Tailing the trio took some serious finesse as Eve kept turning around to see nothing while Miles kept his invisibility up. Whatever Eve was, she had crazy good instincts to keep turning to narrow in exactly where he was every single time.
Following them to their intended destination revealed a large scene of police officers cordoning off what looked like the aftermath of a fight between two natural disasters. Staying hidden behind them took some serious focus as he was constantly noticed by Eve while Felicia and Gwen were coordinating an emergency message alerting the officers nearby to an incident elsewhere regarding potential suspects related to this crime scene.
They all bought the fake message and all drove off, leaving the entire area just blocked off with police tape. They all coordinated their approach and entered the room where this whole mess seemed to originate. Gwen used her watch to scan the right room and nodded to Felicia and Eve that they were able to enter without issue. Remaining hidden still took effort as Miles was careful not to bump into anything with Eve already so aware of him when he tailed the group at a distance. He managed to tuck himself against the ceiling while Gwen activated a function of her watch that sent around a bunch of mini drones to scan the room with orange lasers. Collecting data on the surroundings compiled a translation of past events that could be replayed by her watch.
"Show me what happened."
From there, a recording of Spot could be seen and even heard as he excitedly spoke to himself over the realization that he needed more spots. It didn't make any sense to the others while Miles knew exactly what Spot was talking about.
Earlier in the day was when he dealt with the guy who looked so lanky and unfit all at once who seemed to be able to summon portals from his own body. Miles had been late to an important meeting because he was trying to stop the guy from robbing an actual ATM from a local corner store he frequented as Spiderman. Everything about the encounter felt like the typical Spiderman back and forth as he ignored all the talk about Spot being his arch nemesis to just keep acting as he usually did with the new villain of the week.
Throwing such careless insults did more damage than Miles realized as Spot built himself an impromptu supercollider out of random machine and appliance parts from the scrapyard. The recording was sped up at parts to try and identify the moment that would let them know when Web Weaver went missing.
Scrubbing the footage just revealed Spot's plan to absorb more dark energy to enhance his own abilities. He needed to reach a working supercollider that could provide him all the dark energy he could feast on. The last part of his homemade collider snapped into place as he then activated the machine and produced a small mass of the dangerous substance.
Between being completely atomizer and becoming stronger, the prospect of becoming more powerful far outweighed the fear of the negatives. Touching the mass caused an immediate reaction that pulled Spot between the beams of his homemade super collider. He was gathering more dark matter and it was making him laugh uncontrollably. Observing the events as they unfolded told Miles only one thing.
All of this was his fault.
He could have chosen to meet with his parents and let the previously sub-par villain take one ATM and avoid the fight that made him realize that he could become more powerful with this experiment. Making that meeting would have caused only a beneficial minus in the stress that caused Miles all this unnecessary stress. Returning to that lesson he had with Web Weaver, Miles felt the burden of choosing his opportunities poorly as this was because he just kept latching onto all opportunities that passed him by.
If only he let this opportunity go in favor of the one that involved people important in his life, none of this would have happened.
Spot was reaching his own potential. He kept laughing as he finally absorbed all of the dark energy available in this setup of his. All of the holes cut into the building were explained with this event. Floating in the middle of the room, a newly charged Spot was eager to demonstrate his new capabilities when something grabbed the villain and yanked them violently out of the air.
Going from newly charged up to being thrown into the dirt lot outside would make a lot of people seething with rage. Pulling himself out of the packed dirt and scanning the entire space for the one responsible for such a humiliating display presented Spot with absolutely nothing.
"Where do you think you're going, asshole?"
On the back of his neck was a crushing grip that sent his head back into the packed dirt with some serious force. Some of the buildings nearby even shook with the amount of force being used to attack Spot in such a humiliating way.
The recording had already gone outside of the room and left Gwen unable to fast forward too quickly in order to understand what happened here.
"Get off of me!"
Using his portals in a much more aggressive manner didn't fill Miles with confidence at all. Recognizing Web Weaver through his voice and appearance gave the young Spiderman enough context to the preceding fight that broke out and left the area completely eviscerated.
