Chapter 93: Hero Class Rumble

It was a week or so after the incident in Kyushu and the year had turned over to December which meant two things; it was winter costume time for those who opted or needed to wear them, and it was time for the first years in U.A.'s Hero Course to have their Joint Training exercise. They'd only been told about this the day before and were eager for it as it was finally time for the classes to face off in battle.

There was one question that most of Class 1-A had as they got changed and headed out to the special area of Field Gamma where they were to meet up with Class 1-B and get the instructions for what would happen during today's exercise: what of the numbers disparity. It was well known that Class 1-A had two more members than Class 1-B due to Marinette and Adrien joining as special transfer students via some international exchange program that U.A. had with several other schools so how would that work for this. They'd soon find out, so they best just get ready and head out, which they did in stages.

Not all were preoccupied by this or the upcoming training session. Izuku had other things on his mind due to a strange dream he had the night prior where he saw the vestiges of One for All again only this time they were more than vague, faceless, ghosts, he could actually make most of them out though All Might's wasn't clear and two were obscured for some reason.

All that was strange but what was strangest was that he saw the memories of his Quirk's creation when All for One gave the stockpiling Quirk to his younger brother who clearly didn't agree with All for One's actions and didn't want a power to begin with. Regardless, All for One forced it on him to be 'kind' by giving the original wielder a useless Quirk but that backfired on All for One as it mixed with the man's hitherto unknown Quirk, a Quirk that allowed him to pass on his Quirk to another, to create One for All.

Izuku also saw memories of the first wielder and his relationship with his brother, his views on how All for One was just selfish and using his power for his own personal gains and to recruit lackies. The one thing that stood out was that all this occurred in a time when Quirks were known as Meta Powers or Meta Abilities meaning that it was at least a century old thus proving that All for One had, at some point in time, picket up a life extending Quirk to remain alive for so long.

Regardless it was a strange dream that ended with the original talking to Izuku telling him that he was only using 20% which wasn't enough for what was coming as he was reaching out his hand to Izuku, who reached out in return with only his hand and the upper part of his face visible to him at the time. Alas Izuku didn't learn more because as soon as their hands touched Izuku woke up to the sound of his window breaking and right has hand and forearm glowing.

After a dream like that he couldn't sleep and went running to calm his nerves and clear his head, after reassuring Aoyama that he was ok because he'd woke Aoyama with what happened and resolved to speak to All Might about it. That's what he'd done this morning and they talked about the vestiges of One for All and what they could mean, and All Might promised to look into it with him so in time they'd learn more.

For now, however, Izuku had to focus on the exercise as Aizawa reminded him when he and All Might ran into the man on the way out of the faculty room and All Might tried to deny giving Izuku any special treatment and only made himself more suspicious in the process. Why Shinso was with Aizawa at the time was beyond Izuku though he was friendly to the General Studies student.

Now it was time for the Joint Training exercise, and they were all ready as they met up at the meeting point. Some like Momo and Tsu, had winter additions or alterations to their costumes but most didn't though still they were all eager for what was to come.

For Adrien and Marinette, neither of whom needed any changes to their costumes as they kept them perfectly warm as is, they were just excited for more training and class bonding as they chatted with their friends and walked through Field Gamma to the meeting point. Finally, it was time to see how they faired against Class 1-B and understand the other Hero Class's Quirks on a deeper level and none of them could wait for that.

"I can't believe we're already back at it so soon!" Toru squealed clearly really excited for what was to come as they reached the waiting point her winter costume consisting of slightly larger boots and that's it. "Aren't you pumped for today's exercise guys?"

"Um, Hagakure, don't you get cold like that?" Jiro asked pointing out the obvious as it was pretty cold out and Toru was wearing only boots and gloves, her invisibility the sole reason why she wasn't violating the exposed skin in costume rule that Midnight had caused the creation of back when she debuted. "You aren't wearing anything. At least most of us have different materials for winter."

"Ribbit." Tsu said, her costume looked the same but had a better temperature regulator to keep her warm so as to ensure she didn't go into hibernation when her blood got too cold. "Kyoka's right Toru, that can't be pleasant."

