Section 2: A Friendship Torn Asunder

The Road to Ruin

Elias moved like a phantom through the city streets, his kinetic energy propelling him forward in bursts of electric speed. Hosu blurred into streaks of light and shadow, its rain-soaked streets reflecting the neon haze of the city's underbelly. But no matter how fast he ran, he couldn't outrun the memories that clawed at the edges of his mind.

The wind screamed past his ears, a roar that should have drowned out his thoughts. Yet, as he neared the docks, his mind was an unrelenting storm, pulling him back to a time when everything had started to unravel.

Once, he had been at the pinnacle of hero society. A prodigy. A name whispered with awe and respect. Blitzstrike—the rising star of Shiketsu High, the hero who had climbed the ranks with relentless determination and a quirk as devastating as it was awe-inspiring. He had been ranked fifth among Japan's top heroes, standing shoulder to shoulder with legends like Ingenium and Hawks.

But the fall from grace was as swift as his rise.

The world turned against him the day Sakura Kodai entered his life.

The Catalyst

Elias could still remember the moment his world began to crumble. It had started with a routine mission, a confrontation with a villain who had taken hostages in a bank. Elias had arrived on the scene like a thunderbolt, his kinetic blasts reducing barriers to rubble, his super-speed disarming threats before they could react.

But this villain was no ordinary foe. He called himself Razor, a man whose quirk turned his very bones into lethal weapons. The battle was brutal, a clash of raw power and cunning, and in the end, Elias had been left with no choice.

Razor had a hostage in his grasp—a terrified child, his razor-sharp bones pressed against the boy's throat. Elias had tried negotiation, tactics, but Razor's madness was unyielding. When Razor made a move to kill the child, Elias acted instinctively, unleashing a blast of energy that tore through the villain's chest.

The child was saved, but the damage was done.

Sakura's Leverage

The media descended like vultures, dissecting every second of the encounter. Razor's death was caught on camera, and while the footage painted Elias as a hero to some, it also exposed him as a killer. The line between hero and executioner blurred, and public opinion split down the middle.

In the weeks that followed, Elias's ranking plummeted. Sponsors withdrew their support. Critics labeled him reckless, dangerous. He became a pariah in the very society he had vowed to protect.

And that was when Sakura Kodai appeared.

Sakura's Leverage: The Chains That Bound Him

The First Meeting

The day Elias met Sakura Kodai felt like a lifeline in an ocean of despair. He was drowning—his reputation tarnished, his name whispered in scornful tones throughout the hero community. The incident with Razor had not only cost him his standing but had also shattered the image he'd worked so hard to build. He was no longer the rising star of Shiketsu High. Blitzstrike, once ranked fifth among Japan's top heroes, had become a cautionary tale of a hero's hubris.

When Sakura first approached him, her presence was almost ethereal. She exuded a calm authority, her steps precise, her words soft yet commanding. She found him in his agency's dimly lit office, a space that now seemed too large and empty since most of his staff had left.

"You're Elias Hayate," she said, her voice smooth like silk gliding over steel. "I've been following your career."

He looked up from the stack of documents he was attempting to read—paperwork meant to salvage what was left of his career. Her presence was magnetic, her tailored suit accentuating a figure that seemed sculpted for command. Her eyes were sharp, calculating, yet there was a warmth in them that made his guard falter.

"I'm not much of a career to follow anymore," he replied bitterly, his voice rough from sleepless nights.

She smiled, a small curve of her lips that didn't reach her eyes. "I disagree. You're a valuable asset, Elias. You've simply… lost your way. Perhaps I can help."

At the time, her offer seemed genuine—a lifeline thrown to a man drowning in his failures. She spoke of restoring his image, of using her connections to rehabilitate his reputation. Elias, desperate and blinded by the hope of redemption, accepted her help without hesitation.