Pulling away from Spot let Web Weaver observe the next best course of action. Emerging from the dirt of the abandoned urban lot was a very pissed off villain who already had a chip on his shoulder the size of the fucking moon. An eruption of portals all aimed at Web Weaver created only one viable course of action for the vigilante killer.
Numerous blasts of high pressure water, loose earth, blazing heat, and even frozen winds strong enough to peel human flesh off of the bone all pelted one spot of the lot. Nobody there even moved with Miles doing so out of necessity. He wondered why it was none of the women who so thoroughly loved this one man still maintained their ability to remain calm.
Letting the hologram play out, Miles saw something that he couldn't make any sense over. Not even the buildings behind him were intact as the debris settled all around them. What remained standing where Web Weaver was became a sight Miles Morales would never forget.
A being with a cloak enveloped in some sort of unknown flames remained unchanged as the face underneath the hood no longer had just two large eyes.
Eight smaller eyes now adorned Web Weaver's face as the painted flames engulfing his cloak danced in the wind. He suddenly transformed and it was clear that he had completely transformed into something completely different. Not even a spider could weather that much punishment like it was nothing. On top of that, just looking at Web Weaver made him nervous for some reason. Like his instincts were telling him to be careful.
"What the- What are you?!"
Web Weaver didn't grace his question with an answer. What he did instead launched him forward in the blink of an eye at Spot. The recording practically flashed out of existence with both of the combatants suddenly going through the hole in the abandoned building across the street. A lot of crazy sounds and explosions went off inside of the dilapidated structure before another hole was punched out with Web Weaver crashing into the same building the lab that Spot built out of garbage along with scrap metal. Miles was struggling to remain hidden and keep up with the hologram playing in real time. He crawled across the exterior of the building to peek into the gaping wide hole punched into the wall to then see a chaotic battle that was far too intense for its own good.
Through the wall was Web Weaver using his cloak like some sort of prehensile fabric he controlled freely. Spot threw portals at him at breakneck speeds as projectiles to try and get rid of him. He dodged Spots portals like a fly riding the air pressure of a hand being swung at it. Just dancing around each one without actually touching them.
When one actually almost did hit Web Weaver, something incredible that Miles didn't expect either was that the portal thrown at almost point blank range was actually deflected with one swipe of the cloak. Spot was left momentarily stunned as Eric closed the distance and grabbed Spot by the neck with his actual right hands and proceeded to use their body as a battering ram through the walls. This explained the massive impromptu tunnel through the building to the left.
Breaching the other side of the building then led to Web Weaver jumping and slamming Spot into the dirt lot. The portal creating scientist felt his body failing to move properly after that last landing. Above him was the spider who was using their transformed webbing to latch onto the ground in several different spots to slingshot himself into Spot and end the fight. With the last of his willpower, Spot just opened up a portal directly underneath for him to escape through. He was about halfway out when the heels of Web Weaver's boots met with Spot's chest and sent them both through to another dimension.
Everybody who was watching was shocked as now both he and Web Weaver could be anywhere in the multiverse. Gwen and Gelicia were immediately fiddling with this holographic interface projecting out of their left hands while trying to get a lock on Eric as he was now seemingly jumping randomly to other multiverses. Only problem being that the signature wasn't staying still long enough for them to work out a destination to intercept them at.
"Gwen, he's still-"
"It'll stop! It has to be soon!"
Their eyes were desperately clinging onto hope as their signal was still jumping around. The others were all looking worried for some reason that Miles couldn't decipher without additional context. He wanted to help, but he was well out of his depth here.
"Gwen, hi!"
Out of nowhere, a hologram of Jessica Drew appeared right behind Eve. Having a bigger stature made it possible for Felicia and Gwen to quickly close out their dimensional devices without Jessica noticing.
"Where's our little anomaly? And where is Web Weaver?"
Gwen came off a bit harsher than intended since she was fighting the clock as well in finding Eric while he was fighting Spot all across multiple realities.
"You need to let us find him! He's out there fighting Spot and he's all that's keeping them from accomplishing whatever it was he intends to do."
Hearing that didn't fill Jessica with a lot of confidence.
