Ashe

I woke up today, knowing it was the last day of school before Christmas holidays, and I couldn't wait. The excitement that had been bubbling within me since last night's movie night was still there, fuelling my anticipation for the festivities to come. The thought of two whole weeks filled with laughter, joy, and family traditions made me jump out of bed with a newfound energy.

I dressed in some warm clothes that Mommy laid out for me. The thick sweater, fluffy socks, and my favorite scarf were perfect for the chilly winter morning. As I headed downstairs, the aroma of fresh pancakes greeted me, and I felt my stomach rumble in anticipation.

Mommy was in the kitchen, flipping the last pancake onto a stack that looked too delicious to resist. "Good morning, Ashe," she said with a smile, her eyes twinkling with holiday cheer. "Ready for your last day of school?"

"Absolutely!" I replied, taking a seat at the table. "I can't wait for the holidays to start!"

Mommy placed a steaming plate of pancakes in front of me, and I eagerly dug in, savoring the sweet taste of maple syrup and the comforting warmth of the meal. We chatted about our plans for the holidays, my excitement growing with each passing moment.

As I finished breakfast and grabbed my backpack, I felt a sense of happiness and anticipation fill me. The house was decorated with festive lights and ornaments, each corner reflecting the love and joy of the season. With a final hug from Mommy, I stepped out into the crisp morning air, ready to embrace the day and all the wonderful moments it promised.

Jaxon was with me as usual, but he left Janna with Mommy, so it was just me and him. I liked it better this way. Jaxon and I had a special bond, a silent understanding that made our time together even more precious. We walked to school, the snow crunching beneath our boots, our breath visible in the frosty air. The anticipation of the day ahead filled us with a shared excitement, making the journey feel shorter and the chill less biting.

As we arrived at school, Jaxon sat at the back of the classroom and watched as our teacher, Mrs. Rodriguez, began organizing the day's activities. The room was abuzz with the infectious energy of students eager to start the holidays. Glittering decorations adorned the walls, and the Christmas tree in the corner sparkled with lights and ornaments crafted by our own hands.

I found my seat at the front, eager to soak in every moment of this special day. Mrs. Rodriguez welcomed us with a warm smile, her festive sweater adding to the cheerful atmosphere. "Good morning, class," she began. "Today, we have some fun activities planned to celebrate the season before we say goodbye for the holidays."

Jaxon gave me a thumbs-up from the back. We started with a holiday-themed quiz, followed by a craft session where we made snowflakes and decorations to take home. The room was filled with laughter and joy, each of us adding our unique touch to the festive spirit.

As the day progressed, we shared stories of our favorite holiday traditions and sang carols that echoed through the halls. The anticipation of the holidays made every moment feel magical, and I couldn't help but smile as I thought about all the wonderful experiences that awaited us.

When the final bell rang, signaling the start of our much-anticipated break, Jaxon and I exchanged a knowing look. We gathered our things and headed out into the snowy landscape, our hearts full of excitement and our minds filled with dreams of the holiday adventures to come.

Jaxon always made me feel safe. His presence was like a shield against any worries or fears, and his quiet confidence was infectious. As we walked home, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for having him by my side. Whether it was navigating through the crowded hallways or discussing matters under the stars, Jaxon consistently accompanied me in every activity.

"Jaxon, are you going to spend Christmas with us?" I asked eagerly as we trudged through the snow. He turned to me with a warm smile, his eyes twinkling like the festive lights adorning our house.

"Of course," he replied. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

His words filled me with joy, knowing that this holiday season would be even more special with Jaxon by my side. We continued our walk home, the anticipation of Christmas adding a spring to our steps and filling the air with a sense of magic.

"Jaxon what do you think the gender of the baby is?" I asked, curiosity evident in my voice. Jaxon chuckled softly, his breath visible in the cold air.

"I'm not sure," he said thoughtfully, "but I have a feeling it's going to be a girl."

I laughed at his confidence, imagining the delight on my dad's face if Jaxon's prediction was right. "Poor Daddy," I mused aloud. "He's always wanted a boy to share his love of basketball."

Jaxon grinned. "Well, who says a girl can't enjoy those things too? She might surprise him."

As we reached my house, the festive lights twinkling warmly in the twilight, I felt a profound sense of contentment. The thought of our families coming together to celebrate filled me with happiness, and I knew that this Christmas would be one to remember.

As we stepped into the warmth of the house, the door swung open and there stood Janna, her eyes wide with excitement. She toddled over to Jaxon, her little hands reaching up eagerly.

"Jaxon!" she squealed, her voice filled with pure joy.

Jaxon bent down, scooping her up into a big hug. "Hey there, Janna!" he greeted her, his face lighting up with a smile that mirrored her own.

"Pay horsey!" Janna said, her tiny voice bubbling with excitement as she looked at Jaxon with hopeful eyes.

Jaxon laughed heartily, setting her down gently. "Alright, horsey it is," he said, getting down on all fours. Janna clambered onto his back, gripping his shoulders firmly as Jaxon began to crawl around the living room, neighing playfully.

Janna's laughter echoed through the house, blending with the warmth and cheer of the festive decorations around us.

I ran up to my room, and Blu, our faithful dog, followed me everywhere as always. His tail wagged enthusiastically, a blur of happiness that matched the festive spirit of the house. I flopped onto my bed, and Blu jumped up beside me, curling up close. The gentle hum of holiday music floated through the air, and I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. Blu's presence was comforting, his loyalty unwavering.

As I lay there, I thought about the joy and laughter downstairs. Just then, I heard a knock on my door. "Can I come in?" Jaxon called softly.

"Of course," I replied, sitting up as he entered the room.

Jaxon leaned against the door frame, his eyes warm and kind. "You alright?" he asked.

I smiled. "Yeah, just needed a moment. It's all a bit overwhelming, but in the best way possible."

Jaxon nodded, understanding. "It's going to be a special Christmas," he said, joining me on the bed. Blu nudged his hand for a pat, and Jaxon obliged, his touch gentle and affectionate.

Jaxon looked at me, his expression serious yet filled with warmth. "Everything will be okay, Ashe. I promise," he said softly, his voice steady and reassuring. His words wrapped around me like a comforting blanket, easing the knots of anxiety that had been building up.

I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his promise. "Thanks, Jaxon," I murmured, reaching out to squeeze his hand. Blu shifted closer, his head resting on my lap as if he too understood the gravity of the moment.
