Yami, Alice, and Amai were in the observation room for a lab with Mai.

The test for today is none other than Yami's new Grimm.

First up was one that looked like a giant armadillo. And was dubbed, the Low Roller.

The Low Roller went belly up, and a person-sized doll was placed inside it, before the creature rolled into a ball, completely encapsulated by its armor.

"All signs seem good," Mai said. The doll was made to test how a person would fare inside of the Grimm. "They didn't get crushed, and oxygen levels are good."

While the Grimm's armor had no real holes, the air was able to get through some of the segmented parts, allowing oxygen to reach the person inside. However anything other than air would get caught in a special filter and pushed out. Making sure that the Low Roller could get people even through areas where the air was hazardous.

It even had an air storage section that would allow it to keep the person inside breathing when there was no oxygen outside. At least while the oxygen supply lasted.

"Begginging the first test," Mai said. "Commencing roll."

Next, the Low Roller started rolling around. The Grimm was made to protect and escort people to safe places, so naturally they had to make sure that all the rolling around wouldn't harm the person inside.

"Alright, everything seems fine. The pitch black environment and the padding make it so the person inside shouldn't even be able to tell they're moving, this avoiding nausea." Mai surmised, looking down at the kids with a smile. "You've done a great job with this one kids."

The kids all smiled back, looking very pleased so far with how the test was going.

"Alright, next we'll be testing its digging functions," Mai said.

Suddenly, the plates shifted, as it went from rolling mode to digging mode, and started digging through the dirt floor, going underground.

"Alright, it's dug through the first layer," Mai said.

Next, underneath the dirt was a layer of concrete, which the High Roller took a few seconds to crack before going through that as well.

"Alright, it looks like it can go through most common materials used in floors, streets, etc," Mai said. "Surfacing."

The Low Roller came up through the ground, ready for the next test.

Soldiers came in, holding various Midoriya Foundation weaponry.

"Open fire!" Mai said.

Then they all fired. Guns, lasers, Bazokas, flamethrowers, everything, and the kitchen sink.

And none of it even so much as scratch the Low Roller.

"All signs good. No damage done to the person inside." Mai said.

"Alright!" Amai cheered.

"Now let's move on to the heavy stuff," Mai said. "All units fall back."

All the soldiers exited the room, and Tokoshi entered.

"Well then, let us see the fruits of the young master's labors," Tokoshi said as he approached the Low Roller.

He cocked back his arm and then-

WHAM!

He punched the Low Roller as hard as he could, sending it flying into the wall and creating a massive crack in its armor.

Alice and Amai both tensed up, seeing the Grimm take significant damage.

Mai looked at the readings from the doll. "The armor took significant damage, but the person inside is fine. Looks like you did a good job with shock distribution."

All three kids released a sigh of relief.

WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!

Tokoshi continued to wail on the Low Roller until he finally made a hole in the armor.

"Looks like that's all it could take," Mai said. "Of course taking this much from someone like Tokoshi is an impressive feat."

"Yeah, I guess it's pretty hard to find someone with Mr Tokoshis's strength," Amai said. "Plus the Low Roller would be moving around so he wouldn't be able to hit it that much."

"Well then, let's dispose of this one, and start testing against other things," Mai said.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

They continued testing the Low Roller against outside forces.

Extreme heat and cold. Electricity. Poison gases. Etc. And while the Grimm was far from invincible, it consistently took a lot of power in order to harm it, or the person it was carrying.

"Alright, now it's time for the next Grimm," Mai said. "Genbu."

Down in the testing chamber, a new Grimm was placed inside.

It was a turtle the size of a van, with a thick black shell.

The Grimm levitated up onto its back and opened up what looked like a doorway on the bottom part of its shell.

This Grimm possessed a very, very unique ability among most Grimm.

Space Manipulation.

The first way Genbu manipulated space was its internal storage area.

As the researchers threw the doll inside the Grimm, they noticed that the space inside the Grimm was MUCH larger than the Grimm itself. Able to fit dozens of people. Maybe even a hundred if they squeezed together.

Of course, it also possessed the ability to move itself through space in any way it pleased. Namely in the form of levitation.

The Grimm rolled back onto its feet and then tucked itself completely into its shell, the holes closing shut, making it an armored fortress. This was its absolute defense mode.

This time they didn't bother testing normal weaponry, they went straight to Tokoshi.

Tokoshi cracked his knuckles and approached Genbu.

He cocked back his fist and punched the Grimm.

And it did nothing.

"Ah!" The Butler's eyes widened, and the children's eyes glowed with joy.

Tokoshi kept trying to punch it, but none of his blows did any damage or even moved the Grimm.

That was due to two things.

One was of course its amazingly sturdy armor.

