Chapter Five- Let Our Fates Fall Where They May

Winterfell- Library Tower

Deep within Winterfell's Library… Naruto sat there wondering about his ideas and plans to transform the North. Initially, he was excited and full of energy and life regarding these plans. And now, he wondered if he was making a mistake. Perhaps, he was moving too fast. He had no idea if he could truly trust anyone. His life has been shaken up interestingly. He would be married soon enough and have to build a life with a woman he did not know about. Worst of all, he wondered if the prosperity he and Kurama would create would end up taking away from the people. And then… some would always be jealous and would desire more. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that human weakness could not be killed.

With his ability to sense negative emotions, he did not like the things he was feeling. He had no idea what he should do. He wanted to help the North and its people… but when his help came, there would be no going back. There is no way he could hide the future prosperity of the North forever.

He was shaken out of his thoughts when he saw Kurama sit in front of him, wondering what he was thinking.

Kurama smiled. "It is rare for you to sit here so quietly without doing anything. Truly, wonders never cease."

Naruto sighed. "Are we making a mistake in helping these people, Kurama?"

Kurama shrugged. "You will have to be more specific."

Naruto sighed. "You know what I am talking about. What we plan on doing will change the North forever. In 10-20 years… the North will see growth and prosperity unlike any other. Hell, five years will be enough for serious changes. The metallic constructs we are going to mass-produce are going to change the game. People will lose their jobs at a rapid rate. Not to mention no matter how much we give; people will want more. I am not afraid of anyone. Yet, I am not in the mood to shed anyone's blood. Am I being worried for no reason?"

Kurama sat there for a few moments… gathering his thoughts. And then he spoke.

"Naruto… you chose this path and now you must walk it, no matter the price you have to pay. You have chosen to play your games. You cannot back out now. Do not be afraid. Human weakness is something you cannot fix. The South was always content in letting the North starve because they didn't care. These people in Westeros- the majority of them do not care for the troubles of others or their people. Tywin Lannister is dirty scum who enjoys the misery of those who are less fortunate than he is. Roose Bolton… I have learned some disgusting things about that guy and his ancestors. I do not like the people in Westeros, I don't care about them. You made a promise… so keep it. And don't worry about fighting. Naruto… you have to do what is right, not what is easy. If the South decides to play their games here… there are ways to tear the South apart. And if that does not work… we will kill who needs to be killed. We will kill them all. And if we don't… the lady of the Forge will. That woman itches to use the weapons she makes. Those three Northern Lords saw her beauty… they cannot comprehend her rage."

Naruto sighed. "You are right. I won't bring this up again. Whatever happens… the three of us will face it together. I made a promise… and I will keep it. I won't let anyone step over me. If I have to get my hands dirty… so be it."

Kurama smiled. "Excellent. What else do you have on your mind?"

Naruto paused before speaking. "Do you know what Daenerys Targaryen might be up to now?"

Kurama shrugged. "She is still training and trying to pull the sword from the ground. Viserys is surprisingly still and quiet. Or, he is scheming some kind of fool's game in his mind. The Shadow Clones keep me appraised of everything. It will be a long time before anyone needs to worry about her. She has no interest in the Throne… and that would be best for her. The Iron Throne corrupts and destroys. It's not worth it. If Daenerys Targaryen ever comes back to Westeros… it will probably be for Dragonstone. We can help her take it back if she wants aid. For now, let's just keep playing the game our way and do what is needed. Now, how do you plan to fix the issues you have thought of in your mind?"

Naruto tilted his head for a moment and then he spoke. "We can keep the metallic constructs to initially start laying the groundwork for roads, Glass Gardens, and protection. We will create a larger one to rebuild Moat Cailin. In due time… we will keep the constructs' roles reduced for protection and battle. We can teach the North's people about advanced farming techniques and special crops once they have earned that trust."

"With regard to weapons making… after the constructs have mass-produced the weapons and armor to be made… we can teach the blacksmiths how to make certain things. Of course… the real knowledge of Superweapons and improving Valyrian Steel and elemental weaponry… we keep to ourselves. I am never going to give anyone a Superweapon… unless they are worthy."

Kurama nodded. "Indeed. We could also create education centers that will teach people these crafts and allow them to continue earning a livelihood once they have earned that right. We could even print and make our own currency."

Naruto smiled. "Now that last part… sounds like a declaration of war. I am down for that. A war with Robert Baratheon and the Lannisters would allow us to cut loose. What do you think about that?"

Kurama smiled. "There's the old Naruto."

