Chapter 3:Clover in the rough

Asta was stoked to say the least. He, the boy with no magic had been able to become a magic knight! He was one of the newest members of the black bulls along with Noelle silva. A white haired royal who had trouble controlling her magic.

What Asta was stoked about though was the fact that an important mission was handed off to him even though he was actually pretty green and had only done a single mission before this. Although it was pretty important and not to sound cocky he did save an entire village.

Anyway the mission was a dungeon run. It was on the border of clover and diamond and the wizard king wanted it to be cleared as soon as possible. He assigned Asta, the aforementioned Noelle, and a battle crazed lightning magic user named Luck Voltia.

Finral, their resident spatial mage had teleported them there. The biggest problem when they got there had less to do with the dungeon than you'd think. After getting into the main room they had discovered magic traps of all different kinds. Luck thought it'd be a good idea to activate as many as many as he could.

After a bit Luck finally stopped and marveled at Asta's sword."Wow, that anti-magic sword sure is something else!" He said with stars in his eyes.

The blonde Lightning mage happily clapped his hands as he remembered something."You know, you remind me of one of our other members. He's probably younger than you but he's got some serious magic power and his attribute can absorb mana! If he pushes himself hard enough he can even nullify it completely! But it takes a lot out if him and he can't do it very often."

"For Real!" Asta said with wonder. "What's he like?!" He asked. "Eh, you'll figure it out when we get back. He was on a mission that had him driving out like, 7 monsters so he's been gone for a few week."

"7 Monsters?!" It was Noelle's turn to yell; who had previously been uninvolved with the conversation." You said that he was younger than us right? Than there is no way he could have taken such a dangerous mission." Noelled said assuredly. Luck turned to her "I promise you, Tear could handle 10 monsters if he put his mind to it." His face had gained a slightly more serious look; and is tone was less goofy and playful.

That shut Noelle up. Hearing and seeing someone like Luck get serious like that; it would be downright idiotic to not believe them.

"Anyway, I can't wait to fight you in a couple years. All you have to do is make sure tht sword is ready and we'll have it made!" Luck said, right back to his unserious persona.

"Alright, time to finish off this dungeon." Luck declared.

Luck closed his eyes and focused. His range of mana sense was beyond anyone else's. In captain's words "If it wasn't for his busted personality, all the squads would be gunning for him."

After only a few seconds, Luck had found something. "I knew it, we aren't alone here." Luck thought as he gained a crazed smile."The strongest of them all is..." Luck stopped his thoughts there.

So without his two juniors; Luck shot off."Sorry guys but something important just came up! You two clear the dungeon while I'm gone!" Those were Lucks parting words.

Back At The Hideout

Things had been going pretty good for Magna. Tear and Luck were out on missions so they couldn't annoy him, Yami wasn't pestering him with chores, Vanessa wasn't teasing him, Gauche wasn't yapping about his sister, and Noelle wasn't complaining and acting all high and mighty as she was also on a mission. Life was chill.

BOOM!

Suddenly the roof splintered and cracked open as a boy had crashed through it. "Huh?" Magna said, right before said boy crashed into him shoe first knocking him out.

" Hey Magna!" The boy proclaimed. After a bit he realized Magna wasn't conscious. So he panicked and slapped him to wake him up.

Then he slapped him again.

And again.

And again.

Than Magna woke up.

And again.

And again.

an-" WOULD YOU CUT THAT OUT!!"Magna roared. Magna got a good look at who had just pissed on his day and gave an exausted sigh. "Who The Hell Just Blew A Whole In My Roof!?" Yami yelled as ran in. "Hey Yami!" Yami stopped and gave an uninterested look. "Oh, it's you." Yami turned around and walked back. "Hey! You're not gonna ask how my mission went? Or if I'm okay?" He asked.

"Nah, I'm good. But I will say welcome back Tear." Tear sweat-dropped but was happy with the welcome. He looked around and waved to all the other members. Then he noticed something; "Where's Luck at?" Tear questioned, tail flicking back and fourth.

