Here it is, the fifty-second full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released early because of I am still ahead in my drafting of this story and because this chapter is so short that it doesn't feel like it should be the weekly upload chapter. This is the shortest chapter so far but it's for a good reason because the next chapter, that I'd initially planned to combine with it, has a rough draft of 11k words so it will likely push the record for longest chapter to date so I had to keep it separate and y'all will be getting that tomorrow. Otherwise, this is basically a transitional and set up chapter for the next one as we move into a mini, original arc before the next arc from MHA that will be covered. Anyway, that is all the administrative stuff I have for now and as there are no review questions to answer or guest reviews to respond to I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. Now, though, it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 52nd full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 52: Dorm Move In Day
It was a few days after all the students of Class A had had their parents, or in Marinette and Adrien's case their legal guardian, give permission for them to leave home and move into the dorms that U.A. had built next to the campus to house the students in the wake of Kamino Ward. They'd all been told to pack up what they wanted to bring but that they wouldn't need a bed, desk, chair or chest of drawers though they were allowed to bring them should they want their own. Other than that, U.A. would cover the costs to have the items shipped to the school the day before to make the move in easier.
That had been the day before and today was the day that the class moved into their dorm. The dorms themselves were called Heights Alliance and were a series of identical buildings built in 3 days with one class per dorm. They were all outside their dorm that had 1-A and Alliance on the front of it while in their summer uniforms.
Though it wasn't yet the start of the semester, they were still a few weeks away from that, they'd been told to come in their uniforms and as such had. It was because they were in their uniforms that they all noticed the new scars on Midoriya's lower right forearm and the large on that ran the length of his upper right arm. The other odd thing that people noticed was that Marinette had a ¾ length black compression shirt on under her shirt which wasn't comfortable for her in this weather but was to hide Momo's enthusiastic temporary tattooing that still hadn't even faded.
Marinette and Adrien stood together looking up at the dorm building. It was a 5-story building with two clear wings on the sides and a center that wasn't as big. It was also pretty modern with a white first floor exterior, complete with columns, same with the middle part that had the 1A and Alliance signs on it while the wings were symmetrical and made of bricks with indents on the sides.
To complete it there was even a brick entranceway to it with stairs leading up to the front door and a manicured lawn and hedges on each side that cut it off from the other dorm buildings near it. The design was quite clever as it made each building feel like it was the only one there. It was certainly impressive, and that was just the exterior because they still had yet to enter the building.
The rest of the class had a mix of expressions from shock to excitement, to amazement and indifference at the sight of their new home until they graduated from U.A. This was it, the next step in their careers at U.A. but first their homeroom teacher had a few things to say to them about various things as he walked out of the dorm building and towards them.
"Given everything that has happened, I was glad that we were able to bring Class A back together." Aizawa said to them as he addressed his students. "None of you have left us which is good."
"So, we all got the go ahead to move on campus." Sero said smiling to everyone.
"It took a lot of convincing for my parents." Toru said with a sigh of relief. "But we got there in the end."
"I was pretty concerned about mine too." Jiro added. "But they were persuaded eventually."
"It makes sense, you got the worst of the gas attack." Ojiro said to them. "Well, you two and Agreste."
"Yes but I didn't have a problem, advantage of already being away from home so this was nothing to us." Adrien said. "Better actually as now our parents are much happier with us being on campus rather than living with a guardian in Tokyo."
"Yeah, no problems here." Marinette said furthering the backstory of how they'd gotten permission from their parents to allow for their legal guardian to sign the paperwork. "Really a better solution for us."
"We're glad to see that the teachers got to comeback too." Tsu said to Mr. Aizawa. "I was afraid you wouldn't be allowed, the people at the press conference seemed pretty upset with you guys."
"Yeah." Ochaco added as they all remembered the hostile press conference where Aizawa and Vlad King defended their actions at the camp, apologized, bowed, and used it as a way to mislead the villains so that the raids could be executed. "Those were intense."
