The crisp autumn air was filled with the scent of fallen leaves as Mulder and Scully prepared the girls for their very first trick-or-treating adventure. The triplets, now almost two years old, were bundled up in costumes that made them look both adorable and comically oversized.

Beatrice was dressed as a little black cat, her face painted with whiskers and her tail trailing behind her as she waddled around, giggling. Joanna, the smallest of the three, had on a fluffy pumpkin costume, her orange belly puffing out like a soft ball as she toddled after her sisters. Sabrina was dressed as a little witch, her pointy hat perched slightly askew on her head, and a broomstick in her tiny hand.

Scully watched them with a fond smile, adjusting Joanna's hat as she grabbed her hand to steady her. "You all look perfect," she said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Mulder, who was crouched down to tie up Sabrina's costume.

Mulder glanced up, grinning. "I think they're ready to take on the neighborhood," he said, chuckling as Beatrice's tail swished. "I'm just waiting for the first toddler meltdown."

Scully rolled her eyes, but her smile remained as she straightened up. "They'll be fine. Let's just hope they're more interested in candy than in running around the yard."

Mulder lifted Sabrina up into his arms. "Let's do this. Who's ready for their first Halloween?"

The girls squealed in excitement, their faces lighting up with joy, even though they barely understood what was happening. They all held out their little pumpkin-shaped buckets, ready to collect as much candy as possible, unaware of how much their parents were looking forward to this special moment.

As they set off down the street, the girls toddled up to their first house, their costumes bobbing with each small step. Mulder, keeping a close eye on them, leaned over and whispered, "Alright, just say 'trick or treat,' and you'll get candy, okay?"

Beatrice, always the leader, was the first to walk up to the door, lifting her little pumpkin bucket. "Teat!" she said, her voice high-pitched with excitement. The homeowner smiled, dropping a piece of candy into her bucket.

Joanna followed close behind, babbling as she too held out her bucket. Sabrina was content to be carried by Mulder as they visited house after house.

Scully stayed close by, her hand on Beatrice's back to guide her, while Mulder kept Sabrina in his arms, ensuring that no one strayed too far.

After a few houses, the girls started to get the hang of it. They were more interested in the colorful bags and the idea of meeting new people than they were in the candy, but their excitement was contagious.

Finally, at the end of the night, Mulder and Scully stood together at the front door, watching as their three little girls bounced around, their costumes now slightly askew from all the fun. The night had been a success.

Scully glanced over at Mulder, her heart swelling with love. "This was a good night, Mulder. Our girls are growing up so fast."

Mulder nodded, his eyes warm as he watched the girls. "Yeah. Too fast." Then, with a smirk, he added, "But I think we earned a few pieces of candy too, right?"

Scully laughed, glancing at the overflowing buckets in their hands. "I'm pretty sure we did."

As the girls babbled about their night, Mulder and Scully exchanged a look of contentment.