"He went on a dungeon run witn our new recruits" Yami answered. "New Recruits!? You telling me you actually got some poor fools to join?!" Tear exclaimed. "Yep. A strong kid with no magic and a Royal with no magic control." Yami clarified. "You got a ROYAL to join? I can't wait to beat them! You've gotta let me go!" Tear said, stars in his eyes. "Absolutely not. You're probably gonna mess something up. And if I were you I'd take more interest in the magicless boy." Yami said.

"Wait, he's like actually magicless? Like not even a drop?" Yami nodded yes to his question. "How did he even compete in the magic knight exams?" Tear continued to question. "He's able to use anti-magic. It basically does what your magic can do, except better. It's a perfect counter to all magic." Vanessa chimed in, drunkenly.

"First of all, nobody can do what I can do. Especially not better. Secondly, you aren't doing a good job of convincing me not to go. Dont you think that you should let me go? Just to make sure Luck doesn't mess up? I promise I'll be good." Tear said, eyes shining gold and losing their normal slit shape for large round pupils.

"Well that was rather pretentious of you. But come on Yami! You can't say no to that face!" Vanessa supported. Vanessa and Tear got close up. "Pleeaaa-" "Alright!" Yami interrupted. "You can go damnit! just don't screw anything up. Don't need Julius getting on my ass because of you." Yami said.

"Deal!" Tear spread his wings and flew out the hole he had made. But a couple minutes later he came back, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head. "So which direction is the dungeon?" Tear said while akwardly giggling.

After getting the directions Tear bid farewell and flew through the hole he made, which had fixed itself right after. "Oh Yeah, I probably should've told him the Golden Dawn is gonna be there." Yami said, a cig in hand.

"The Golden Dawn?! Why Would you let Tear go if they were there?" Magna questioned. "I forgot." Yami said simply.

Magna sweat-dropped and went to his room. Yami lit his cigarette and Vanessa went back to her couch."I'm definitely gonna regret this." Yami couldn't help but think.

Back At The Dungeon

After Luck had left, Asta and Noelle had managed to get themselves trapped! It was this weird flytrap that restricted their arms which rendered Asta's swords useless. Right when it was about to consume them though a dagger made out of wind shot through one of the vines and into the main body.

"What was that?" Noelle questioned?

They both looked back to see a tall boy their age with a black long sleeve shirt, brown pants, black hair, orange eyes, a necklace that has a blue stone with a gold cross in the middle, and a magic knight robe depicting the Golden Dawn's insignia.

"And with that, my debt to you is paid; Asta." The boy said "Hey Yuno." Asta replied.

Once Yuno got down it was revealed he wasn't alone as two others of the Golden Dawn had come. A glasses wearing, silver haired man and an orange haired girl with bright green eyes.

"So this is Yuno." Noelle thought. Asta had talked about him a bit right before they got trapped. "Yuno" the silver haired man had called out. "Yes sir." Yuno acknowledged. "Why did you go out of your way to save these people?" He said quickly and coldly.

"we've been charged with exploring his dungeon and securing its valuable content. Our primary objective is to reach the treasure at its heart with all possible haste. We have no time to involve ourselves with such rabble as these." The senior continued while pushing his glasses up.

"Jeez. Who the hell is 4-eyes the rude here?" Asta said, slightly offended. "My superior-" Yuno just barely managed to get out before said superior exploded."Excuse Me And You Think That I'm Rude?! Don't Say That Again Brat!"

"Fancy meeting you here Noelle." The orange haired girl said kindly. "We haven't seen eachother since last year's royal banquet. Isn't that right?" She said while Noelle gave an uncomfortable look."You know eachother?" Asta questioned.

"Yes, Just a bit." Noelle said, eyebrow twitching."Actually I'm her cousin." The red head revealed. "I heard the Black Bulls are a rough group to be around. Are you sure you're alright with them?" She asked genuinely.

"I could say the same about you Mimosa." Noelle said putting an odd emphasis on her name. "Are you sure you can keep up with such an elite members of the Golden Dawn? What with the dim-bulb that you are."

"Sure! Everyone is just so incredibly kind. I can wield my magic with no qualms at all knowing I have their support." Mimosa said, not registering the insult.

"Oh! How rude of me, with you struggling to control your magic. Is that still a problem?" Mimosa had said with a genuine concern rather than an insult. "It's coming along fine, thanks for asking." Noelle said with an even more uncomfortable look.

