Here it is, the seventy-eighth full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on the set day that I promised each week. This is the second of at least 3 (and maybe up to 5 depending on how long the next draft chapter is) chapters in the post raid recovery arc before we hit an important transition chapter that I need to prepare for by finally watching something I've been putting off for a while and then the next major arc which will be longer with a few School Briefs thrown in and to compensate for the lack of focus on what Izuku gets up to during it as that will likely be left on its own. There is one thing that I'd like to bring up now more because I may forget it later but by doing so now I'll remember for when it is nearer the time but we are coming up on the time skip. It is still a few arcs away, about 25 or so chapters, but as y'all know there is a 4 month time skip from the end of the Endeavor Agency arc and the start of the Paranormal Liberation War arc (my villain academia arc in the anime as that was switched with the Endeavor one). In the MHA canon this is just a time skip for them to train and prepare with only a few glimpses of it in flashbacks. I however intend to use it as a chance to fill that void with a lot of original content really showing Marinette and Adrien at U.A. in the third semester and because I am catching up to the anime so this way I won't have to take a break. I have some plans already, a fair bit of training and other things already teased, but as this is all original I am open to any suggestions y'all may have for content that you'd like to see during that period. I will listen to all that you have but bear in mind 3 things that will affect what I will and won't do. The first is my OC rules, those are still in place and will be followed. The second is that I will not make this period heavily Eri focused, she will appear in some of the original stuff I have planned that is appropriate and works for her character and recovery so if you have suggestions for her I will listen but for the most part she'll still be adjusting and training herself and do keep in mind that any relationships she has with Class 1-A are going to be fraternal in nature. Lastly, I will not be bringing in any overt or direct references to other franchises as they would have been lost during the Quirk Wars and would blow Marinette and Adrien's cover along with the fact that this is an MHA/Miraculous crossover and that is it. MHA does do subtle references (and one or two more blunt ones) with Star Wars, Marvel, and in one instance Thomas the Tank Engine (Vigilantes spinoff), as well as others, and I will be using aspects of Super Powereds once or twice for the American system/inspiration for one planned arc as that book series is an Americanized version of MHA set in college, present time, more cutthroat, and more rigorous qualifications. So do please give suggestions just bear in mind what I will and won't do but of course I will work with all to come to a good story to tell. That is all the more than usual administrative stuff I have for now though and as there are no review questions to answer or guest reviews to respond to I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. Now, though, it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 78th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.

Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.

Chapter 78: After the Raid

Adrien groaned as he slowly came to in the hospital room, a dryness in his mouth and a pounding headache instantly making themselves known as consciousness returned. If he'd not been through this before in the wake of the Summer Camp he'd be annoyed but he'd been here before so he could understand the effects of coming around after being knocked out better. The only difference was this time he felt drained of energy to point that he could barely move and as he blinked his eyes, and the room came into view he noticed that he had an IV in his arm and a weight resting on his side.

Still, Adrien took a moment to get his thoughts in order as he tried to recall what had happened that had led to him ending up here. The last thing he remembered was pushing Cataclysm well beyond what he'd been able to do before as he contained it in that room to ensure that if Chisaki ended up on the ground he couldn't use his Quirk when Eri leapt off that spike and at Midoriya followed by Chisaki. Then Midoriya did something that caused a whirlwind inside the room and vanished, the results of which broke Adrien's concentration and ended Cataclysm.

That had been when his body had finally caught up with what he'd pushed it to do, and he'd passed out cold as he had no energy left in him. Now he was coming to and if he was in a hospital bed then it could mean only one thing, the raid was over though he had no idea what the results of it had been.

As he realized this his vision came back fully and he noticed two more things. The first was that he was no longer in his costume, though his ring was still on which meant that someone who knew how his costume worked had deactivated it, but in a hospital gown and under the bed sheets.

The second was that Marinette sitting in a chair by the side of his head, bent forward and lying on his stomach, her head tilted to the side so that her face was towards his, as she dozed there peacefully. She too wasn't in her costume but her normal school uniform like they'd started the day in only she wasn't wearing her tie or blazer and Adrien could see the bandages wrapping her arms from her wrists and all the way to under her shirt as she slept.