The Unveiling of the Trap

The first cracks in the façade appeared weeks later. Sakura invited him to her estate, a sprawling mansion nestled on the outskirts of the city. It was a place of opulence and power, with marble floors that gleamed like mirrors and chandeliers that seemed to hold entire constellations within their crystal prisms.

As they walked through the grand halls, Sakura began to reveal her true intentions.

"I have something to show you," she said, leading him to a private study. The room was dark, illuminated only by the glow of a large screen on the far wall. She gestured for him to sit, her demeanor as composed as ever.

The screen flickered to life, and Elias's stomach dropped.

It was the unedited footage of the Razor incident. The angles were different from what the media had aired—more personal, more damning. It captured every second of the battle, from Razor's taunts to Elias's final, devastating attack. The sound of Razor's screams echoed in the room, followed by the deafening silence of his death.

Elias's hands clenched the arms of his chair. "Where did you get this?" he demanded, his voice low and dangerous.

Sakura didn't flinch. Instead, she tilted her head slightly, as if amused by his reaction. "I have my sources," she said simply. "What matters is that I have it."

Her words hung in the air like a guillotine. The weight of what she was implying pressed down on him, suffocating.

"I saved a child," Elias said through gritted teeth. "That's what happened."

"And yet," Sakura countered, her tone smooth as silk, "you killed a man in the process. A man who, for all his crimes, didn't deserve to die. The public already questions your judgment. Imagine what they'd think if they saw this."

Elias's jaw tightened. "What do you want?"

Her smile widened, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "I want your cooperation."

The Chains Tighten

At first, her demands seemed almost reasonable. She asked him to investigate corrupt heroes, to expose the rot within the system. It was still hero work, still aligned with his morals. But the missions began to change. She started asking him to target individuals who were not just corrupt but also obstacles to her own ambitions.

One night, she sent him after a pro hero named Valor. On paper, Valor was a hero, but whispers in the underground suggested otherwise. Sakura claimed he was involved in human trafficking, and she provided evidence that seemed damning. Elias hesitated but ultimately complied, taking down Valor and delivering the evidence to the authorities.

It wasn't until later that he learned the truth. Valor had been a vocal opponent of Sakura's growing influence in hero politics. The evidence she had shown him was fabricated. Elias had unwittingly eliminated a thorn in her side.

He confronted her, his anger boiling over. "You lied to me," he growled, slamming his fists on her desk.

Sakura remained unbothered, her expression calm. "And you acted, didn't you? That's what matters."

"You used me!" he shouted, his voice cracking with rage.

She rose from her chair, her movements deliberate and unhurried. "I gave you purpose, Elias," she said, her tone sharp. "Do you think the world still sees you as a hero? Do you think you can climb out of the hole you've dug yourself into without my help?"

Her words cut deep because they were true. He was trapped, and she knew it.

The Control Deepens

Sakura began to assert more dominance over Elias, blurring the lines between professional and personal. She would summon him to her estate at odd hours, often under the guise of discussing missions. But the discussions became something else entirely.

One evening, as he sat in her study, she leaned closer than necessary, her fingers brushing his arm. "You're a fascinating man, Elias," she said softly. "So much power, so much potential. And yet, you let the world crush you."

He shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to respond. "I didn't let anything happen. The world turned on me."

She tilted her head, her eyes locking onto his. "And yet, here you are. Kneeling before me, begging for redemption."

The word "kneeling" sent a shiver down his spine. It was a calculated choice, meant to remind him of his submission. And in that moment, he hated her as much as he hated himself.

The Public Unveiling

Sakura's control over Elias reached its zenith when she leaked a portion of the Razor footage. It was a calculated move, designed to remind him of her power while further isolating him from the hero community.

The edited footage painted Elias as a reckless vigilante. Public opinion turned against him even more sharply, and he dropped from rank 5 to rank 15 within weeks. Sponsors abandoned him, and his name became synonymous with controversy.

