20XX August 9th
Angel Island
Flying above the sea, Super Sonic is next to the Tornado, even Amy is cheering while Tails is focusing and pulls up a thumb to Sonic.
Sonic also pulls his thumb up while grinning and then boosts towards the island at the speed of sound.
Behind the trees and hiding in the bush in Angel Island, Eggman and Knuckles are watching the golden light charge towards the beach as Eggman grins.
"There he is. That rodent I told you about before." Eggman whispered.
"Wait, I thought he was blue." Knuckles is confused about Eggman's history and his description about Sonic himself.
"Well, he was… But due to the chaos emeralds he used, he is in that state." Eggman points out.
"I see. We'll give him a piece of our minds!" Knuckles digs downwards as Eggman exclaims.
"Huh. I didn't know you're a mole." Eggman is surprised to see Knuckles' digging as if he's watching an actual animal.
As for Sonic, he's looking around as he made it through the seas.
The sound had his ears perking up, causing him to stay alert as he looked down.
The sound is getting louder, giving Sonic a reaction time to move before something hits him.
Finally, a ground has released a red echidna, alerting Sonic to dodge in a split second, making him block the echidna's fist.
"What the!?" Sonic exclaimed.
"There you are, trespasser!" Knuckles swings his fists as Sonic dodges and then kicks a fist, grunting as he can feel the overwhelming amount of chaos energy this echidna holds inside.
The echidna can feel it too, realising that this hedgehog is out of the ordinary.
As Sonic slides behind Knuckles, Knuckles immediately blocks Sonic's fits and then punches his face by making him hit the trees.
Sonic is shocked that this echidna is that powerful without being super.
"Tell me, hedgehog, why did the chaos emeralds choose you!?" Knuckles demands an answer.
"Choose me? I don't know. Maybe I was the chaos emerald." Sonic is half truthful after admitting he's the 7th one in his body a month ago.
"Impossible! No chaos emerald lives inside a child's body!"
"Hey! Aren't you a child too!?" Sonic snapped while raising his fists.
Now Sonic is facing his new opponent that's outside of Eggman, making him think that he must be in cahoots with Eggman.
"I bet Eggman made you his teammate." Sonic asks with a teasing grin.
"Eggman… You will pay for tormenting this man! Do you have a death wish, hedgehog!?" Knuckles points at Sonic with his fist.
"I dunno. But giving him the chaos emeralds is your biggest mistake, echidna!" Sonic prepares himself while standing in his battle position.
"How dare you! I never make a mistake!" Knuckles is gotten to the point that he finally dives towards Sonic as Sonic himself leaps backward and then spin dash towards the red echidna as a golden ball.
After Knuckles catches the golden quill ball, he witnesses so much positive energy with some negative energy on the rise, making him punch the ball toward the ground as the golden ball is still charging towards Knuckles.
No matter how many times Sonic charges towards Knuckles, he gets bounced back and charges towards Knuckles himself.
"Why won't you give up!?" Knuckles yelled.
"Because I'm Sonic the Hedgehog! I'll never give up without a fight!" Sonic replies while dashing forwards with Knuckles sliding backwards while grabbing him.
Before the fight escalates even more, the Tornado appears as Tails and Amy scream after seeing 2 people in front of them, making Sonic and Knuckles jump backwards.
As Sonic's fur fades back to blue, Knuckles is seeing the true appearance of a hedgehog he's up against.
"Sonic the Hedgehog. It seems Tails the Fox and Amy the Hedgehog had arrived. Tell me, what is your goal?" Knuckles asks as he growls.
Sonic remains silent while clenching his fists, knowing that Knuckles is still believing in Eggman without giving him a chance to explain what happened on his side.
"Sonic! What's happening?" Amy asked.
"Why do I feel that there's an abnormal amount of chaos energy from this guy?" Tails asked.
Knuckles squints his eyes, seeing that Tails is covered in chaos energy as well, but less than Sonic.
"Hey! You, bully! What are you doing to Sonic!?" Amy snaps while holding out her Piko Piko Hammer.