It was clear to Adrien that Marinette had likely stayed conscious until the end of the raid and then helped get him here so that he could be looked at while getting herself sorted as well. He did recall that she'd taken a fair few cuts and scrapes when they'd faced those Vengeful Spirits, so he was glad to see that she'd been patched up as well.

Likely she'd held on until she was sorted and then joined him as he recovered more naturally, all he'd done was use up all his energy and just needed time, protein, and fluids to replenish and rested on him like this. She was so cute when she did it though he wondered why she wasn't in bed with him.

He'd deal with that later though, he had to let her know that he was ok and find out what had happened to the others as he was burning with questions that his mind was seeking answers for now that it was active again. Did they win? Were all the heroes and police ok? Was Eri safe and sound? How was Nighteye? Mage? The others who'd been with them when they entered the underground compound, what happened to them? Adrien wanted answers to the but all he could muster to try and get some answers was a groaning sound as his throat was too dry to speak.

"Oh, you're awake Adrien." A familiar voice said to his side and Adrien turned his head to see Momo sitting there on the bed next to him in the small ward they were all in. "Good, I'll go let Sanguina know so that she can come give you a quick checkup."

Adrien was confused by that, why was the Guardian of Blood of all people here, and by what Momo was doing when he woke up. She looked fine with no noticeable bandages or anything. She was also back in her school uniform, minus her blazer, and propped up in the bed with the back raised and the table for food up and over her lap only she wasn't eating but doing copious amounts of paperwork of all things. However, now that she noticed he was up she moved it away and hopped out of the bed.

"Water." Adrien groaned out as Marinette finally began to stir with Adrien's sudden movements, well sudden to her as he was no longer unconscious. "Is there any?"

"Huh, oh right." Momo said going over to a side table on the other side of the room and grabbing a bottle of water and a small paper cup and bringing them over to him as Marinette sat up and blinked the sleep from her eyes. "Sanguina said that you'd be thirsty and might need a pain killer as your body still needs to adjust to the lack of energy. Here, she left this water and some pills she said are patented by another Guardian who's going to help out with Mage's surgery apparently. She swears they'll get rid of pain right away and that you should take them with the water. I'll go get her now."

"Thanks." Adrien said as he sat up slowly so as to not disturb the tubes, and because that was as fast as he could move, before he took the water and the cup from Momo. "This will help I'm sure of it."

"Marinette, can you sort out his bed so that Adrien is propped up." Momo said as she left, and Marinette finally registered what was going on, very happy to see Adrien ok. "Sanguina will want to come and debrief us all now that Adrien is back with us."

"Right, will do." Marinette said still slightly groggy, the healing she'd had on her injuries had aided to her need for sleep, but she was back now and quickly helped Adrien by turning his bed into a recliner as Momo left the room and Adrien opened the water in one hand, popped the two pills from the cup in his mouth, and swallow them along with half the water as she worked. "There you go kitty, lean back and relax. You're still going to be weak for a while, but we'll get a lot of food into you as soon as possible. They've been using direct protein paste mixed with the IV solution for the moment, but proper food will restore more Sanguina says as that is what the body needs."

"Yeah I don't think I can get up just yet." Adrien said with a sigh of relief as the pain in his head vanished and he leaned back with his eyes closed but not to sleep just to relax as he could feel his whole body, he just couldn't move it well at the moment. "So, what happened and why is Sanguina here? Also did you deactivate my costume?"

"A lot but we should wait for her for the update." Marinette said taking his hand in hers. "She is the Guardian here. As for your costume, I told them how to get your body to do it and they did but I was also in and out of consciousness from blood loss."

"Ok." Adrien said as he raised the bottle to his lips and drained the rest of it in a few gulps before he let the empty bottle drop to his lap. "At least that you are ok bugaboo."

"I'm fine, just a little sore from the wounds but they're all healed." Marinette said with a smile. "I lost a fair bit of blood but nothing life threatening and Sanguina helped restore it quickly as well as clotting the wounds. I've since been healed and had stitches in my back from the one stab wound so I'll have a scar there, but I'll be fine. I'm sure Sanguina will give me an update in a moment."

"Good, I hate seeing you in pain m'lady." Adrien said smiling at her as he turned to look at his love. "And the raid? Did we win?"