"Ha-ha yeah I'm freezing." Toru said she was pumping her arms and moving her legs clearly in an effort to warm up. "My nipples are so hard right now I feel like they can cut diamonds."

"You got guts but that was TMI girl." Jiro said with a shake of her head.

"No, it wasn't en…" Mineta began before leaping out of Marinette's way as she walked over the moment she heard him begin to say something inappropriate and hide behind Shoji, who stepped to the side to avoid being a shield, and content himself with just enjoying the image that Hagakure had given him.

"Ignore the pervert, clock my winter outfit." Mina said sliding in to reveal she'd added short sleeves with purple Ps as a nod to her hero name on the shoulders to her usual vest. "It's like super cute guys."

"It's lovely Mina." Momo said with a smile, her own outfit addition being a blood red, high collared, cloak fastened with a silver cord around her neck that was super warm thus avoiding any issues while also ensuring that she still had all her exposed skin to work with. "Really suits you."

"I didn't realize how much the temperature had dropped." Ojiro said, his own additions being a thicker lining and under clothes to his usual martial arts style outfit. "I'm just glad that we'll be warm as soon as the exercise starts."

"Well almost everyone's costume has changed since we started school." Ida said though his was one of the few that hadn't changed at all or at least no one could see any changes to his costume. "It's amazing to see how much we've all adapted since then both physically with our Quirks and how we employ them in relation to our costumes."

"You haven't changed anything Ida." Sato pointed out. "Though I'm surprised you survived the summer in all that gear, it already looks like a winter costume. You must have been sweltering in it at the start of the year."

"Oh, Kacchan's is different too." Izuku said as Bakugo, flanked by Kirishima and Kaminari, began approaching them his costume now a full long-sleeved top with a high collar to it completely covering his torso.

"Huh?" Bakugo said not liking Deku's tone and he'd noticed the other boy was off recently, so he wasn't thrilled by that and let out his anger again. "If you've got something to say then say it to my face Deku. While I'm blasting yours!"

"How does it work?" Izuku asked bluntly intrigued by Kacchan's new costume and not at all put off by his outburst. "Do the gauntlets come equipped with a heat generator? That would be the most logical thing as your sweat glands on your palms are your weapons so it's a really smart modification to combat the cold, I'm impressed. Cold and rain have always been your biggest weaknesses, so this helps negate it."

"Stop praising my suit you damned nerd!" Bakugo roared. "And don't mention my nonexistent weaknesses if you want to remain breathing."

"Yours may have change the most out of everyone's here, Midoriya." Ojiro pointed out as he looked over all the additions that Midoriya had added since they first wore their costumes several months ago. "Other than the base design and that it's green, albeit a darker green, it's almost unrecognizable from the one you used in the battle trial at the start of the year. Just how much new stuff do you have on it?"

"I had to upgrade because I learned some new moves, so I needed new items to focus and channel them while also being sturdy enough to withstand my power." Izuku said eager to explain the upgrades Hatsume, who'd become his de facto personal support gear maker though Melissa Shield had offered to help out when she could the last time she visited U.A. "The gloves are definitely going to come in hand. Actually, these are the second versions of them, Hatsume was able to make adjustments to the original design after the School Festival that made them even stronger as she finally had the time to properly work on them."

"I don't doubt that she's incredibly talented." Ojiro said.

Marinette however noticed Midoriya's unintended blunder right away and quickly moved to be near Ochaco to try and help her out as her feelings began to break through her hold on them. Of all the girls out there, the only one who could truly trigger Ochaco's jealousy was Hatsume due to their interactions in the past, all of which had involved Midoriya.

Admittedly, said actions had helped Ochaco come to terms with her love for Deku, as well as Marinette helping her accept it herself when they had a chat about it, but still, that didn't mean that she had to like the mention of Hatsume. When said mentioning was in relation to Deku, well, Ochaco's deep feelings for Midoriya came back to her in a flood.

