Arc 02 Chapter 11 The Musical Showcase Begins! A Dazzling Appearance!

Six Months Ago During the Fall Formal.

During that fateful night of the Fall Formal, it was a quiet night within Canterlot City but at a restaurant around a street corner, the brightly lit windows pick out the silhouettes of a roomful of customers, and their muffled, heated conversation is heard even at this distance.

The sound of melodic singing can be heard through the commotion as it's revealed to be coming from a corner booth where three mysterious hooded figures were sitting.

As the three of them were vocalizing, a mysterious green mist slowly floated into the small red ruby pendants that they were wearing around their necks. After the mist disappeared into the pendants is when the figures stopped vocalizing and two of them took off their hoods to reveal that they were girls.

The first girl had pale, light grayish fuchsia skin, moderate mulberry eyes, and moderate purple hair with light brilliant aquamarine streaks which was tied up in a double ponytail.

Her name is Aria Blaze.

The girl sitting next to her had arctic bluish white skin, moderate raspberry eyes, and light arctic blue hair with moderate persian blue stripes which was tied up in a ponytail.

Her name is Sonata Dusk.

Aria sighed "That was barely worth the effort, Adagio." She groaned in annoyance. "I'm tired of fast food, I need a meal."

The girl who was sitting across from them who soon removed her hood. This girl had pale, apple green skin, brilliant raspberry eyes, and luminous vivid orange hair with brilliant yellow streaks which was very large and poofy.

Her name is Adagio Dazzle.

"The energy in this world isn't the same as in Equestria. We can only gain so much power here." Adagio reminded them.

Aria groaned again. "Ugh! I wish we'd never been banished to this awful place!" She complained getting fed up of not getting enough power.

"Really? I love it here!" Adagio said sarcastically in fake cheerfulness before glaring at Aria.

Sonata however didn't caught the sarcasm. "For realsies? Because I think this place is the worst." She said, thumbing outside.

Aria rolled her eyes at the airhead. "I think you're the worst, Sonata." She said with an irritated expression.

"Oh, yeah?" Sonata retorted. "Well I think you're-"

Adagio let's a fed-up groan and puts a hand to her forehead, stopping their argument. Not noticing a low rumble of thunder starting to build in the distance.

"Ergh! I'll tell you one thing, being stuck here with you two isn't making this world any more bearable." She said the last word through gritted teeth narrowing her eyes.

Suddenly a great flash of white light erupts behind the hills outside and gives way to a column of energy pouring up toward the sky.

Adagio turns to the window, the reflection of this phenomenon playing across her eyes as she opens them wide in surprise.

She rushes out of the restaurant and onto the sidewalk and a sudden wind blows past her as Aria and Sonata moves to follow.

The light column has subsided to a glow behind the hills, from which a double helix of rainbow light lances up into the clouds. Adagio can only stare open-mouthed as a beam of this multicolored power shoots straight and true from the high end, connecting with a flash against something behind the hills and ricocheting into the heavens.

Adagio's pendant then gleams briefly and she sees this before looking up with a gasp. "Did you feel that?"

Her confusion gives way to a malicious grin as Aria and Sonata join her on the sidewalk still in confusion.

"Do you know what that is?" She pointed to the phenomenon, getting shrugs and noncommittal noises from the other two as Adagio grabs Aria's shirt. "It's Equestrian Magic!"

Aria rolled her eyes. "But this place doesn't have Equestrian Magic." She retorted.

"It does now." Adagio said as she let go of Aria and stepped forward with a sinister grin. "And we're going to use it to make everyone in this pathetic little world adore us!" She said placing one hand on her hip, Aria and Sonata moving up on either side of and adopting evil smiles of her own.

Present Day Canterlot High.

It was a pleasant day at Canterlot High School as everybody was getting ready for the Musical Showcase that was coming up in just a couple of days.

A steady buzz of conversation is heard as students make their way around the halls either carrying supplies or making their way to classes. Most people during this time however were in the gymnasium working on decorations.

Inside of the gymnasium, assorted groups of students can be seen hunched down on the floor, hard at work making signs and banners. Among the design teams are the Cutie Mark Crusaders and Trixie, the latter of whom is working with two other girls that joined in to form her band for the Musical Showcase.

Apple Bloom and Scootaloo adding their own touches to the Crusaders' banner. Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle trade an approving smile, the latter holding a small can of paint with a brush resting inside.

Suddenly, a hand attached to an arm in a dark gray sleeve reaches into view to pluck the implement away, much to both girls' surprise, and said arm belonged to none other than Sunset Shimmer.

Her demeanor is very much changed from the one she displayed in the past as she has put on a genuine smile and a helpful tone.

"Want some help?" She asked, holding the brush out to them.

Applebloom looked at Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle with an unsure expression before shaking her head at Sunset. "Uh, no thanks. We're good"

Applebloom declined her offer politely while the other two nodded. Sunset then felt slightly disappointed from that response.

"Oh. Okay." She said before she handed the brush back to Sweetie Belle.