"Great, I'm glad we're both doing good as magic knights. We even got a star on out last mission." Mimosa stated while the silver haired man smirked. Though to their shock, with a smug look on Noelle and stars in Asta's eyes they proclaimed that they had also gotten a star on their last mission. Which the Golden Dawn senior had claimed as a lie, as well as the Wizard King's personal request for their participation in this mission.

"I thought that there were supposed to be three of you?" He had suddenly stated. "Did he run away or did he get caught in one of the traps?" He had questioned. "He didn't run away. Nor did he get caught in some traps." Noelle answered. "Then where is he?" He pushed on.

Eventually this degraded into insults and a competition of who could clear the dungeon first. The Golden Dawn, or the Black Bulls.

In The Forest Somewhere

"WHERE THE HELL AM I!" Tear shouted. He was pretty sure he was going the right way; but he had been going for at least 16 minutes and he was still above the forest. He had never been in this direction before and they hadn't given him a description of what the Dungeon area actually looked like.

He decided to just continue flying, picking up the pace. "At this rate they'll be done before I get there and this'll be a huge waste of my time." Tear stated, going even faster than before. "Actually, I think I have an idea." Tear said thoughtfully.

Tear tried pushing his magic into his wing orbs and shooting them out, he figured that since his magic could output so much force it would be way faster than flapping. Luckily for him it worked. He had to keep his wings flexed uncomfortably and it took a bit of magic power to keep going for a while but it was way faster, like WAY faster than before.

"NOW THIS IS MORE HOW I LIKE IT!" Tear exclaimed, the wind blowing through his hair. He had to push magic to his eyes to keep them from drying out as well as prostrating his body weirdly to keep the orbs facing forward. The more Tear thought about it, the more this actually kind of sucked. But he had to tough it out. At this rate he'd be there soon.

The Dungeon Again

Asta and Noelle weren't having the best luck. Unlike Mimosa they didn't have an instant layout of the dungeon and had to just go and hope it worked. That was until Nero had flew off of Asta's head and pointed them the correct way.

With Luck a bunch of knocked out diamond mages surrounded him. "Awwwww, these guys were so weak, hardly any fun." Luck said dissatisfied, then he turned his slightly crazed gaze onto the last man, who hadn't engaged in the initial confrontation. "But you're different though. You must be strong." Luck said, craziness rooted into his voice.

"No comment, I'm not one to raise expectations." The black haired man had said. "Well you can't be weaker than those guys right?" Luck pressed on. "I will say that I'd probably last longer than my underlings." He replied. "Good, afterall like you said they're underlings, they can be weak as long as the leaders strong." Luck finished.

After a little more conversation, the man stood up. "I assume you Clover folks are here for the dungeon and I right?" He asked. "Yeah so let's fight" Luck said with lightning crackling around him.

Suddenly the man turned around and sprinted off. "I mean do we really have to fight? We could just have a foot race, no violence or bloodshed necessary. What do you think?" He said still running off.

Luck instantly caught up to him though and threw a kick, which the man dodged after creating a cloud of smoke. "I can see why your people are angry with mine. Nobody likes being invaded, but what choice do we have when were running low on resources. You see I have three daughters at home I need to take care of."

Again Luck threw a kick, but this time the man was only able to avoid a direct hit, as his cheek had a bleeding gash.

Back with Asta they were in a much less serious situation as they were struggling to get through the pathways. A gravity room that constantly changed. "Is that treasure?" Asta exclaimed after seeing a large chest. "Of course not you moron it's obviously a trap!" Noelled yelled to no avail as Asta floated after it. Once he grabbed it gravity returned to normal. "Alright let's see what's inside!" Asta yelled out while opening the chest.

What they found was definitely not treasure as it was filled with organs. Asta took a slap for it and hurled right after.

"You're certainly a hot blooded youth." The diamond mage said. Luck continued to attack him but he dodged every single kick. "Come on it's no fun if dodge, fight back!" Luck proclaimed. "I recognize that robe. I had the honor of fighting your captain." Luck was suprised by that. "Cool, you know captain Yami?" Luck said. "How could I forget? After he left me with such a reminder." He said showing off a large chest scar.