"I know and same for me and you in pain but this time I knew you'd done it for a good reason and would be fine once you recovered." Marinette said giving his hand a squeeze. "As for the raid, yes, we won. Chisaki and all the yakuza are in custody and either on their way to jail or a villain hospital. We also have the Quirk destroying drug for study, and most importantly Eri is safe and here in the hospital, but we don't know her condition."

"Eri currently has a fever and is being monitored while she sleeps fitfully but otherwise she's fine." A female voice said in American accented French causing the teens to look to the door. "However, with her Quirk and what it is currently believed to be able to do, along with it being a rare Quirk that only works on organic matter, she will be remaining in the hospital and under Eraser Head's watchful eye for the immediate future. Once we know more about it Eri's future will be determined. The current plan is that she be placed under the custody of U.A. as that is the best place for her right now but only once we understand her Quirk more."

Standing just inside the room as the door closed behind them was Momo and a woman Adrien recognized immediately despite her slight change of outfit, something he'd actually never seen in a Guardian before. He'd met Sanguina once before back when she'd come to Hosu to help him at Mage's request and study Stain's Quirk. Back then she'd been in her full Guardian uniform. Now she was clearly in hospital attire.

Her outfit was still blood red, which was obviously the color she'd chosen, but now she was in a full set of loose medical scrubs, red sneakers and a red lab coat that fell to her just above her ankles and had all her accessories inside it. She did have a stethoscope around her neck and her hair was pulled back in a simple ponytail, but Adrien didn't see her weapon. He did notice a caduceus pin on the lapel of her coat and presumed that that had to be it under some hiding tech or magic, one could never tell with a Guardian.

The Guardian of Blood wasn't looking at him but at a clipboard as she walked into the room with Momo behind her and stood at the end of Adrien's bed, Marinette remained in the chair next to him, as she continued to study the board. Even with her head down though Adrien could tell that she'd wiped the blood or hopefully makeup that she usually had on her face off leaving her cheeks bare, but her eyes were still full red as she looked up and met his gaze.

"All of that is of course for safety reasons due to the nature of Eri's Quirk based of Izuku Midoriya's report on what happened to him when it was active while the best place for her to learn to control it is U.A." Sanguina continued sticking to French as she spoke. "Plus, the only known family she has is the former boss of the yakuza who's currently in a coma that we believe Chisaki put him in and which we can't seem to reverse. He's her grandfather by the way, her father is believed to be missing and is presumed dead, while her mother abandoned once her Quirk manifested."

"Wait?" Marinette asked instinctively defaulting to her native tongue. "Chisaki's not her father?"

"Huh, right, you three need a proper debrief and all." Sanguina said as she put the chart down at the foot of the bed and came around the other side and pulled out a small flashlight of sorts out of the pocket of her coat. "I'll give you three it in a moment including the run down we have on what Eri's Quirk actually is. First I need to make sure that Adrien is fine now that he's awake. He should be just drained but I have to make sure that there are no lingering effects that would require specialist care."

"Um…" Adrien said as the Guardian began to look into his eyes with the device and then run the basic physical tests a doctor would run on a patient after that patient regained consciousness.

"Relax, I am legitimately a doctor and certified in several countries including Japan." Sanguina said. "If you're curious as to my heritage, I'm the daughter of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and some mortal woman who was one of his finest pupils. I always had an affinity for healing and quickly showed a particular skill when it came to blood and surgery. All that is why I was recruited to be a healer for the Guardians though I was also trained to fight and worked my way up through the organization so that when the codification of the Sub-Guardians was done I was one of the 8 Captains. From there it was standard ascension through to Guardianship upon which Dominus granted me Blood as my element."

"Ah I see." Adrien said also using French as apparently they were going to be speaking it at the moment and understanding what Sanguina was telling him given all he'd learned about the Guardians since being sent to the future. "So, your cover is as a doctor and hero like Recovery Girl."

"Correct though I've always gotten a medical license over the generations." Sanguina said as she finished up her work. "Every 50 to 100 years or so ever since licensing doctors became a thing, though for a long time I did have to pretend to be a male as women weren't allowed to be doctors at first, that was always a fun time that I don't miss at all. It helps my cover and allows me to honor my father and what he stood for back in the day as he too would help people with his skills. Alright you're all done."