She'd naturally been keyed in on Deku's conversation with Bakugo and then Ojiro, she was always keyed in on Deku and not just because of her locked away feelings, when he mentioned Hatsume, and the most recent memories flooded back to her. She saw the explosion, Hatsume on top of Deku, her surprisingly large chest pressed against his in such a way that he got a spectacular view of her cleavage while she refused to get off him right away, the closeness she was with him, the way she felt out his muscles, etc. All that came back to Ochaco, so she had to get them out of her head and acted before Marinette reached her.

"Bad thoughts get out of my head." Ochaco said as she tried to punch herself in the face and hit her helmet visor instead. "Stop thinking about them."

"What are you doing Uraraka?" Ojiro said confused and worried by her actions.

"Don't worry, it's fine Ojiro." Marinette said as she put a hand on Ochaco's shoulder to comfort her and if need be defend and deflect any questions. "Right Ochaco."

"Right, just, um, bad memory that's all." Ochaco said glad for Marinette's comfort and support whenever her feelings escaped from where she'd locked them away. "I'll…"

"Look who we have here." A familiar, taunting, voice called out interrupting everything that Class 1-A was doing and brining their attention to him. "Relaxed and full of yourselves as always. Obviously, you've underestimated us again but today we will finally show you that we are better."

The class turned to see the entirety of Class 1-B walking towards them in their winter hero costumes, which seemed for the most part to be just the same as normal as far as they knew as they hadn't seen most of the other class in their hero gear, with of course Neito Monoma leading them. Who else but Monoma would call out to them like that and be eager for this exercise. However, Class1-A was just as fired up as they were for it though none of the class were as deep into the rivalry as Monoma was.

"There you are, we've been looking forward to this." Kirishima said with a grin. "Ready to lose again? Didn't none of you make it past the second round of the Sports Festival despite all that planning? We'd be more than happy to serve up another loss like that to you again."

"They didn't, I made sure of it." Marinette said with a grin. "They were so cocky that I had to take them down a peg or two even after my team had enough points to advance to the next round. They put their money where their mouths were and lost, it was only fair after their declarations after all."

"Last time it was because of that Shinso kid and your bonus students so there's an asterisk against your win." Monoma said showing his delusions a bit. "This time around there's no way that you stand a chance against us in this exercise, after all none of us failed the licensing exam unlike two of your alleged best combatants. So come on, Class A! let's decide who's best once and for all."

At that all of Class 1-B stopped and Monoma posed for them as he laughed while they all took in the other class or in Bakugo's case raged at the reminder of his failure in that bullshit licensing exam. It was time for this deciding event at last and all were ready for it but of course Monoma continued to show how deep into the rivalry he was as he pulled out a piece of paper from his rather fancy looking costume that looked like an old, pre-Quirk era, upper class European suit, and brandished in front of Class 1-A.

"You might want to take a closer look at this survey I conducted." Monoma said with a laugh that would have made any villain proud. "I took it at the School Festival where I asked people what was better, our amazing play or your pathetic attempt at being rock stars and whatever that second song was."

"It was a love ballad sung in our native language to show our story and how coming to U.A. tore down the wall between us allowing us to be together." Adrien said while Marinette nodded at his side now more than ever wanting to beat Class 1-B after yet another provocation from them. "I'm sure one day you will understand what that's like. Besides, any survey conducted by you is bound to be biased and invalid."

"Oh, and what is this, the survey says that we won by two votes." Monoma said laughing clearly not hearing Adrien at all. "You guys have been hogging the spotlight ever since we started school but your standing around campus is trash because of all the attention you've gotten."

"Seriously did we somehow blow it at the festival?" Kirishima asked while Monoma continued to laugh behind them. "Those guys who saw it said we achieved our goals and would spread it. Did they not or something?"

"Plus, Marinette and Agreste's song was so cute." Mina said as she swooned over it, her enjoyment of feeling love by proxy was truly met with that song, especially after she learned what they'd been saying in it. "How could it not be loved when it had so much love."

"I wouldn't put much stock in them." Momo said as Jiro and Sero both looked at the results. "A 2 vote better is well within margin of error and Adrien did point out the bias that would negate any results. Plus, with the timing few saw both. It's fair to say we were even and leave it at that. Besides, a concert and a play, while both entertainment events, can't really be compared properly."