Out of the corner of his eye… Naruto could hear hushed voices and someone trying to watch him. Naruto got off his chair and opened the door as he saw the sheepish and surprised looks of Brandon and Arya Stark. Kurama simply stared at them and they were scared.

Kurama was the first to speak. "Has no one told you that it is bad manners to eavesdrop on private conversations?"

Arya and Brandon looked chastised as they mumbled out an apology. "We are sorry. We did not mean to eavesdrop… we were just curious."

Naruto spoke next. "Curious about what?"

Arya was the one who spoke next. "We did not mean to offend. We were just curious to know more about you. You are the one who made those weapons that my father brought back. We were just curious as to how you made them."

Kurama spoke again. "We owe you nothing. We do not care one fucking iota about your titles. Respect is earned. Trust is earned and neither of those things are inherited or purchased."

Naruto smiled. "Please forgive my brother, Lady Arya. He did not mean that… well, not all of it."

Arya spoke again with a bit of bite in her tone. "I am not a Lady."

Naruto smiled. "Oh, why is that? You are a noble's daughter and of a high rank… that makes you a Lady."

Arya shook her head. "Sansa and mother are ladies. I am not. I want to be a fighter, a warrior. Being a Lady is stupid."

Brandon swore he saw Naruto's gaze darken for a moment. It had frightened him as Naruto spoke again.
"Please, come inside. I wish to speak to you for a moment."

Arya and Brandon did as they were told as Arya sat on a chair opposite Naruto. Naruto spoke clearly and firmly. He did not want to do this… but Arya needed to know some truths and not take life for granted and appreciate what she had.

"Tell me, Mischievous Wolf, do you know what would happen if you were not born a Lady?"

"No, not really."

Naruto smiled sadly. "You would grow up on the streets poor. You would struggle to live and survive for scraps of food and warmth. You would have to fight every day to live and it would not be easy. And God forbid if you ended up enslaved or turned into a whore by the greedy cunts that populate this fucking world."

Brandon gasped as Arya had no idea what to say. A tear had fallen down her eyes and Naruto wiped her tear. He hated saying those things but he felt it would be worth it for her to hear them.

Naruto sighed as his voice became soft and gentle. Arya looked at him as he spoke. "Arya, I am sorry if I hurt you with my words. However, I do not regret them. You need to understand that life must never be taken for granted. You must appreciate what you have and not hate that you cannot be something else. You have a family who loves and cherishes you. You sleep in a soft, warm bed and you can eat to your heart's content. This is the life a Lady lives. Think for a moment… how annoyed your sister would be if you became a better Lady than her."

Arya chuckled for a moment as the idea seemed glorious. Naruto spoke again and his voice was serious. He had pulled out a cloth bag and opened it as Arya and Brandon gasped. Inside was a bow that was beautiful and ornate. It conveyed power. And when Naruto lifted it and grasped the bowstring and hit it… it created a sound that resembled a powerful attack.

Arya and Brandon were transfixed as Naruto put the bow down. He turned towards the sword that lay beside the bow. Arya was transfixed again by the presence of that blade. It was thin and flat… and yet sharp and bright. The handle was smooth and polished and Naruto unleashed a strike with the blade. It was as if the metal sang to her soul.

Naruto put the blade down and spoke to Arya. "if you promise to behave and attend your lessons… I will make sure you come to wield these weapons. Earn my trust… and these weapons will be yours. However, if your heart is weak… these weapons will betray you. Do not take this lightly."

Arya seriously nodded. "On my honor as a Stark… I will do as you say."

"We will see what those words are worth."

Naruto then turned to Brandon. "And then there is you. What's this I hear that you like to climb, disregarding all safety risks?"

Brandon took offense to that. "I am very careful."

Naruto shook his head and placed his hand on his head. "One day… you will fall and be unable to walk. You cannot imagine what that feels like, okay? Your mother carried you for nine months and kept you safe. However, it's the best thing to see your mother cry and agonize over you as you are lying in a bed, unable to keep your drool in your mouth, right?"

Brandon looked down on the ground. He thought he was getting something special… and received a lecture in return. Naruto shook his head as he ruffled Brandon's hair.

"You say you want to be a warrior? A warrior is smart and knows how to use their head and can sense when a difficult situation may arise and knows how to navigate it. A warrior also knows when to call for help when needed and can be resourceful."

Naruto then pulled out a scroll and wrote on it and formed a hand seal. A puff of smoke appeared as Arya and Brandon's eyes bulged. What emerged was body armor and a sort of helmet. He gave them to Brandon. It felt heavy and light at the same time. Naruto stabbed the armor with a blade and they were shocked as the blade was unable to pierce the armor.