"I was surprised as well but circumstances have changed." Aizawa said in his usual tone while not giving away his actually thoughts about how it was easier to just let the current teachers return rather than changing the entire faculty. "Now then, I'll explain how your dorm assignments will work shortly. First however, we haven't forgotten about the provisional hero licenses you were supposed to get during the training camp."
"Oh yeah that's what we were there for." Sato said. "I forgot about that."
"So much has happened it totally slipped my mind." Mina added.
"This is important so listen well." Aizawa said ignoring the babble before getting serious and looking at each of the next 6 students as he said their names. "Kirishima, Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Midoriya, Ida, Dupain-Cheng. You 6 are the ones who broke the rules and went to rescue Bakugo that night despite knowing you weren't supposed to. Three of you should have definitely known better after your internships."
This got a look of shock on the faces of all the others, Adrien playing along with it as well, while a sense of worry and dread fell over the whole class. Of the rest of the class, the only ones who knew that the 6 had actually gone were Adrien and Bakugo.
Furthermore, none of the others in the know, everyone but Jiro and Hagakure, were completely stunned at the last name as they all didn't know that Marinette had been informed of the plan, they thought she was asleep with Agreste and wasn't even aware of the plan let alone apparently part of it. Still, they all remained silent waiting for Aizawa to speak with the exception of a single quiet, scared, 'ribbit' from Tsu.
"Based on your reactions I assume that the rest of you were at least aware of their plans though maybe not all the players in it." Aizawa said deducing what he could from observing his class and the dread worsened for all of them. "I'm going to set aside a number of issues and just say this. If it weren't for All Might's retirement from the hero scene I would expel everyone here except Bakugo, Jiro, Hagakure, and Agreste as they had no knowledge of what was going on. The 6 of you who went of course but also the remaining 12 of you who didn't stop them. You betrayed our trust even if it was to keep your friends from getting into trouble. In order to regain our confidence, you'll need to obey every rule to the letter and live as model students. That's all now look alive, enjoy our new home."
The foreboding and seriousness continued until the very end when Aizawa went back to normal for the last sentence and then turned to head back into the dorm building. It was rather anticlimactic and strange for them, and they all didn't know how to feel from the speech as they stood there thinking on it.
The ones called out all felt bad for putting their classmates in this situation, but all would do it again because in the end it had been the right call and they'd succeeded without engaging in combat. Only Bakugo looked contemplative as he looked to Kirishima who was the most upset before he made a tch sound. He was the reason why they were all like this so he may as well do something about it, as well as repay a debt, and he knew just the sparky moron to use.
"Come here." Bakugo said as he grabbed the Princess's shirt and dragged him off to the main road that was where the dorms were on and behind the hedge. "You're going to be of some use for once."
As soon as they were behind it Bakugo got the Princess to fully discharge his electricity, so he went into super stupid mode, his usual mode was stupid mode to Bakugo, and jumped out like that. Instantly Jiro spat out laughing holding her mouth and side as she always got like that when Kaminari was in idiot mode, the others were a mix of concerned, confused, and amused at it.
"What did Bakugo do to you?" Sero asked smiling at the sight as an unharmed Bakugo walked back to them, right towards Kirishima. "And how'd he do it without getting shocked in the process."
"Kirishima." Bakugo said as he reached him and pulled out 50,000 yen from his pocket. "Here."
"Woah did you shake him down for cash!" Kirishima said stunned at that. "That's not manly at all."
"No." Bakugo said annoyed. "This is my money you idiot, to replace what you spent to other day."
"How'd you know I bought night vision goggles?" Kirishima asked. "We had Yaoyorozu and Dupain-Cheng with us, both can make them."
"I know how Dupain-Cheng's Quirk looks and works." Bakugo said. "She couldn't have made them and that ball, I saw you still had them when I hitched a ride, and you had her charm on you at the same time. As for Ponytail, her stuff is more simplistic."