Through it all, Sakura remained by his side, her voice a constant reminder of his failures. "They'll hate you without me," she would whisper. "But with me, you can still be useful."

The Breaking Point

Elias reached his breaking point the day Sakura involved his girlfriend. He had tried to maintain some semblance of a normal life, clinging to the one relationship that kept him grounded. But Sakura saw it as a weakness to exploit.

His girlfriend disappeared without warning, and Elias's world collapsed. Days later, Sakura summoned him to her estate and showed him a video of his girlfriend tied to a chair, her face bruised and tear-streaked.

"Follow through with your assignment," Sakura said, her tone devoid of emotion, "or she pays the price."

Elias obeyed. He had no choice.

The Aftermath

Elias eventually rescued his girlfriend, but the damage was done. The trauma of the experience drove her away, and he was left alone once more. In his anger and grief, he confronted Sakura, threatening to expose her.

She responded by playing the unedited footage of the Razor incident in front of him, her smile never wavering. "This is your reminder, Elias," she said. "Step out of line again, and I'll destroy what little you have left."

From that day on, Elias stopped resisting. He became a tool in Sakura's arsenal, a hero bound by chains of guilt and manipulation.

But the fire in his heart never truly died. Deep down, he vowed to break free of her control, no matter the cost.

The Kodai Estate: Bonds and Manipulations

A Light in the Darkness

Elias Hayate had not expected much from the dinner invitation. When Mangetsu Kodai, the pro hero known as Bitsize, had asked him to come over for a meal, Elias assumed it was out of pity. He had fallen far—dropped from fifth place in the hero rankings to fifteenth—and many of his former allies now avoided him, unwilling to tarnish their reputations by associating with a "disgraced" hero. But Mangetsu had been different.

The man had a warmth about him, an unwavering kindness that contrasted sharply with the competitive ruthlessness of the hero world. He had seen Elias at his lowest and extended a hand.

"You're coming over," Mangetsu had said after one of their patrols. His tone left no room for argument. "Yui's been dying to meet the famous Blitzstrike. She's your biggest fan."

Elias had tried to protest. "I don't think that's a good idea, Mangetsu. People talk. You don't need my baggage."

Mangetsu had waved him off. "Let them talk. A hero isn't defined by public opinion, Elias. It's about the work we do. And you've done plenty of good, even if some people are too blind to see it."

The sincerity in Mangetsu's voice had struck a chord in Elias, and for the first time in months, he allowed himself to believe that not everyone had turned against him.

The Estate

The Kodai estate was breathtaking. Nestled in a quiet suburb on the outskirts of Hosu, it exuded a sense of peace and grandeur. The sprawling mansion, with its pristine white walls and ivy-covered stone, looked like something out of a storybook. Cherry blossom trees lined the driveway, their petals scattering in the breeze like pink snow.

Elias felt out of place the moment he stepped inside. The polished marble floors gleamed under the warm glow of chandeliers, and the faint scent of lavender lingered in the air. Everything about the house spoke of wealth and elegance—two things Elias had never known growing up in the orphanage.

Mangetsu greeted him with his usual grin, his arm slung casually around Elias's shoulder as he guided him into the dining room.

"You'll love the food," Mangetsu said. "Sakura's got a talent for making meals that could put restaurants to shame."

At the mention of Sakura, Elias tensed, but Mangetsu didn't notice.

The Shocking Revelation

It wasn't until dinner that Elias realized the truth.

He was seated at the long dining table, across from a young girl with bright eyes and an infectious smile. Yui Kodai, Mangetsu's daughter, had been chattering non-stop about how cool Blitzstrike was. She peppered him with questions about his quirk, his battles, and his training. Her enthusiasm was genuine, and Elias found himself relaxing slightly in her presence.

Then she entered the room.

"Dinner is ready," came a smooth, familiar voice that sent ice racing down Elias's spine.

He looked up and froze. Sakura Kodai stood in the doorway, a picture of grace and poise. Her smile was warm and welcoming, but Elias knew the steel that lay beneath it.

