Mining Facility

Planet Reach

"Noble team, there's a mining facility near your location. The Covenant are using it as a command outpost. Troopers on-site have already engaged." Comm in Carter as the three were getting closer to the facility. They could hear the sounds of combat.

Pulling into the clearing Nat, Thom, and Kat could see the facility with a bridge connecting to it. On one side where the facility was located, were Covenant forces defending the bridge with ground forces and shade turrets. On the other side were marines firing upon them as they tried to assault them but were being pinned.

Pulling to the side to get a good angle for Thom, Nat hopped out of the driver's seat and started sprinting towards the marines with Kat on her tail. Sliding up to cover, next to a marine, she picked up fallen marine's DMR, and started firing at the Covenant as Kat backed her up with an assault rifle.

"On my signal" called out Thom making Nat and Kat duck behind cover to wait. Upon gaining a good sight on the enemy positions, he unleashed rocket after rocket upon them. As the rockets sailed through the air, he targeted the shade turrets as a priority. Upon knocking them out he started focusing on the elites when the turret's display shined red to show it was out of ammo.

As Nat heard and saw the rockets strike the enemy positions, she leaped over her cover and charged the enemy positions. Leading the charge, she placed well aim shots on grunts and skirmishers. It toke a few more rounds to take down some elites. Unable to stop her charge she reached the other side, engaging in close combat as Kat and the marines followed suit with Thom trailing behind after abandoning the warthog.

Kicking a stunned elite's foot to drop it to its knee Nat put a bullet in its head to end it as their coms went off with the A.I. Auntie Dot speaking. "New intelligence: friendly forces near the Covenant outpost have spotted a high-value target. An Elite Zealot in fact."

"A Zealot? We're onto something big here, Commander." Questioned Kat gunning a grunt down.

"Eyes on the prize, Noble. Take out that Zealot if you get the chance but keep moving towards the spires." Ordered Carter as Thom chuckled. "Oh, I do have my eyes on the prize".

Taking point, he led the group deeper into the facility clearing our pockets of Covenant forces. "No visual on target." Muttered Kat looking for the elite that she knew Thom was gunning for. It was when they turned and entered a corridor, they arrived at the other end to see a moderate number of Covenant forces below with their target leading them.

"There's my target. Cover me! We can't let it escape!" he called out moving into a sprint and leaping over the edge on a collision course with the Zealot. To give him cover Kat and the marines formed a line above and started raining rounds down from above as Nat jumped over the railing to fire at them more directly.

All at once Thom smashed into the shocked Zealot, causing them to tumble off the roof of a small supply storage and rounds started hitting the Covenant forces. Some rounds took a few of them out in rapid succession but to their surprise, some rounds bounced off the shields of some grunts.

"Special Operations Unggoy" muttered Kat recognizing their armor pattern and shield strength as the grunts returned fire on them and the descending Nat.

Landing on the ground with a crouch, Nat was hit with a few plasma bolts that her shield absorbed before rolling to the side for cover and to return fire. Focus firing a grunt, she released more rounds than she would need for a standard elite before she dropped it dead. Focusing on the next grunt, she fires only three rounds before she hears the clicking of an empty mag, which forces her to hide behind cover.

Reloading her weapon as they fired upon her cover, she didn't have to wait long to return fire as the group from above started firing again at them, drawing their attention. Whipping around the cover she flung a grenade at them which landed in the center of them. Not wanting to wait for the time for it to explode, she fired a round into the grenade denotating it, causing it to consume the group in an explosion.

With the enemy group presumed dead, she jogged over to check just as Thom came crashing back out of the side of a wall with the Zealot on him. He landed on his back and moved his arm just in time to grab the Zealot's arm, to prevent him from stabbing him with a wrist mounted energy dagger.

Acting quickly Nat fired a round into that arm, making the Zealot pull it back in a flinch. Turning his head to her, he released a roar which was cut short from Thom's dagger entering its throat.

"My target" he called out sinking the dagger deeper to finish it as it gurgles with blood filling its mouth. Pushing the body off him, he went on to confirm the kill and search the body as the rest of the group cleared the area.

"High-value target has been neutralized. Impressive work, Thom, Nat."

"Alright, I'm ready here" said Thom standing up after acquiring some Covenant data pads the Zealot had on him and his wrist mounted energy dagger, which was now connected to his armor. With that group being eliminated, it was fairly easy for them to clear the rest of the facility to reach the back.

Two quick rounds killed the two grunts watching two ghosts and a revenant, allowing for the party to move forward to commandeer the vehicles in order to continue the trail upwards.

"Update, Noble: scans show another Covenant AA gun ahead of your location. I want you to neutralize that gun, by any means necessary." Radioed in Carter as they arrived at the location to see a large number of Covenant forces prepared. A force that included multiple wraiths and hunters.

