiling, and floor.
"I don't know what this does, but I know it'll hurt when I hit you on the head with it!..." Ran said as she swung the Fenton weapon around like a big hammer.
"Hungry..."Rei said before he noticed a bag of potato chips and soon lost interest in the battle and started scarfing them down.
Lum made a face at this, as she watched her ex-fiancé be as gluttonous as ever.
"And he wonders why I broke things off with him..."The oni girl muttered in dismay, while Ran continued to swoon over Rei as always.
"Can I have one?..." Klemper asked, only to be backhanded by Rei into the wall.
Klemper, upset and angry, blew his ice breath randomly across the room and froze Rei's new snack, which enraged the tiger-cow boy to morph into his beast form and attack the icy ghost guy.
"Make him suffer, Rei!..."Ran cheered him on, as she watched him attack Klemper and eat any more food he found lying around the house.
Lum rolled her eyes and was about to deal with them again. However, that is when they suddenly heard a vehicle parked outside.
"Wait...what was that?..."Lum said as she made everyone stop the fight by pointing out the noises from outside.
"Darn it. I can't believe I forgot to bring a credit card before heading out..."Jack's grumbling voice could be heard outside.
"Let's just be glad that we found out before we had to buy anything..."Maddie's voice was heard.
Lum and Ten heard these voices and panicked.
"IT'S DARLING/DANNY'S PARENTS!..."The two oni's yelled in a panic.
Suddenly Lum grabbed both Ran and Rei by the hands and started to fly fast upstairs.
"HEY! What are you doing?! Hands off!..."Ran complained while Rei seemed glad to be held by Lum.
"No can do! We got to get out of here! If Darling's parents see us and discover this mess, he'll be so mad and he might never take me back!..."Lum whined.
"Lum, over here!..."Ten said as he opened a window and Lum managed to get them all out, just in time for the door to open.
Once the door opened, Jack and Maddie gasped in horror at the state of their home.
"GREAT GLOBS OF GHOST GOOP! WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED HERE?!..."Jack bellowed.
And he had every right to be upset now.
He and his wife gasped when they saw all the melted snow, fire marks on the wall, broken glass and windows, furniture and gadgets that looked like struck by lightning.
To say that the Fenton parents were livid would be an understatement.
"WHAT THE HECK?! WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO OUR LIVING ROOM?!..."Maddie said, sounding angry.
Just then, Klemper appeared at the worst time and spotted new people whom he tried to "befriend".
"WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND?!..."Klemper asked as he appeared in front of Danny's parents.
That was his mistake as the Fenton parents pulled out their weapons and looked livid right now.
"GHOST!..."They both shouted as they fired at him.
"OH NO! THESE ARE NOT THE KIND OF FRIENDS I WANTED!..."Klemper shouted as he tried to fly away but Danny's parents chased after him.
"GET BACK HERE YOU NO-GOOD SPOOK! NO GHOSTS WRECKS OUR HOUSE AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!..."A furious Jack yelled as he chased after him, firing blasters.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR TRESPASSING AND RUINING OUR LIVING ROOM! AS WELL AS THOSE LOVELY CURTAINS I GOT ON SALE!..."Maddie yelled as they chased after whom they believed was the one solely responsible for ruining their living room.
They were unaware of a certain group of aliens who just barely managed to escape their house. All of them managed to escape the Fenton household without being spotted by Jack and Maddie. Then continued their dispute at an abandoned building a few miles away.
Afterward, they returned to their respective fights, not caring for how much damage they had caused in the process.
End Of Flashback
Present Time
Lum sighed as she recalled all of that.
Normally, she'd feel bad for letting someone else take the fall for her, but she really couldn't afford to get in trouble with Danny again. And she didn't want the first impression she'd make with her in-laws to be when she accidentally played a role in ruining their living room.
"I'll...find a way to make it up to them after Darling and I get through our rough patch..."Lum thought, hoping she could smooth things over at a later date.
She ignored the fact that she hadn't even met them as their daughter-in-law yet, thinking they would accept her instantly once it was all over. Plus, Lum did think that some places with the Fenton house were due for a makeover, which she was more than willing to handle when the time was right.
She also managed to get rid of Rei by pointing him in the direction of an ice cream truck while Ran went after him, leaving the oni aliens in peace for now.