"This is called body armor. Get used to wearing it. It is low maintenance. When you climb… it can serve as great protection. For the sake of your mother, warrior, learn to wear it."

Brandon simply nodded with a smile as Naruto smiled as well. While he hated to be harsh with them… he hoped his speech helped them to live their lives in a safe and better manner.

Naruto noticed the Direwolf enter the room as Arya's eyes lit up. Arya hugged the Direwolf as it thumped its tail on the floor.

"Why don't you two and go and give the wolf a tour? She is soon to give birth any day now and I am sure she just wants to find a safe place to do so."

The two eagerly nodded as the wolf followed after them. Kurama sighed as he disappeared in a puff of smoke. As Naruto went to leave… he saw Sansa Stark at the doorway, her eyes narrowing in curiosity and interest as she observed him.

Naruto stilled for a moment. "May I help you, my Lady?"

Sansa walked forward slowly and circled him like a wolf circled its prey. Naruto found it amusing as Sansa observed him, taking in every detail as she spoke softly.

"You have paid a large price for your wisdom, right?"

Naruto said nothing as he narrowed his eyes and observed her. "Who wants to know?"

Sansa shrugged as he spoke again. "Your secrets are your own. You don't owe me anything. I will admit… your presence intrigues me. I do hope to learn more about you soon enough."

As Sansa left, Naruto heard her melodious voice again. "Just so you know, Naruto of House Uzumaki, there is no lady better than me."

Naruto sighed as he sat down on his chair. "Women… you cannot live without them."

Winterfell Courtyard-Training

Naruto had made his way to Winterfell's courtyard where had gained permission to train solo. The only prying eyes would be the ones watching from above. Naruto had no interest in putting on a show. He was always serious when it came to bettering his body and his mind. He needed to work out some steam after the things he had learned. The South enjoyed playing a game. Well, it was time to pay the game in a nastier way. The things he learned about Tywin Lannister, Roose Bolton, and the nobility, in general, filled him with a dark rage. He was no longer going to take it easy on evil people. It was time to play a game where no one would realize what he was truly capable of. And after it was all said and done… he would change the game in a way that the Conqueror never could.

After warming up with some stretches that people seemed to view as strange… Naruto began a light session of shadowboxing to prepare himself for his actual workout. He went through the motions of jab, hook, cross, uppercut, bobbing, and weaving side to side. He found himself in a perfect rhythm as he began humming a simple tune.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Ned's sons approach him with curiosity and questions of their own.

Robb was the one to speak first. "Lord Naruto… what is it you are doing?"

Naruto shrugged. "Its exercise. You know, training the mind and the body. This is an art that originated in a faraway land. It falls under the class of "Unarmed Combat Techniques". You never know when you will find yourself without a weapon. And in that situation… you must remember that your body is a weapon."

Robb nodded as he saw the wisdom in those words. "is it possible you can teach us these things?"

Naruto thought about it. "When you have earned that right."

Before Robb could say anything… Naruto spoke again. "Is there something on your mind, Jon Snow?"

Jon chose his words carefully before he spoke. "Lord Naruto… I was wondering if you would spar with us?"

"What brought this on?"

Jon and Robb looked at one another and then Jon spoke again. "it's just… you make such good weapons and we are curious to see how we would fare against the man who has made them."

Naruto shrugged. "Sure, we can spar tomorrow. I have some work that needs to be finished. Is there another reason behind this spar?"

Jon looked down at the ground before he spoke. "If we can best you… you must please tell me why you spoke to my father about legitimizing me as a Stark."

Naruto narrowed his eyes for a moment. "If you can best me… I will tell you what my reasons were regarding your legitimization."

"And you, Young Wolf? Is there something you want as well?"

Robb thought about it for a moment before he spoke. "if I win… I wish to learn from you about being a lord."

Naruto was confused. "I am sure your father taught you all that was needed to be a Lord."

Robb shook his head. "You are wiser than he is, Lord Naruto. You see the world differently. I could learn a lot from you and your Elder Brother."

Naruto sighed. "Very well. I accept those terms as well."

Naruto opened a scroll from his pocket and began writing something on it as Jon and Robb looked on with fascination. He then placed his palm on the scroll as it glowed and a puff of smoke formed. Emerging from that smoke was a small wall, composed of hardened, exotic metals and concrete. Naruto did not notice it… but he already had a group of spectators watching him consisting of Sansa Stark and her curious, rambunctious siblings.

Naruto took a deep breath and got into a combat stance. And then… faster than the eye could see, Naruto began punching that wall. He delivered a series of fast and sharp blows that made the wall groan. The ground began to split and quake as Robb and Jon's jaws dropped. They had never seen anything move so fast and hit so hard without a weapon. They felt as if they were witnessing a scene from the Age of Heroes itself.