Upon noticing them, they moved into defensive positions as the hunters charged up their energy cannons and fired. The three using the vehicles high maneuverability, were able to dodge the different types of plasma rounds sent at them, but they knew they couldn't keep this up for long without support. Something that Kat started calling for on the radio.

The group heard no reply for a few moments as they dodged and returned plasma fire when a voice answered the call.

With Naruto

Standing in the open back of the pelican as he looked at a map be projected out of his wrist. "This is Commander Naruto. I am on route to your position. I will be there in ten mikes" he stated looking on the map before zooming into another location. "If you disable the AA gun, I have a pair of sparrows near your location that I can direct to you. They could be there in two mikes if done" he answered as Kora started connecting with the pilots for their new mission.

With Noble Team

"Good copy! Give me your grenades!" shouted Kat in the heat of combat. Hearing her call, they each made quick passes at each other to toss to her their remaining grenades. With the grenades now in her possession, she moved the ghost she was driving into a ramming course with the AA turret. Stepping up, she placed the grenades in her seat before leaping out off of it and into the passenger seat of Nat's revenant. With the ghost free from her control, it collided with the turret making it go off in an explosion.

Seeing the turret down, they were happy about their success, but their luck ran out as both of the remaining vehicles sustained too much damage to be of use. Abandoning the vehicles, the three Spartans were sprinting in retreat as they fired at the enraged Covenant forces pursuing them. Wraiths joined in as they lobbed mortar rounds at them in the attempt to incinerate them.

One round landed too close forcing the three to slide across the ground in kickback. Stumbling off the ground, they moved to continue the retreat when the familiar sound of a sparrow's engines was heard. Appearing from the side of the cliff, two sparrows unleashed missiles immediately upon the wraiths and hunters in quick explosive kills as they used their turrets to mop off the infantry.

With the new support the three Spartans went on the offense and started gunning down the Covenant troops. A sparrow was performing a hover as it unleashed hell upon the enemy while the other was performing swooping passes as it guns down others. It was an easy cleanup for them, even when the Covenant dropped off reinforcements. Their reinforcement drop was followed by one of their own that dropped off marines and warthogs.

Over the next few minutes, the Sparrows, Spartan's, and marines had free live target practice until the area was "clear". A word that Kat spoke reloading her assault rifle upon killing the last grunt.

"Well done, Noble. ONI needs up-close recon on those Spires, we're gonna fly you the rest of the way. Jorge has a Falcon inbound to your position. Highlighting the LZ now." Comm in Carter as a nav point appeared in front of the team.

"Commander, I'm going to set up a forward observation post here." Spoke Kat signaling some marines to group up at her position for instructions.

"Copy that, I'm waiting on new intel. See what you can see, Carter out." He disconnects as a falcon grenade launcher variant arrives, carrying Jorge with a regular falcon and pelican following but maintaining a hovering position.

Nat looking closely at the pelican, could see it was a gunship variant that was armed to the teeth and the back latch was opened to reveal Naruto looking down at them.

"Need a lift, Spartan?" called Jorge breaking the stare she had on Naruto as it landed in front of them. Seeing Jorge in the passenger seat, she jumped into the gunner's seat as Thom manned the other.

"Spotted some nasty business in the canyon on the way down" he stated as the falcon lifted into the air.

"Which is why you will have an armed escort" added Naruto as the other falcon lined up next to it. The two sparrows from before now assumed to lead and the pelican gunship took the rear.

"Oh, that's what I like to hear commander" laughed out Jorge as the convoy pushed forward. Upon entering the first stretch they came across anti air forces. The sparrow pilots, noticing them first, gave a signal to each other before breaking away in different directions. The pelican pilot, receiving the information, pulled off from the convoy leaving just the two falcons.

"Pick your targets!" called out Jorge now coordinating and directing Thom's and Nat's fire. Upon entering range, they started unleashing grenade rounds at the enemy as the other falcon fired machine gun rounds.

The Covenant upon seeing them and taking fire, started lining up their aim to return fire when they were blindsided by a sparrow gun run. The sparrow unleashed devastation upon them before peeling off as another sparrow performed its own gun run. This repeated for a bit and when the Covenant finally wizened up, the pelican appeared and performed a heavy gun run killing anything that was left. When the pelican pulled off from its gun run, Naruto would be seen firing jutsu from the back to cover the movement.

With this effective strategy they cleared the cannon with zero losses until they came across a spire that projected an energy dome over it.

"There's the spire" called out the falcon pilot as the convoy maintained a hover just outside it.

"Latest intel suggests these spires may be projecting electromagnetic cloaking shields." Spoke up Auntie Dot as Kora added that "they shouldn't trust it".

"Solid copy, Dot." Spoke Carter as the pilot hesitates, hovering just outside it.

"Priority One, pilot. Gotta know what's in there." Jorge spoke reminding the pilot of the mission.

"Affirmative, sir... Here we go." he finishes piloting the Falcon flies towards the shield.