"Sunset Shimmer! Over here!" Pinkie happily and loudly called out to which Sunset thankfully accepted as she walked over by the whispering students giving her disapproving mutters as she walks over to the girls.

Sunset gained an uncomfortable expression. "I had no idea the whole school would be here." She told the girls as she walked over to them as Fluttershy placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

Sunset looked at the group and noticed a certain someone was missing. "Hey where's Miko? Shouldn't he be here?" She asked, looking around the room.

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes good naturedly before pointing up the ceiling.

Sunset looked up and to her slight surprise Miko was floating in the air casually playing on his PSP.

"Seriously?" She asked Rainbow Dash with an amused smile, looking up at the ceiling. "What's he doing up there?"

Applejack shrugged. "He said he had to check on some lights or somethin'. I reckon he's just avoidin' the chaos down here." She chuckled, glancing around the gym at the flurry of activity.

"Hey I already did half the work carrying our stuff to the gymnasium like a pack mule." He retorted, not looking away from his game.

Rainbow Dash couldn't help but snicker at the sight of Miko, floating high above them all, completely unfazed by the chaos. She knew he wasn't really avoiding them; he just had his own way of dealing with stress. Plus, it gave him a better vantage point for spotting any potential problems.

Rarity and Pinkie decided to change the subject. "Quite the eye-catching advertisement, if I do say so myself." Rarity said as she and Pinkie held up their poster which featured a big guitar with musical lyrics and a small piano and drum set on it. "And it smells like cake!" Pinkie added.

"It does?" Fluttershy asked in surprise as she sniffed the poster.

Before Pinkie shoves it right into her face. "I used frosting instead of paste!" She explained as Fluttershy found her face having said frosting on it.

"Uh, Fluttershy, you've got a little somethin', uh..." Applejack told her as she pointed to her nose to which Fluttershy wiped part of her cheek clean.

"Did I get it?" Fluttershy asked.

Applejack chuckled. "Heh, not exactly." She honestly answered as Sunset helped clean it off her face with a tissue.

"Good afternoon, students." Principal Celestia addressed every student as she and Vice Principal Luna walked in.

"I just wanted to tell you all how pleased I am that so many of you are going to participate in the first ever Canterlot High School Musical Showcase!" She complimented her students as they cheered in celebration.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to raise money for all our after-school programs here at CHS. So keep working on those signs and posters. I think it's going to be one of the most exciting events we've had at CHS since the Fall Formal."

The mere mention of the Fall Formal made everyone turn their attention to Sunset Shimmer. Some of them even glared at her which made Sunset blush from embarrassment as she slid down to the ground and huddled to herself in a little ball.

Miko, who was still floating in the air, saw this before he rolled his eyes and decided to intervene. "Come on guys! Knock it off!" He called down getting their attention as he descended to the ground. "You know she's changed!"

"Dude, have you seriously forgotten all of the horrible things she did to us? She broke up our friendships just to win at the Fall Formal." Heath Burns, one of the athletes, said as he glared at Sunset, his arms folded across his chest.

Miko glares back. "I haven't. But Sunset has been doing everything to show she's changed for the better, hell she has been doing community service not just in school but around the city too!" He argues.

"She bullied, tortured, and manipulated us, Miko!" Cherry Crash, one of the Rocker students, snapped back, her hands on her hips. "How can you trust her?"

Miko glares softened. "Because, everyone deserves a second chance, no matter how big of a bully they were." He said firmly, his voice carrying a hint of his own painful past. "And Princess Twilight gave her that chance."

Just the Name of Twilight sparked a hush among the group. If it wasn't for her, distrust and fear would still be thick in the air.

"If she were here right now, what do you all think she would say if she saw you treating Sunset Shimmer like this." His words hit a nerve and everyone went quiet, remembering the words and actions of Twilight Sparkle who helped them all rebuild their friendships.

The (Hu) Mane 5 and Sunset watch as the tension in the room slowly dissipates. Miko's words resonated with everyone, and they couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for judging Sunset so harshly.

"That's what I thought." As all Miko said as he turned to the Rainbooms and Sunset with a satisfied nod. They couldn't help but feel a surge of pride for they're friend standing up for Sunset like that.

"Miko, you didn't have to do that." Sunset said as he approached them, a hint of gratitude in her eyes.

Miko shrugged. "Someone had to. Besides, it's what friends do." He said with a gentle smile.

Soon everyone continued to decorate their posters, with Miko's words echoing in their minds. Rainbow Dash couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions; she was proud of Miko for standing up for Sunset, but also felt a twinge of jealousy.

The girls and Miko continued to work on their posters, the air around them slightly less tense thanks to Miko's intervention.

Later that day.

Miko, Sunset, and the Rainbooms in the music room while getting your instruments ready for practice. Sunset was sitting on top of a piano while feeling down.

"Ugh! I am never gonna live that down." Sunset groaned as she sees this as a terrible black mark on her reputation and new outlook in life.

"You were pretty bad at the Fall Formal." Fluttershy lightly commented.

"A demon. I turned into a raging she-demon." Sunset bluntly corrected deadpanning while sitting cross-legged along with crossed arms.