"Thanks Yao-Momo." Jiro said smiling at her friend for inadvertently cheering her up. "No point dwelling on this then."

"Correct, let's focus on the upcoming exercise." Marinette said as she grinned at Class 1-B in a way that made those who were well aware of her reputation within her own class nervous. "And put Monoma in his place."

"Now finally it's Class A versus Class B." Monoma continued to laugh and rant not picking up on anything going on around him. "It's our first joint combat training and you're…"

"That's enough." Aizawa said in a bored tone as he used his binding cloth to wrap Monoma's throat in a strangle hold to shut him up before Kendo could Kendo Chop him into silence like she usually did. "Listen up and focus."

"Yes, because today there will be two special participants joining you in this training exercise." Vlad King, the homeroom teacher for Class 1-B, said as he walked up to join his fellow teacher. "So, make them welcome."

"And try not to embarrass yourselves if at all possible." Aizawa said still holding the cloth that was around Monoma's neck. "Or at least not embarrass yourselves anymore than you already have that is."

"Who's going to be joining us, sirs?" Momo asked confused.

"I'll murder 'em just like I'll murder all you Class B extras." Bakugo said with a grin.

"Is it a babe?" Kaminari added looking hopeful. "We need more babes in the Hero Course."

"Please be a hot one in a skimpy outfit." Mineta prayed.

"We'll do our best whoever it is." Kirishima and Tetsutetsu said again showing how they were constantly in sync with each other. "I promise I won't let my class down."

"These people are interested in switching into the Hero Course and as we have two spots available in Class B for next year we figured that we'd allow them to participate today." Aizawa said in his usual tone as the two people approached side by side causing Midoriya to gasp at one of them though Marinette and Adrien had been expecting this person to show up in some way ever since the Sports Festival. "From General Studies, Class 1-C, Hitoshi Shinso, and from the same course but Class 1-D Bunshi Mizosa."

All of them were aware of Shinso by this point, they'd seen him first when he challenged Class 1-A before the Sports Festival and again at the Sports Festival where he'd backed up his challenge with his actions. He was the only General Studies student to advance to the second round and thanks to Marinette forming a team around him with Adrien and Aoyama he was able to advance to the final round where he lost to Midoriya in the first round of the tournament but still had a strong outing for a General Studies student.

He had really showed off his potential by using his powerful Brainwashing Quirk on 3 of the Class 1-B teams to get their points and almost beating Midoriya with it in the tournament. Only a sudden action by Midoriya that broke two of his fingers snapped the hold at the last possible moment and of all the people present, Midoriya was the one who Shinso really wanted to face again. No one had broken his hold before and he wanted to make up for that today.

As for what he was wearing, Shinso looked like a normal student in the U.A. winter PE clothes but he had a set of binding cloths just like Aizawa's, which the teacher had finally stopped demonstrating to allow Monoma to breath, around his neck. Under it there was a black device that looked to be his support item so it likely went over his mouth and would work in conjunction with his Quirk.

However, Shinso was known to them, so it was the other kid they were more intrigued by. Clearly he was here due to potential and the other available spot but none of them knew who he was. The boy himself was tall, close to 6 feet or so, with a reedy, thin frame that still showed some muscle to it. He had long, aqua blue, hair that fell in waves down to his shoulders and was parted in the middle so that it framed his narrow face and highlighted his matching eyes, aquiline nose, and sharp chin. He certainly looked like he might be able to handle himself in a fight.

Like Shinso, this kid, Mizosa apparently, was wearing the standard gym kit for winter months and like Shinso he had a support item on him. Unlike Shinso however, he did not have the capture cloth as it was clear his support item was too large for it. That was because the item looked like a large, sturdy, tank of water or other liquid that was strapped to his back with a pair of tubes connecting it to a pair of bracers on the kid's wrists that had openings above them to fire out the liquid in a similar way to the one on Vlad King's left wrist. All this pointed to a liquid-based Quirk but none of them knew what it could be.

"Shinso and Mizosa will be joining in on your training today." Aizawa said once the Hero Course had processed the additions to today's session. "They are hoping to be one of you lot next year so treat them as you would any other classmate in this course."

