The shopping finished, Harry, Danny, and Jazz found themselves in the bustling dining area of the Leaky Cauldron, enjoying a hearty evening meal later that evening. The warm, comforting smells of roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and freshly baked bread filled the air, mingling with the soft hum of conversation from other patrons.
Hagrid leaned forward, his expression serious, as they finished their desserts. "Harry, Danny, Jazz, there's something important yeh need to know about before yeh start at Hogwarts," he said, his voice low. Danny looked up at the seriousness of Hagrid's tone. Jazz paused with her fork halfway to her mouth, then set it down, her brow furrowing slightly.
"I want you both to know this. Not all wizards are good. Some of 'em go bad. A few years ago, there was one wizard who went as bad as you can go." Danny put down his spoon, as did Harry, their attention rapt.
"And his name was V… His name was V-" Hagrid struggled.
"Hagrid," Jazz spoke up, and Hagrid looked at her quickly before he said, "His name was Voldemort."
Harry opened his mouth, but Jazz quickly put her hand over his mouth, whispering, "It was a dark time, guys. Dark times. Voldemort began to gather followers, took them over to the Dark Side. Anyone who stood up to him ended up dead. Harry, your parents fought against him, but no one lived once he decided to kill them. Nobody, not one, except you and your brother… Of course, that's only what I've read in The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts."
"Me? Voldemort tried to…" Harry couldn't believe it. He really couldn't as he stared at Jazz, then at Danny who was looking down, his eyes closed tightly. Harry would swear later on that he saw something glowing behind Danny's eyelids as Hagrid nodded, picking up the story from where Jazz left off. "Aye. That ain't no ordinary mark on your forehead, Harry. A mark like that only comes from being touched by a curse. And an evil curse at that. Your brother has the exact same mark, but on the other side of his forehead, like a mirror image."
"What happened to You-Know-Who?"
"Well, some say he died."
"Bull." Danny interjected, looking up finally, his eyes flashing green momentarily before he looked down once more. "People like him don't just die and disappear. They come back, somehow, some way. I've learned that sometimes, no matter how bad things seem, those who are really dangerous can find ways to come back. They can hide in the shadows, gather strength, and return when you least expect it."
Harry noticed the green glow in Danny's eyes and felt a shiver run down his spine. "Danny, your eyes… they're glowing," he said quietly, still trying to process everything he was hearing.
Danny sighed, the green fading from his eyes. "It happens when I get emotional. It's just a side effect of an accident I had a few years ago. It'll go soon… but what I'm saying is that unless this Voldy guy really did die, I'd know. And so would the Ghost Zone."
Jazz's eyes narrowed slightly. "Mom and Dad been harping on again?"
"No, Jazz. Phantom would likely have said if something were trying to come through." Danny answered, looking at his sister, ignoring the confused looks they were getting from the Brits. Jazz sighed at the mention of the resident ghost and shook her head.
"You're still on his side?" she asked, her voice tinged with frustration.
"And if I am?" Danny took a deep breath, trying to keep his cool. "Look, Jazz, you know as well as I do that Phantom has dealt with plenty of dangerous beings. He's been able to sense when something powerful is trying to break through the veil between worlds. If Vol-You-Know-Who were somehow still around, Phantom would have felt it."
Jazz raised an eyebrow, scepticism clear in her expression. "And you still trust Phantom, despite everything?"
Danny's eyes flashed with irritation. "Yes, seriously. Phantom has saved us more times than I can count. Why is it so hard for you to trust him?"
"Because he's unpredictable!" Jazz shot back. "And dangerous. You know that better than anyone. What if he makes a mistake? What if something slips through?"
"We can't just dismiss him because of a few risks," Danny argued. "We need him, Jazz. You know we do."
Jazz crossed her arms, her face set. "Maybe. But that doesn't mean I have to like it. And it doesn't mean I have to trust him blindly like you do."