"And tried to turn everyone here into teenage zombies for your own personal army, right before Miko kicked your butt!" Pinkie added as she mimicked the zombie motions.

Miko deadpanned at Pinkie. "Not helping, Pinkie."

Pinkie stopped her zombie impression and blinked at Sunset. "Oops, Sorry."

"Anyways what I think Pinkie meant to say is, that we're currently not looking at that kind of..."she-demon" anymore. I mean coming from us, you've changed quite a lot and you're showing that effort too. Having you as our friend is something that we're all happy to have." Miko said, giving Sunset a gentle pat on the shoulder trying to cheer her up.

The rest of the Rainbooms nod and voiced some agreement as well which made Sunset smile slightly.

"He's right, Sunset darling. You have us now and we've forgiven you for your past... ahem... booboos." Rarity said with a warm smile as she held her keytar.

Applejack nodded in agreement as she tuned her bass. "To be honest, I'd say the whole experience brought everyone at Canterlot High closer than ever before!"

"Especially us!" Miko exclaimed with a cheeky grin, nudging Sunset playfully.

Sunset smiled. "Thanks guys."

"Alright then, enough chit-chat. Let's get to practicing already. I don't want my awesome guitar skills to get rusty." Rainbow Dash announced as she strapped on her electric guitar with a flourish.

Miko rolled his eyes as took a seat next to Sunset on the Piano as he decided to sit this one out for the moment.

One, two, three!" Pinkie tapped her drumsticks before she and the rest of the Rainbooms performed their rehearsal song as Sunset and Miko watched.

[Play Song: Better Than Ever]

[The Rainbooms: Singing]

There was a time we were apart

But that's behind us now

See how we've made a brand new start

And the future's lookin' up, ah-oh, ah-oh.

The girls all sang as they played their musical instruments.

And when you walk these halls

You feel it everywhere

Yeah, we're the Wondercolts forever, ah-oh, yeah!

The girls all sang as they briefly regrew their long ponytail styled hair and ears with Fluttershy and Rainbow briefly regrowing their wings.

We are all together

(Ah, ah, oh-oh-oh-oh)

Now it's better than ever

(Ah, ah, oh-oh-oh-oh)

You can feel it, we are back (You... can... feel... it...)

And I'm so glad that we're better

Better than ever

Whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh

Oh yeah, we're better than ever

Whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh.

The girls sang as Sunset started to smile as Miko grinned his head nodding to the song.

[Rainbow Dash: Singing]

There was a time we couldn't see

Past the differences.

Rainbow Dash sang as she Fluttershy danced beside Sunset.

[Applejack: Singing]

That separated you and me

And it left us on our own.

Applejack sang as she played her bass guitar.

[Pinkie Pie: Singing]

But now you walk these halls

And friends are everywhere.

Pinkie sang as she drummed on the cylinders.

[The Rainbooms: Singing]

Yeah, we're the Wondercolts forever, ah-oh, yeah!

We are all together

(Ah, ah, oh-oh-oh-oh)

Now it's better than ever

(Ah, ah, oh-oh-oh-oh)

The girls sang as Sunset got off of the piano.

Now that we are back on track (Now... that... we... are...)

Yes, I'm so glad that we're better

Better than ever.

The girls sang as Sunset snapped fingers, clapping her hands, and tapping her foot to the beat.

Whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh

Oh yeah, we're better than ever

Whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh

Oh yeah, we're better than ever

Whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh

Oh yeah, we're better than ever!

The girls finished singing as their pony tails and ears disappeared while Sunset and Miko clapped their hands in applause for their performance.

"I still can't believe that happens when we play!" Rarity noted as she then got some ideas on her mind having said that. "Ooh! I've got to look into some new accessories! Something that looks good in a longer ponytail. Ooh! Maybe some clip-on earrings for when I get those adorable pony ears." She then pondered the many ideas she could try.

"I just wonder why it happens. Princess Twilight took her crown back to Equestria. Shouldn't that mean she took all the magic back with her?" Applejack questioned as she sat beside Fluttershy. "Do you know Miko?"

"Who cares why it happens? It makes my band totally awesome!" Rainbow Dash shrugged it off.

"Oh! Your band?" Rarity said in surprise disbelief.

"Duh!" Rainbow Dash replied as she further bragged. "It was my idea to start the Rainbooms so we could be in the showcase. Plus I'm the lead singer and guitarist."

Just then she got a karate chop to the head. "Ow!" She yelped as she turned around to see Miko with a raised eyebrow.

"Remember what I said Dash, that way of thinking is a fast way for a band to fall apart, I mean look at what happened to some Famous bands in the old days, like The Beatles." He said, rolling his eyes as he got back to tuning his two-necked guitar that he got from Trixie a month prior.

"Oh please, like that's gonna happen to us." Rainbow Dash retorted as she playfully stuck out her tongue at him.

"Not if you keep acting like you own the band. And last I remember, I'm the one who came up with our name: The Rainbooms." Miko said with a smug look on his face.