"Wait, Amy! We can't fight this guy like this. His chaos energy is just like Sonic's, they're abnormal." Tails points out.
"Hmph. So you too made contact with the chaos emeralds. Then why bring Amy the Hedgehog along if she has no chaos energy inside of her?" Knuckles asks as he's confused.
"Because she's our friend and I let her join before Tails." Sonic answers calmly, knowing that something is off between them and the echidna.
"So not only you three are bullies, but you're delinquents. Disgraceful." Knuckles growled.
"Hey! You take that back!" Amy yelled.
"Mr. Echidna, there must be some misunderstanding." Tails tries to reason with Knuckles, only for him to be ignored.
"Save your breath. Sonic the Hedgehog, the false bearer of the chaos emeralds." Knuckles addresses Sonic as that.
"False? You really have a beef against me, do you?" Sonic clicks his tongue while frowning and folding his arms. "Also where's my sister?"
"Your sister?" Knuckles turn around out of confusion.
"Yeah. She was on this island after we split." Tails explained.
"Do you know where she is?" Amy asked.
"Hmph. And if I don't answer?" Knuckles is taunting the trio, making Sonic approach Knuckles and grab his lowered quill as he exclaimed.
"Then we'll make you answer."
Thus causes Sonic to be punched towards the tree as Tails and Amy rush towards Sonic and yell his name.
"Don't you dare touch me like that. When we meet again, you won't survive our next battle." Knuckles concludes while leaving Sonic sitting and being lifted by Tails and Amy.
Sonic smirks after seeing a new challenge, making him prepare for a rematch someday.
"Heh. This echidna thinks he's good. Tails, Amy, let's keep going." Sonic said while walking.
"Sonic…" Amy whispers with worry.
"Let's go, Amy. I'm sure we can find Tania before Eggman does." Tails said while following Sonic.
Finally, Amy follows behind while worried that Sonic is pushing himself far too much to the point that he's heading straight to suicide.
As for Knuckles, he reencountered Eggman while folding his arms.
"It turns out these delinquents have chaos energy with them and the only one without it is Amy the Hedgehog. Looks like we're gonna have to think about tactics. You look like you know a lot of it, doc." Said Knuckles.
This is Eggman's time to shine as he dashes towards his wrecked Death Egg and then reveals his capsule that appears to be another robot hedgehog.
"We're going to extract some of the chaos energy into this bad boy. I need to borrow your emeralds so I can power this guy and take Sonic down!" Eggman chuckles, knowing that if Metal Sonic works, then this robot will work as well.
Knuckles can see how that'll work, making him look around the machinery.
"It looks like the one from the old legends. The hedgehog and the evil fight for the Master Emerald as a decisive battle. Follow me." Knuckles waves as Eggman follows him towards a different direction.
It's too quiet to the point that it's boring, making Sonic sigh while sitting by the tree.
"Tails. Tell me, why did that echidna look at us weirdly?" Sonic asks while looking at the clear blue sky.
"I don't know. Because of our contacts with the chaos emeralds, we put a target on our backs. Whoever that guy was, he really wants us to hand over the chaos emeralds." Tails answered.
"And let Eggman use them!? No way! We need to get to the bottom of all this."
"So what we need to do is to beat that echidna, find Tania and stop Eggman before he does something far worse than what he did." Tails points out their objectives.
Footsteps are coming as Sonic and Tails turn towards the sound, making Sonic stand up as he and Tails raise their fists.
"Wait. I'm not your enemy." A teenage girl's voice called, making Sonic and Tails lower their guard in confusion.
"Who's there?" Tails asked, worried that the next encounter is going to be similar to Knuckles.
Appearing in front of them is a peach-orange furred echidna girl in tribal clothing, hence her skirt and golden necklace and headband.
"I can feel the presence of the chaos energy from you children. Tell me, how did you bear the chaos emeralds?"
"Well, funny story." Sonic chuckles.
As Sonic recaps how his journey started before entering South Island to now, making the echidna girl gasp.
