Chapter 8 – A Happy family
On the 4
th
day in prison
Pride's motionless body disappeared
"Sound the guards!"
The guard ran out of the prison quickly.
A shadow moved on the prison cell ceiling.
Pride fell on the prison floor; he was still not used to using his sloth authority.
"I feel disgusting" he groaned in discomfort holding his belly.
Pride slowly crawled through the darkness of the prison hallway.
As pride escaped the front door of the prison using his invisible providence to drag his
broken and scared body out of the prison.
He hid near the bushes to catch his breath and vomited.
He was still far from a beginner in using his authority of slot he received from Petelgeuse.
He laid on his back looking at the bright full moon.
"The moon really is magnificent"
Subaru spoke as the cold wind blew through his white hair.
As all the guards were in panic.
Their main priority became sealing the gates of the capital.
The whole prison was in panic as the news of pride escaping came to light.
The Council of wise men were summoned at the cabinet on an urgent notice.
"What do you mean he escaped?"
An old voice spoke in a hoarse tone.
"This is serious, alarm every knight available to put out a search for him" The member of
the council of wise men ordered while slamming his desk.
"But! Miklotov-sama" the guards spoke.
"I don't care how; he needs to apprehend right now!" He spoke cutting of the guards.
Every single guard and knight currently stationed in lugunica was put in action as the news
of prides escape became news.
News started breaking out by word of mouth and people were in panic.
The panic spiraled out of control and the guards didn't have enough time to prepare.
As a result, the public still had no idea of how pride looked.
The Civilian's were divided upon hearing the news.
How could the royal guards, the mighty and brave royal knights who took pride in their
honor and uniform let such a blunder happen in the first place.
Some blamed the royale guards for their incompetence.
Some used this incident as a means to protest against the royalty.
Some were scared and hid in their homes, some already ready to leave their homes and
belongings.
The protester caused chaos as people blocked roads causing the slow movement of the
guards.
In a nearby ally way
Pride in a manner of half walking half crawling and trembling hiding from everybody's
sight.
Slowly was making his escape using the chaos in the capital as camouflage.
"Oi! He was seen coming over here look out" A man spoke out.
"Shit"
"We need move hide"
"Raksha, Plum you guys hide in the basement" The man with dark green hair and a claw
scar prominent on his face spoke to his wife and daughter.
"But dear!"
"What about you" A women with purple hair and brown eyes replied to her husband.
"Some one needs to protect the store and the house" He replied.
"I will get something to reinforce the doors and windows" He spoke while running out in
a hurry towards his appa stand.
As he approached his stand, he noticed someone with a big cloak hiding behind it.
He maintained his fighting stance as he moved closer towards it.
As He moved closer, he was able to see the face very clearly
"Who are you?" He asked.
"I am…. Umm…" Pride was hesitant to answer.
"You are injured!" He cut off the white-haired boy as he saw him gravely injured.
"Come with me this place is not safe"
"The thugs are using the chaos as an opportunity to mug people" The green haired man
proposed the idea.
Pride was still untrusting to his idea, but he had no choice he needed to get healed before
he could continue.
"Before that!"
As the man with green hair spoke, Pride was ready to run if he got suspicious of him as in
his current state, he needed to avoid unnecessary clashes as much as he can.
"What's your name?" The green-haired man asked
"My name is ummm…"
"My name is Amagiri"
"Amagiri Ayato." The White-haired boy replied as he was still unsure if his lie was bought.
As he quickly used the alias of the main character from his favorite anime, he used to love
watching back in his world.
The green-haired man's face turned into a smile.
"Nice to meet ya, my name is Kadomon"
"Kadomon Risch" The green haired man replied.
Pride let out a chuckle as he remembered the guy who was made his first ever save point
when he came to this world.
The person who not only helped him locate the loot house but also indirectly helped him
gain Emilia's trust.
But even though he still had his worries as he lost his ability to trust people that easily.
Both of them walked back to his house.
Kadomon entered first and assured his wife and daughter.
"Papa!"
Plum ran towards her father, scared.
"There, There"
Kadomon pats her head and reassures her safety.
"Dear!"
Raksha asked in worry.
"We were so worried for you"
She spoke.
"Well, I am fine but"
He looked at them and then looked back prompting his visitor to make an appearance.
As pride entered.
Raksha looked behind her husband in worry.
Raksha's face was painted with horror and concern.
"Dear, Who would be…."
She prompted him.
"Well that's for later"
"He needs immediate medical attention!"
"Would you please help him"
Kadomon requested his wife cutting her off.
Raksha was concerned but agreed.
As she pitied the shape pride was in.
She welcomed pride and quickly began to prepare the bandages and herbs.
Plum looked at pride as pride groaned as the bandages tightened on his burns and cuts.
Felix healed any life-threatening injuries of his including any internal organ damage or
broken bones so pride wouldn't die due to internal bleeding.
Even if he was healed of those life-threatening injuries he still suffered from phantom
pain.
For pride the time stopped.
The amount of time he repeated the same save point.
A change felt more like a break to him and break from the hellish torture he faced.
The torture in literal sense was for 3 whole months.
But for him, Od knows how long it has passed.
He lost track of time.
His only means of keeping track was his blood slowly dripping from his scars till his life
became extinct.
"Alright!"
"We are done here, if there's anywhere you feel uncomfortable, please let me know"
Raksha asked pride.
"I am very grateful for the hospitality"
Pride replied.
"I will get ready to serve dinner, Plum please assist our guest to the guest room"
Raksha requested her daughter.
Pride laid on the bed warm and fluffy.
At this point he was too used to the hard floor, and it felt weird and uncomfortable for
him.
He heard knocks on the door.
"It's kadomon, are ya okay in there" He asked.
"Please come in"
Pride replied while getting up from the floor to not make himself look suspicious.
"So, ummm…."
"Thank you, for the hospitality"
"But I would like to ask"
"Is it alright to let a stranger in in the amidst of all the chaos?"
Pride thanked kadomon as he was confused why was he so comfortable with letting a
stranger in.
"Well, I have my worries"
"But!"
Pride looked as he continued to speak.
"A Half-elf once helped my daughter when she was lost, for her plum was a stranger and
didn't concern her"
"But she still helped her"
"Since that day I am very grateful to her"
"I had prejudice"
"I judged her with only her appearance"
"But she proved me looked can deceive sometimes and to never judge a book by its
cover"
Pride was surprised to see the idiom from his world existing in this isekai world.
Kadomon looked guilty but he brushed it off.
Kadomon with a straight face and smile bright like a sun added.
"I love my family above all"
Pride looked towards him in shock, a glimpse of happiness passed his face.
As he looked at the happy family, tears found their way through his eyes .
"Oi!"
"Are ya alright kid?"
Kadomon asked with concern for the boy's health.
Pride remembered his mom and dad, how they must have felt when he locked himself in
his room.
He felt thankful to them for not giving up on him that easily.
"I love love love my family as well"
Pride thought as he cried with kadomon sitting beside him on the bed watching him in
pity.
"I will make sure to follow up with the other kids in school"
"I will show them that I am the son of Natsuki Kenichi"
"I Will prove you"
"That your son, Natsuki Subaru won't give in so easily"

Pride thought to himself with a confident look on his face as tears flowed down his cheeks.
As he pictured his loving parents.
Even though he knew he would never be able to meet them again.