"Shinso mentioned that before the Sports Festival." Midoriya said while Tetsutetsu tried to not rage as this was the kid that had cost him a shot at the tournament, along with the French girl leading that team but she was Class 1-A, so it had made sense she'd try to beat them, but he'd love to have a crack at battling her given her reputation. "Congrats on getting this chance then."

"Uh, is that one of Mr. Aizawa's capture scarves and the tubing looks a little like Mr. King's." Manga Fukidashi asked as he noted the two General Studies students. "Right?"

"The mask and tank look special as well." Kinoko Komori said. "I bet that liquid would help my mushrooms, shroom."

"Welcome to the fight guys." Tetsutetsu said as he got over his annoyance and his normal cheery personality returned. "Looking forward to working with, or battling, you."

"Careful, you'll be brainwashed if you talk to Shinso." Honenuki said recalling what happened in the Sports Festival. "That is what you did to us, right?"

"Yes, my plan was to brainwash a full team, but Dupain-Cheng had learned of my Quirk in advance with her research and proposed a better option." Shinso said. "She also knew yours; she was clear that you were the first to be targeted in your team as you were the defense and thus greatest threat."

"I know, Dupain-Cheng really showed her stuff during the Sports Festival and established herself as one of the best in the Hero Course." Honenuki said the respect clear in his voice. "It was a smart plan and rather fluid to adapt to the situations in the Cavalry Battle. I hope to face her in this coming exercise to truly test my power against hers."

"Shinso's Quirk is certainly a powerful one." Tokage added recalling the Cavalry Battle well and the words Marinette had said to her during it. "I remember being hit by it and then nothing until the end of the battle."

"Wait, didn't Midoriya snap out of it." Mineta asked. "In the tournament when he faced Shinso. He was hit by it but then broke it, and his fingers, right before he walked out of the ring."

"Yeah that was kind of an accident though, I'm still not sure how I managed it." Izuku said which was partly true, he wasn't sure how he managed to activate One for All when he did, but he did know more than he let on.

Izuku paused for a moment however as it hit him, the first time he saw those vestiges was when he was under Shinso's control. That was a lot more to think on especially with his recent dream seeing them again, it all seemed quite coincidental that he'd dream of the vestiges now when he was might soon face Shinso again in combat, but he couldn't dwell on it too much right now as the exercise was about to continue.

"Well, you two, why don't you say some words to the others." Aizawa said to the pair though he only really knew Shinso as Vlad had been the one to take an interest in Mizosa and trained him up for this tryout. "Break the ice if you will."

"Right, well, as you know I'm Hitoshi Shinso and I've already faced some of you as opponents during the Sports Festival." Shinso said as he set himself, this was his moment, and he knew it, so he had to take this chance he had. "Some of you I even worked with during it. Dupain-Cheng pointed out to me the importance of teamwork and how it can help all in the hero world, as well as the chance I had to show off then. It was a lesson I needed to learn so I look forward to working with some of you today. However, just because we fought, that doesn't make us friends. I don't subscribe to that sort of sportsmanship. We're still competing to be the best and as I've seen, I'm countless steps behind you so I need to prove myself."

Shinso paused for a moment as he laid down the gauntlet once again. He wanted them to know that he was serious, that he was ready for this challenge and that they wouldn't intimidate him though at least Izuku understood what he was saying as he'd heard some of this before in their match and knew first hand where Shinso was coming from.

"I will become a hero one day and I will use my Quirk to help people in need." Shinso continued as he briefly thought back on his junior high days and his commitment to one day become a hero despite the sinister implications of his Quirk. "All of you are just hurdles that I must overcome to achieve my goals. I'm not here in search of friends but thanks for having me."

With that Shinso finished his spiel and after a moment some of the students clapped and made a few comments about his attitude or what they already thought of him. It was a bit serious and confrontational but some of them knew it well. Todoroki had been like that until Izuku broke through his walls, Bakugo was still like that to a point, so they could handle it.