No. It couldn't be.

"Mangetsu," she said, her gaze flickering briefly to Elias before returning to her husband. "Aren't you going to introduce me to your guest?"

Mangetsu beamed. "Of course! Elias, this is my wife, Sakura."

Elias's blood ran cold. His mind raced, the implications crashing down on him like a tidal wave. This was her house. She was his wife.

She turned her attention to him, her smile never wavering. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Elias. Mangetsu has told me so much about you."

Elias forced himself to nod, his throat too dry to speak.

Dinner with the Devil

Throughout dinner, Elias was painfully aware of Sakura's presence. She played the role of the gracious host flawlessly, laughing at Mangetsu's jokes and engaging Yui in conversation. But every now and then, her gaze would flicker to Elias, and he could see the warning in her eyes.

Play along.

He did his best to focus on the meal, which was as exquisite as Mangetsu had promised. The roast beef was tender, the vegetables perfectly seasoned, and the wine smooth. But Elias could barely taste any of it.

"So, Blitzstrike," Mangetsu said, breaking into his thoughts. "What's next for you? Any plans to climb back up the rankings?"

Elias hesitated. "I'm… taking things one step at a time."

Mangetsu nodded. "Good. You've got talent, Elias. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

Sakura's voice cut in, smooth and honeyed. "He's right, you know. You've been through a lot, but I can see the fire in you hasn't gone out."

Elias barely managed a tight smile in response.

A Bond with Yui

After dinner, Mangetsu suggested they move to the living room for tea. Yui insisted on showing Elias her collection of hero merchandise, dragging him to a cabinet filled with action figures, posters, and trading cards.

"Look!" she said, holding up a limited-edition Blitzstrike figure. "I got this one last year. It's my favorite."

Elias knelt to her level, a genuine smile tugging at his lips for the first time that evening. "You've got good taste, Yui. That's a rare one."

Her eyes sparkled with excitement. "Do you think you could sign it? Please?"

"Of course," Elias said, taking the figure and a marker she handed him.

As he scribbled his signature, he felt a pang of guilt. Yui idolized him, and yet here he was, tangled in a web of lies and deceit. She deserved better.

"You're so cool," she said, beaming at him. "I want to be a hero just like you when I grow up."

Elias's chest tightened. He ruffled her hair gently. "You'll be an amazing hero, Yui. I know it."

Sakura's Games

Later that evening, while Mangetsu stepped out to take a phone call, Sakura cornered Elias in the hallway.

"You've done well," she said, her tone low and dangerous. "But remember, Mangetsu doesn't need to know about our… arrangement."

Elias glared at her, his fists clenched at his sides. "Why didn't you tell me you were his wife?"

Her lips curved into a sly smile. "Would it have changed anything? You're mine, Elias. Mangetsu's kindness doesn't change that."

"You're playing a dangerous game," he said through gritted teeth.

Sakura stepped closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "The only danger here is if you forget your place. Mangetsu adores you, Elias. Imagine how heartbroken he'd be if he learned the truth. Do you really want to hurt him?"

Elias's jaw tightened, his silence giving her all the confirmation she needed.

"Good," she said, patting his cheek mockingly. "Now, smile. Mangetsu's coming back."

A Friendship Tested

Despite the suffocating presence of Sakura, Elias found solace in his bond with Mangetsu and Yui. Mangetsu became a confidant, offering advice and encouragement when Elias felt like giving up.

"You're stronger than this," Mangetsu told him one evening after a long patrol. "You've got a good heart, Elias. Don't let the world take that from you."

Yui, too, became a source of light in his life. Her admiration and innocence reminded him of why he had become a hero in the first place.

But the shadow of Sakura loomed over everything. Elias lived in constant fear of her manipulations, knowing that one wrong move could shatter the fragile bonds he had built with Mangetsu and Yui.