"You sound like Mom and Dad," Danny grumbled, shoving his spoon into his ice cream and standing up abruptly. The tension between him and Jazz was palpable, and Harry couldn't help but feel caught in the middle.
Jazz crossed her arms, frustration evident on her face. "Well, someone has to be the voice of reason, Danny. We can't just rely on Phantom for everything."
Danny shot her a glare, his eyes momentarily flashing green. "It's not about relying on him for everything. It's about recognizing that we have allies who understand this better than anyone. You always see the worst-case scenario."
"Because someone has to! What if something goes wrong? What if Phantom can't handle it?" Jazz retorted, her voice rising slightly.
Danny clenched his fists, trying to keep his cool, and ice formed where his fingers gripped the seat, unnoticed by most. The air around them seemed to chill slightly, a subtle hint of frost forming on the edge of the table. "But dismissing their help is just reckless."
Hagrid cleared his throat, cutting through the tension. "Look, yeh both have valid points. What matters now is that yeh stick together and keep each other safe."
Harry watched in silence, noting the small patches of frost that had formed on the seat and the table near Danny's hands. He wondered if it was accidental magic or something more, but decided not to ask just yet. For now, he was more focused on the gravity of their conversation and the challenges that lay ahead.
As the conversation settled, the air began to warm up again. Danny sat back down, his anger slowly dissipating. "Alright, Jazz. Let's just try to get through this together, okay?"
Jazz nodded, her frown staying in place. "Fine."
Line Break.
"I've been saving the damned city ever since the accident and Jazz still doesn't believe I'm good!" Danny's voice was filled with frustration and hurt. There was a loud thud, followed by the sound of something being hit—perhaps a pillow or a wall. Harry paused outside the door at the frustration palpable in Danny's voice.
Inside the room, Danny sat on his bed, holding the Fenton Phone to his ear. On the other end were his best friends, Sam and Tucker, offering their support.
"Danny, you know Jazz loves you. She's just worried," Sam's voice crackled through the phone.
"Yeah, man. She's always been the protective type," Tucker added.
Danny sighed heavily, his anger still simmering. "I get it, but it still hurts. I've been putting my life on the line to protect people, to protect her, and she still thinks I'm dangerous."
Sam's voice was filled with empathy. "I know it's tough, Danny. But remember, it's not just Jazz. Remember when we first started ghost hunting? The whole town of Amity Park was against Phantom. They thought he was some kind of menace."
Danny's frustration bubbled over. "Yeah, I remember. The smear campaign, the rumours. The Bounty."
Tucker tried to lighten the mood. "But you proved them wrong, dude. You showed them that you're a hero. It just took time, sweat, tears and blood. A lot of blood."
Danny shook his head, the memories of those difficult times flooding back. "It took forever, Tucker. And now, it's happening all over again with Jazz. I just want her to see that I'm doing my best. I want her to trust me, as Phantom."

"Danny? Can I come in?"
Danny, startled, quickly shifted in his seat, turning to face the door as it opened. "Yeah, sure. Come in. I'm just talking to friends back home."
Harry entered the room and sat down on the edge of Danny's bed. "I couldn't help but overhear. You okay?"
Danny sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Not really. It's just... Jazz. No matter how much Phantom does, she still doesn't trust him. It's like she can't see the good he's trying to do."
Harry nodded, understanding the weight of family expectations. "It sounds tough. Phantom keeps risking everything to protect everyone in Amity Park, and it feels like she doesn't see that, same with my parents. They only see the danger, not the good. I hope so. I really want Jazz to understand. Phantom is a part of Amity, and everything Phantom does is for the good of others."
Harry smiled encouragingly. "She will, Danny. Just give it time."
Hey guys,
I had to add in a bit of tension between Danny and Jazz when it comes to Phantom. I had the idea that she wouldn't know about Fenton being Phantom until later on.
What do you think about their dynamic? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any feedback you have. Stay tuned for more twists, turns, and ghostly adventures!
Until next time,
Hermione