Luck was about to reply when suddenly he felt dizzy. "Oh? You dont look well something wrong?" He said with mock concern. "Im fine." Luck assured. Though when he went for an attack he was way slower than normal. "The air in here is saturated by my magic. Thin smoke that the eye cant see. It's a spell called Weakening Smoke Magic:Garden of Plundering Smoke." He informed.

"So all that talking you were doing, was ju-yes" he interrupted. "It was to stall and have you breathe in the smoke. But I was only able to cast it with you being busy combatting my underlings. Quite a thing isn't it? Teamwork."

The Golden dawn had made it. "This is the last room" Mimosa said. "It seems the Black Bulls haven't shown up yet either." She observed. "Of course, what would you expect? We are the Golden Dawn, the best of the best; after all." Klaus said haughtily.

Then, before any of them could react, crystals had risen from the floor and pierced Mimosa. "Mimosa!" Klaus said shocked. It pierced her cloack of magical defense. But it didn't actually pierce her skin. She should be able to heal with recovery magic." He analyzed.

Klaus knew that Mimosa had a very keen mana sense, but even she never saw the attack coming. The spell couldn't of been trap magic. Meaning it had to have come from a diamond mage!

"You're in my way. Now move." A white haired man had said. He was wearing an open chest white long sleeve shirt as well as white pants. He had a sharp nose and three diamonds in a vertical line on his forehead in between his eyes.

Back with Luck; he was struggling to even move, with the smoke he breathed in, but one word was playing in his head

"Win"

"Win"

"Win"

"Keep on winning, Luck."

With a wry smile and electricity crackling around him, he had gotten back up. Suddenly his boots grew into animalistic grieves; his arms were covered in large, clawed vambraces. "We're just getting started." Luck proclaimed.

In Luck's mind a scene from his childhood was playing out.

A slap could be heard, right outside of a house as we see a mother who had just slapped a young Luck. "Why can't you do what I tell you?" She said. As we see Luck. A large, crazed smile plastered on his face."Stop smiling like that! Get mad, cry. Do something normal. Why were you born a defective freak?!" She questioned as she went in for another strike.

We cut to a couple years later. Luck had fought against a noble, and won. People in the back commenting things like "an ordinary citizen had won against a noble?" And "it's never happened ever since this school started this tournament."

When he got home, his mother embraced him for accomplishing such a feat. "Oh Luck! That's fantastic! Most people like us don't stand a chance against the nobles; but obviously you're special. You'll win again, won't you? Use that power of yours to win and win and keep on winning. In this world nobodys gonna help you. You have to help yourself"

Back to the present, Luck had fired a lightning bolt at the diamond mage which he had managed to sidestep cleanly. Immediately after though Luck followed up with a melee rush going for punches and kicks but had still not managed to land anything, but one word still kept playing in his head.

"win"

"Win

"Win"

"I'm going to keep on winning!" Luck exclaimed as he went for an underhand claw swipe, which again had missed. "Unfortunately, I can't afford to lose either." The diamond mage said. "Smoke Creation magic:Binding Cross Prison." Luck's attempt at another strike was cut short as smoke wrapped around his arms, legs, and top half of his body. Only leaving his eyes uncovered."this smoke is solid; I can't move!" Luck deduced in his head.

"That spell takes a lot of magic power. I was really hoping to avoid using it." He said triumphantly. "Anyway, now that I've got you beat I can go over to my own youngster." He continued while feeling the bruise on his cheek.

"Plant Recovery Magic:Dream-Healing Flower Cradle." Mimosa had woken up and used her main healing spell which put her in a cradle of vines with pink flowers making the bedding. She was regretful for her being caught off guard and taken out despite the fact that she was the sensory and healer mage. Klause reassured her and told her focus on recovery.

"That insignia; he's a mage from the wretched diamond kingdom!" Klaus observed. "What kind of warrior are you? Attcking from behind." Klaus questioned. "I have no idea what you're talking about. You are just pebbles blocking my way." He said monotone as he shot a wave of crystals at Mimosa; who was still healing in her cradle

Luckily Klaus had managed to stop the attack with a barrage of steel."Back me up Yuno!" Klaus ordered.