The girls all laughed at Rainbow's expense while she blushed and glared at Miko. "Well, I was the one who came up with the concept!"

"And I'm the one who made Pinkie our drummer and If Pinks hadn't given Rarity her Keytar...ugh, I would've ended up carrying her Grand Piano everywhere." He groaned at the end of his sentence.

Pinkie giggled. "Aw, you say the sweetest things."

"Yeah, sure." Rainbow Dash smirked, though she couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. She knew Miko was right, but she just couldn't resist the urge to claim the spotlight.

Just then somebody knocked on the door, surprising them.

They turned to each other in confusion wondering who it was.

Miko counted them one by one Including himself, to make sure they weren't forgetting anyone. "Okay, that's six of us. So who's at the door?" He asked, looking around.

Sunset raised her hand. "I'll go check." She said as she slid off the piano and walked over to the door.

When Sunset opens the door Flash Sentry walks inside.

"Uh, heard you outside. You guys are sounding really tight." Flash complimented having heard their song from outside.

"Eh, we're getting there. Rarity's still coming in a little late on the second verse, and Applejack's bass solo could use a little work. They'll get it together in time for the showcase." Rainbow answered while thinking they can do better while Rarity and Applejack glared at her in irritation.

"I don't know about that, in my opinion Rare and AJ are doing great." Miko retorted as he strummed his guitar making said girls smile at him in appreciation.

"Uh, I don't suppose any of our friends from, uh... out of town might come?" Flash nervously asked. "Uh, it being a special charity event and all."

Miko grinned at him teasingly. "Someone misses Twily~" he sang.

Flash's cheeks reddened. "N-no, it's not just that! I mean, I do miss her, but I was just wondering if she might come, you know, since it's for a good cause."

"Well, we're sorry to disappoint you Flash, but I don't think Twilight's gonna be back at Canterlot High any time soon" Applejack said with a look of sympathy which was mirrored by the others.

Flash looked a little bit disappointed by that before he got rid of his frown and smiled. "Oh, okay then."

"Dude, I'm guessing you're getting your band ready for the Musical Showcase?" Miko asked as he looked at Flash with a knowing smile.

Flash nodded with a smile. "Yeah. Ringo, Brawly, and I have been practicing non stop ever since it was first announced. I seriously can't wait for it."

Miko chuckled at his excitement. "That's great Flash. You know, if Twilight was here, I'm sure she'd be cheering you on." He teased lightly, watching as Flash's cheeks grew redder.

"R-Right. I-I'm sure s-she would. A-Anyways, k-keep on rockin' it." Flash said while backing up to which he accidentally bumped right into the wall behind him.

Miko facepalmed at that before Flash smiled nervously and left. Rarity couldn't help but comment on that. "Well." She said giggling. "Someone is quite the smitten kitten."

Miko cleared his throat which got her attention, he pointed his eyes at Sunset and Rarity immediately got what Miko was trying to get across to her before she spoke to Sunset.

"Oh, sorry, I always forget you and Flash used to be an item." Rarity apologize.

"It's okay." Sunset waved it off. "Flash is a great guy and all, but I never really liked-him liked him. I was just using him to become more popular." She added as her eyes widened before she facepalmed in disgust with herself.

"Ugh! The old me really was just awful, wasn't she?" She asked her friends to which they couldn't even deny or avoid admitting yes she was horrible when she was bad.

"Hey, hey, hey come on, none of that." Miko said as he walked closer to her and patted her back in comfort. "You've come a long way in just six months, don't beat yourself up over it."

"Miko's right, the important thing is that you've turned yourself around." Applejack then encouragingly told her as she placed a hand on her back.

"Thanks, Miko, Applejack." Sunset greatly appreciated though looked down glumly. "But I'm not sure everyone else at CHS feels the same way."

[Sunset Shimmer, Miko Tsuburaya, please report to the main foyer.] Vice Principal Luna called out through the P.A. system.

'So they're finally here...' Miko thought to himself, narrowing his eyes. He had been waiting for this moment for six months.

The Dazzlings had finally arrived.

"Somethin' wrong Sugarcube?" Applejack asked Miko, noticing the sudden tension in his posture.

Miko shook his head and gave a forced smile. "Nothing, just...a little annoyed that Vice Principal Luna nominated me to show some new students around the school and I think it's probably because I helped Twilight around when she was here."

Despite saying that they knew something was up with Miko, the girls didn't push the subject. They all knew Miko had his secrets, but they also knew that when he was ready, he would tell them.

"We'll come on Sunset, we don't want to keep these newbies waiting." He said walking out of the room.

Sunset nodded and was about to follow before she turned to the others. "I decided to volunteer to help as well. Thought it'd be good for the new students to get to know the new me before they heard all the stuff about the old me." She said with a small anxious smile before heading out the door.

As soon as Miko and Sunset left, Rainbow turned around to face the rest of the Rainbooms. "We've still got a few minutes before lunch starts. What do you say we do "Awesome As I Wanna Be"?" She suggested with a smirk, eager to get back to their music.