The second involved its ability to manipulate space.

Whenever something impacted its shell, its shell would automatically spread the impact throughout the entire shell. Making it much less potent.

It also was using its ability to keep it locked in that space. Completely unable to move or be moved while in this mode.

Tokoshi eventually got tired after punching the creature and not making a dent, and suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Alright, let me take a crack at it old timer." Gamma 2 said as he approached Genbu.

"Very well, good look with that young…man?" Tokoshi said, not sure how to address the android.

"Oh, I'm not just a man. I'm HIM." Gamma 2 said as he cocked his arm, back, and punched Genbu.

BOON!

The room shook as Gamma 2 hit the shell, shaking it, but not doing damage.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! HA!" Gamma 2 started punching the shell with incredible speed and force, continuing to lay blows onto on spot, until Genbu's suddenly.

CRACK!

Genbu's entire shell started to crack apart.

"Whew! Alright!" Gamma 2 cheered.

And then, the damage simply unmade itself.

This was another use of its ability to bend space.

You see nothing could be created or destroyed. Even when you eradicate, crush, or burn something, you are simply changing that matter into something else.

As such, Genbu has the ability to simply move its own matter back into place on an atomic level. Pretty much undoing any damage done to the creature.

"Wow, this thing really is an invincible fortress." Gamma 2 said.

"Awesome!" Alice said.

"It was able to stand up to an assault from someone half as strong as All Might." Amai marveled.

"Well Gamma 2 could probably break it if hadn't stopped, but it is incredible for it to withstand THIS much." Mai said. "Now for the next test. Tenko, Shuku, if you'd please."

The two boys entered the room and approached the turtle.

Tenko went first and touched the shell with all five fingers, and willed it to explode.

But nothing happened.

"Woah." Tenko marveled at the Turtel, while Shuku went up, and tried to make it explode. Once again, nothing happened.

"Interesting," Shuku said.

"I have to admit, I wasn't sure this would work. But this was a pretty ingenious part of the design." Mai praised.

Of course when making a kind of shield, one had to take into account people with quirks that could negate durability altogether.

The key to stopping that kind of thing was understanding how it worked in the first place.

Most quirks that worked like Tenko and Shuku's worked by injecting their kind of chaos energy into a person or object, and that energy bent that person or object to its will on cellular, molecular, or atomic levels.

As such, Genbu had the ability to reject energy injections.

Well at least to a point.

It was more of a resistance rather than an immunity.

As a quirk could overpower Genbu and do its job anyway, Theoretically, if Shuku was mad enough, he could overpower Genbu and make it explode.

"Alright, let's try one more special thing." Mai said. "Mr Giza."

Giza walked into the room, wielding a sword inside of a sheath.

When he reached Genbu, he unsheathed the sword.

This sword was made using the blades of the Shredder. And thus possessed the ability to split things using spacial manipulation as well.

It was time to see how Genbu fared against a similar ability used in the exact opposite way.

Giza raised his sword, and then.

CLANG!

He slammed it down into Genbu's shell, leaving a small slash in the shell before it repaired itself.

"I see. Since the sword possesses a greater level of power than Genbu, it was able to overcome Genbu's ability for the most part. Although the damage did seem to be reduced." Mai said.

"I guess that's the best we could hope for," Alice said.

"This is truly a remarkable creature," Giza said as he sheathed his sword. "However, I can not imagine it was cheap to produce."

Yami nodded.

That was the real weakness of Genbu. It costs a ridiculous amount of energy to make one. Meaning that even if he used up all the negative energy he had in reserves and in the Abyss, he'd only be able to make a few of them.

"Well these can always be used in emergency situations," Mai said. "After all, having something this powerful to defend the kids here, or Izuku would be a true relief. I honestly think we could talk the H.P.S.C. into letting us use these now."

"Really! But that would kinda make Yami like, a pro hero!" Alice gasped in excitement, and Yami just looked at the scientist with wide eyes.

"Well it's not like you'd be able to act as a pro hero, but seeing these things can act under heroes' orders and can be used to save so many lives, I don't see why we should wait to use them," Mai said. "I'll talk to Mr Midoriya about it, I'm sure he'll be on the same page as me."

"Come to think of it…why aren't Yami and Alice acting as pro heroes?" Amai asked. "They don't have to be on a battlefield and can use their quirks on villains pretty easily."

Mai sighed. "Well, there are a few reasons. One, you can't give children official jobs. Two, there would inevitably be people who see Yami helping out in any way as a form of forced child labor or something. Three, having Grimm roam the streets would make people uncomfortable due to their… unsettling appearances. These ones are meant for defense and rescue, so the public probably won't be too upset about it. Probably."

And so some more Grimm join the roaster.

Please review and have a nice day.