"Let's just hope that ice cream truck can handle Rei's big appetite for a while..."Lum thought, just glad he's gone for now.
Unfortunately, right now, one of them is very impatient.
"So, how much longer do we all have to stick around until Danny and the rest come back?..."Ten asked Lum, who was staring out the ship's window.
"I don't know, but I hope it's soon..."Lum admitted, looking upset, as it felt like neither of them had seen Danny in weeks, even though it had only been a few days.
"This stinks! Danny's probably somewhere in that Ghost Zone right now, fighting something like a fire-breathing dragon and having a super awesome battle right now..."Ten said as he went to get some snacks, while Lum continued to pine after the ghost boy who rejected her already.
"Darling. Where in the world are you?..."Lum whispered as she looked out the window with longing in her eyes.
Unaware that the one she loves isn't even on Earth at the moment.
Back on Neptune
Danny was now in Oyuki's throne room again. However, she insisted that she needed to talk to him alone. She ordered her servants to tend to his friends and sister in another room. Now, the ghost boy and the queen of Neptune were alone.
"So..." Danny began.
"Before we start any discussions, how about we have a treat first?..."Oyuki said as her attendant brought them some dessert.
"What is this?..." Danny asked, worried about alien food again.
"It's our special Neptunian Sherbert, said to be the best in the galaxy. As well as one of my finest products..."Oyuki said with a proud smile on her face.
"Products?..." Danny asked.
"I am not only the queen of Neptune, but a businesswoman as well..."Oyuki said.
"Really?..."Danny asked, and the queen nodded.
"Yes, I sell things from frozen desserts to specialized windchimes to keep homes cool during hot weather..."Oyuki said.
Danny was surprised to hear that and now was more curious than before.
"Uh...how old are you exactly?..."He had to ask since she didn't seem that much older than him.
"I just turned seventeen 2 months ago..."Oyuki said.
"So, she's only a year older than me?..."Danny thought as the snow queen offered her the dessert once more.
"Now, don't be shy and try out one of our latest improvements to the Sherbert dessert..."Oyuki said.
Danny still seemed unsure, but Oyuki misunderstood his reaction.
"Don't worry. Since you are my guest here and I did cause you inconvenience today...it's on the house...just this once though..."Oyuki said, trying very hard to not let her miser show.
Danny, not wanting to be rude and believing nothing could be worse than Lum's cooking, decided to give it a try and his eyes widened in shock.
"Hey, this tastes pretty good..." Danny said in a pleased way as he ate more of it.
"You like it?..."She asked.
"Totally. It's cool, sweet, fruity and it has a pleasant aftertaste..." Danny said, amazed that he actually enjoyed something from space.
Oyuki smiled at that.
"I'm glad that you like it..."She said, deciding this rare act of generosity was worth it for now.
However, she made a mental note to double-check she would charge him the next time he wanted to try their sherbert. Especially since she hoped he would come back sooner than expected.
As Danny happily enjoyed the treat, the queen of Neptune decided to stop wasting time and get straight to the point now.
"Danny, what exactly happened between you and Lum?..."Lum said while Danny stopped eating now.
"Huh?..." Danny went.
"It's just that I feel that more happened between you two than what you said earlier. Lum is one of my dearest friends and I worry for her. I really would like to know what happened. So would you mind sharing how it all came to be?..."Oyuki said, wanting to know more.
Danny heard this and sighed, deciding to just be blunt with her.
"I'll be blunt. Some big misunderstandings were made and that led to a few more being made, leading to make everything else that's happened fall like dominoes. All of this because I beat Lum at a game of tag and she somehow made the biggest misunderstanding I'd ever seen. It's so troublesome..." Danny began to explain everything that happened between him and Lum.
From the announcement of the tag race to his accidental "proposal" and everything Lum has put him through since the half-ghost boy explained everything to the current ruler of Neptune, who listened with a calculating look on her face.
"...And that's how it all happened, up to the point where I'm explaining it all to another alien girl on Neptune of all places..."Danny said, taking a deep breath once he was done.
As Danny finished, he saw that Oyuki had no expression on her face, but she was mildly intrigued by the story.
"So...that's how Lum's first marriage came to be..."Oyuki said.