Marinette for her part just frowned at Shinso, she'd tried in the Sports Festival to convey the point of teamwork to him, but it seemed he was still a bit stuck in his ways when it came to the competitive nature of the Hero Course. Well, in time that would change she was sure of it once he understood the importance of teamwork and friendship should he secure a transfer and make it as a hero.

"Alright, Mizosa." Vlad said.

"Thanks, that is a bit of a tough one to follow." Bunshi Mizosa said, his voice cool and smooth though the smile on his face not quite reaching his eyes. "As for me, I'm Bunshi Mizosa and I've not faced any of you. I came close, I was the first after the cut at the Sports Festival but that hasn't stopped me. U.A.'s helped me truly understand my Quirk and how to use it, so I'll show you lot today as I intend to one day use it to save many lives and bring villains to justice. I'm not as cynical as Shinso here but I know how far behind I am and so I'll overcome the obstacles that you are and earn my own spot in the Hero Course. Friendship may come in time but for now I am focused on winning. Thank you for having me."

Again, the class paused and some clapped at Mizosa's words. None of them really knew what to expect from him given that this was their first encounter with the boy and as such waited to see what would happen with the exercise which was coming right now.

"Let's get on with this Vlad." Aizawa said to his colleague and ready to begin as this would take a good few hours to get through. "Explain the rules to them if you will."

"Right, enough chatter it's time for combat training." Vlad King said seriously as he turned to the students. "This will be a battle between Class A and Class B in Field Gamma with each team in a different area of the field when the time comes. For this exercise you will be grouped in 5 teams per class with 5 members in 4 of the 5 teams and 4 in one of the teams. Lastly, you will be competing one team at a time."

"That sounds like fun." Tokage said with a smile showing her sharp teeth as she got pumped for the coming exercise. "Hope we get a good mix of teams for this."

"Me too, shroom." Komori squealed.

"Wait how does this work?" Shishida asked. "We have 44 with Shinso and Mizosa but the numbers you just put forward account for 48 people. Won't that make it impossible given the discrepancy between the actual numbers and the proposed battle scenarios."

"Yes please explain." Ida said with a chop of his arm. "I expect there is a reason for this from U.A."

"There is and if you let me I'll explain what it is." Vlad said his tone silencing any more questions. "Due to Class A having 22 students and Class B having 20, Shinso and Mizosa will go twice each as members of 4 of the Class B teams."

"Before you speak Ida I'll explain how it will work for Class A." Aizawa said silencing his class's rep before he could say anything though Ida's arm was already in the air. "Back during your first semester final exams I said that that would be the last time Dupain-Cheng and Agreste were tested as a pair as back then I really wanted to see how they worked as a pair in a scenario against a pro and I meant it. This will be their test with others."

"Huh?" several of the class asked causing Aizawa to sigh.

"Dupain-Cheng, you were top in the last class exercise and as this pertains to you and Agreste why don't you explain." Aizawa said. "I am sure that you've already gathered what I am testing in regards to you and Agreste."

"I can't say for certain but there are two reason for this that I can think of." Marinette said her battlefield brain already active as she analyzed the scenario, the past tests, and what she knew to come to her conclusions. "First is the obvious and main reason for this, you are breaking up mine and Adrien's partnership which was forged over two years of constant work together in France under the partnership system Francois Dupont is known for. You said you would, and this is an exercise to test how well we work in teams without our respective partner, which means that we aren't going to be part of the initial random draw."

"Correct." Aizawa said not surprised that she'd deduced his reasoning, her academics were middle tier but when it came to hero work and assessing situations she was near the top of the class and on par with Yaoyorozu, Midoriya, and Bakugo if not above them at the moment. "And the other reason?"

"Adrien and I are the bonus slots due to the nature of the program we came to U.A. through." Marinette said simply. "So, we should be the ones to bear this responsibility with two General Studies students vying for the spots in Class B that our presence opened up for them though given our experience I am sure there are contingencies in place to balance this training exercise."