"Um, Rainbow Dash? I was wondering if we could maybe play the song I wrote?" Fluttershy asked while shyly holding up a notebook which had all of the songs she wrote in it.

"We'll get to that later." Rainbow said dismissively, not even bothering to look at her as she started to play her guitar.

"Oh, okay..." Fluttershy said disappointed.

Meanwhile with Miko and Sunset.

As Miko and Sunset walked to the main foyer the redhead couldn't help but notice the tension in Miko's stride. "Everything okay?" She asked him as they approached the entrance.

"Yeah... everything's fine." he replied, though Sunset could hear the tension in his voice. They arrived at the foyer where the three girls, which were none other than Adagio, Aria, and Sonata.

They have shed their hooded sweatshirts and are standing in the partial shadows thrown by the light coming in through the front doors.

They were wearing different outfits as well as Adagio was wearing a leotard-style garment with shorts attached and a short-sleeved, light violet shawl.

Aria was wearing a pale yellow, fitted sleeveless top under an open, cropped green shirt whose sleeves have been ripped away, and Sonata was wearing a short-sleeved, dark red-pink jacket with lighter-hued collar, cuffs, lapels and light blue front accents.

'Here we go...' Miko thought to himself as he kept his cool demeanor. He knew the Dazzlings' arrival was going to stir things up, but he was ready for it.

"Hi. Are you the girls I'm supposed to show around?" Sunset kindly asked as she approached the trio.

"We are." Adagio replied with a sly smile, stepping forward.

"It's nice to meet you, my name is Sunset Shimmer and this is my friend Miko Tsuburaya." Sunset introduced was still tense and looked to be deep in thought and nudged him in the ribs to follow suit.

"Uh...yeah, my name is Miko Tsuburaya." Miko finally managed to say as he forced a smile.

"I'm Adagio Dazzle and these are my... sisters." Adagio said, gesturing to Aria and Sonata.

"Aria Blaze is the name." Aria said, arms crossed and a bored expression.

"Hi! My name is Sonata Dusk, So nice to meet you." Sonata added with a cheerful wave, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Well then, Adagio, Aria, Sonata, welcome to Canterlot High. It's a great school. You're going to love it." Sunset then told them as she led the tour.

Miko nodded in agreement, keeping up his facade. "Yeah, the best in my opinion."

"Oh, yes, we really sense there's something... magical about this place." Adagio said with a sinister grin as Aria and Sonata grinned as well.

Miko gulped, sensing the underlying malice in Adagio's words. He knew all too well what "magic" they were referring to.

Sunset noticed Miko's stiffened posture and couldn't help but whisper in concern. "Hey, you sure you're okay."

Miko nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. What do you say we show them to the rest of the school?"

Adagio's smile widened. "Lead the way."

As the tour continued Miko couldn't help but feel Adagio's eyes on him with Sunset being completely unaware of this.

They walked through the hallways, passing by lockers and classrooms.

"That's the science lab. Computer lab is in there." Sunset then spoke as she showed them nearby rooms on her left than right as she walked down the hallway. "Oh!" She then showed them the poster just in front of them. "We're having a big musical showcase this weekend! The whole school is pretty much rallying around it."

Adagio gasps in fake surprise and glances toward her two 'sisters'. "A musical showcase?" She said while grinning mischievously and giving a sideways glance at Aria and Sonata who also grinned.

"It's a charity event that's supposed to help us raise enough money for the after-school programs." Miko explained, trying to sound as casual as possible, despite the storm brewing in his gut. "A lot of students have already signed up for it."

"I'm sure since you're new, Principal Celestia would let you sign up if you're interested." Sunset told them they are more than welcome to join in.

"We have been known to sing from time to time." Aria said with a bored sigh looking disinterested.

"Hello? We sing, like, all the time! It's how we get people to do what we want." Sonata blurted out with a smile as a mild grimace came from Aria, a raised eyebrow from Sunset, and a threatening snarl and "cut it" gesture came from Adagio.

The blue-haired teen remains completely oblivious to this colossal slip-up. "Wha-what did I say?"

"What you meant to say was that being in a musical showcase sounds like a great way to meet other students." Adagio kindly corrected her after regaining her composure.

Ohhhh, yeah. Th-What she said I meant to say." Sonata realized. "That's what I meant. To say." She repeated.

Miko couldn't help but sweatdrop at the blue haired girl. 'Jeez, not to sound mean, but she's definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer.' he thought to himself.

"And what you would have said if you weren't the worst." Aria scoffed with disdain.

"You are!" Sonata fired back.

"You'll have to excuse them. They're idiots." Adagio apologized while bluntly insulting them to which they took slight offense to.

Miko raised an eyebrow. "I'm assuming that they act like that all of the time, don't they?" He asked deadpanning.

"Oh, you have no idea..." Adagio said with a sigh.

After a few seconds of awkward silence between all of them, Sunset noticed the three of them wearing what appeared to be tiny red gemmed pendants around their necks.

"Those are pretty. " Sunset commented with a smile. "Where did you-" She tried to reach for Adagio's pendant when she suddenly reacted and grabbed Sunset's wrist to stop her as she had an angry look on her face.

