Ok loyal readers it's the final battle VS Etemon! The powerful villain has the group on the ropes, that is until Kouta's Digivice activates with a message from Ophanimon. It's time for Geogreymon to Digivolve to the Ultimate Level! Can our duo stand any chance against this powerful enemy? Or will they finally meet their makers? Read and find out. - chapter 32 - Etemon's Final Show!
Deep within Etemon's base the research laboratory of Datamon, the likes of his master Etemon and Metaltyrannomon went over Datamon's research. Again, numerous viewscreens, cables and mechanical devices littered almost every inch of the place... one of which printed up a few papers explaining Datamon's research. Fetching it Datamon handed it over to his master, who also read it over but frankly all the science notes were something he couldn't make heads or tails out of. Etemon threw the notes right over his shoulder. "Agh! None of this makes any sense to me! Explain it Datamon! Make it simple."
Picking up the notes from the floor Datamon broke things down as simply as he could. "In short master Etemon I haven't found any logical reason why the DigiDestined have been defeating us. I've looked into any and every possible aspect... Nothing. Nothing to explain their victories against us. And all our troops have been wiped out. It saddens me to say this but we're all that's left."
"Are you serious?!" Metaltyrannomon gaped, his metal jaw dropping.
Glancing up from his research Datamon clarified his findings for the Cyborg type. "I am always serious Metaltyrannomon."
The response from Metaltyrannomon was what you'd expect, sarcastic. "So, ya basically came up with zilch huh? Well, some help you are... Supposed to be the brains of this operation." He grumbled turning around walking away.
If there was one thing Datamon hated more than Etemon angry at him... it was Metaltyrannonmon being angry at him. The Cyborg type's power exceeded his own and possessing more power still was Etemon.
An angry Etemon was a very dangerous monster, unlike Devimon he preferred to let his minions fight his enemies taking a hands-off approach. But when he did decide to... he was a powerhouse! Seemed like now was the time to take the fight directly to the squad of brats. Scowling Etemon didn't really like it... but it was about time he crushed these organic pests once and for all. "Those brats have gotten in my way too many times. Boys begin the final countdown... This will be the last dance! Hack into their Digivices we're gonna send 'em a message. A very important one, they can't refuse." Etemon ordered.
His two top warriors simply glanced at each... unsure what to do right then. But that made their boss even angrier, hollering at them to give them the message! "NOW! YA DIMWITS! GET ON IT!"
"Yes master... At once." Datamon agreed shaking in fear triangulating the frequency of the groups Digivice.
"Sir! Yes, sir!" Metaltyrannomon said immediately going about helping Datamon.

Meanwhile at the Inn Lucy was finishing up the final touches on an American dish from the south called gumbo, something Alex had taken liking to during vacation in Louisiana. It was different... spicy even but a nice change of pace. After the meal had been scarfed up all of a sudden Kouta's Digivice went off. Even stranger everyone went off with the kids puzzled as to why. Who would be contacting all? Luckily for him Lucy had explained how to use them as a communicator, reluctantly Kouta with Agumon beside him answered it. "Um... Hello? Who is this?'' He said asking who was calling.
"Hey there kiddies... How's it going?" The voice on the other side nearly made his blood along with everybody else's run cold. It was Etemon!
"Etemon! What do you want? How'd you even... " A stunned Kouta spoke into the device.
"Not him but me." Another voice spoke through Alex's device.
"Datamon! That evil oversized vacuum tube... I figured he'd be partly behind this." Tentomon surmised.
After all, Datamon was the brains of Etemon's operations, hacking into their Digivices was just the kind of underhanded stunt he'd do. "Ah Tentomon I thought you'd forgotten me considering we fought so little. I'm touched... But enough pleasantries my master needs a word with you all."
Now that he had the group's full attention Etemon made his demands. "Simple meet me at the same lighthouse you beat Devimon for our final countdown. Be there or be square."
"Otherwise, this city... will be a sea of flames. My kind of place." Metaltyrannomon adding one last threat for incentive. "And it'll be all your fault."
"We'll be waiting... Farewell." Datamon added in his mechanical tinged voice.
For a moment all was quiet at the Inn, as everyone brainstormed on just what they should do. None of them had unlocked Ultimate yet. They'd get slaughtered. But if they didn't... millions of innocent people would be collateral damage whose suffering would on their heads. Finally, after what seemed like eternity Kanae spoke up. "So, what do we do big brother? Do we fight him?"
But before he could answer Jason spoke up. "Before you even answer Kouta, he's an Ultimate... he'll wipe the floor with us. Like last time. Remember?"