"Will I be ok?" Adrien asked.

"Yup you just need some proper food in you as that is better than this specialty IV I had them rig up for you, so I'll arrange for a full, protein rich meal to be sent here for all of you once I'm done." Sanguina said with a nod. "Eat all of what is provided to you Adrien and you'll be good. Other than a lack of energy you are fine though I would take it easy for a day or two and I doubt you'll be able to use Cataclysm for about 48 hours as your body still needs to recover before it can sustain it. Once Momo is done with the paperwork I've provided I'll come back for a final check before discharging you, but Marinette is to see Recovery Girl tomorrow for another session just to ensure she's good."

"Right will do." Adrien said as the others nodded at their own tasks and he reached in to feel for Cataclysm, it was still there of course as it was part of him, but he couldn't call on it just yet as his body needed time to regain the strength to handle his power. "And the others? How are they?"

"Yeah we'd like to know." Marinette said. "Will, will Nighteye and Mage be ok?"

"Mage will be fine; he is immortal like me." Sanguina said and as she was speaking French there was no worries and for the moment she was going to avoid talking about Nighteye as it was best to save his prognosis for last. "And before you ask I've already borrowed power from Sonic, the Guardian of Sound, so we can speak freely in here."

"Oh good." Momo said in French. "And, um, I assume you are aware that I'm fully read in on you lot. I know you've been rather blunt already, but I just want to make sure."

"Mage submitted his report to us after it was clear you'd learned the truth about these two and were thus informed of his true nature." Sanguina said with a nod. "An oversight on his part for sure, I was never part of this whole plan as I'm mainly in America and the mistake that sent Adrien and Marinette here was his alone, but I knew of it, we all did, and as such we were informed when you were read in on their origins. This does work well as I do not need to skirt issues or go over them and your understanding of French ensures we can use that language to speak."

"Good." Momo said, she'd been pretty certain Sanguina knew but she'd had to confirm it just in case. "Please go on. Will Mage be back with us soon?"

"In a few days, his injuries were bad by human standards so we will be keeping him here in a medically induced coma, well that's what the cover will be, until he's good enough to be discharged." Sanguina said. "I am not the only licensed doctor in the Guardians, our most recent member from back in the 1700s is one as well and her element is Pain so she's very good for mitigating that. She's already in Japan helping right now and later tonight, once you lot are gone and, well, the rest has happened, we'll be performing Mage's surgery to ensure that he's fully healed by human standards. He won't have to fake his own death though he'll be out of action and will have to fake recovery for at least 3 months."

"That is understandable." Marinette said. "It was a serious injury that he suffered but one that might have been survivable if he was human, I think."

"It was and the official story is that he is one lucky son of a bitch to still be alive." Sanguina said. "The blade would have badly damaged his intestines if he was mortal but that is it and you can live without portions of those so the cover is that he's going to have a large amount removed and will be on a medical leave until I deem him fit for duty. In the mean time I will run the agency in his stead while he recuperates at U.A. and continues to sort things out there that are already in motion."

"Oh, so you'll be in charge of our work study then." Adrien said.

"I would be but until further notice they are suspended for first years after this incident and the general rise in crime in Japan in the wake of All Might's retirement." Sanguina said with a sigh. "The HPSC has decided to do suspend the program for the moment while they reassess things and sort some stuff out. That and what just happened has them worried so for now you will be back at school full time where you will be expected to increase your training."

"Wait, what just happened?" Marinette asked.

"There was one final attack that no one saw coming that occurred about an hour or so ago." Sanguina said with a sigh. "It turns out that the League of Villains had made some sort of partnership with the Hassaikai despite their first meeting ending in the deaths of the villain Magna and one of the Hassaikai thugs, DNA has confirmed that it was their blood or remains present from the warehouse fight and amounts indicate fatal wounds."

"So, they were in cahoots." Adrien said not particularly effected by villains killing each other and more worried about the partnership between the groups. "That's not good."