"And hopefully her first EX-husband too..." Danny thought sarcastically, still bitter about his current situation with Lum, before shaking his head.
"I don't know how it's done on Planet Uru, but I never proposed to her at all and I definitely didn't marry her. I didn't even know that she was still on the planet or that she was spying on me. What I said about marriage wasn't even directed towards her at all. I was just repeating something my dad said before..."Danny repeated.
Oyuki was silent as she processed all of this information.
"Now I've heard both sides of their perspectives. Let's see how much both sides are true..."The alien queen thought as she got closer to the ghost boy.
"I would like for us to be more... direct..."Oyuki said, trying to approach him.
"Huh?..."Danny went.
"Well, you've told me how you met Lum, your first impression of her, but what do you feel about her now?..."She asked, wanting to be sure about something.
"I don't know, but it's nothing good..."Danny muttered.
"Are you certain of that? Please, tell me..."Oyuki said, trying to get closer to him.
To her surprise, she saw a tired look on the ghost boy's face.
"If she tries to kiss me too, I am so getting out of here..."He muttered, mentally preparing to fire a ghost ray if she proved to be as hostile as Lum and Ran.
The queen of Neptune saw this and also realized that this probably wasn't the time to tease anyone right now. He's had too many negative experiences with female aliens. So, she decided on a different approach, one that would better earn his trust. She started by asking a more serious question, only without a hint of a mischievous tone in it.
"You don't love her, do you?..."Oyuki said, wanting to be sure.
Danny shook his head.
"No. I don't love her and honestly? I don't even like her. All she did was cling to me and didn't listen to a word that I said. She doesn't want to listen to the fact that I'm not at all interested in marrying someone that I barely know and keeps on claiming that we're married regardless of what I say..."The ghost boy said in a harsh tone.
"I see..."Oyuki said, not sure how to respond now.
"She might look cute, but she's too clingy and selfish for me to consider girlfriend material, much less as my future wife. I'm not even old enough to get married, even if I wanted to..."Danny said.
"How old are you?..."Oyuki asked.
"I just turned sixteen a while back..."Danny said.
"Huh? I'm not entirely sure how it is done on Earth, but on Uru, that's the age people are allowed to get married if they want to, though they would need their parents' approval first..."Oyuki said.
"In fact, it's the same case for most planets in this galaxy...including this one..."She whispered the last part, a slight blush forming on her face.
Danny didn't notice, as he was still too busy complaining about his problems.
"Even so, I don't want to marry her! She's really annoying and has endangered not only me but my friends and sister too with her crazy stunts! Half of which involved shocking people! She constantly shocks me with her electrical attacks whenever she gets upset or when I disagree with her, which is already a huge problem itself! I also found out that apparently, I'm not the first person who had to deal with her crazy antics, given how she treated Ran during their childhood!..."The ghost boy said, frowning right now.
"So, he even knows about the crazy things that Lum and Ran did back when we were kids. Well, that slightly complicates things, but not by too much..." Oyuki thought.
All the while, the ghost boy had a frustrated look on his face, before he spoke up again.
"I just don't understand what her problem is. I told her countless times I didn't propose to her and that I was just thinking out loud about something my dad told me before the last tag race. I don't get why she had to go all crazy like that. Plus, even IF I did like her, why the heck would she agree to marry someone she barely knows and who, for all intents and purposes, should have been her enemy?..."Danny asked, still not getting it.
Oyuki thought about it before she answered it.
"I think that I have an idea..."She began, getting attention again.
"Keep in mind, Lum never told me anything other than the fact that you are her husband and that she loves you. But I think I can theorize her reasons for her actions..."Oyuki continued.
The ghost boy continued to listen as Oyuki did her best to explain her old friend's actions.
"Lum is a sweet and kind person and a hopeless romantic too. She also has quite a temper and can be very stubborn. While she doesn't mean any harm, she tends to get carried away and it's very hard to convince her to stop, especially when she really wants something...and she has a tough time admitting when she is wrong or makes a mistake. Even so, Lum will keep on trying to make things work out even if it's not how she imagined it..."Oyuki said.
"I learned that the hard way. Even so, that still makes her sound like a real handful to deal with..."Danny muttered.
"True, but keep in mind that she is a princess and an only child of very well-off parents. She also has her father wrapped around her little finger. So as sweet as she can be, she has been pampered most of her life and rarely ever didn't get what she wanted..."Oyuki said.