Even Mayu wasn't fully open to the idea of the final showdown. They'd get beaten... just like before. "Not to mention Datamon and Metaltyrannomon. They're too powerful we won't stand a chance... "
However, seeing Mayu so hopeless wasn't something Renamon was going to tolerate from her. "Well, Mayu if they beat us before we'll simply fight them again. And again. And again, until we win. We can't endanger the innocent people of the city."
Indeed, this was something Palmon agreed with the fox on. "Yeah, like Renamon said. We'll just keep fighting 'til we win that's all."
As Kouta continued to think over their words of encouragement over Alex spoke up. "Look I get it. He's stronger than us. Seriously we can't ignore the danger. It's our duty, buddy, as a DigiDestined and as a hero."
The cheesy speech he was something Jason also agree on. "You know I like you Alex and yer big brains, but you're really pushing it now. But still, I agree with him. It's about time we show this clown who he's dealing with."
Surprisingly it was Nana who spoke up next. Even more surprising were words she expressed it with. "I say we do it. Jason's right if we don't stop Etemon... who will?"
By this point Yuka chimed in adding her thoughts on this. It wasn't an easy decision to make but many in live weren't. As she stood gazing at the old clock she spoke. "We've got to defeat Etemon once and for all... even if it means we never come back." She said with a serious expression.
Sighing Kouta knew Yuka might say something like that, still like Alex said they couldn't ignore the danger. Etemon was an obstacle they needed to conquer, one way or the other. "Ok everyone you convinced me but let's get one thing straight here. If anything happens to us... IF we fail who'll watch Mariko?"
"I can take care of myself... " She grumbled, annoyed by the idea she was helpless.
Taking a glance at her Digivice Lucy pressed the button generating a Digi-Port: their method of quick travel to the lighthouse. Turning to look Bokomon in the eye she gave him what might be her last request. "Mariko. Stay here and guard the place if we don't come back. Bokomon take her to the Digital World and keep her safe. Digi-Port open."
Quickly the group (with Bokomon & Neemon joining) jumped through it as it closed up again, leaving Mariko alone with Calamon. Though she didn't show it much she was deeply worried. If they lost what would happen to her? To the city? "I hope they beat him." She said.
Naturally Calamon agreed even encouraging the young girl to keep up hope. "If anybody can do it they can. I know it."

Once the group arrived, they saw the trio of evil monsters waiting for them. This was it the final battle against Etemon! It was now or never! And it was something Etemon knew as well. "About time you got here... I was gettin' bored." The monkey suited monster joked.
"Indeed, it's been too long since I last ground you all down." The oversized cyborg dinosaur said flexing his metallic claws.
"But no more! We will be victorious! You shall lose." Datamon boasted readying himself for combat.
Everyone then called out for their data-based partners to get battle ready. "Execute! Champion Level Digivolve!"
''Agumon Digivolve to... GEOGREYMON!" Agumon now Geogreymon called out.
''Patamon digivolve to... ANGEMON!" Patamon now the blue robed Angemon shouted.
"Palmon Digivolve to... SUNFLOWMON!'' Palmon now Sunflowmon called out third.
''Renamon Digivolve to... KYUBIMON!" Renamon now Kyubimon yelled.
''Tentomon digivolve to... KABUTERIMON!" Tentomon now Kabuterimon yelled next.
''Hawkmon digivolve to... AQUILAMON!" Hawkmon now Aquilamon called out.
"Hagurumon digivolve to... GUARDROMON!'' The likes of Guardromon called out after Hawkmon.
''Salamon Digivolve to... GATOMON!" Salamon called out lastly now Gatomon.
As Etemon sat back he watched his two most powerful soldiers battle it out it against the eight Champion level partners. He figured they'd get obliterated really quick. But... To his shock every time the brat's partners were knocked down their organic counterpart cheered them to get back up and keep fighting. And the battle spilled into the nearby city streets. They simply wouldn't give up!
"Fox Electric Attack!" Kyubimon called as she attacked Metaltyrannomon with an electrifying headbutt.
If the cyborg monster felt it, he did a great job of hiding it. "Was that all you got?" He muttered only he was attacked by Aquilamon's Blast Rings & and Geogreymon's Mega Burst, his far stronger version of Mega Flame! "Argh... Yer getting on my nerves!"
"And we'll continue to do so! Hand of Fate!" Angemon said launching his powerful holy punch right in the evil cyborg's mouth.
Getting hit by the Hand of Fate had him recoil, especially since he took it right in his mouth! "Guardian Barrage!" Guardromon called out launching his whistling missile barrage, each one detonating over Metaltyrannomon's chest... sending him reeling slightly.
Furious the evil dinosaur fired a Giga Destroyer II missile from his right hand hitting the Champion level machine with full force who fell to his knees. "Get up Guardromon! If we keep 'em distracted, we might have a chance!" JP yelled to his partner.