"It looked that way but as with these things it was a flimsy partnership at best." Sanguina said. "Himiko Toga and Jin Bubaigawara were confirmed to have been present in the raid, the former even stabbed Rock Lock in the side and Eraser Head in the back of the shoulder though the blade missed any vital organs for the former and he's expected to make a full recovery. I'm going to be consulting with the police regarding Toga as it is now known that her Quirk requires blood which is my area of expertise. However, despite their presence, it seems that they were under orders, or at least decided on their own but for the sake of Shigaraki, to betray the Hassaikai at the first moment that they could."

"That does sound like them." Marinette said, she remembered Himiko Toga well from their little tussle in the woods when the League attacked them there. "They are only loyal to Shigaraki as far as we know."

"That certainly appears to be the case and it was thanks to them that we caught Irinaka." Sanguina said. "They manipulated him and the heroes into allowing Midoriya the moment to reveal part of his body and Eraser Head then erased his Quirk. From there, and with Nighteye's aid, they caught Irinaka but Toga and Twice got away and in the process alerted their boss to what was going on so that he could act as Chisaki was being transported."

"Act?" Momo asked suddenly worried by what that might mean. "Like to free Chisaki? Is he free?"

"No, they fully betrayed him and once again used the heroes for their own cause." Sanguina said shaking her head. "Due to his injuries, Chisaki was being transported to Tocadana Villain Hospital, along with 10 of his subordinates and two boxes that were to be studied by the crime lab. One of the boxes contained 4 red bullets that we believe is the completed drug while the other contained 5 blue bullets of unknown properties. During the transport of Chisaki who was being taken via the fastest route to minimize travel time, a truck on the highway pulled in front of them with Shigaraki on top of it and the villains Dabi and Mr. Compress in the back. We do not know which member was driving it however."

"Oh." Marinette said. "But surely there was a police escort. One truck is not enough."

"There was a cruiser escort complete with a hero present, one of the best to face them as it was the Sand Hero: Snatch who's Quirk is unaffected by either Dabi's or Shigaraki's." Sanguina said. "But Mr. Compress's was the key to the villains success as he was able to use his Quirk to get rid of the cruiser assigned to protect the truck and then trap Snatch inside his compressed ball thing along with some of Dabi's flames."

The three students just stared at that their eyes wide and mouths agape. Only Marinette had actually been in Dabi's presence before and the heat from his blue flames had burned her ankles when he blasted them at her, but they all knew what blue flames meant in terms of heat.

"Yup, Snatch could only turn the top halve of his body to sand." Sanguina said sadly. "He was confirmed killed in the line of duty by the officers who reached the scene after the fact, the only fatality of the attack but a tragedy nonetheless."

"So, what happened to Chisaki?" Adrien asked, he didn't know Snatch, but it was still sad to hear that he was dead, a hero's death was never easy. "Was he killed as well? I certainly wouldn't put it past Shigaraki to kill him when he had him helpless like that."

"They didn't kill him; they were a little more brutal with Chisaki as they rendered Quirkless and took the bullets as well for good measure." Sanguina said. "It's safe to say that his mind is fully snapped at this point."

"Wait Quirkless?" Marinette asked. "They used one of his own bullets on him?"

"No what they did to Chisaki was much more medieval." Sanguina said. "You see there is a crude way to render a human Quirkless and that is to remove his or her Quirk factor so that the Quirk is useless. You three are lucky in that your Quirk factors are either your whole bodies as is the case for Momo and Adrien, or your mind as is the case for Marinette but not everyone is so fortunate. True most Quirks aren't that limited but some, especially some notably powerful ones, are. Eraser Head's Quirk factor for example is in his eyes, Uravity in her fingertips and requires all 5 to make contact to work, same for Shigaraki, and in Chisaki's case it is his hands. He cannot use Overhaul anywhere else."

"Wait so that means…" Momo began her eyes wide at what Sanguina was saying.

"They removed his arms, yes." Sanguina said. "His left was completely removed between the shoulder and elbow leaving his forearm and hand still present and in the restraint. While it can't be confirmed, it was liked compressed and then taken away. This is based off who was confirmed present for the attack and the report from Ryukyu that Mr. Compress's clone not having a left arm and a prosthetic being seen in use later during the attack. This would imply that he lost his arm to Chisaki during that first confrontation."

"That would explain why a villain like that would take Chisaki's arm." Marinette said recalling her own brief meeting with the eccentric villain. "He did strike me as the kind of man who'd go all eye for an eye if he was ever wronged. Something about the showman nature would really play to that."