"So, she is a spoiled brat..."Danny snarked.
"I prefer to call it pampered. However, while she can be gullible and naive, she's not stupid. I think that deep down, she might know that you never meant to propose to her...but she really wishes that you did. And in a misguided way, is just trying to win you over in the only way she knows how..."Oyuki said.
"But why? I'm not rich or super good-looking. Plus, she's a princess, and while I know that Rei isn't someone to bring home to meet your parents, she probably must have tons of guys who'd want to date her..."Danny argued.
"She does. Lum has always been popular with boys and has no shortage of suitors. However, Rei usually scared them off and she once told me that she finds guys who throw themselves and kiss up to her for her looks and status unappealing. She probably just wants someone who she sees as a challenge to win over. Plus, Lum got disenchanted with guys for their looks after her short-lived engagement to Rei..."Oyuki explained.
"Oh, right..."Danny said, recalling what that guy is really like.
"Even so, I can understand why you might find her actions confusing, and stressful. My theory is that...maybe she developed a crush on you during the tag race and that, along with wanting any excuse to avoid Rei's idea of "courting", she probably just latched onto you as soon as she could and used any excuse to be with you. She probably thought she could have gotten you to fall for her if she remained persistent..."Oyuki explained.
"Seriously?!..."Danny asked before Oyuki nodded.
"Yeah, I hate to say it, but she did similar things back when she chased after Rei as a kid. She always chased after him and tried to monopolize his attention, only to regret it years later once she saw he had the intellectual and emotional depth of a house plant. One then can eat out an entire restaurant's inventory during one lunch..."Oyuki said, recalling how Lum once complained to her about that long ago.
"For real?..." Danny asked.
"Yes. Lum can be very kind but when she falls in love, she'll stop at nothing to get what she wants. And those who get in her way. Well, let's just say that she's not afraid to be unkind if she thinks it will make things go smoothly for her ultimate goal..."The queen continued.
Danny frowned.
"She can't just do that! That's totally selfish and she's done nothing but mess up my life! If Lum's idea is to step on others at her convenience just to get my attention, then she'll get my attention...it just won't be what she's looking for!..."Danny said, looking angry.
Oyuki saw that look in his eyes and felt a looming dark energy form him for the briefest of moments and was startled by it. But once the half-ghost boy calmed himself down, that dark energy vanished as if it was never even there, making Oyuki question whether or not she saw it at all. Still, she remained seated and listened when Danny continued talking.
"You want to know what's funny, in an ironic way, Oyuki? If it weren't for her personality and if she wasn't so dangerous, I'd at least be willing to go on a date..."He said, looking angry.
"So... he's not repulsed by looks, just personality... Interesting..." Oyuki thought as she heard him continue to vent.
"So, looks aren't all that matters to you?..."Oyuki asked.
"I admit it, she's pretty but I'd rather go out with a kind girl who respects boundaries and isn't willing to lie or work with bad guys to get my attention. Including my archenemy..." Danny said, being serious.
"I...see..."Oyuki said, making a mental note of that.
"His archenemy? Seriously, Lum? What are you doing?..."The Neptunian queen thought in disappointment, while the ghost boy kept venting to her.
"One of these days, she's going to get someone seriously hurt or worse with either her lightning or those weird gizmos or crazy cooking of hers. I already have a hard time protecting my town from evil ghosts who want to destroy it. But now I also have to protect it from Lum's antics and all the craziness that follows her like her crazy ex-friend who kisses guys and takes away their youth, and her stupid ex-boyfriend who turns into a monster that has one track mind when it comes to Lum, except food, which he'll devour tons of even without transforming!..." Danny complained
"I see that Ran and Rei are still causing problems..."Oyuki thought as she continued to hear this boy's troubles.
Danny then let out a big sigh from slightly mental exhaustion.
"Sometimes I worry about whatever kind of trouble she'll bring to my hometown next. Which is why I need to get her to give up her crazy obsession with me before she or someone she knows causes some serious trouble and someone innocent gets hurt..." He said, noticing Oyuki was still looking at him.
"Sorry to have talked your ears off..."He said.
Seeing he meant what he said, the queen of Neptune couldn't help but feel some slight pity for him.