She then realized what she did and Immediately let go of her wrist nervously laughing. "Sorry. These pendants mean an awful lot to us, we'd just hate for anything to happen to them." Adagio apologized as Sunset rubbed her wrist.

"They're really that important to you?" Miko asked in faux curiosity, his eyes never leaving the pendants.

Adagio nodded in response "Mm-hmm. They are. Anyways, we should go. We need to sign up at the principal's office if we're to participate in the Musical Showcase."

With that she walked off with Aria and Sonata to the principal's office.

"Oh, and Miko." Adagio stopped and looked at him over her shoulder with a knowing smirk.

"Yeah...?" Miko replied, his voice trailing off as he felt a shiver run down his spine.

"I hope we can get to know each other better, there's something about you that's... intriguing." Adagio purred, her eyes never leaving Miko's as she spoke. "We'll be seeing you around." She turned and the trio disappeared around the corner.

Miko gulped nervously, having put two and two together and he immediately knew why Adagio found him intriguing. 'Oh, Shit...'

Sunset noticed the look of concern on Miko's face as the Dazzlings disappeared around the corner. "You okay?" she asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Miko's nervous expression turned into a glare looking at the corner where the Dazzlings left before he walked in the other direction.

"Sunset, we need to go see the others, now." He said, his voice urgent as they headed down the hallway.

Sunset looked at him in confusion. "What? Why?"

"Because those three have Magic." Was all he said referring to the Dazzlings.

"What?! Are you sure?" Sunset asked in shock as she and the others knew of his new ability to sense magic.

Miko nodded, his eyes serious. "Positive. Now let's go warn the others."

Sunset nodded before they both walked away.

Meanwhile with the Dazzlings.

"What was that?" Aria couldn't help but ask as they continued down the hallway.

Adagio smirked as they continued down the hallway, "What was what?" She asked in feigned ignorance.

Aria narrowed her eyes at her "Don't play dumb with me Adagio why were you... being friendly with that Human?" She questioned as they walked.

Adagio's smirk widened. "That boy, Miko, he Isn't like the other little humans in this school."

Sonata tilted her head in curiosity. "What do you mean?"

"Didn't you two sensed It?" Adagio asked with a knowing look at her 'sisters'.

"What are you talking about?" Aria looked confused.

"That boy...he is a Giant of Light." Adagio said with a sinister chuckle.

Aria's and Sonata's eyes widened as they realized the implications of Adagio's words.

"A-ar-are you sure?" Despite her tough exterior Aria couldn't help but stutter.

"Y-yeah, Adagio, m-maybe he just has Equestrian Magic..." Sonata stammered, scared to find one of them here.

"Except it's not Equestrian Magic, you dimwits." Adagio rolled her eyes. "I'll never forget the feeling of the power the Giant possessed. He's definitely one of them."

Aria and Sonata exchanged anxious looks as they processed the information. "What do we do now?" Aria whispered, her voice tight with tension.

Adagio just chuckled darkly, "Don't worry about him too much, something tells me, he might prove... useful." She said ominously as the trio continued to the principal's office.

During Lunch

Later that day, everyone was having lunch in the cafeteria. The Rainbooms were eating their lunch casually before Miko and Sunset arrived and sat at their table.

"So, how was the tour you two?" Applejack asked, after taking a bite of her apple fritter, looking at them expectantly.

"I don't know. I mean, these girls, they were... There was something off about them." Sunset honestly expressed her uncertainty about them.

"Like, off like this?" Pinkie asked she presented her hair in beard form. "Or, off like this?" She then presented herself with leaf eyebrows and carrot fangs. "Or... Oh, oh! Like…" Pinkie tried to suggest again before Rainbow Dash interrupted her train of thought.

"Maybe we should just let her tell us." Rainbow gestured before the both of them turned to Sunset as one of the carrots fell out of Pinkie's mouth.

"Actually, I think I think I should let Miko explain since he knows more than I do, am I right?" Sunset asked, looking at Miko expectantly.

However she sweatdropped seeing him in complete bliss eating his chili dog.

She nudged him with her elbow, bringing him out of his chili dog-induced trance. "Miko? What's up with those new girls?"

"Huh? Oh, right." He immediately wiped the chili from his mouth with a napkin before speaking. "The new girls, their names are Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk and they're bad news."

"What? What do you mean Miko?" Rarity asked in confusion, setting down her sandwich.

"Those girls...they have magic." He said seriously much to their shock.

Rainbow Dash was the first to snap out of her stupor. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hang on a second! The new girls have magic?!" She exclaimed, her eyes wide.

"How do ya know Sugarcube?" Applejack leaned in, her curiosity piqued.

"Remember when I told you girls about that new ability I have? The one that randomly popped up? Miko asked, looking around the table at his friends.

They nodded as he told them about his new ability to sense Magic a few weeks prior.

"Well, I had a bad feeling when I first saw them, so I secretly used it to see if they had magic and they do, but their magic felt darker." He explained making Sunset gasp.