Naruto began unleashing elbows and kicks as his speed, pace, and precision increased. Naruto was unleashing controlled, immense rage with each blow as the metal groaned. Surprisingly, the wall stood still as Naruto began to grit his teeth and unleash devastating strikes.

The sounds of the ground quaking had brought Ned and Catelyn Stark from their solar and outside to the proceedings. No one said a word. Ned was silent and transfixed along with the rest of his family. They were joined by Rodrik Cassel and his son Jory. Rodrick was the Master of Arms at Winterfell… and for the first time in his life… he was witnessing something that was impossible.

Meanwhile, Naruto refused to quit. His rage was being driven by the information he had learned. The ground split around him and quaked as his muscles rippled. The knowledge of Tywin Lannister destroying two Great Houses of the Westerlands, condemning a woman to be raped by 100 men… and the fate of Elia Martell and her children droving him into a wild frenzy. The knowledge of Roose Bolton and who he was made him mad. And then there was the Sack of King's Landing… and how the innocents paid the price. It was always the innocents in the world of Westeros that always paid the price.

Bloodlust and rage filled his eyes. And this wall refusing to break pissed him off. He raised his hand and steam formed around it. Naruto was going to use a Boil Release-enhanced attack to try and crush that wall. Before he could do so… a spear had struck the ground near him and he heard a melodious voice.

"That is enough. You still have a long way to go in controlling your rage, Maelstrom."

Naruto recognized that voice immediately. He turned his head and saw a raven-haired, ivory-skinned woman with green eyes and a small smile on her face. She approached him and spoke softly as the people around him were transfixed by that melodious voice. Naruto shook his head as he realized he had lost control.

The Lady stopped speaking as everyone in the courtyard could not help but stare at him and that woman. Naruto saw his blood-soaked hands which were healing instantaneously as he grit his teeth in anger. The Lady simply picked up her spear, which transformed into a ring… and walked away, disappearing as fast as she appeared. Naruto surveyed the damage around him and realized that there would be more questions now than ever before.

No one had dared to move a muscle… except Sansa Stark. She simply walked down to the courtyard and observed Naruto with narrowed eyes. She walked closer to him and held his hands in her own. Tearing his hands from her… he stopped when he heard her voice.

"You should see the Maester. You do not want your hands to get infected.

Naruto smiled. "I don't need to do that. Your concern is unwarranted."

Naruto sealed the wall away and began repairing the ground around him with an Earth Release technique. Once again… everyone was speechless as they saw with their own eyes as the ground repaired itself. Naruto cursed his foolishness and his rage. He needed to move on from his past. He had no interest in explaining chakra or how he could fight so well.

He looked to Ned Stark and spoke. "I apologize, Lord Stark. I lost control of my anger. I assure you, it will not happen again.

Ned and his wife said nothing as they nodded dumbly.

Naruto was stopped by Sansa's voice again.

"Lord Naruto… do you know who that person was?"

Naruto narrowed his eyes as he looked at her for a brief moment. For the first time… Sansa saw the power and the wisdom behind the gentle heart of Uzumaki Naruto.

"That woman is the most powerful thing possibly alive on this planet. She is the greatest Weapons Master and Maker. She is the Lady of the Forge."

Chapter End

That is the chapter everyone. Please read and review generously. I hope you all enjoy it. Long story short, my day was wasted in going somewhere I did not need to go… but at least I got this done.

Naruto still has a lot of rage within him and he needs to learn to control it. He has a long way to go. We saw some interactions with Naruto and the Stark family. And more is to follow.

Sansa Stark is carefully observing Naruto and learning as much as she can about him. Ned will speak to her soon about her marriage to Naruto… and so far, she might not seem averse to the idea; she might actually enjoy being his wife. The next chapter is where Naruto interacts with Robb and Jon and the Stark family speaks about him some more. We will see possibly 3-8 chapters in the North before Naruto is introduced to the Northern Lords and we start getting some POV's in King's Landing, other parts of the North, and the South.

Please do share your ideas and thoughts. There may be another interlude soon, involving Daenerys Targaryen. There is much to write before shit hits the fan. By the way… I am also thinking about writing a Naruto/Supergirl story, a Naruto/Marvel story… and possibly a Naruto/DC story where he ends up in Themyscira. The Naruto/Supergirl story is one I need ideas for… but the Naruto/marvel might take place in the X-Men movie timeline… or take place after the Chitauri Invasion. Please do share your ideas.

Stay safe and well wishes to you and your loved ones. See you all in another story or update.