Foreshadowing the Fall

As Elias left the Kodai estate that night, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was walking a tightrope over a chasm. His friendship with Mangetsu and Yui meant everything to him, but Sakura's control was absolute.

He glanced back at the mansion, its windows glowing warmly against the dark sky. It was a picture of perfection on the outside, but Elias knew the truth.

And he knew it was only a matter of time before everything came crashing down.

A Friendship Forged in Shadows

Mangetsu's Light

Elias sat on the edge of the couch in the Kodai living room, a warm cup of tea cradled between his hands. The steam rose lazily, carrying with it the faint scent of jasmine. Mangetsu Kodai reclined in the chair across from him, his easy smile as welcoming as the room's soft glow.

"Relax, man," Mangetsu chuckled, noticing Elias's stiff posture. "This isn't some kind of formal hero gala. We're just two friends hanging out."

Elias tried to relax, sinking back into the plush cushions. "Sorry. I'm not used to this."

"What? Good company?" Mangetsu teased, his laughter filling the room.

Elias smirked despite himself. "No, just… peace."

Mangetsu nodded, his expression softening. "Yeah, I get that. The world's a loud place for guys like us. But you've gotta find your moments of quiet, Elias. Otherwise, the noise will drown you."

The words struck a chord in Elias. For months, he had been consumed by the chaos of his plummeting reputation, the guilt of his past, and the ever-tightening grip of Sakura's control. But here, in Mangetsu's home, there was a strange sense of normalcy. It felt foreign and fragile, but it was something Elias wanted to hold onto, even if only for a little while.

The Anchor of Friendship

Elias hadn't always known Mangetsu Kodai. Their paths crossed during a joint patrol between their agencies shortly after Elias's fall in the rankings. At the time, Elias was a shadow of his former self—a man weighed down by guilt and isolation.

Mangetsu had seen through the cracks almost immediately.

"Hey, Blitzstrike," he'd said during their first patrol. "You ever smile anymore, or is that just not your thing?"

Elias had scowled, brushing him off. But Mangetsu didn't give up. Over the course of the night, he kept cracking jokes, telling stories about ridiculous villain encounters, and sharing anecdotes from his life as a hero.

By the end of the patrol, Elias found himself smiling—genuinely smiling—for the first time in weeks.

"You're not so bad," Elias had admitted reluctantly.

Mangetsu had grinned. "Stick with me, kid. I'll teach you how to enjoy life again."

Dinner Table Stories

Back in the present, Mangetsu's laughter echoed through the dining room as he regaled Elias with stories about his early days as a hero.

"So there I was," Mangetsu began, leaning forward with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Face-to-face with this guy calling himself 'The Colander.' His whole shtick was strapping kitchen utensils to himself like armor. And let me tell you, he took it seriously."

Elias raised an eyebrow. "Kitchen utensils?"

"Yup. Pots, pans, ladles—you name it. The guy even had a colander strapped to his chest like some kind of makeshift breastplate."

Yui giggled from her seat, clearly familiar with the story. "Didn't he use spatulas as weapons?"

"Oh, absolutely," Mangetsu said, nodding emphatically. "He tried to smack me with a frying pan at one point. I was laughing so hard I almost let him get away."

Elias chuckled, shaking his head. "You have the strangest luck with villains, Mangetsu."

Mangetsu grinned. "What can I say? The weird ones are drawn to me."

A Father's Pride

The conversation shifted to Yui, and Mangetsu's expression softened. "You know," he said, glancing fondly at his daughter, "this little one's the best thing I've ever done. I don't care how many villains I take down or how many people I save—being her dad is what I'm most proud of."

Yui blushed, burying her face in her hands. "Dad, stop embarrassing me!"

Mangetsu laughed, reaching over to ruffle her hair. "Come on, Yui. Let me have my moment."

Elias watched the exchange with a mix of warmth and envy. He'd never had a family growing up, and seeing the bond between Mangetsu and Yui was both heartwarming and bittersweet.