On her end, she had Lyla tracking anomalies across the multiverse to see if that was the case. The AI did uncover Spot as he did seem to be moving erratically across multiple dimensions with seemingly no rhyme or reason. There was also a secondary signature that was traveling with Spot, though it gave off a reading that she couldn't quite discern. It gave off a consistent energy reading that wasn't recognizable against all known energy signatures.
All Gwen could do was ask that they let her and the others try and find Eric and Spot before sending in the cavalry. Jessica was hard pressed to agree since she already knew that Miguel would be sending in an army if he knew it was Web Weaver being the only one stopping Spot from running freely. They only saw each other as a liability, so even Jessica would be walking on eggshells if she didn't report this.
There were a few tense moments before Jessica told Lyla to stop before giving Gwen a look of trepid judgement. Letting out a deep sigh while closing her eyes, the mentor couldn't find it within herself to not let Gwen try to go and save her lover. She just hoped they would pull through for all of their sakes.
"... You don't have long. I can delay, but you find him and bring him in like every minute is your last. Got it?"
"... Thank you."
Signing off and allowing Gwen to go and find Eric with her team was all she could do for the time being. Once gone, Felicia opened up her interface yet again and found that the signature had seemingly come to a stop in one reality. She quickly showed Gwen and Eve the location and it seemed that the readings were indeed stable in this one dimension. Punching in the coordinates into her Spider Society watch opened up that same orange portal she and the others all jumped through to get into his reality.
He watched as they all jumped through with a look of determination mixed with some apprehension as they all hoped that they weren't too late already. With the portal in front of him, Miles knew better than to put himself in harm's way. Everything he could be now was behind him. Becoming a better Spiderman was all he needed to do. Staying would be the sensible choice.
But it wasn't as important right now.
Right now, all he could think about was how his former teacher looked to be in trouble. Based on the other's reaction, Eric was clearly against the clock of something bad. To just walk away didn't feel right.
Potential is the combination of opportunity and action.
If he were to go back and act like nothing ever happened, then he couldn't say he was proud of the kind of person who would do such a thing. Miles stopped himself and knew that he already made up his mind. Somebody he knew needed his help and it was up to him to do something about it.
Turning back around towards the orange portal, his eyes hardened as he made a break for it and dove head first into the rift. For the first time ever, he would be leaving home to become the man he wanted to be.
Going through the portal was like every single cell in his entire body was vibrating to the point of becoming jellied goop. He actually needed to put on his mask to keep his eyes from hurting so much as he kept flying headfirst through the spaces between realities.
Who are you?
Something spoke to him. Though the words were more like thoughts that weren't his own. Peering all around him, the strands between realities were all he could see. Countless universes all woven next to each other in a sophisticated network of strands interconnected next to each other. Only one area of his vision didn't have those luminescent strands visible to the naked eye.
Even more shocking was that the large mass of nothingness seemed to move towards him.
Almost his entire vision past the barrier of the passage he was taking was enveloped by pitch black. This nothingness didn't just feel like it was empty space, either. It felt like it had its eyes on him. Like it was curious about his existence.
I don't remember you, little spider.
Miles didn't know to be absolutely terrified or utterly confused as he was roughly spat out into the dimension ahead of him.
Mumbattan Earth - 50101
Being shot out at terminal velocity over a sprawling metropolis as congested at Mumbattan made his head spin wildly. Skating through the many inhabited streets and alleyways in a downward angle left Miles trying to not crash into anything while avoiding the throngs of innocent civilians. He was certain that he should've reached some sort of bottom, but he just kept on sliding down the streets like a sled down a vertical slope.
The only thing that let him regain his orientation was plummeting off of an edge into a free fall. Trying to launch a web so that he could stewing himself to safety led to him violently glitching out and plummeting even further. Thankfully he still had room to keep falling and was allowed to launch another web to swing to safety.
Now able to check his surroundings, Miles couldn't help but be captivated by this dimension's world of endless urban sprawl. So much had been built vertically and horizontally that he couldn't even take it all in at once. Colors and vibrancy all flooded the senses with sounds, sight, and smells that were truly mind boggling. After shaking off the initial shock, the task he had set out to accomplish returned to him suddenly as he quickly looked around for any signs of the others. Scanning the city skyline quickly got him a glance of three very distinct black and white dots above a different street between a bunch of high rise buildings.