Yuno brought out his grimoire and immediately used a spell. "Wind Magic:Towering Tornado!" A large twister enveloped the Diamond mage as he was obstructed by wind. But when the spell ended it revealed a dome of crystal which receded and had shown the diamond mage unharmed.

"This is bad." Klaus said, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

The diamond mage continued his assault with his crystals but Klaus was able to make quick work of them with metal drills."Yuno! I'll stay her and hold him off while you go to the treasure hall!" Klaus told him. The diamond mage was extremely strong and risking both of them wasn't worth it; especially when Mimosa was temporarily incapacitated.

"Are you sure?" Yuno questioned. "Stop questioning me and do as I say! I don't like leaving this task in the hands of a commoner but we're out of options!" Klaus said harshly. Yuno left without another word. While Klaus was looking back though the diamond mage had trapped his foot in crystals and was about to skewer him.

Meanwhile Asta and Noelle were making progress, they had reached the path Luck went though there was a problem. "Mana has completely saturated the air around here." Noelle informed Asta, who couldn't see said mana due to his lack of it. "This is the way Luck went and this much mana means there was or still is a fight." Noelle finished. " If he's close then we can go help him!"

"But should we though? Luck likes to fight and if the diamond kingdom's mages are here then they're going for the treasure, and our mission is to protect it." Noelle presented.

"No way." Asta said. "If Luck is fighting it doesn't matter what he thinks or what anyone else thinks. We're gonna help him cause we're a team." Asta finished, the conviction in his voice made clear that there was no argument to be had on the matter.

Noelle gave a defeated sigh and said something about dumb commoners under and her breath but she lead the way anyway.

Not long after, they had found Luck trapped in a smoke prison. Without hesitation Asta jumped in with his sword cutting Luck free and stopping the diamond mages attack.

Simultaneously Yuno came back and saved Klaus from his inescapable demise. Despite Klaus's pushback on his decision Yuno shut it down with the exact same words Asta used when in response to saving Luck.

"You're My Friend!"

Back With Tear

"Ive gotta take a breather." Tear said breathlessly, and then proceeded to fall out of the sky. "AAAHHHHHH" "BOOMF". Luckily he had been able to protect himself with basic reinforcement magic but its still hurt. He also got a sense of deja-vuu but he couldn't remember what it was from. It was probably a dream he had or something like that.

His muscles hurt and his wings were cramping up so bad he had to dispell them. That was the weird thing about his magic. He had to have Dragon Wings active to use any of his other spells and the wings felt like a genuine part of him as well; not just constructs of mana that he could dispell anytime.

His wings could feel, they could cramp, they could tear, they could even scar if he had em out long enough. They perfectly mimicked a real body part without actually being real and it honestly kinda messed him up sometimes. He loves how his wings work but it can be pretty annoying.

Tear decided he'd take the rest of the journey on foot til he reached the dungeon. "I'm probably right there anyway im sure itll be fine." Tear reassured himself.

Luck seemed out of it again as we cut back to another of his memories.

Again a young Luck is seen, though this time he's at a cemetery; adults around him and his mother nowhere to be seen. In the back three men were having a conversation."From what they say she just up and died" one man said. "She did seem like she was under a lot of stress lately." The second man recalled. "Left a kid behind too. Poor thing must be heartbroken." The third man finalized. "Well I don't know about that." The second man replied. As we see the face of Luck, a wide, crazed, and yet solem smile on his face and tears running down his eyes. "He's a strange one. His mother is dead and yet he's smiling."

"He's mine." Luck said, bringing us back to the present. "I'll win, and dedicate my victory to you mom!" Luck thought, his smile more deranged than ever. "I'll take him on alone, so Stay Back! I don't need friends to help me win. I'll use the power I possess." Luck proclaimed while running forward past them. "Please Luck! Let us help!" Noelle begged.

"I have to do it by myself or I'll never earn my mom's acceptance!" Luck replied not even looking back.