"Wait, If that's true, then that must mean that they have dark magic." Sunset said in slight concern.

"Is that a bad thing?" Fluttershy asked, her voice quivering slightly.

"Sunset shook her head. "Not always. Dark magic can be used for both good and evil purposes. However, it's incredibly dangerous and risky to use." She explained.

Miko crossed his arms in thought. "If I'm right, they're here because they saw the rainbow light that Twilight and you girls used to defeat Sunset when you used the Magic of Friendship back during the Fall Formal." He said, his eyes scanning the cafeteria as if expecting them to appear any moment.

"S-So, they're here..." Fluttershy trailed off, looking nervously at her friends.

"...is because of us?" Applejack finished Fluttershy's sentence, her eyes wide with realization.

Miko nodded his lips set in a firm line. "Possibly. They're here to figure out the source of the rainbow pillar."

"Wait, that would be us! So, you're saying that they're looking for us?" Rainbow exclaimed in disbelief.

Miko shrugged helplessly. "I can't exactly say for sure, Dash. They might figure it out or they might not. It's hard to say what they truly want and what they're truly looking for at this point."

"What exactly do you think these girls want or what they plan to do with their magic darling?" Rarity asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and concern.

"I don't know, but we might need to keep our guard up just in case." He said as he took a sip from his drink.

"So, does that mean magic is going to be involved in CHS again?" Fluttershy asked in concern.

Miko decided not to sugarcoat it and said. "Yeah, If I'm right it's probably going to go down during the Musical Showcase." He took a deep breath before continuing. "And there's one more little problem."

"Oh great, there's more?" Rainbow Dash leaned in with a frown, her pink eyes meeting Miko's emerald ones.

"Somehow, I think they know I'm...different." Miko said with a knowing look in his eyes.

"Different?" They said in unison, confused looks etched on their faces.

Miko rolled his eyes before speaking again, "Different." He emphasized as his eyes briefly glowed bright blue.

Their eyes slowly widened in realization at what he was Implying.

"Dude, are you saying they might..." Rainbow trailed off, her voice low and filled with shock.

"...that they might know about my powers?" Miko finished Rainbow Dash's sentence, a hint of annoyance in his tone. "Possibly, hell they might be assuming it's magic."

The Rainbooms exchanged nervous glances, the atmosphere at the lunch table suddenly thick with tension.

"What now?" Sunset Shimmer's eyes darted around the table, her voice tight with worry.

"For now, we keep an eye on them, that's all we can do." He said with a frown before continuing. "As for me, it's best if I don't use my powers at all while those three are here."

Sunset and the Rainbooms looked at each other, before looking back at Miko, "Meaning...?" Rainbow Dash asked, her voice filled with curiosity.

"Meaning, no super speed, no super strength, no Specium energy attacks, and no flying, for me." Miko specified with a sigh. "Just me being a totally completely normal guy."

"You sure?" Applejack looked skeptical. "I mean, we're talkin 'bout you not using your powers at all. That's a big deal, Miko."

"And until we know what we're up against, I can't risk exposing myself." Miko replied firmly, pushing his tray aside. "This isn't up for debate."

Rarity nodded thoughtfully. "Very well, if you believe it's for the best, Miko, then we will trust your judgment."

Meanwhile in the Hallway just outside of the Cafeteria

The Dazzlings were at the front of the door that led inside the cafeteria. They had evil smirks on their faces.

"This is it, girls." Adagio said, deviously as she pumped a fist into the air. "The moment we've all been waiting for."

"Lunch?!" Sonata asked enthusiastically, which earned looks of annoyance from Aria and Adagio.

"Ohh." Adagio groaned in annoyance. "The chance to get our true Equestrian magic back."

"Oh, right." Sonata replied, realizing what Adagio meant.

"Our voices are just strong enough to make them want something so badly, they'll fight to get it." Adagio said as she watched the students getting their lunches.

"So we're just gonna do what we always do?" Aria asked with a look of disdain. "Stir up some trouble and feed off the negative energy? Some plan, Adagio."

"It won't be the same as the times before." Adagio explained. "There is Equestrian magic here. Their negative energy will give us the power we need to get this entire world to do our bidding

"But we can get lunch after though, right?" Sonata asked eagerly, looking at a sign showing Taco Tuesday. "It's Taco Tuesday!"

"Just follow my lead!" Adagio snapped, getting into Sonata's face.

"Or my lead." Aria said with a devious smirk which resulted in Adagio grabbing her vest.

"My lead!" Adagio said, sternly before she lets go of Aria as Sonata snickers while Aria looks away bitterly with her arms crossed.

The doors to the cafeteria burst open as the new girls started slowly walking in while singing which got everyone's attention.

"Oh, shit..." Miko cursed under his breath since he knew what they were planning to do.

[Play Song: Let's have a battle (Of the Bands)]

[The Dazzlings: Singing]

Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh

Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh

Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh

Ah, ah-ah, ah-ahh.

[Adagio Dazzle: Singing]

We heard you want to get together

We heard you want to rock this school

We've thought of something that is better

Something that changes all the rules.