Felicia was guiding them as she had her yellow goggles down to track Web Weaver's disappearing and reappearing signal through the city. They managed to get a lock on his whereabouts and were racing to try and catch up to him as he and Spot were finally visible after several minutes of racing through Mumbattan City.
Seeing him in his enhanced form didn't incite excitement in the others as much as it did Miles as he watched Eric shifting around like a phantom with his incredible cape. That form required a toll on him that wasn't that much of a concern in shorter bursts, but to keep Spot in check, he remained in that form several times longer than his recorded safety time. Going past that would just lead to him damaging his own body in a very serious way.
Spot hadn't a clue why this guy could interact with his portals like him. These things were just doorways that he could control since they utilized dark energy to tunnel through space and realities. Touching dark energy required one to be fused with the material completely, like himself. The other possibility completely escaped him.
Being tackled through another portal sent them both crashing through multiple apartment buildings that were all next to each other as Web Weaver kept pushing Spot through dozens of reinforced concrete walls. He was durable for no longer having human organs or flesh, but it still hurt like hell to be used as a battering ram like that.
Following the destruction of their fight, Gwen saw her chance to cut in with a slingshot kick when somebody called out to her and the others from out of nowhere.
"Guys, I'm here to help!"
Nobody expected to hear that voice here, considering They left the owner of said voice back in another dimension. Everybody, including Gwen, all turned to see Miles swinging towards them from behind.
"How the-"
"Miles?!"
Seeing more people coming to help Web Weaver left Spot no choice but to stop Gwen with an unexpected portal. He shoved his foot through a portal and kicked Gwen square in the side of her face. She went plummeting while Felicia went dicing for her while Eve went in to assist Web Weaver by swinging in with a strand of her symbiote form and used both of her fists to slam Spot over the head. He still managed to produce a portal and went through it before crashing into the ground alongside Eric. The cape was still wrapped around him and dragged the other man down into the dimensional rift.
Miles was already seeing that he wasn't welcome when he rejoined the group with Felicia carrying Gwen in her right arm and bringing her to a nearby rooftop to recuperate. Scaring him out of nowhere was the sudden grab from out of the air when he was distracted by Gwen's recovery.
"Why are you here, Miles?!"
An aggressive growl in Eve's voice immediately scared Miles a bit as he looked up at her as she carried him under her right arm while swinging with her left. Her once alien yet attractive face was twisted with actual anger as she bared her teeth at Miles. She lost her patience with him since she had to be the one to lend help to her beloved while Gwen and Felicia were sidetracked. It now made the divide between them and Web Weaver that much sider with Miles's interference.
"I-I-I um-"
"Quiet! You've done enough!"
He had been put in his place while being manhandled by the female symbiote while the others were catching up with the sight of Spot and Web Weaver still in the distance. Nobody was happy with the delay created with Miles's interference.
"Why are you here, Miles?! Did you follow us?!"
Gwen wasn't pleased in the least with her best friend's interference. Felicia was even choosing to ignore Miles as she was also pissed off at the fact that Eric had to keep suffering under the burden of his abilities with that one hiccup.
"Yeah. I mean, I thought that you guys needed help with Mr. Yim looking like he was in trouble."
Punishing Miles with lectures and all their spite wouldn't fix the situation. Eve let out an agitated huff before throwing Miles in an underhanded toss to let him continue swinging on his own again. Only Felicia possessed the mental prowess to work under stressful situations calmly to speak to Miles in a concise enough tone.
"You stay back and only push when we do. Understood?"
He agreed and followed behind with Felicia as she felt herself going soft for the kid. Miles wasn't trying to be an issue, but it didn't help that he showed up at the worst possible time. She gave him the briefest of explanations as to what they intended to do.
"Gwen and Eve will get Eric out of there. You and I will distract Spot and keep him at bay until he recovers."
Something about what she just said stuck out to him.
