"I'm seconds from putting your tablet under lock and key" my friend Clayse threatens "you've read that book more than a hundred times."
I indulge her, putting it aside. I couldn't help it, especially when it has my book crush as the antagonist best friend in the story. Midnight Mask was the first book in a series by Holly Mansgetty. The story follows Colin Erins whose father was murdered, his plan was to kill the daughter of the same man as vengeance but he ended up falling in love with her. Some parts were smutty since they both were messed up mob kids but the rest was them fighting and falling in love. Great romance in my opinion. I tagged the pages with my favorite character who id fallen in love with. Ryder Sinclare, the Ride or Die who'd take a bullet for the people he considered his family. he's described as smoldering like his friend Colin. He was protective and playful. Stubborn and very dangerous. He had no objections to killing for Colin even if it was someone innocent.
The ending was Ryder on his bike talking to Colin, going in search of someone. It left it like he was to be the main character of the second book. I waited, stalking the authors social media for any update. Nothing.
Clayse got up for another refill on her coffee when someone came into the shop by the chimes sounding. I peeked up subconsciously and did a double take. The man with his broad should and tall from strode in. his pale skin contrasted with dark wet hair, dark eyes that could stop traffic. My jaw went slack, if there was ever an image for Ryder Sinclare this was the model. The mix of lethal and attractive.
He scanned around, when his eyes came my way, I turned my eyes away nonchalantly.
Clayse returned to the table "look at that Biker Hottie."
Taking a quick glance, I saw he waited in line, one hand holding a motorcycle helmet. He stood casually, staring at his surroundings. He turned slightly our way; I took notice of his high cheekbones.
"He has a scar on along cheek".
"OH, even sexier" Clayse purred.
"that's the same place as Ryders scar" I mumble, immediately after the name left my mouth the man turned and looked directly at me. Startled I flinched knocking my drink over spilling it. Clayse helped me clean up the mess.
"Can't take you anywhere" she joked.
Blushing I faced away from where the man was. My neck felt hot, I tried rubbing the feeling away.
"he's taken a couple of looks at you" Clayse whispered smiling.
"Very funny."
"I'm serious, and the ladies in here are doing their best to get his attention."
I couldn't risk another look near him but the females in the other areas were all eye humping him. I snort, direct words from the Midnight Mask. I leaned in to tell Clayse when he passed right behind her. Our eyes locked and there was no tearing myself form him. He halted as well and it was as if he were the focal point in this entire moment. His jaw tightens, heat flooded my body. He narrowed his eyes at me inquisitively. Never breaking contact, he took a drink from his cup. When he moved it away his tongue licked his lips. My mouth dropped. I took in how much his face was like how they described Ryders.
At his throat was a tattoo of some sort, it looked like a tip of a knife next to the head of a snake. Same as in the book, an inaudible gasp left my mouth. The world around me started to fade.
"I'll be right back" I mumble, standing on trembling legs moving to the bathroom. I lean next to the door but not entering it. I needed to calm myself. I was letting a hot guy and my imagination run wild. Best to stick to reality. After a few minutes I felt close to myself again. With a guarded mind state I returned to the table. He was thankfully gone.
"you missed it" Clayse says while on her phone "Mr. steamy sat right next to our table but got an urgent call and left. He didn't even take his coffee" she motioned to the cup at the empty table.
"oh" was all I could say, I was about to ask about his voice when something was missing .
"where's my Tablet?" I looked about, checking my bag and around "Did someone steal it?"
Clayse looked around "Oh no, I'm so sorry Dani, I didn't even notice it."
"Ughhhh" distraught and disappointed, so mad someone stole it.
"Was anyone near?"
"Some people passed but I don't know. I reached to take my phone out to try and take a picture of the guy before he left."
"This sucks they're going to sell it and I'll never see it again" I pout.
"At least its password protected right?" Clayse reasons.
I shrug, my password was Ryder Sinclaire.