"We know little more than Compress's real name but the reports on his behavior are in line with that assessment." Sanguina said with a nod. "As for Chisaki's right arm, that was severed with a knife near the shoulder, and nothing was left of the lower arm indicating that Shigaraki used Decay on it and then amputated the arm to avoid killing Chisaki."

"Damn." Momo muttered. "Even for a villain that doesn't sound pleasant to go through."

"As I said, it was a crude removal of a Quirk factor." Sanguina said. "And the latest reports from those who found Chisaki screaming in the highway still strapped to the stretcher indicate that his mind is gone and he's likely unfit for trial at the moment. He's currently being treated at Tocadana Villain Hospital and will be transferred to Tartarus Prison once he's healed given his power and high-profile status even if he can no longer activate his Quirk, but he won't stand trial until he's competent. Given what he did he's looking at the death penalty."

"That's just wrong." Adrien said as he processed what Sanguina was saying. "What the League did to him I mean."

"It is but that is what villains do to each other at times, I've seen a lot worse in my time unfortunately." Sanguina said. "So, yeah, that is the current situation. A hero has died, Chisaki was maimed, and the League escaped with his Quirk destroying bullets though without Eri or whatever Chisaki did to perfect them they can't replicate the bullets."

"Still the fact that he has them isn't good." Marinette said. "And Ulcisci escaped, he might make contact with them now that they have the bullets."

"That we actually doubt as it was the process that we believe they were interested in helping which they can't do now." Sanguina said. "We don't know where he went, you had no way of tracking him, but we are searching. This is the first time he's shown his face in over a century, same with Scimitar but we actually caught him, and he's currently being processed in our prison so he's never getting out again despite his claims to the contrary. Ulcisci though will find some hole to hide in and regroup with his mistress once his wounds have healed and they will fully heal if the past is any indication. They were here for that drug and now that Eri is safe and Chisaki in custody they won't bother."

"Are you sure?" Adrien asked. "They know me and Marinette now."

"And? To them you two are nothing more than insignificant mortals, no threat to them in the long run especially because you're just students." Sanguina said. "They'll know that you two aren't Sub-Guardians and even if you were, the Sub-Guardians are of no concern to them other than to slaughter when battles occur. Vindicta cares only about taking down Dominus and causing chaos, even wounding Ulcisci the way Marinette did won't be an issue as he can heal from it. She'll likely just leave Japan; she's never really cared for the far east and only crops up when there's something she'll see of use. Of course, Mage's plan for a covert unit is still in place and they'll be on high alert so you will be safe."

"Ok but if anything happens…" Marinette began.

"We'll inform you if it pertains to you, if not leave that war to us." Sanguina said seriously. "You two have been through more than normal mortals should ever be expected to experience even with the involvement of the Miraculouses. Now that all that is behind you, and you have a new purpose it is best that you live your own lives for now. The fact that you two managed to win and disarm Ulcisci is impressive though, Lucky Charm is a lot stronger than I realized. Be proud of that but leave the rest to us. This is our war, not yours."

"She's right m'lady." Adrien said squeezing Marinette's hand in his though his grip was still weak as he regained his strength. "We should focus on just being students and working to be heroes in our new lives."

"I know, it's just hard because we are heroes." Marinette said. "But I get it, we have these new lives, and we should live them for us and those we were forced to leave behind."

"Good now for the rest of the news." Sanguina said moving on. "With the others it was mostly good. Kirishima has several bruises and lacerations from his fight with a villain called Rampa, I've helped but he's got more bandages than Marinette. Still, he will be fine in a few days. Suneater, Amajiki I think his name was, has a cracked bone on his face and some minor injuries elsewhere but will be fine and Fat Gum has a few broken bones as Rampa was strong enough to overwhelm even his absorption to some degree. Lemillion has a few more serious injuries, though the spikes missed anything vital, and will be here longer. That said, he has lost his Quirk."

"Wait what?" Momo asked shocked at the news, she'd not been informed yet on the status of the upperclassman and top student at U.A. "Togata is Quirkless now?"