"Wait, recov-"
Another spasm of glitching sent him plummeting down towards the ongoing traffic far below. Felicia let out a frustrated sigh as she was about to go after Miles before he made a giant red stain all
over the ground. She could feel her blood pressure rise as she needed to save Miles instead of Eric. Thankfully, another saw the incident and already managed to snatch Miles up and pulled him up to a line he had created across two skyscrapers for Miles's safety. Going above and beyond, they threw their golden diablo yoyo attached to some webbing and managed to nail Spot in the side of his head and sent both Spot and Web Weaver plummeting into a rooftop pool. The splash was massive and towered about three stories from the impact.
Landing on the pike at the tip of the dome overlooking the pool was none other that Pavitr Prabhakar, Spiderman of Earth - 50101. He landed style points as he caught his weight on his right hand while looping his webbing in the left hand to catch his rebounding diablo in said loop. His casual demeanor as he just started to play with the golden yoyo that also could untwist as one of his golden bracers with a strand of webbing held by both hands keeping it spinning. Everybody landed around him directly onto the bronze plated dome right next to him.
"Hey, guys! Sorry about being late. I got caught up on the way here."
Gwen was the one to finally introduce the new face to Pavitr. Hearing the bite in her voice made Miles flinch a little from how in the right she was to feel that way.
"Hey, Pav. This is Miles and he WASN'T invited."
Being so light hearted did help ease the tension a little as the jovial tone he had undercut the bitter feelings all aimed at Miles.
"Oh, man. You weren't invited and you still came? Man, you are something else, brother. Also, Felicia, about those things you took from the museu-"
"Miles! Stop being distracted and let's go!"
Avoiding the question as usual left Pavitr sighing in reluctance again. Dodging him at every opportunity he tried to get her to return those missing artifacts became something that Felicia managed to become very good at. Either that or he had the worst luck in opportunities to do so.
Quickly shaking off his surprise, he followed Felicia as she swung in with Miles right behind her. Both Web Weaver and Spot emerged from a portal that spewed pool water all over the floor and unceremoniously dropped them off separated from each other. Web Weaver was about to lunge at Spot again when a thread of webbing and symbiote slime wrapped itself around his body and yanked him backwards. Seeing Gwen and Eve both holding him in their embrace was a bit of a shock since he thought he had been too focused on the fight itself.
"Eric, you need to turn it off! Now!"
He knew what Gwen was talking about. He had just ignored the painful aches and terrible agony up till this point. Deactivating his ability caused the control he had over his form to drop instantaneously and left him to deal with the rebound of being in this form for far too long. Gwen immediately used her suit's interface to activate the heating function of Eric's nanite suit while Eve merged with the black of his costume to start producing a higher metabolism to cause his core temperature to rise as quickly as possible. Eric went into hypothermic shock as his core body temperature dropped below normally survivable temperatures and left him curled up and shivering violently in a ball.
"S-s-s-s-o-o c-c-c-c-col-d-d-d-d-d."
Each breath he took came out rushed and sharp with his entire body convulsing from the lowered temperature. Trying to warm him back up was a challenge for both Gwen and Eve. Gwen even resorted to pulling his cloak over them both and deactivated her suit to undress and press her naked body against his torso to share her body heat. He felt absolutely frigid against her heated flesh. Eve just did what she could to accelerate his body heat while the suit bolstered his external temperature. Giving him as much warmth to prevent him from completely succumbing to failing internal heat became their only focus.
Pavitr had managed to follow up on Felicia with Miles following closely behind her with a blindsided strike with his diablo to the head yet again. Much to his amazement, Felicia in her most serious of combat abilities was somebody he didn't want to cross as he watched her dodge Spot's thrown portal to then land in a crouched stance and launch a kick that struck with the same speed and multiplicative force as a whip against Spot's jaw.
Her swift strike actually left Pavitr and Miles a bit stunned as the way she executed such a grateful yet deadly strike felt unreal in their memory. Had she hit them with that strike, they knew that their jaws would at least be cracked along a complete break wherever the blow landed. Meanwhile, Spot managed to look at Felicia in the face to see the look of absolute predatory killing intent that a hunting feline would use to hone in on their target. Those emeralds glowed with the heartless desire to end Spot where he existed then and there. Looking into those haunting eyes made him feel just as uncomfortable as he did fighting Web Weaver through the multiple dimensions he failed to lose him in.