"Don't be, I don't mind. Also, I'm sorry about what Lum has caused. I was honest when I said that she is a good person. She just has a bad habit of being reckless sometimes..."Oyuki tried.
"That's one word to describe it..."Danny snarked.
"Perhaps. Your frustration with her is understandable and justified but try not to hate her for it. You need to understand that she is the daughter of a warlord and her people tend to be a bit...passionate...about the things they desire most..."Oyuki said, trying to be delicate.
"Passionate? More like pushy..."Danny muttered.
"That, as you said, is one word to describe it..."The queen said.
Danny paused.
He noticed that, unlike Lum and Ran, Oyuki was actually listening to him. Despite the surprise attack from her manservant B-Bo that she didn't call off, the out-of-nowhere duel, and the demonstration of her power, she seemed like a fairly reasonable person.
"Maybe this is my chance to finally make someone other than Ten side with me, convince her to move on from me, and make her go back home..."The ghost boy thought as he decided to ask her for help.
The odds might be low, but it still seemed good enough for the half-ghost teen to try and ask for help.
"So... uh... Oyuki? Or... I guess... Queen Oyuki?..." Danny asked, not wanting to be disrespectful.
"Just Oyuki is fine. Your question?..." She asked.
"So... any chance you can convince Lum that I'm just... not into her? Never was... Please?..." Danny asked.
Oyuki was deep in thought now. She seemed conflicted about something before she glanced at Danny again. Her eyes met his for a moment, and she looked away, before speaking up again.
"Lum is an old and dear friend of mine. She is very precious to me, but I am fully aware she can be hard to convince or handle..."Oyuki began.
"Tell me something I don't know..."Danny snarked, but the alien queen continued.
"Still, if what you told me is true...then she's made quite the misunderstanding, and she'll only get hurt if she continues on this path and I don't want that to happen..."Oyuki continued.
"Does that mean what I think it means? That you'll talk her out of this whole marriage thing between her and me?..."Danny asked, and the queen sent him a serious look.
Oyuki was silent for a moment, as if she was contemplating something before, she finally answered him.
"Fine, I shall try my best and see what I can do. Though it might take some time..."She politely responded, knowing it would be quite complicated to prove to Lum and her family the reality of her "marriage".
Even so, she planned to at least try for Danny.
Danny let out a breath of relief, happy to have at least this much help.
"Finally... an alien girl who I can talk to and reason with..."He thought as he let his gratitude show up on his face.
"Thank you, Oyuki. I don't know how I can pay you back for this..."Danny said, looking sincerely grateful and even hopeful now.
Oyuki smiled at this, a smile Danny didn't see as anything more than her being an ally.
"Oh, don't worry. I keep my word and...as for repaying me, well...You'll just owe me a favor, one that I hope to cash in one day..."The queen of Neptune said, still smiling at the ghost boy.
The same one who had intrigued her since before their battle. The one she hopes to see again sooner than expected.
A little later
Soon, Sam and the others joined after Danny requested them to be there, and Oyuki allowed it. Once everyone was seated and accounted for, the real topic of discussion could finally begin.
"Now, about the current location of our interdimensional portal?..."Oyuki began.
"Yeah, we were hoping that you and your people would mind moving it somewhere else..." Danny said.
"Preferably somewhere that isn't anywhere around our house would be nice..." Jazz added.
"So long as that's not too inconvenient to your plans, we want it down like yesterday. Unless you plan on using your monster to try and hold Danny hostage to-..." Sam said in a hostile tone but was cut off when Jazz elbow jabbed her.
"Sam, cool it! Remember what I said earlier!..."Jazz reminded her.
Thankfully, Oyuki didn't seem offended as she continued to speak in a cordial tone of voice.
"Don't worry. I will keep my word and have both the portal, and the snow removed from your home, as promised..."Oyuki said.
"Finally..." Danny thought but didn't say out loud since he figured that he shouldn't push his luck any further than this.
"Thanks. I'm glad that we could settle things..."He said.
"I am as well. And I apologize once more for B-Bo attacking you. He usually means well, but he tends to get carried away sometimes..."Oyuki apologized.
Danny was about to say something, but Sam cut him off.
"Whatever. Just remember to keep your buddy's temper in check..."Sam grumbled, but Oyuki just ignored her.