"Hey." Momo said in defense of her Quirk, but it was hollow as it was accurate, the night goggles Kirishima had on him were a higher spec then what she could make.
"Oh right." Kirishima said remembering that Bakugo was one of the smartest and most observant in the class, so he'd have deduced it easily.
"Don't say I didn't give you anything." Bakugo said as he walked past, slapping the money into Kirishima's chest as he did, and went up the stairs to the dorm. "Now I'm not in your debt. Kaminari, show them your dumb side."
"Oh man what a moron, you're so hopeless." Jiro said still unable to stand it. "Marinette, can you please carry him again. I need another picture of it, I don't have a close up."
"Explosion." Kaminari said in a stupid voice as Marinette obliged with a smile and picked him up princess style as she could tell that this was just what the class needed.
The only ones not laughing, taking pictures, and surrounding Marinette as she held Kaminari like a princess without any straining were Kirishima and Aizawa. The former thanking Bakugo in his head, the later realizing that in this case blowing off steam, or more accurately discharging Kaminari, was the best thing to do apparently. Still, they needed to get inside so he could do the final instructions for them.
"Sorry everyone, I know this won't make up for it but let's all go out tonight and eat one me." Kirishima said returning to the group that cheered at it.
"Alright get moving." Aizawa said and that got the rest of the class to refocus and follow him into the dorm where they saw the interior for the first time. "We don't have all day and you have a lot of work to do."
Inside the entrance area was a green carpeted floor with a set of sofas and a large TV in the corner of that area and another set of sofas in the other corner and a place for their shoes that they all took off and put on the provided indoor slippers. Beyond the green carpet was a wood panel floor with the kitchen area and tables for dining or working on the left side of the interior courtyard showing the full design of the building. They couldn't see what was on the other side though there was likely more recreational stuff there and in the back it looked like where the baths and laundry area was.
"Each student dormitory holds one class, girls are on the right and boys are on the left while the entire first floor is a common area that's where you'll find your kitchen, baths and laundry room." Aizawa said. "Also, each wing is separated with no way to go from one to another on the floor, you have to come down to the first floor and use the other side's elevator or stairs. Also, after a certain time no one of the opposite gender will be allowed in that gender's wing. I am sure that you lot know the two reasons why it is important for your class in particular."
They all knew one of them as they walked into the dorm and began looking around it and exploring, it wasn't hard to know that reason given the little gremlin's reputation for trying to peep on girls, look up their skirts, and basically do anything lustful towards them. The other took a moment but both Adrien and Marinette looked to each other on that and that keyed the others into that reason. They were a class with a confirmed couple in it and this was still a school with rules and responsibilities, so they had to make sure that couples weren't up to anything inappropriate on school property.
"So cool." Hagakure crooned as she looked around.
"There's even a courtyard." Sero noted looking out into the grassy courtyard with bushes, it would be a good place for some activities for sure.
"Yeah looks like a good social place in summer." Marinette said thinking of a few things to do there with the other girls at least, or just Adrien though that would be rude as it was a common space so they shouldn't use it for a date. "Or winter for snowmen or something like that."
"So spacious and new." Mina said hoping around excitedly.
"I'm living in a mansion." Uraraka said as she fell over near the front door causing Ida to yell at her out of concern.
"Does mine ears deceive me." Mineta said sweating and trembling with excitement. "Our baths are located in the common space. Is this heaven?"
"They're separated by gender with special safeguards in place that were made with you in mind, so you'll behave yourself." Aizawa said not looking at Mineta bug giving off an angry aura as he spoke. "You are on extremely thin ice after the stunts you pulled at the training camp, got it Mineta."
"Yes sir." Mineta said going white and understanding what his teacher meant. "I'll be good."