Luck's mad dash didn't come to fruition though as the man crom diamond effortlessly dodged, taunting him on the way passed. He shot a blast of smoke which Luck jumped over as he dived at him which again was effortlessly dodged. The man fired two wreaths of smoke, catching Luck on his landing. "I need my mom to accept me. Or else I'll be all alone!" Luck thought desperately.

Just before the attack could hit him though Asta came to the rescue and nullified the attack. "You go ahead and do what you gotta do Luck. But so will I got it?!" Asta exclaimed. "I gotta be him on my own!" Luck replied crazily. Asta continued slashing though. "Sorry but that's not gonna happen!"

Luck completely stopped moving as he got lost in his thought. "In some way... I was trying not to notice." Asta continued talking though as he was driving the diamond mage back. "You're my friend! You're our friend! So, Let Us Help!"

"Trying not to see that even I have friends that I can count on. Sorry mom, it turns out... That I'm not alone after all." Luck told himself as flashes of all his friends he'd made since he became a magic knight. Luck had finally become active again and told Asta "You're right! It sounds a lot more fun to fight together!"

"Well of that's how it's going to be I suppose it's time to get serious." The diamond mage said, bringing up his gromoire. Suddenly, smoke started spreading everywhere completely saturating the room they were in and making almost impossible to see.

Asta tried nullifying it with his sword but there was too much and each bit he destroyed would just be replaced with more. "Smoke Creation Magic: Prison of the Fallen King."

Yuno had decided that he wouldn't leave his friend and superior behind. Which had proven to be the right choice as Klaus was one second away from being completely impaled by crystals.

"This guy's too strong to use any one regular spell." Yuno deduced. "Let's see how he handles this." Yuno thought. "Wind Creation Magic: Swift White Hawk Wind Blade Shower!" A large bird of prey made purely out of wind as well as daggers of same material formed arounf Yuno.

"He's performing a dual casting?!" Klaus thought utterly shocked. "Get out of our way Diamond mage." Yuno said confidently as he let his two spells attack continuously and independently.

The diamond mage jumped back and finally brought out his grimoire. "Crystal Creation Magic: Laevateinn." At his call an absolutely Humongous sword spawned and deflected some of the daggers. Yuno replaced those that dispersed but it was getting increasingly difficult with each barrage deflected.

Suddenly the sword shot forward in an overhead strike that Yuno barely managed to dodge using his hawk whicn he had called back to himself. Yuno sent the hawk rushing at the diamond mage with the sword now being far away from him.

Klaus smiled at what was about to be the first clean hit on him when all of a sudden the hawk was bisected by the sword, to the shock of Yuno anf Klaus. That sword not only was extremely powerful it was also deceptively fast. Yuno created two hawks and sent the extra one straight up at the top of the roof, he then sent some of the floating daggers at him from all directions. "NOW!" Yuno called as the hawk dive bombed, moving so fast it had almost become a blur when again, it had gotten bisected. The sword had easily spun and deflected the daggers and then it was just placement for the hawk.

"This is really bad." Klaus said. Yuno's attacks weren't effective at all at this rate he'll run out of mana. Yuno on the other hand had a calm look, disguising the nervousness he was feeling."That sword is a lot faster than it looks my daggers aren't fast enough to get past but my hawks are. I got it then." Yuno thought, changing up his strategy.

"Wind Creation Magic: Swift White HawkWind Blade Shower!" Yuno exclaimed. "He's dual casting the same two spells? Has Yuno lost his mind?" Klaus thought incredulously. Though this time something was different. Yuno had created three hawks and immediately two out leaving two to surround him. The daggers on the other hand hadn't moved. They had stayed in place growing in number.

The two hawks danced around the large crystal blade. Though each time one made an opening for the other it led to nothing as the sword would move to protect his creater. After a while of back and fourth Yuno made a mistake; one of the hawks wings had been clipped and the spell dispersed. "This is bad, I dont have enough blades yet." Yuno said nervously. He was hoping to stall the diamond mage with his hawks and overwhelm him with blades but he just didn't have the time. He'd have to work with what he had.