"She looks up to you, you know," Mangetsu said, turning to Elias. "Every time you're on TV, she's glued to the screen. You're her hero."

Yui nodded vigorously. "You're so cool, Blitzstrike! You're fast, and strong, and your energy blasts are awesome!"

Elias felt his cheeks heat under their praise. "Thanks, Yui. That means a lot."

The Shadow of Sakura

As the evening wore on, the conversation inevitably turned to Mangetsu's wife.

"Sakura's amazing," Mangetsu said, his voice filled with admiration. "She's the smartest person I know. Back when we first met, she was already running circles around me in every conversation. I didn't stand a chance."

Elias forced a smile, his stomach twisting into knots.

"She's got this way of seeing the big picture," Mangetsu continued. "Always ten steps ahead. It's why I married her. She's my rock, my partner in everything."

Elias's grip on his teacup tightened.

Mangetsu seemed to notice his discomfort. "You okay, Elias? You've been quiet."

"I'm fine," Elias said quickly, avoiding Mangetsu's gaze. "Just… tired."

Mangetsu studied him for a moment before nodding. "Fair enough. You've had a rough time lately. If you ever need someone to talk to, you know where to find me."

Suspicion Takes Root

Later that night, as Mangetsu walked Elias to the door, he placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey," he said, his tone serious. "I don't know what's going on with you, but you're not alone, okay? Whatever it is, we'll figure it out."

Elias nodded, unable to meet his friend's eyes.

Mangetsu smiled, his usual warmth returning. "Get some rest. And don't be a stranger."

As Elias stepped out into the cool night air, he couldn't shake the weight of Mangetsu's words. The man had been a beacon of light in his life, a friend when he had no one else. And yet, Elias was caught in a web of lies and manipulation that threatened to destroy everything.

He glanced back at the estate, the warm glow of its windows a stark contrast to the darkness that loomed within.

"I'm sorry, Mangetsu," he whispered. "You deserve better."

With a heavy heart, Elias turned and walked away, knowing that the bonds he had formed with Mangetsu and Yui were built on a foundation of deceit—and that one day, the truth would come crashing down.

A Night Summons

The Kodai estate was unnervingly quiet as Elias approached, the night wrapping around the mansion like a velvet shroud. The towering walls of the home seemed to loom larger under the pale light of the moon, their surfaces casting jagged shadows that crawled across the meticulously trimmed hedges. Every step Elias took felt heavier than the last, the weight of what awaited inside pressing against his chest.

Sakura had summoned him.

His phone buzzed earlier that evening, her message curt but commanding: "Come tonight. 10 PM sharp. Use the side door."

He had hesitated for a fleeting moment, considering the possibility of ignoring her. But the memory of her eyes—sharp and merciless, like a hawk's—made that thought dissolve into ash. Elias knew better than to disobey.

As he stepped through the discreet side entrance, a cold gust of air seemed to trail him, brushing against his neck as if the estate itself were alive and aware of his presence. He moved silently through the narrow hallway, his senses sharp, ears straining for any sound that might indicate Mangetsu or Yui were nearby. The faint creak of the floorboards under his boots felt deafening, the sound ricocheting in his skull.

The Study of Shadows

When Elias reached the study, the door was already ajar, a faint golden light spilling out into the hallway. He pushed it open and stepped inside.

Sakura sat at the desk, her posture immaculate, as though she had been carved from stone. She didn't look up immediately, her pen gliding across a sheet of paper with precise strokes. The soft scratching of ink against parchment filled the air, a sound that set his teeth on edge.

"You're late," she said finally, her voice as smooth and cold as polished marble.

Elias checked the time. "It's 10 PM exactly."

Sakura glanced up, her lips curving into a faint smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Punctuality is important, Elias. But so is eagerness. Something you lack."

He didn't respond, his jaw tightening as he waited for her to speak.