"So it really is true. The 7th emerald has arrived. You're the chosen one." The echidna says, even Sonic and Tails are confused.
"Excuse me?"
"With all due respect, miss, but how is Sonic the 7th emerald?" Tails asks while turning towards Sonic.
"Well, a month ago, I had an aqua blue emerald out of my heart. So I was thinking how exactly?" Sonic asked.
"So it's all true… I remember your mother before you were born." Said the echidna.
"You did?" Sonic exclaimed, even Tails was shocked about what the echidna said.
"The once Princess Aleena once showed up to this island when she was a child. But her name was changed to Brenda when adopted by the Hedgehog Town civilians and was nicknamed Bernadette by her peers, Bernie by your father Paul Jules the Hedgehog." The echidna explained.
"Mom was a princess?" Sonic didn't know about his bloodline in truth.
"Because she was like you, a child that wanted to go out on adventures and be a cooler version of oneself. I say it's a natural dedication." The echidna giggles.
Sonic and Tails shrug their shoulders until the bushes move.
"Hey guys! Sorry I'm la- Eh!?" Amy halts after seeing an echidna girl in front of her.
"Trust me, I have no idea who she is." Sonic sighed.
"I'm so sorry for my disrespectful attitude." The echidna apologised.
"No no! We didn't know anything!" Tails exclaimed.
The echidna sighs and then bows to the trio.
"I am Tikal, the guardian of Angel Island. It seems you have encountered Knuckles earlier." Tikal the Echidna said.
"You mean that bully's name is Knuckles?" Amy asked.
"Yes. But don't be fooled by his actions, he's actually a good person at heart." Tikal pleads.
Sonic comes to a conclusion that Eggman did mislead Knuckles to go after him, making all the misunderstanding justified.
"So you didn't know your mother was a part of a royal family? If so, how do you feel?" Tikal asks while kneeling in front of Sonic.
"Sonic…" Tails and Amy were surprised that Sonic's mother is a princess that ran from her biological family.
Sonic folds his arms and looks in Tikal's eyes with serious confidence.
"Do I care about that?" Sonic answers the question.
"Huh?" Tails and Amy halt with surprise.
"What?" Tikal is also surprised about Sonic's lack of care towards his bloodline.
"Listen, lady, I only care about where Knuckles and Eggman went and where my sister was at." Sonic concludes his answer.
Tikal heard about what Sonic, Tails and Amy are here for.
"That's right. I saw your sister lost on this very island. When I met her, she's… Kinda hyperactive, even scared that she's getting kidnapped like before. After that, she's very cooperative and I left her at my place."
"So you're saying Tania's still okay?" Tails is making sure.
"Of course. Also, I fear that Dr. Eggman is using Knuckles as a way to take what's important to us." Tikal grunts.
"Trust me. We had to deal with him for months and now he's attacking us with his new partner. The scariest part is that this Knuckles guy has a lot of chaos energy like Sonic, even more than Tails." Said Amy, sighing that more people are bullying her friends every time they visit.
"You know, for someone that lacks the chaos energy and made no contact with the emeralds, you sure do know how the chaos emeralds work." Tikal is curious about Amy's involvement.
"Well, Sonic and Tails has more information about them than I do. I was pointing out how things like these work." Amy explained.
"Enough talk. Take us to Tania. I want to see her again." Sonic frowns while lowering his head.
Tikal can tell how much Sonic misses his sister after Eggman's attack.
"Okay. The three of you come with me. I'll take you over to my place." Tikal comes to a conclusion that Sonic and his friends are unlike what Eggman described them as, leading to her fearing what Knuckles will end up becoming. "But may you introduce yourselves."
"I'm Miles Prower. It's okay if you call me Tails." Tails introduces himself while scratching his head.
"Amy Rose! It's nice to meet you, Miss Tikal!" Amy cheerfully introduces herself to Tikal.
"I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog." Sonic calls himself by his alias, knowing that he's changed a lot overtime.
After their introduction, Tikal is leading a trio of children towards the direction to where a broken Death Egg is at.