Yuno held his hand out and wordlessly had the blades rush forward recklessly at him. Laevateinn was holding off most of them but some were actually slipping through and forcing the diamond mage to move. "Ah I see, that was your plan. To overwhelm him with your spells!" Klaus observed. Yuno ignored him though and focused on his daggers and the diamond mage. Unknown to both Klaus and said mage he had been charging his extra hawk with mana. This would cause it to hi at extreme speeds and if he still managed to destroy it it would explode due to all the excess magic.

The plan wasn't full proof but it was the best thing Yuno could think of that wouldn't harm Klaus and Mimosa. So, Yuno focused all the daggers to attack on the side away from him. Herding the mage towards him while also having the sword face away from his hawk. "There It Is!" Yuno exclaimed in his head. The Hawk shot forward at blinding speeds, the wind blowing Yuno and Klaus back.

"BOOM"

The Hawk struck true as it exploded in a huge burst of wind magic that blew Yuno away and bruised his face.

"Impossible." Klaus said after he got up from Yuno's attack. He was unharmed but what he sae shook him to his core.

The diamond made, was not only fine from that attack but he was completely unscathed. Almost like it never happened at all. Wind blades were falling to the floor in a literal wind blade shower, Yuno was panting from the amount of Mana he used.

"Those embedded gem stones. I've heard of them" Klaus mentally noted.

"There have been rumors that the diamond kingdom have been artificially cultivating mages who have artificially enhanced magic power." Klaus thought.

"They select children from a young age, have them compete in brutal challenges and the embed magic heightening items into the survivors bodies. Is he one of those survivors?"

Klaus couldn't accept this. He wouldn't accept this! He was of nobility! A member of the elite Golden Dawn! One of his allies had already fallen and the only reason he hadn't met a more permanent one was because of this commoner who was even protecting him right now while he was on a knee looking pathetic!

"I refuse to stand this humiliation any longer! Steel Creation Magic: Spiral Lance!" Yuno looked back in a panic to tell him to wait but it was too late. When the drill reached it's target it had revealed to be a mineral clone. The mage behind it.

When the spell finished the clone had went completely undamaged to Klaus's shock. The clone rushed at him but before it could land a strike Klaus blocked it with a steel barrier.

At the same time the mage swung his sword at Yuno who with a gust of wind managed to evade and get behind him. The sword continued its's assault but with Yuno's wind magic he was able to dodge in mid-air through flight. Thought eventually the fast onslaught became too much as Yuno was struck in the stomach by a thrust and pinned against a wall, coughing out blood.

Again he went for a finishing slash but Yuno had managed to recover in time to fly out of the way and throw slashes of wind at him that did absolutely nothing. Yuno landed on his hands and knees absolutely exhausted.

"Such pitiful magic won't work on me." The diamond mage said in rare spout of talkativity.

Yuno used said talkativity as a chance to stand up and fly out of the way of another attack. Completely on the back foot Yuno continues to dodge the large sword sending wind slash after wind slash to no avail which the mage didn't fail to point out.

Yuno remembered when he told Asta something similar when they were kids. Asta didn't give up then, so Yuno refused to give up now!

"Stop your pointless pos-I Won't!" Yuno interrupted with a wind blast.

"Move" "I Won't!" Yuno sent another.

The diamond mage raised his sword, two words coming out of his mouth. "Give up." "I will not." The conviction in Yuno's voice was clear and the determination in his eyes were clearer, he was going to die before he quit.

With a chop of his hand the sword rushed down to split Yuno down the middle. Too tired and too stubborn to dodge Yuno sent another wind blast to deter the blade. He had about as much success as with the rest of his attacks.

Though right before Yuno could be killed someone ran in. All of a sudden the sword was the one split down the middle as the it was revealed to be Asta, too the shock of everyone present.

"Hey you. Freaky-lookin pale dude. Keep your hands off this guy. Yuno's not yours to fight. He's my rival." Asta shouted.

We move back to when Asta, Noelle, and Luck were fighting the smoke mage. They tried to clear the smoke but it just didn't do anything. There was too much being made too quickly.

Luck analyzed the smoke mage."Ok, what do I know about his fighting style? He moves fast in the smoke and can dodge any attack I throw at him. I can sense him but but since this is his spell he can probably sense us too. Our best bet is to blindside him but how do we do that if he can sense where we are?" Luck looked around for ideas and saw Asta screaming and swinging uselessly at the smoke. "That's it! Asta has no mana which means he can't sense him! I got a plan."