Shaking themselves out if their stupor took a fraction of a second for the other Spidermen. Miles charged in with his webbing to accelerate his already impressive speed to try and land a punch against Spot. He couldn't even react fast enough as the portal that opened up redirected his own fist towards his face. His own speed was the disadvantage as his spider sense couldn't keep up with his own speed.
Swinging in to assist him, Pavitr struck at the same time as Felicia during her next attack to keep Spot on the ropes. Getting back up and shaking his head of all the junk knocked loose from his own punch gave Miles a moment to see his next opportunity to dive back into the fight.
Behind them, Web Weaver was now starting to come back with his body temperature now returning to healthy ranges. Delirium did get in the way at first as he almost fell back over with Eve catching Eric as he almost fell over. Facing her concerned expression showed how scared she was for him as he slowly regained consciousness.
"... Wh-where are we? Is this… We're in Mumbattan?"
Both Gwen and Eve desperately embraced Eric as he slowly realized what had just happened. Returning the embraces and apologizing for what he did only left the two females a bit relieved that he came back to them so soon. Or now, that was enough for them.
Following up with Spot after guaranteeing Eric's safety helped push Spot farther back as Gwen threw her own silk bomb and webbed Spot enough to the surrounding environment to prevent him from just using another portal to immediately escape. This was followed up with Eve rushing like a mad bull with her fist cocked back and slamming it into Spot's head with enough force to tear the webbing loose and send the villain flying with a head that was filled with nothing but stars and tweeting songbirds over the edge of the rooftop.
Everybody followed after Spot when he disappeared from sight. Miles was the last to leave the rooftop when he heard a disturbing sound behind him. Turning around, the sight of Web Weaver on all fours after he collapsed from exhaustion made him run back to check on his past version of his teacher.
"Mr. Yim! You okay?!"
Helping the man back up did show how much Web Weaver was struggling to stand on his own two feet. Waving Miles away did little to instill confidence in the teen as he let Eric return to the fight in his exhausted state. He just hoped that he wasn't making a mistake in letting his mentor return to the fight so soon.
Chasing Spot proved to be a challenge as he no longer had Web Weaver incessantly hunting him down through multiple realities. One portal sent Pavitr crashing into Gwen midair, to which Web Weaver used his specialized webbing method to chase after Spot through a crowded market with Miles hot on his tail.
"Look, man! I think we got off on the wrong foot!"
Between Miles and Web Weaver, Web Weaver was already trying to end Spot with a quick retrieval of his right knife. It immediately overshadowed Miles's mild attempts to placate the villain he humiliated earlier that day. Between the guy who casually dismissed him and the one treating him as a threat worthy of killing in cold blooded murderer, Spot already had his preference of arch-nemesis.
"At least this guy won't second guess me! What have you done so far?! Just act like nothing you did even mattered! So just-"
Out of his blind side, a knife buried itself into the side of his neck and was only stopped when Spot put his hand up to resist the thing completely plunging into his neck. Turning back to the one who tried to kill him, what Spot saw wasn't the eyes of a potential hero who could make his name known as this master criminal worthy of fear. No, the thing he saw stabbing him in his neck to try and actually end his life was a being who only saw value in his death. Even without their enhanced form, they almost ended Spot's life with just a single strike. As much as he liked to be knowledgeable, having his head cut off wasn't a scientific method he was willing to test out.
Throwing Web Weaver into a bunch of billboards with a drop kick completely demolished the advertising on that entire rooftop with how hard he launched Web Weaver away from himself. Spot held his hand against the wound that was leaking dark energy and just sought the source of potential dark energy he sensed instinctively. His sensitivity to potential dark energy was able to pick up on a working supercollider ready for him to use without issue.
"Mr. Yim! Are you okay?!"
Miles panicked as he tried to help Eric back to his feet. He just waved for everybody to keep chasing after Spot without stopping. As much as those who wanted to help him, they knew that Spot was the more immediate threat. Pulling his younger teacher out of the wreckage let Web Weaver rejoin the chase with his unique Web slinging style. Miles saw this style and even asked then about how it was they managed to achieve this unique style of web travel.