"It seems that way." Sanguina said. "He used his body to protect Eri and was shot with a perfected Quirk destroying bullet by one of the Hassaikai members as that was the only way to defeat him, hence why there were only 4 bullets recovered. It appears that Lemillion's training and Quirk were more than a match for Chisaki, so he resorted to using one of his few perfected bullets to defeat him. We don't know if it is fully permanent though but he's going to take a leave of absence from U.A. while he is evaluated and will help with Eri when she's ready to see people again."

"I guess that makes sense." Marinette said surprised by the news and sad that Togata had lost his Quirk. "And Eri, what can you tell us about her? You've mentioned a bit, but I think now is the time we get a full update on her."

"Lemillion will get counseling just in case." Sanguina said. "As for Eri, her Quirk has been officially named Rewind and it gives her the power to rewind a person to a previous point in their existence. It's a powerful Quirk with amazing healing potential, in fact it is what allowed Izuku Midoriya to defeat Chisaki as Eri's Quirk was constantly active during the final fight thus rewinding his body as fast as he broke it by going over his limit. Only that pairing could have pulled it off and Midoriya has already been discharged as he has no injuries from the raid."

"Well, that is different for him, but it does explain why he looked so strong at the end." Marinette said recalling how Midoriya was glowing with power when she saw him after he beat Chisaki. "It was certainly impressive seeing the full potential he has once his body catches up. Eri's Quirk really is something else it seems."

"It is but there are some issues with it that will require specialty assistance." Sanguina said. "Rewind, which is not related to anything on either side of Eri's known family making it a random Quirk mutation that occurs from time to time, only works on people at the moment and is likely limited to organic material by its very nature. Coupled with her lack of control…"

"And she has to stay here." Momo said getting it now as she finished what Sanguina was about to say.

"Correct but she's not the first to have such a hard to control and dangerous Quirk." Sanguina said. "She'll get it and counseling for all the trauma she's been through, but the road ahead is clear for her now thanks to all the heroes like yourselves who saved her today. When the time is right Midoriya and Togata will be allowed to visit her as they are the ones who she'll be wanting to see the most when she's ready and from there who knows. Give her space though, she needs it now more than anything."

"Of course." Adrien said looking to Marinette. "We know more than anything the need for that after a traumatic experience that upends your life as you know it."

"I know, it is why I am hoping that you two can help out with her if she's moved to U.A., which given the staff there, Eraser Head's Quirk, and the level of teaching proficiency is the best place for her." Sanguina said. "I've read both of your files; I know that Marinette has babysitting experience with girls of a similar age as Eri and with your own successes at getting over trauma you can be there in some way or at least help Midoriya and Togata as they work with her. They will be the main two given their prior interactions and how they helped her so much during the rescue."

"That is more than understandable, they were the ones who gave her hope that the heroes would come and who allowed her to embrace it." Marinette said. "I'll speak with Midoriya when he and Eri are ready. He's going to have to be her big brother when the time comes for her to leave the hospital, same with Togata, and they'll need advice on how to manage that."

"Good though of course your own pasts will be kept a secret even if you are drawing on them to help out." Sanguina said. "But, present company excluded, you two are proof that you can survive and thrive after trauma."

"We have our covers; we won't break them even as we help and it's not like I don't know tragedy from before the incident either." Adrien said darkly but he didn't elaborate on it as Marinette already knew well even if Momo didn't yet. "Momo found the thread and pulled but now it won't be an issue."

"It was unintentional and only I could have found it given the families involved." Momo said. "So don't worry and I'll protect you two, I owe you that much and more for the trust you're showing me with all this."

"Thank you." Marinette said with a smile at her friend. "That just leaves the one thing you're leaving out Sanguina. Nighteye. How bad is it?"

"That's because I'm leaving the worst for last, and you are not to tell Eri under any circumstances if you meet her because we don't want her to learn the truth until she's ready for it as her recovery comes first." Sanguina said a note of sadness in her voice at the news she had to break. "But, well, the truth is that Nighteye won't make it through the night. His injuries were too severe, there was nothing anyone could do, and the fact that he's hung on this long is a miracle, but he'll pass on soon."

That hit the trio hard. Sure, they didn't really know Nighteye and had only worked with him this once, but he was still a hero and a hero's death was always hard. It really showed them the truth of what they would be facing in the world they were entering as death could come for them at any time, but it was a price all were willing to pay to protect innocents.