With a graceful motion, Sakura set her pen down and gestured to the chair across from her. "Sit."

He obeyed, sinking into the chair, his body tense.

She leaned back, steepling her fingers as she studied him. "You've been distant lately," she remarked, her tone deceptively casual. "Distracted. That won't do."

"I've been handling your assignments," Elias replied, his voice clipped. "Efficiently."

Sakura tilted her head, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Efficiently, yes. But without heart."

Revisiting the Past

Without warning, Sakura reached for a remote control on the desk and pressed a button. The large monitor on the wall flickered to life, displaying a familiar scene that made Elias's stomach churn.

The footage.

There it was again, in high definition—the moment he had ended Razor's life. The villain's mocking laughter, the escalating violence, and then the fatal blow. The audio of Razor's final, strangled breath filled the room, a haunting reminder of that terrible day.

Elias's fists clenched, his nails digging into his palms. "Why do you keep showing me this?" he growled, his voice low.

"Because it's who you are," Sakura replied, her tone light but laced with steel. She stood, her movements deliberate, and walked around the desk until she was standing directly in front of him.

Her gaze bore into his, unrelenting. "You're a weapon, Elias. A soldier. That's what makes you valuable."

Elias looked away, his jaw tightening further. "I saved a child that day."

"And you killed a man," she countered, her voice soft but cutting. "That fierceness, that willingness to cross the line—that's what makes you different. It's what makes you useful to me."

The Power Dynamic

Sakura reached out, her fingers brushing against his face. The touch was light, almost tender, but it carried an undercurrent of dominance that made his skin crawl.

"You're not like Mangetsu," she said, her tone almost wistful. "He's strong, yes, but… limited. He follows the rules. You don't."

Elias stiffened, his breathing shallow.

"That's why I admire you," Sakura continued, her voice dropping to a near-whisper. "You do what needs to be done, no matter the cost."

Her fingers trailed down to his chin, tilting his face upward so that their eyes met. "Kneel," she said, her voice commanding but laced with a dangerous sweetness.

Elias hesitated, his heart pounding in his chest. He could feel the weight of her gaze, the silent threat that lingered behind it.

"Kneel, Elias," she repeated, her smile widening. "Don't make me repeat myself again."

Slowly, reluctantly, he slid out of the chair and lowered himself to one knee.

"Good," she murmured, her fingers trailing through his hair like he was a prized possession. "You learn quickly."

A New Target

Sakura leaned down, her lips brushing against his forehead before she stepped back. "You've done well so far," she said, moving back to her desk. "But there's more to be done."

She pulled out a folder and placed it on the desk. "This is your next target. A pro hero who's been getting… too curious about my operations. I need you to send him a message."

Elias stood, his fists clenching at his sides. "What kind of message?"

Sakura's smile turned cold. "His family. Make them understand the consequences of disobedience."

Elias's stomach twisted, a wave of nausea washing over him. "You want me to threaten his family?"

"No," she said, her tone light. "I want you to make sure he knows what will happen if he doesn't back off. Use your imagination."

He stared at her, his chest heaving. "And if I refuse?"

Sakura leaned forward, her expression darkening. "You know what will happen, Elias. Don't pretend otherwise."

The False Promise

Sakura's tone softened suddenly, her smile returning. "But if you continue to prove your loyalty, there are opportunities for you. Your public image could change. You could rise in the rankings again, become the hero you always wanted to be."

Elias's throat tightened. The words were tempting, but they were laced with poison. He knew better than to believe them.

Sakura stepped closer, placing a hand on his chest. "You've come so far, Elias. Don't throw it all away now."

He swallowed hard, his mind a storm of conflicting emotions.

"I'll do it," he said finally, his voice hollow.

Sakura's smile widened, and she leaned in, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Good soldier," she murmured.

As Elias left the study, the weight of her control pressing down on him like a physical force, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was sinking deeper into a pit he might never escape.