"Sam, chill out..."Danny warned, before turning to Oyuki once more.
"As for B-Bo. No worries. Water under the bridge as the saying goes..."He said, hoping there were no hard feelings between them.
To his surprise, Oyuki's expression changed a bit as she realized she still had a problem to deal with.
"Thank you. Still...it's going to be hard to find another location to get rid of the extra snow. If only we knew of a place that wouldn't mind a little extra snow every once in a while..."The snow queen said, hating that they still had this dilemma to deal with.
Danny blinked, wishing he knew of some way to help, but suddenly one of his best friends had the answer.
"Hey, why don't we just ask Frostbite to help resolve this problem?..."Tucker asked, as he just remembered about Team Phantom's icy ghost allies.
Danny heard this and smiled.
"That's a great idea. At the very least, I don't see any harm in asking..."The ghost boy said, seeing this as a plausible solution to both their brothers.
"Who is Frostbite?..."The elderly head maid asked, wondering what this human was suggesting.
"He's an old friend of ours. He's the leader of The Far Frozen in the ghost zone. He's a nice guy and I can at least ask and see if he'd be able to help with your snow problems..."Danny said.
To his surprise, Oyuki and her elderly servant seemed surprised by something.
"The Far Frozen? You know the people of the Far Frozen?..."Oyuki asked, sounding surprised.
"You heard of them?..."Danny asked, surprised by this.
"Of course. We knew of it..."Yukiyo said suddenly.
"You did?..." Danny asked.
"Indeed. There's no Neptunian that hasn't at least heard of the ancient legends and myths of the Far Frozen tribes...The head servant continued.
"Long ago. Long before even our queen's great-great-great-great-grandparents were born. Our scholars once theorized that the founder of our planet was once help and saved by the chieftain of the Far Frozen from a great threat long ago and some even theorize that we may even share a common ancestor eons ago, before both our races began to evolve..." The elder maiden explained.
All of Team Phantom were surprised to hear of an old historical connection between the Neptunians and the Far Frozen.
"Huh...well that's convenient..." Danny thought, wondering if Frostbite could clarify his people's connection with Neptune any further.
"I had heard of them too, but because of the lack of contact, we assumed they went extinct a long time ago..." Oyuki explained.
"Well... I happen to be friends with their leader, Frostbite. I can probably talk him into letting us throw more snow from you and reconnect with them..."The ghost boy offered.
"... you would do that? To someone whom you have just met?..." Oyuki asked, seemingly touched by this.
"Sure. That's what friends do..." Danny shrugged with an innocent smile.
That brought a smile to Oyuki's face. Unlike Danny's complicated view and feelings towards Lum and Ran, he saw her as a friend. That made her feel quite happy.
Sam glared at this, fists shaking. Tucker also saw the way Oyuki was glancing at Danny and felt conflicted about it.
"I feel like I should be a little envious right now, but my arms still hurt from all that snow shoveling from earlier. And I just know those other hot snow babes are going to ask me to do that again..."Tucker thought, slightly wary of the alien snow girls but not willing to avoid them either.
"Hopefully the next adventure won't be this cold..." Jazz thought, hoping for a more warmer climate next time.
With that, the portal was ready for Team Phantom.
"I shall be there soon, Danny Phantom..." Oyuki said.
"You can just call me Danny..." Danny responded with a wave.
Hearing that caused Oyuki to nod, her smile growing slightly.
"Very well, Danny. And as I said earlier, you may call me Oyuki..." Oyuki said.
"Thanks..." Danny went, smiling at her, which his friends noticed.
"Are you kidding me?!..."Sam thought as she spotted the way Oyuki was looking at Danny.
As the group returned and the portal closed, Oyuki's eyes closed as she let herself think about seeing Danny again, which was a crucial part of her plan. A plan that seemed to make her feel lighter than air, as evident by the way she smiled in an uncharacteristically joyful way.
"My queen? That look on your face... does that mean what I think it means?..." Yukiyo asked.
"It does... I believe that I have finally found an ideal...candidate..." She said, an intrigued look on her face as she looked in the direction where the portal Danny had used had been.
Her head servant heard this and sighed, as she knew what this meant.
"Lum's not going to be happy about this, you know..."Yukiyo said.