"Living quarters start on the next floor." Aizawa said to get their attention and take them up to the second floor where four boys, including Mineta, were assigned rooms but no girls so that the little creep wouldn't try anything and there were empty rooms to show off on the girls' side which was where they were now. "A few boys and girls on each level other than the second that has no girls while Agreste and Dupain-Cheng are separated by the max amount of floors I can manage for obvious reasons. Everyone gets their own rooms. You should be comfortable. You've got your own AC, toilet, fridge, and closest."
"We have balconies, wow!" Izuku said as he went out to the balcony off the demonstration room that they were in, the still idiot mode Kaminari next to him. "So cool."
"This room is about the same size as my closet at home." Momo said as she looked around completely failing to remember her upper class status though Adrien and Marinette at least kept quiet given how their rooms back in Tokyo were done. "But I'll manage."
"It's the size of my house!" Ochaco said still stunned by all this as she fell to the ground behind Momo and showed the difference in their classes while Ida yelled at her again still concerned for her given her behavior and constant falling over.
"These are your dorm assignments." Aizawa said holding up a sheet so that they could see where their rooms were though each had their name outside the door just in case they didn't see it on the diagram. "The belongings that you sent ahead have already been placed in your rooms so spend the day packing and getting settled. I'll tell you more about your next few lessons tomorrow but for now get to work."
"Yes Mr. Aizawa." They said in unison though he had one more thing to say to one of his students and called her aside as the others went to their rooms.
"Yaoyorozu." Aizawa said as he escorted her downstairs to show a pyramid of a several dozen boxes that were in a back corner of the common area. "Not all of those will fit in your room, especially with that bed you decided to bring. Just select 5 or 6 boxes that you'd like to keep, you only need the bare essentials. Send the rest back home."
"5 or 6?" Momo asked stunned, her background and complete lack of social understanding of it coming through again. "Surely you jest, Mr. Aizawa?"
The look on his face showed that he was indeed not jesting and with a sigh Yaoyorozu went to the boxes and set about the laborious task of deciding what to keep and what to send home. This was going to take a long time for her to sort out as she'd packed all she though was necessary to bring but apparently it was too much despite thinking that it was too little when she'd packed it up with her mother and butler.
As for the others, they had already set about finding their rooms and getting to work. They'd seen the diagram, and all had found where their rooms were, so they headed straight there, via the common area for the boys as the demonstration had been in the girls' wing.
On the second floor, the one with no girls, was Mineta, Midoriya, Aoyama and Tokoyami. The third housed Ojiro, Kaminari, Ida, and Koda in the boys' wing with Marinette, Jiro, and Hagakure in the girls' on the only floor with more than two of them. The fourth had Shoji, Kirishima and Bakugo in the only level with an open room on the boys' side while Ochaco and Mina were on the girls' side. The top level housed the remaining boys of Sero, Todoroki, Agreste and Sato with Yaoyorozu and Asui on the girls' as that way there was a full floor between the couple.
The moment Adrien walked into his room he was glad that Mage had set one last thing up in advance for them to make things easier for them. He'd enchanted a special duffle bag for each of them that was amongst their shipped stuff.
At first feel it felt like it was empty and just shipped for when needed but in reality it was a portal back to their rooms in Tokyo that they could use to summon an item from them or send something back to if they didn't need it, as well as send a request for something through for anything of need if they couldn't reach Mage by text. It was a clever item, though it only worked with inorganic items, and Adrien put it under his bed for when he'd need it as he'd shipped what he'd needed.
With that done, he grinned and turned to his stuff to sort it out and set to work, starting with his clothes that were on hangers if they needed them or folded in one box for the chest of drawers while the male kwamis all came out of the box they'd been in for the shipping and began to 'help' but in reality they were hindering each other and bickering most of the time. Adrien ignored them as he grabbed the hanging clothes, he went to the closet and opened it and jumped back in shock at what was waiting for him inside which got Plagg's attention.
"Huh so that's what he meant by special gift." Plagg said munching on some cheese he'd brought with him. "Interesting. Is that a normal thing for humans to have?"
"Some sure." Adrien said looking at the item. "But I'm not exactly the target audience for those things."