Why pretend we're all the same

When some of us shine brighter?

Adagio sang as she stroked some of the girl's hair as she passed by them.

[Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk: Singing]

Shine Brighter.

Aria and Sonata as they walked by before getting together.

[Adagio Dazzle: Singing]

We heard you want to get together

We heard you want to rock this school

We've thought of something that is better

Something that changes all the rules.

Why pretend we're all the same

When some of us shine brighter?

Adagio sang as their pendants shined a bright light before walking over to a nearby boy while placing a hand on his chin.

[The Dazzlings: Singing]

Me and you, you and me

Why don't we see who is better?

We don't have to be one and the same thing

Oh, what's so wrong with a little competition?

Are you afraid of failing the audition?

The trio all sang together as they danced in perfect sync before sitting in nearby chairs cross-legged then pointing their thumbs down.

[Adagio Dazzle: Singing]

You're a star and you should know it

Yeah, you rise above the rest

It doesn't matter who you hurt

If you're just proving you're the best.

Adagio sang as she placed a finger under Trixie's neck before being lifted up to stand on the table before touching a nearby boy's neck as he swallowed his soup before walking to the center of the room with her 'sisters' joining her.

[The Dazzlings: Singing]

Ah, ahh-ahh-ahhh

Battle! You wanna win it

Let's have a battle, battle of the bands

Let's have a battle, we'll go all in it

Let's have a battle, battle, battle

Battle of the bands.

Battle.

As they continued singing some of the students started getting into heated arguments with each other.

"I can beat you!" Blueberry Cake told a girl with bright green hair.

Battle!

"Ha! You wish!" Cherry Crash shrugged off.

Battle!

"I so want this!" Trixie cried out.

Battle!

"Not if I get it first!" Captain Planet exclaimed with a fist.

[The Dazzlings: Singing]

Me and you, you and me

Why don't we see who is better?

We don't have to be one and the same thing

Oh, what's so wrong with a little competition?"

The trio sang as they got up and danced on the table again as the students started getting at each other's throats.

I'm going out and winning the audition.

About every student then sang and declared except for Sunset, Miko, and the Rainbooms who were watching everything in shock and confusion.

[The Dazzlings: Singing]

Battle! We wanna win it

Let's have a battle, battle of the bands

Let's have a battle, we'll go all in it

Let's have a battle, battle, battle

Battle of the bands!

Everyone sang as green mist spewed through the cafeteria with every student arguing with each other much to the seven students' confusion as they watched the scene.

"Ohhhh. They're that kind of "off"." Pinkie commented while thinking it's not too suspicious.

Sunset soon noticed Miko was quiet as the song was ongoing, he was visibly uncomfortable and tense as the green mist grew thicker. She nudged him, "Miko, are you okay?" she whispered, her eyes filled with concern.

"We need to get out of here, now." He whispered back as he got up from his chair, his eyes scanning the room.

The Rainbooms followed suit, sensing the urgency in Miko's voice. They pushed their way through the bickering crowd, trying to avoid any confrontations.

Once they were outside the cafeteria, the Rainbooms huddled together in the hallway, the sound of their classmates' arguing slowly fading away. "What the hell was that?" Rainbow Dash exclaimed, her fists clenched.

"I don't know, but It looks like keeping an eye on them is all but moot at this point." Miko said, his eyes narrowed in thought. "They're already stirring things up."

"But why would they do this?" Fluttershy asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "What do they have to gain from turning everyone against each other?"

"I...I don't know." Miko hesitated, his brows furrowed. "But one thing's for sure, they're using whatever magic they have to manipulate the students."

Applejack took note of his hesitance but decided not to comment.

"So, what now Miko?" She asked, looking at him for guidance.

Miko sighed thinking for a long minute. "We need to break whatever spell they've got going on. That's step one." He glanced at the group. "But we can't do it without getting their attention."

"How are we going to do that?" Rarity asked, her eyes wide with apprehension.

'Miko' The Giant of Light spoke up through their mental link. 'At this point you need her help.' He said knowingly.

'Her? What do you me- Oh...' Miko's eyes grew wide with understanding, glancing at Sunset.

He mentally facepalmed, forgetting that part. 'Okay...how in the hell did I forget that?' he thought to himself.

"Miko?" Fluttershy looked at him, her eyes filled with worry. "What do we need to do?"

Miko shook his head, cutting the mental connection between him and the Giant of Light.

He sighed leaning against a locker, his arms crossed. "R-right. That's step two."

The Rainbooms waited with bated breath for Miko's next words, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on their shoulders. Sunset looked at him expectantly, her own thoughts racing as she tried to piece together what he might be hinting at.

"At our current predicament, especially mine, it's obvious we can't do this alone, we need backup." He said with a sigh.

"Backup?" Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow. "Who do you have in mind?"

Miko gave Sunset a knowing look and The Rainbooms soon followed his gaze.

Sunset's eyes widened in realization at what he was implying. "M-miko, you don't mean..."

"Sunset, I know you have a way to contact Princess Twilight."