Oyuki's expression never changed.
"I know. But Danny made his feelings very clear. Plus, it's like my mother always says, one woman's mistake is another woman's opportunity..."Oyuki said, a slight smirk appearing on her face again.
She also mentally planed an apology gift that would hopefully be appropriate enough for her dear friend Lum in the near future.
Her servant sighed once again, knowing that things would only get more complicated in the near future now that the queen had made this choice.
"I just hope this won't affect our treaty with Planet Uru in the future. Still. He is a nice kid and at least he's way better than that Moroboshi boy, that's for sure..."Yukiyo thought as she recalled how that boy had saved her earlier.
She smiled a bit as she looked at the young queen of Neptune, who began to order her servants to clean the snow out of Danny's basement.
"I just hope that she knows what she's doing..."The elderly servant thought, as she went to follow orders from the queen of Neptune.
Later
On Earth
Danny and the others were back on Earth now. Just as promised, Oyuki had her servants remove all the snow from the lab and fix it. Leaving it as it was before.
"That should be the last of it..."Oyuki declared, as her servants began to leave through the portal.
"Thanks. I really had no idea how I was going to explain this to my parents if came back home early..." Danny said, just glad that he doesn't have to deal with that now.
"It was the least that we could do..."Oyuki said gracefully.
"No kidding..."Sam thought with a frown, knowing the real reason why she's acting so nice right now to Danny.
Oyuki paid her no mind and turned to the ghost boy once more.
"So, you said that you would speak to Chief Frostbite to schedule a meeting with me and make some sort of deal in regard to our snow issue..."Oyuki said.
Danny nodded.
"Yeah, I can't make any promises but I can try and talk to him and see if he can do anything..." The ghost boy said.
"I suppose that is the best we can ask for right now. Either way, you have my people's thanks..."Oyuki said before she handed him something.
"Um...what is this?..." Danny asked.
"It's an interplanetary communicator. When you have everything all set with Chief Frostbite and his clan, let me know and I will be here in an instant..."Oyuki said, smiling at the ghost boy.
"Will do..." Danny said as he placed it some place safe to make sure his parents couldn't find it and started asking questions.
"This thing looks like something out of Star Trek. Maybe I can leave it with my space stuff and my parents will just think it's a toy or something..." Danny thought, seeing that this was the best way to hide and a better use for this device.
Soon, Oyuki and her followers left through the portal before closing it for good.
"Finally. Good riddance..."Sam grumbled.
"Sam, relax. I know that the snow wasn't any fun, but I think you're being a bit harsh. Oyuki didn't seem so bad. At least not as bad as some of the other aliens we've met so far..." Danny said.
"That doesn't mean I'm going to drop my guard around her. She's still one of Lum's friends, and that still makes her untrustworthy in my book..."Sam said in a distrusting tone of voice.
Recalling what happened while he was using Oyuki's telescope, Danny sighed.
"Well, I guess she does get too close to people's personal space kind of like Lum, but at least she seems reasonable, and, in the end, she apologized and set things right. So, I don't think we need to see her as an enemy..." Danny said, not getting it.
"You seem to have gotten awfully chummy with her already?..."Sam said in an accusing tone.
Danny frowned before he answered.
"I wouldn't exactly say chummy but I'm just glad that I don't have to worry about her either zapping me or trying to turn me into an old man with a lip-lock..."He responded.
"You say that but out of the three alien girls, I see she's your favorite, just like you're her favorite person here on Earth..."Sam snarked.
"I guess so but what's your point?..."Danny said, not getting it.
"Clueless..."Sam, Tucker, and Jazz all muttered.
"What are you guys all talking about?..." The ghost boy asked, still as clueless as ever but was ignored.
Soon everyone went upstairs, hoping to put this crazy adventure behind them. As they did so, they started talking again.
"Does anyone else feel like their toes froze off? Or is it me?..."Sam complained.
"Not really, but my arms still feel a little sore..."Tucker said while Jazz started to complain too.
"I think that I still have some snow stuck in my hair..." Jazz said while Danny used his intangible to remove any leftover snow on his sister's hair.
"Thanks..."She said as they continued to walk up the stairs.
A moment later
Team Phantom was now upstairs. To their shock, they saw that the Fenton living room was in even worse shape than the lab was minutes ago.
