Chapter 3: Dominion in the Void

Naruto stood at the edge of the proto-plane, gazing at the chaotic horizon. His body felt different now, more defined and stable, as if the essence of the Guardian he had consumed was merging seamlessly with his own. Every breath seemed to pulse with power, but that power came with a gnawing hunger—a constant reminder of Predator's insatiable nature.

"Analysis complete," Great Sage intoned, breaking the silence. "Host's energy levels have increased significantly. Core stabilization has reached 87%. Further enhancement recommended before prolonged exposure to dimensional anomalies."

Naruto flexed his spectral fingers, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Guess that means I'm making progress, huh?"

"Affirmative. Additional energy sources will expedite full core stabilization, ensuring survival in hostile environments."

"Yeah, yeah. Survival first, questions later," Naruto muttered. Despite the reassurance of progress, he couldn't shake the feeling that something—or someone—was watching him. This realm was alive in a way he couldn't quite describe, as if the proto-plane itself was observing his every move.

He turned his attention to the horizon. The crystalline structures around him hummed faintly, their energies calling out to him like a siren's song. Beyond them, faint glimmers of light marked the presence of additional rifts.

"Well, time to get moving," Naruto said, stepping forward. "Let's see what else this place has to offer."

Navigating the proto-plane was a challenge in itself. The landscape shifted unpredictably, with crystalline spires sprouting and collapsing in a matter of moments. Naruto found himself constantly on edge, his senses attuned to every change in the terrain.

"Great Sage, any chance this place is going to stop trying to kill me?"

"Unlikely. Proto-planes are inherently unstable, and the host's presence is exacerbating local disruptions. Continued exploration is advised."

"Figures," Naruto muttered, dodging a sudden collapse of crystalline shards.

Hours passed as he traversed the plane, consuming energy sources and fending off smaller proto-entities that attacked him along the way. Each battle honed his skills further, and with every victory, Predator assimilated new abilities.

"Skill acquired: Energy Reformation. Host can now reshape absorbed energy into temporary constructs for offensive or defensive purposes."

Naruto tested the skill by forming a barrier of pure energy, watching as it shimmered around him like a protective dome. A grin spread across his face. "This'll come in handy."

As he pressed onward, a familiar pull tugged at his senses—the distinct presence of another rift. Unlike the first, this one exuded an almost oppressive energy, as if it were guarding something far more significant.

Naruto stopped, his gaze fixed on the swirling vortex ahead. "Great Sage, what's the deal with this one? Feels... different."

"Analyzing... Rift exhibits higher energy density and spatial stability than previously encountered anomalies. Probability of encountering advanced proto-entities: 79%."

"Great. Stronger enemies," Naruto said, rolling his shoulders. "Let's see if I'm up for the challenge."

Crossing into the new rift was even more intense than the first. The pressure was almost unbearable, crushing against Naruto's essence as he forced his way through. When he emerged on the other side, the environment was starkly different.

The crystalline spires were gone, replaced by a vast, obsidian landscape. Rivers of molten energy carved through the terrain, glowing with a vibrant crimson hue. The air crackled with raw power, each spark sending ripples through Naruto's form.

"This place feels... hostile," Naruto muttered, scanning his surroundings.

"Host's observation is correct. Energy readings indicate this proto-plane is in a state of hyperactivity, likely due to the presence of a powerful proto-entity."

Before Naruto could respond, the ground beneath him trembled violently. From the molten rivers emerged a towering figure—a creature unlike anything he had faced before. Its body was a swirling mass of lava and shadow, its form constantly shifting between solid and liquid states. Twin orbs of light burned where its eyes should have been, radiating a malevolent intelligence.

"Warning: Entity classified as Proto-Warden. Threat level: High."

Naruto smirked, energy crackling around him. "Guess I'll have to step it up, then."

The Warden roared, its voice a thunderous cacophony that shook the ground. Without warning, it lunged, a massive arm of molten energy crashing toward Naruto.

Naruto reacted instinctively, summoning a shield using Energy Reformation. The Warden's attack slammed into the barrier, sending shockwaves rippling through the air. Naruto gritted his teeth, holding his ground as the shield absorbed the impact.

"Alright, big guy," he said, dissipating the shield. "Let's see how you handle this!"

He formed a spear of condensed energy, hurling it toward the Warden with all his might. The weapon pierced the creature's chest, causing it to stagger back with a guttural roar. But the victory was short-lived—the Warden's form reconstituted almost immediately, its molten body absorbing the damage.

"Of course, it can regenerate," Naruto muttered, dodging another swing of the Warden's massive arm.

The battle raged on, each clash pushing Naruto to his limits. The Warden's attacks were relentless, forcing him to rely on every skill at his disposal. He used Predator to absorb fragments of the creature's energy, weakening it bit by bit while bolstering his own reserves.

As the fight progressed, Naruto's adaptive abilities began to take effect. He noticed patterns in the Warden's movements, predicting its attacks with increasing accuracy. With each exchange, his strikes became more precise, his defenses more impenetrable.

Finally, Naruto saw his opening. As the Warden reared back for another attack, he unleashed a concentrated burst of energy, targeting the creature's core. The blast tore through the Warden's form, shattering it into fragments that dissolved into the air.

"Host has gained skills: Molten Form Manipulation, Energy Core Detection."

Breathing heavily, Naruto surveyed the battlefield. The molten rivers had begun to cool, their glow fading as the proto-plane stabilized.

"Another one down," he said, a satisfied grin on his face. "This is starting to feel almost routine."

As the plane settled, Naruto felt a strange presence stirring in the distance. It wasn't like the proto-entities he had encountered before—this presence was more focused, almost sentient.

"Great Sage, what's out there?"

"Unknown. Energy readings suggest the presence of a proto-being with characteristics unlike previously encountered entities. Investigation recommended."

Naruto hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. Let's see what's waiting for me."

He moved cautiously through the landscape, following the faint pull of the mysterious presence. As he drew closer, the air grew denser, the energy around him vibrating with anticipation.

Finally, he reached the source—a massive crystalline structure embedded in the ground. At its center was a glowing orb, pulsating with a rhythm that matched the beating of his own core.

Naruto approached slowly, his instincts on high alert. "What is this thing?"

"Analyzing... Object identified as a Proto-Core. Likely origin: Dimensional seed for stabilizing proto-planes. Consumption or assimilation may yield significant enhancements."

Naruto reached out, his hand hovering over the glowing orb. The power emanating from it was overwhelming, but he felt no fear. This was what he had been searching for—a way to truly begin shaping his destiny in this chaotic realm.

With a deep breath, he placed his hand on the core.

The world around him erupted in light, and for a moment, everything was silent.