While Metaltyrannonmon had his claws full it seemed Datamon wasn't doing too well either. He was fighting Sunflowmon, Kabuterimon, and Gatomon all at once! "Counter Trap!" Datamon yelled out shocking Sunflowmon knocking her out of the air.
"Sunflowmon! Are you just gonna lay there and take that?! FIGHT!" Kanae cheered to her partner.
Shaking her flowery head Sunflowmon swerved out of the way from Datamon's Digital Bombs. She slammed both her fists into his... as the two grappled for control! "Why do you resist us! WHY!?" The evil Datamon growled demanding answers from the stubborn flower. "ARGH!" He yelled as he was hit by Kabuterimon's Electro Shocker.
Swiftly climbing up a nearby Gatomon jumped high into the air cutting through the powerlines... whose live wires fell onto both of the network powerful goons giving them a very nasty shock! The kitty knew she needed to fight dirty if they were going to win this! She'd do it but she'd hate herself the next morning though. She spied a broken line of a tow truck and gave it a toss, ensnaring the oversized cyborg's legs. "Sunflowmon blast him over that way!" Nana called to Kanae's partner seeing what her partner had planned.
The flower used a potent Sunshine Beam to knock the evil half robotic dinosaur forwards. As he moved his legs were entangled... meaning he was going to trip over himself. "Huh!? OH NO!" Metaltyrannomon hollered as he fell over falling flat on his face. "OOMF!"
His impact had his tail swipe a nearby car sending it flying... right into Datamon's path. "Eh? OH NO!"
His opponents quickly scattered out of the way as the vehicle exploded upon impacting his body. "AGHHHHH!" As the smoke billowed into the skies Datamon's body was charred. His glass dome was cracked wide open. He was in a sorry looking shape. "Argh... How could this happen to us? We are of a superior level... So how?" He uttered.
"How're these chumps making Monmon out of us?!" Even Metaltyrannomon agreed... how were they getting beaten so badly?
They were at the Ultimate level. They should be more than strong enough to take down eight Champion level pets, couldn't they? But before they could even think any more Etemon punched Datamon through his body tearing out his Digicore. And just as fast he did the same to Metaltyrannomon; ripping out his core as well.
And as you'd expect both the Ultimate's were in a state of shock... They were always loyal to Etemon. So why... Why betray them like this? "My master... How... Could you?"
Even the once mighty Metaltyrannomon struggled to speak... wondering why just why his master betrayed him like this. "But boss... Why? No matter what we always loyally served you Etemon... Why?"
He had a new plan... and boy was it a doozy. With both cores in his possession Etemon absorbed both their data supercharging himself. "Nobody likes a brownnoser! Besides you've been useless against those brats! Since we arrived you haven't done bupkis. Nothin! Ultimate level my Digicore! Yer both dead weight. And I hate dead weight... So long and good riddance!"
As the two Ultimate's dissipated back into data and code their boss smirked. And of course, Kouta and the team were in just as much shock as Etemon's dead minions. The reaction Kanea gave was of pure disgust. "How could you do that to your own friends? I didn't think you were so heartless... "
"Supervillain methodology. Betray your loyal minions. Etemon's the bad guy here what'd you expect Kanae?" Palmon whispered.
She didn't expect it, like before she was disgusted by Etemon's level of evil. A sentiment shared by the entire team. Growling the walking monkey suit callously said how he saw things. "They were never friends. Flunkies. Minions. Hired goon's kid. Friends are a secret for losers! Not hard to get!"
Seeing a few stray bits of Datamon's code wafting around Kouta balled up one of his fists. He'd be darn sure Etemon wouldn't get away with this. "You're wrong Etemon... Friends are the ones who're always there for you through good times and bad."
That whole spiel about friends had Etemon laughing his butt off. "Hahahahahah! Ya got guts kid... I kinda like that. It's sure gonna be sad for me when I get rid of ya."
Glaring daggers at the Network soldier, Kouta was sick of this guy. Sick of his attitude and tired of him terrorizing the city for his sadistic amusement. This was it... time for his final stand against Etemon. "I got more than guts Etemon. A lot more." He said coldly.
And thus, Kouta & Geogreymon stared down Etemon as a breeze blew the boy's hair... The final battle against Etemon had begun!

Alright finally this story's been updated again. Next time it's the final battle against Etemon! Things are gonna get white hot, the action goes to new heights! So intense you don't want to miss a second of it! Ok for references... I'll give 50 points to all the readers, whoever can correctly guess all the references the characters make. Be it anime, manga, comics, books, live-action, animation, or games it doesn't matter. See if you can guess any. Something else many chapters are puns off words or phrases (like the show does/take a look and you'll see it). Hopefully July will be a lot more fruitful. How's the pseudo soundtrack holding up? I'm keeping it because the songs set the mood listen to them on Youtube while reading I think you'll like the atmosphere they create.