"WHAT THE HECK?!..." Danny yelled as he saw his family's living room was destroyed.
"What the heck happened?! Did a tornado pass through here?!..." Jazz asked, looking dismayed.
"You don't think Oyuki or one of her flunkies did this? Or did Lum pay another visit here?..."Sam asked, figuring one of the alien girls was responsible for this mess.
Before Danny could say anything, Danny's parents returned but had a ghost in one of their Fenton ghost fishing nets.
"HA! Finally caught you! Time to pay for what you did to our house, you putrid pile of ectoplasm!..."Jack said in an angry tone while Klemper started wailing.
"Not to mention all the damage you did to our furniture! You're definitely going to get what's coming to you!..."Maddie said, sounding very furious with the ghost.
"Mom? Dad?..." Danny went, and his parents finally noticed him.
"Oh, hi Sweetie. Back already? I thought you guys would still be at the Nasty Burger right now..."Maddie said.
"We just got back. Uh...what happened here?..." Danny asked, gesturing to his living room.
His parents looked mad again.
"This lousy, no-good spook trashed it! That's what happened! We caught him red-handed and now it's payback time!..."Jack said.
"That's right. And once we put this chilly ghoul in containment, we're going to test out the durability of this ghost's ectoplasm..."Maddie said, still fully convinced Klemper was the only one to blame.
"Huh. So Klemper did it. I guess he tried to find us and went through another one of his tantrums when he realized we weren't here..." Danny thought, unaware that he was only partially right.
Once Danny and Jazz distracted their parents by wanting to hear how they managed to subdue the ghost in their own house and their plans to interrogate the pajama ghost for what happened here. Tucker and Sam both slid away, just wanting to go home.
As that happened, Klemper pulled out an icicle from his pocket. He angled it and managed to poke the knot that kept him contained until he managed to get into it and pull it. With the knot of the Fenton ghost fishing net now untied, Klemper was now freed and he wasted no time in trying to escape and whining about his problems.
"WHY WON'T ANYONE BE MY FRIEND?!..."Klemper wailed as he phased out of the house and flew away.
Danny's parents got angry at this.
"GET BACK HERE!..."Jack said as he and his wife grabbed their weapons and chased after him again.
Danny and his friends blinked.
"Aren't you going to go after him?..." Jazz asked her brother, who yawned.
"I'm too tired. Let Mom and Dad deal with him. Plus, they look like they needed a change of pace from making so much anti-alien equipment lately..." He said, not wanting to deal with any more drama today.
"So, what now?..."Tucker asked.
While the house was no longer freezing, the living room was still a mess and Danny knew his parents may take a while as they dealt with Klemper.
"Wanna head to the Nasty Burger? We never got a chance to go today due to our little space trip..." Danny suggested.
His friends and sister agreed, and they soon left, leaving a note for Danny's parents just in case they came back home too soon.
The ghost boy left his home with his team, his mind on finally fulfilling one of his childhood dreams and all the other stuff that happened along with it. As well as thinking of the far more charming alien he met today.
One whom he hopes he can get to talk Lum out of her constant pursuit of marrying him.
"I sure do hope that Oyuki can do something about Lum. Otherwise, I'm going to need to keep recharging Mom and Dad's alien teleporter just to get some peace and quiet now..."He thought, sighing but being somewhat optimistic.
All the while, his older sister still felt a little cold and really wanted to eat something warm after that chilling little adventure.
"At this point, I'll settle for the 4-patty Mighty Meaty Cheesy Melt Supreme..." Jazz said while Danny couldn't help but chuckle at that.
He and his friends and sister continued to journey to the Nasty Burger, unaware that his home received certain "visitors" earlier who were the true cause of the damage to his living room. Or that said "visitors" were back on their respective spaceships with a few still on Earth, still having plans to cross his path again in the near future.
Danny suddenly felt a chill run up his spine, and not because of his ghost sense.
"I sure hope that this is as crazy as it's going to get..."The ghost boy thought with a sign.
And as he walked, Oyuki was on his mind.
"Still, I wouldn't mind seeing her again. To get Lum off my back, that is..." He thought with a smile before he realized where his thoughts were heading.
He, his friends, and his sister continued to journey to the Nasty Burger, unaware that the craziness was only just beginning.