"Mr. Yim, how do you swing so fast? If you don't mind me asking…"
Eric didn't hesitate to disclose some pointers that he used himself to master this accelerated form of web slinging. He even gave his potential future student a few cartridges of his unique pressurized webbing midair as a consolation for even asking for a new method of advancing his world as Spiderman.
"Just stay focused. You'll be alright."
Again, that usual manner that Eric always tried to instill confidence into Miles made the young man nervous. This experienced combatant who knew to end his enemies in an instant was comforting somebody who only knew how to fight as a spectacle fighter. Recognizing his own shortcomings as Spiderman was something that Miles became increasingly good at in recent times. So Eric had to demonstrate a more exaggerated form of his web slinging style for his future pupil to understand how he maneuvered with his webbing.
Alchemax Labs
Breaching the inner security of the most prestigious labs to exist within the country wasn't an issue for a guy who could just walk through space itself. Chasing after Spot, everybody just managed to slip into the portal left behind by their target. Going after Spot inside of the building was another matter altogether with how far ahead he was by just chaining spacial rifts one after another. He had a straight shot down a very long hallway with his destination just in front of him.
"Felicia, I really want to talk about the things you stole from-"
"Pav, focus!"
All Pavitr could do was sigh in resignation as Gwen shut down the conversation then and there. He didn't know why he still bothered after the many requests he failed to bring up with the seductive cat burglar. Trying to even bring it up felt like taking a piss in the wind at this point.
More importantly, Spot was getting too far ahead of them. His target was directly in front of him and he already spotted the emergency security barrier on one of the consoles overlooking this dimension's super collider. Eric had to get in before he pushed the button. Miles got a firsthand look at how Web Weaver fully utilized his web slinging style and committed it to memory. Leaping forward, the first shot was used to break the inertia that was the worst resistance to overcome. Following that Web were the subsequent webs that built up his speed until he became a white and black blur that closed the gap and slipped past the closing barrier by the skin of his teeth.
Doing this slammed him into the protective barrier of the console room protecting the scientists from the energy of the collider. The glass cracked to form a web like pattern all around where he landed over the multiple panels that absorbed the impact. Looking up at Spot, his eyes were honed in on his target with a deep bloodlust. Spot knew that this guy meant business as he could feel the unnerving chill up his spine telling him to treat this spider as a deadly threat.
"Okay, now THAT is cool."
Pavitr spoke for mostly everybody as the image was indeed haunting to look at.
"Do you ever know when to GIVE UP?!"
Throwing another weapon iced portal at Web Weaver, Eric leapt out of the way and flipped onto the floor before sprinting at Spot with both daggers drawn to start attacking the villain with a flurry of blows. Being locked behind the barrier had everybody trying to strike at it to try and disrupt it while Gelicia brought up a console through her suit's interface to hack the security system. Not even Eve with her enhanced strength could get the barrier to drop with her fists striking at the forcefield with overwhelming force.
On the other side, Spot located the head researcher and dropped the older woman in front of the main console and told her to activate the initialization sequence if she didn't want to die. Still being too fatigued to enter his altered state left Eric focused on trying to kill Spot before he could have a chance to absorb the dark energy produced by the super collider. Several slashes and stabs did make Spot bleed out more dark energy stored in his body, but it was still happening too slowly.
Hacking a high tech lab security system took longer for Felicia compared to most others as she needed to keep bypassing redundant firewalls to reach the command nodes. She kept at it while trying to not lose her cool with the mounting frustration of not being able to help Web Weaver.
Miles pressed against the barrier and felt the tingle of the energy present. He hatched an idea as he pressed his fingertips into the barrier. His venom strike poured into the barrier and started to charge the shield to critical levels. Unfortunately, the excess was just being filtered out before he could overload the system. The harder he pushed, the last little bit of energy he needed to break it kept being regulated by the emergency breakers. All he could do was just push harder in vain.
Out of nowhere, a sudden rock rift could be heard from behind everybody. They all turned around to see a spider running up with his guitar out as he built up an explosive amount of power with his rock solo. He jumped high above everybody else and punched through the barrier with a massive slam as he charged through with ease. Landing with his guitar in hand did his rock aesthetic complete justice with his eighties rocker appearance.