Luck walked over to Asta and Noelle and grabbed them. "Huh?" "Don't touch me!" Asta and Noelle reacted. "Shut up, I've gotta plan to take this guy out." Luck explained what he had in mind and after getting everything set up it was time to go.

"Don't get any ideas just because I cant see you! I can sense your mana presence just fine." The smoke mage said. Then he saw two blue orbs that were revealed to be Luck with his lightning armaments on. "Rapid firing? Getting desperate are we? I'm afraid you won't be able to hit me with those" he said taunting, but Luck didn't respond and just kept firing.

"I guess it all come down to experience, I've likely been in more battles than all of you combined." He pointed out. His lack of attention would be his downfall though as all of a sudden Asta came in swinging getting a direct hit and causing him to cough up blood. The man was sent flying into a wall and knocked him out. Clearing the smoke.

"I cornered him with my lightning blasts while you two got ready." Luck explained his part of the plan. "I concentrated my mana into one point and shot it off in a fraction of a second so he wouldn't notice." Noelle explained her part. "And since Asta has no mana to speak he wasn't able to sense him coming and was able to take him out in one shot!" Luck also explained Asta's part.

The man woke up while they were explaining their plan and did a self examination. "Oh man, what did that kid do to a feeble old man like me? My arm is definitely broken so that isnt good. Judging by the thrrobbing pain in my chest I'd assume some ribs are in a similar condition. I definitely can't continue to fight like this. The Clover kingdom has some real hidden gems. Take this magicless lad. Wielding an enormous blade. Even with my extensive experience I've never met anyone in or out of the battle field with literally no magic whatsoever."

Asta walked up, sword in hand. "If I'm gonna be taken prisoner; I'd rather die..." The smoke left started constructing itself into a... train? "...Or just run away." "Hey get back here!" Asta yelled running for him with Noelle following suit.

Luck was close to catching him but a large plume of smoke was able to knock him off their tail."Ah man, that's too bad. And I was really looking forward to finishing the fight with that old guy. But that's not the mission right guys? We've gotta get to that treasure hall." Luck said to Noelle's shock and Asta's excitement in a rare sense of responsibility.

"At this rate we'll have to forgo the treasure." One of the NPCs said. "I'm sure young mars can handle it. After all he is Diamond's secret weapon."

Tear had been walking for what feels like forever. He had his head down and looked up for second to see a large door on the other side of a large ditch. "Wait is that? No way, really? YES! YES! I'M FINALLY HERE!!!" Tear shouted at the top of lungs. After 24 minutes of flying and 6 minutes of walking he had finally made it to the dungeon sight. "I've gotta hurry. I don't know how long I've got before they finish the dungeon."

Tear didn't want to waste time and brought out his grimoire "Dragon Magic: Dragon Wings." Tear immediately took to the sky flew through the door and touched down in the opening room. "What the hell?" Tear said confused. The main room had a bunch of pathways that he just genuinely didn't understand. "Just great, I suck at mazes." Tear said with an exasperated sigh.

Tear took a single step and activated a trap circle. "Now what is this supposed to be-EeEeeE" Tear panicked as he suddenly got picked up by a familiar vine monster. It restrained his arms and legs but luckily enough, not his tail. Which would be its first and last mistake as Tear cut himself free with his tail-barb, turned around and eviscerated the monster with a blast of dragon energy.

"We seriously got dumbass monster traps too? Who the hell made this dungeon and why is specifically tailored to pissing me off?!" Tear yelled as he took another step forward not learning his lesson. Another trap circle activated and this time it created an ice golem about the size of the hideout."You have got to be kidding m-" Tear was interrupted as the golem stomped on him.

Chapter End

AN: First cannon chapter and I'm honestly not the most happy with it. Couldn't balance all the events happening at once in the beginning but you might notice that it got better in the second half. This chapter basically had Tear be the comic relief which I really hope yall enjoyed. If you weren't into that I promise he'll turn up in the next chapter. Remember to comment so I actually know yall like my stuff by the way. I can't get better if I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Bye now!