That was because what was inside the closest was, well, a life-sized body pillow of Marinette in her pajamas and sleeping on her side with a note on it. Adrien was still taken aback by it, but Plagg did remind him that Mage had promised that he had a surprise for them, Adrien just wasn't expecting this or for the Guardian to have a sense of humor like this. Reaching out with trepidation, Adrien took the note from the pillow and opened it.
Adrien,
I know that moving into the dorms will be a bit of a change as you and Marinette can no longer share a room and trust me U.A. is being very strict on this we had a full meeting about dealing with class couples which as you can guess was made extremely uncomfortable by Midnight for everyone and I've spent time with Aphrodite. Anyway, you and Marinette will not be able to share a room at night, though as teenagers in love I am sure you will find time for what you used to do, you lot always do. In the meantime, though, here is my gift for you so that you can always have Marinette in bed with you, in a way.
Mage
P.S.
Marinette has one of you as well.
Adrien just blinked at that in utter confusion as he had no idea what to do with it or why Mage had decided that he was going to be funny with this though the winky emojis were a bit much. Then it hit him, Marinette would have one of him as well. Hopefully she wasn't as surprised as he was by it. With that in mind, Adrien closed the closed and set to work making his room his while trying to get the kwamis to actually be of some help.
"Huh, it's better quality than the one I had back in Paris back in the day and is actually him sleeping in his pajamas in a way I can spoon and not just his that special one they made for a certain release." Marinette said completely unfazed by the body pillow that she was looking at and was totally going to be using before reading the not from Mage that was identical to the one he had given Adrien only with her name where his had been and vice versa. "Thoughtful of him to do this for us, I'll send him some macaroons when I next make them for fun as thanks. Between this and the pictures for under my pillow/by my head it will be like Adrien is with me though it won't be the same now that I know the real thing."
"Why does the fact that this doesn't surprise you not surprise me." Tikki said with a sigh as the female kwamis were actually helpfully sorting things out, a white noise generator with a U.A. school uniform print in the middle of the room so that they could talk lest Jiro, who was in one of the corner rooms but thankfully not the one next to Marinette, that was Toru, was practicing with her Quirk. "Then again that body pillow was the worst thing that you had."
"True but now I know what the real thing is nothing will compare even if it will be hard to have some private time with Adrien but finding that time and space will be a fun challenge." Marinette said as she turned to look at her bed and shook her head. "That won't do. I'm going to need some wooden supports, instructions, probably a winch system, strong brackets, and power tools at least. Time to make this room just the way I like it."
With that Marinette changed into something better to unpack and do manual labor in. Once she was ready, she went to the special pink duffle bag to summon what she needed as and set to work, the kwamis doing their part to help as well. It was time to get to work though the sounds of power tools from Marinette's room certainly got some attention from her neighbors while they too worked on their rooms and wondered what on earth the French girl could be doing.
For the rest of the day, the members of Class 1-A set to work transforming their rooms into how they wanted them to be. Some made little difference for various reasons, others completely redid their rooms throughout the day and thanks to chance meetings, and getting stuck helping Hatsume with one of her runaway babies, one was able to get what he needed to really make his room like home.
Yup it was a busy day for the class but as the day came to a close and the boys began to gather in the common area to relax and wait for dinner the girls were hatching a plan for the first dorm bonding exercise, as well as a way to make things feel like normal again after Aizawa's little scare earlier. Little did they know what they'd all learn about their classmates in the hours to come.
A little cliffhanger to leave off on because why not and to tee up what is to come in the next chapter. I know that this one is short with not much in it, hence why I am releasing it early (as well as being ahead of schedule) but with the length of the next one I can't combine them (I even had to end the next chapter early because it was running too long) so this is the one that got to be short. Also, I get the fun to tease the rooms without revealing them just yet but y'all know what is coming so the wait won't be too long. That's all I have for you though, so I'll leave this chapter off here. If you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