"Hobie!"
"Hobie!"
Both Gwen and Pavirt were just happy to see somebody that was able to break the barrier. Felicia and Eve didn't waste time as they both went to work trying to help Web Weaver in stopping Spot. Eve immediately charged in with her fist cocked back and swung with enough force to punch a hole clean through the reinforced metal floor while Felicia went to stop the scientist. When she managed to pull away the researcher with her grapple line, the sequence had already been initiated with only the emergency protocol needed to shut it down. She desperately asked the researcher for the shutdown procedure when Spot noticed her and immediately dropped a nearby piece of heavy machinery on top of the command module. Sparks flew with the only means to stop the collider now crushed underneath a half ton of metal and wires.
Taking the opportunity to strike while Spot was distracted, Eric launched off of Eve's hand as she threw him at Spot where he sank the tip of his knife into the villain's chest. They let out a pained cry with Web Weaver on top of him and sinking the weapon deeper into Spot as he had straddled him and pushed with his knees stuck to the floor. Having a body now composed of dark energy did enhance Spot's strength the more he absorbed, but he still was no match against a spider of this caliber.
Hobie, Pavitr, Gwen, and Eve all charged in to assist Web Weaver. Without any other option, Spot had to send out a portal with his leg and swiped at all of them with a single portal. They all landed in an unceremonious pile back near the entrance on top of each other. Having such a soft plump form helped cushion everybody else on top of her assets. Never in his entire life did Hobie ever experience such a perky yet pillowy set of breasts in his entire life as his head was bounced off of her tits. His kingdom for a woman with Eve's body.
Behind Web Weaver, Miles knew he needed to pick his opportune moment to strike. He made the right decision as he avoided being teleported with the others. Once he saw Spot drop his guard, he used his webbing to swing above to see that Web Weaver still had Spot on the ropes. Taking a closer look let him see the knife sinking into his chest with both of their arms fighting for dominance. Utilizing the webbing given to him by Eric gave him the chance to truly test out their capabilities. Firing off two lines next to Spot on the floor gave Miles the chance to test how this new tension webbing felt. Knowing that they were capable of shrinking getting and experiencing how much force they produced were two completely different things. Both of his shoulders felt like they were going to rip out of their sockets compared to using his regular webbing as he needed to brace his entire body for the kick he wanted to launch.
Firing his entire body like a ballista bolt at the hilt of the knife sent Miles flying several times faster than he was prepared for. He almost lost his orientation when he felt his stomach slam into the base of his skull. That stuff was no joke as he sent the entire knife through till it hit the metal behind Spot. What came next was a sickening scream of pain as Spot roared out loud with both spiders mortally wounding him terribly.
"AAAAAAA!"
A second surge of desperate strength sent Web Weaver and Miles flying backwards as he tried to get back up while nursing the wound pouring with liquid dark energy from his most critical wound. Pressing his right hand against the injury didn't help as a torrential amount of the dark energy he nabbed from his mockup super collider. A black viscous liquid like blood poured out of his wound as he stumbled up to his feet. Holding his hands up covered in dark energy caused Spot to panic as he realized that he could be wounded and has been so just now. Fear set in as he looked back at Web Weaver. The killer had his sights set and was about to go in for another lethal strike when the particle collider finally ignited into a full on eruption of dark energy. Everybody was shocked as Spot ran for the growing black mass during the momentary distraction.
Miles managed to web Spot with Eric clutching onto the young man and gripping onto him tightly to try and stop Spot from absorbing more dark energy. Right behind them were the other spiders and even Felicia with Eve as they all used whatever they had to stop Spot from getting closer to his objective. He was far too close for his goals to be stopped now. Using multiple portals in a desperate scramble, the lines were all cut again and again until he finally slipped the last line and was fully absorbed into the floating black mass until the entire facility fell deathly silent. Nobody dared to break the silence as only one naive spider spoke out of turn with the worst thing he could have said in that instance.
"Well, looks like another easy job for-"
"Nononono-"
"Wait, stop-"
"Don't say it-"
Too late.
The entire room was engulfed in dark energy bursting out from the center of the chamber where Spot had absorbed all of the dark energy he could ever hope for.
