For most of the day, Sonic noticed that Shadow was quiet but paid attention in class along with taking notes impressing him at Shadow's attentiveness knowing the other kids in their grade were curious about the mysterious new kid who called himself Shads which Shadow had shyly introduced himself to his peers only Gym class was approaching so Sonic had Teack team practice hoping Shadow would be okay.

"That's not a surprise you're on the track team, Sonic. I think I'll be okay." Shadow mumbled as he joined the others unaware a kid had heard them so was being a jerk making Shadow mad starting a fight as the kids watched including the coach as there was a spit open on the wrestling team making Shadow curious as the coach explained making him smirk meaning he could use what he did to bad guys could be used in wrestling accepting knowing Sonic would be impressed only Tom or Maddie had to sign the permission slip.

"I'll get it signed. Thanks." Shadow aaid softly hearing the bell ring as it was lunch.

"Whoa, you're gonna be on the wrestling team that's good. Plus I guess that's what everybody's talking about only Maddie might not be kosher aboht this. Maria will be surprised too but you've experience in this." Sonic told him.

It was lunchtime and Sonic was checking in on Shadow hearing there'd been a commotion in Gym class but surprised Shadow would be on the wrestling team which meant it would help him fit in at school hearing his friends call him over making Shadow nod. "Go be with your friends, I'm okay." Shadow said seeing Sonic leave Shadow's table seeing him readibg knowing he loved books because Maddie was helping him get a library card.

"Sonic, you didn't tell us Shads is actually Shadow. Is he alright." Alice asked.

"Yeah he's okay, and just very shy. He'll get used to things here." Sonic told her. He noticed Shadow putting his tray away after eating but reading the book they'd been assigned in English which had Edgar Allen Poe stories guessing the book was perfect for Shadow but he was having a hard time with it plus they had to write about their favourite story hearing the bell as Shadow put a lavender bookmark in the lace he'd stopped at following Sonic to their next class imagining about if Maria was in their class with them smiling as in Art, they were making murals giving Shadow ideas but could talk to Maria about them later and maybe read some of his book to her seeing Sonic impressed by his ideas.

"Thanks as the teacher likes them too." Shadow told him wiping a tear away.

"Thinking about Maria huh. She'd ne proud of you." Sonic told him.

He knew Maria was a very touchy subject for Shadow so was very careful but surprised the black-brown furred male wanted to put some of his memories of him and Maria in his mural making Shadow nod. "I'm going to talk to. Her about it later and maybe read to her." Shadow told him hearing the final bell ring as he was going home with Maddie as Sonic had baseball peactice so could ask her, aboht signing his slip to join the wrestling team which he could tell her after doing homework which he was doing after they got home impressing Maddie, that like Tails, Shadow was great with homework stunned he was joining the wrestling team.

"We'll think about it, Shadow." Maddie told him making him sigh nodding.