"Is, is he able to make the peace he needs with those he needs to see and vice versa." Adrien said. "I, well…"

"I know, you and Marinette never had that chance, and as an immortal I do know how hard that can be, so I do empathize with you." Sanguina said. "But yes, Nighteye is currently with All Might, Togata, Midoriya, Recovery Girl, and his sidekicks at the moment. He will be able to make his peace with them all and they with him before he dies."

"That's good." Marinette said softly. "This will hit us all hard, but Adrien and I know it better than most, we'll help our classmates from the mission out."

"That we will." Adrien said with a nod. "Those in the raid, we'll do our best to look after them."

"Thank you." Sanguina said. "Be careful but this is where you're experience, and past will be needed the most. I've read Mage's reports on your progress, I know how well integrated and respected both of you have become so I know that you can do this."

"Marinette, you know how the other girls feel about you, how we all respect, admire and look up to you as our leader." Momo said, she was struggling the most with this as she'd never had someone die who she'd known and respected but hopefully this experience would help her should it happen again in the future. "It's not just me, Tsu and Ochaco will need you as well once they find out what's happened to Nighteye."

"And I'll be there, I know how hard it will hit them because I know that it was Ochaco who carried him to safety in her arms so of all of us she's going to be the most affected when he dies." Marinette said looking at her friend. "Tonight, your room because your bed is best, we'll have a girls night just the four of us with plenty of snacks and I'll do what I can for all of you."

"Thank you Marinette." Momo said with a weak smile. "Now more than ever do we need your strength, but I know you best of them all, I know all you've been through so I know you can help us. If you can survive what I cannot image then this is something we can survive even if Tsu and Ochaco won't know the truth like I do."

"And I'll take Midoriya and Kirishima." Adrien said. "We can spend it in my room as it is a good place though we'll have to be quiet for Shoto and Sato's sake. They may not want to, but they'll need it and we have covers to explain how we can deal with this."

"Good, this is sooner than I think Mage would have liked but life, well you two know it better than most, is never as you'd want it." Sanguina said glad to hear that the French pair would again lend their aid, seriously that old man Fu had chosen exceptionally well with these two. "I'll have suits prepared for Adrien and Marinette, all three of you along with BB, who's fine and still helping with the clean up as there were a lot of hidden rooms she was needed to break into, will be at the funeral in a few days given your involvement in the raid. If Mage can make it he'll be there but if not I'll represent us. Nighteye knew our truth, his power was such that he had to be informed, it is the least we could do for him."

"It's the right thing to do." Marinette said as the others nodded.

"It is." Sanguina said. "And as that is all I have I will be heading out; I still have rounds to make. Momo, finish the paperwork and take it to the local police station once its done. They'll want to get statements from Adrien and Marinette but that can wait, or they can send someone here for it but they're not in any state to do so down at the station. I'll sort out food and will be back in a few hours to make sure you're ok and discharge Adrien and Marinette if so."

The three nodded as Sanguina turned and left the room without another word. Momo quickly got back on the other bed to resume the paperwork while Adrien and Marinette chatted about her injuries, their plans for their recovery, and the rest of the mission before the food arrived. There was a lot more to do to fully recover but they all knew that in the end they'd be ok and that this would only make them stronger as they would soon have one more memory to fight for as they became heroes.

There was still the return to the school and what was to come tonight but for now their first true mission as heroes was at an end. It was time for the recovery to truly begin.

I think I'll leave this chapter off here, a little shorter than I'd planned but this part went on long enough for a chapter on it's own and it makes more sense to have the return to school and what I've planned for the night time talks in one place. I'll be drafting that chapter next and drafting all of it before I decide if it needs to be broken up (like with Kamino) and if so y'all may get another mid-week surprise but not until mid-May as this was all prepared ahead of a trip I'm taking during which I won't have the time or quality computer to write at my usual rate. Anyway, that is all I really have, there isn't much more to say here and as Adrien and Marinette didn't really know Nighteye I'm leaving his end as it was in the canon with those he makes peace with and his final vision of a bright future for Mirio. That means that it is time to leave this chapter off. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
