The sounds of joyous laughter and vibrant music filled the air as guests mingled on the deck, their spirits high under the now twinkling lights, while Ariel and her family basked in the delight of the evening. Little Melody wide-eyed in her grandfather's arms, entranced by his enchanting tales of ocean life, her imagination painting vivid images of coral kingdoms and all the adventures a two-year old could conjure. As the late King Triton effortlessly floated above the shimmering waves, his frame looming overboard, his long, majestic tail glittering like sapphire in the moonlight, as he wove stories of his reign-of bravery, of honor, and of the rich tapestry of life beneath the sea that had flourished under his care. With a wave of his hand, a magnificent swell rose beside him, sparkling like a cascade of diamonds, captivating Melody's gaze and igniting her sense of wonder.

''Did I ever tell you about the time I helped a school of fish escape a fierce storm? Oh, how your mother used to love that story.'' Triton chuckled, his voice booming yet tender. ''With a flick of my tail, I created a safe current just for them. They were so grateful, they promised to sing for me whenever the ocean lapped at my palace shores.'' As the laughter echoed around them, a warmth enveloped the scenery, clocking it in familial love-unwavering that just beyond the glittering waves, shadows lurked in the depths, plotting their nefarious entrance into this moment of joy. The thrill of the celebration was electric, but little did they know, a dark undercurrent was stirring, eager to disturb the harmony they had created. Suddenly, whipping through the air, a few innocent merfolk felt themselves shift a little as the waves they swam in suddenly grew from peaceful and still, to dark and dangerous. The joyous laughter that had once filled the night sky, fading, replaced by a thick tension that hung like a shroud over the celebration.

With each ripple of the waters, the atmosphere shifted dramatically, the bean began to respond to the impending storm above, the waves growing restless and agitated beneath the dark looming clouds that had suddenly transformed the moon. Triton's expression turned grave as he sensed the mounting unease among his merpeople down below. His authoritative presence, once a source of merriment and stories, now stood as a beacon of reassurance against the gathering tempest. ''Someone gather the children!'' Eric commanded, his voice resonating with urgency as he scanned the horizon for any signs of danger. His knees and eyes were sharp, searching for any source that could explain the disturbance, sensing a malice hidden in the storm's sudden dark embrace.

Against his protective chest, Melody let out a small cry of fear, as she clutched a large amount of fabric from his shirt. His blue eyes mirrored her own as he moved from terrified guest to terrified guest, the loyal Grimsby attending to Carlotta and the children, protectively. ''Here, baby, go to mommy,'' Eric said, his heart racing as Ariel wrapped her arms around the little girl as soon as she hit her hands, attempting to shield her from the chaotic energy of the encroaching storm. The wind howled, tugging at her braided hair, swirling the saltwater around them in a sudden frenzy.

Slowly, the laughter of the evening was replaced by shouts of warning and calls for preparation as Triton summoned the elements to their aid, his voice rising above the roar of the waves. With a flick of his powerful tail, he sought to quell the unrest in the ocean, but deep within the frothy depths, unseen eyes watched eagerly, waiting for the moment when the storm within and beyond would finally erupt. The tide of joy was shifting, and with it came an overwhelming sense of foreboding that loomed like the dark clouds above, threatening to engulf their celebration and unleash chaos upon their world.

The cacophony of alarmed voices was abruptly pierced by a melodic, yet chilling laughter that echoed from the shadows of the deep, just as the storm above them seemed to lessen. "Who is that?" asked a young man, his eyes full of confusion as his locks blew wildly in the powerful wind. He looked around, trying to pinpoint the source of the enchanting yet eerie sound, feeling a shiver run down his spine. Triton's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized the depths below. "Stay vigilant!" he commanded, his voice firm but strained, the undercurrent of unease palpable. He felt the shift in energy; just as the water seemed to split in halves, as someone, no two someone's was revealed. ''Oh, sweet little king,''

''You were always so naive, never knowing when to run..''

''You play with fire, Triton. And you know what they say about playing with fire. My sister played with fire, and look where she ended up! At the bottom of the sea, a bloody piece of sushi!'' It was Triton's long-forgotten adversary, Triton's heart dropped at the sight of her. ''It's Ursula's crazy sister!'' shouted Sebastian out of nowhere, his voice tinged with panic, interrupting the moment with characteristic bravado. ''Ah, the ever-eloquent little crab! So delightful to see you all huddled together like a group of frightened fish.'' Turning himself fully around, Triton tried to pull himself to a tall and commanding posture, as he allowed the anger to well up within him. ''Morgana, you dare to threaten me here, on a day like today! You will find that your tricks hold no power over me or my people. If you do this, I promise you will end up like one of those pieces of sushi.''

As Morgana twirled amidst the currents, a dark mist began to swirl around her frame, amplifying the eeriness of the scene. ''Oh, Triton, my dear brother-in-law, I'm not here to threaten anyone. No, I'm here because, to tell you the truth, I'm quite hurt. You see,'' She scaled the side of the boat with surprising agility, her movements balletic and ethereal, until she reached the deck, her laughter echoing against the wooden planks. ''I didn't get an invite,'' Morgana continued, her voice syrupy sweet as she gazed around the gathering of Triton's loyal subjects/family. ''A celebration without dear Morgana? I'm truly hurt, niece.'' she said, eyes directed at Ariel now.

''Niece? I-I don't understand. If what's your saying is true, that would make Ursula my aunt.'' Ariel whispered, unsure of herself, however neither Morgana or her own father broke the silence, meaning it had to be the truth. Confusion flickered in her green eyes, and for a moment, she felt as though the very foundations of her world were shaking beneath her, like a thick earthquake had just come to break apart everything she once knew. The weight of the sea witch's words hung heavy in the air, charged with disquite. As for Triton, who held an expression of anger and disbelief, his jaw clenched tightly as he processed the implications. Morgana was merely smiling, as if she was enjoying every single second.

''Ah, sweet Ariel,'' Morgana crooned, crawling closer, her tentacles acting like pets, as if they were acting on their own accord, and enjoying every single moment of chaos almost as much as the body they belonged to. ''You are indeed a member of a most curious family. Your father may deny it, but blood ties have a way of revealing themselves, don't they?''

''The only thing that matters is that you're dangerous, Morgana! Just like Ursula was!'' Triton interjected fiercely, his voice breaking the charged silence. ''You can use your lineage as a weapon against us, but our family will not be torn apart by your lies.'' Morgana's laughter chimed like glass shattering in the air. ''Oh, Triton, you simply misunderstand. This isn't about division; it's about one thing. A birthright. You took it away from Ursula, but let's face it, she was never sane enough to wield such a powerful artifact…..but I can't simply do this on my own…so I guess I can tell you all right now. I intend to bring dear Ursula back into the fold.''