"Again correct." Aizawa said with a nod as some of Class B murmured nervously at that as Marinette really showed she had the mind to back up her combat abilities, but Class A were already well aware of Marinette's assessment skills. "As such you and Agreste will go twice but won't pick your teams until last. First the teams of 4 will be selected and then Shinso and Mizosa will select two teams that they will join, again at random. Then, when we know the teams they are in we'll set the one they aren't in aside as the 4 v. 4 match and have Dupain-Cheng and Agreste chose the random teams they will be on in Class A."

"However, to balance this clear unfairness of Class A getting 4 teams with 5 trained Hero Class students and Class B getting the bonus General Studies students we have altered the rules in those matches." Vlad said before any could call it out as he proved Marinette's final point that there was a balance in place. "In all matches the goal is to capture your opponent and put them in the adorably decorated prisons at each Class's base camp that have been set up for the matches."

"Once you are in the jail that's it you're out and the winning team is the team that captures all the other team's members first or has the most captives after the 20-minute time limit has expired." Aizawa said taking up the explanation. "However, for the matches where Dupain-Cheng and Agreste are the 5th member, Class B will only have to capture 4 of the 5 to win while Class A still needs to capture all 5. That way we compensate for the difference in skills and add to the tactical thinking you have to do in those matches."

"That seems fair." Ida said with a nod as screens showed them the prisons in question that had bars, a door, and some Nezu themed decorations welcoming them for 99,999 years. "The skill level is clearly different and adds more to how we plan for our matches as we have to factor in how many we can lose and how many we have to capture. Plus, with the natures of Dupain-Cheng and Agreste's Quirks we have to factor in their recovery if they are on later teams while they factor in their own stamina as they are going twice. U.A. again doesn't disappoint."

"Exactly Ida." Aizawa glad that Ida got it, so he didn't have to explain it anymore.

'Now listen carefully to the scenario." Vlad said. "You are all hero agencies trying to capture a villainous organization so you should consider your opponents criminals and don't hold back in your efforts to capture the members of the other team."

"They do say that villains are organizing more these days, shroom." Komori said. "Makes sense for the scenario."

"Keeping it nice and simply, I like that." Tetsutetsu said getting pumped for the exercise. "As it should be."

"Wait we're heroes to ourselves but villains to the opposing team, I've lost this sort of roleplay before." Ida said remembering his villain roleplay attempt in the battle trial at the start of the year and getting himself twisted in a knot over the whole thing. "It's such a conundrum."

"It does go against your nature Ida." Momo said thinking on it. "Just focus on the hero part."

"Interesting, it would be most efficient to try and disarm our opponents and capture them near their own bases." Shishida said as he analyzed the situation. "But I doubt it will be that easy once the battle begins."

"So, we gotta capture 5 losers then." Bakugo said licking his lips at the excitement of proving he was the best once again.

"Well, you are on a team with others, Bakugo, so if you're not used to fighting together than that can be an issue." Aizawa said. "And there's an 80% chance you're on one of the teams where 4 out of 5 captures results in a loss so there is a disadvantage there."

"You're making us haul around excess baggage?" Bakugo asked angrily. "That's some bullshit right there."

"Don't be mean about it." Kaminari said from behind him.

"It's fine he makes a fair point." Shinso said as he gestured to himself and Mizosa. "We are less experienced than you so we could be liabilities as much as assets."

"Wait but our teams won't have one of you two on it, so your understanding just makes us look like incompetent fools." Kaminari said.

"Now draw your lots." Aizawa said ending any more chatter as he held up a box containing 20 balls and labeled Lots A while Vlad did the same with a box labeled Lots B that ended any chatter. "All but the 4 going twice draw now."

The classes lined up and took their lots from the boxes while Marinette, Adrien, Shinso and Mizosa stood to the sides waiting for their turn. Soon the teams were determined and before the extra members were added looked pretty interesting.

Team 1 for Class A had Tsu, Koda, Kaminari, and Kirishima against Shiozaki, Shishida, Rin, and Tsuburaba of Class B. Team 2 for Class A was Momo, Toru, Tokoyami, and Aoyama against Kendo, Komori, Fukidashi, and Kuroiro of Class B. Team 3 for Class A was Ida, Todoroki, Ojiro and Shoji against Honenuki, Tsunotori, Tetsutetsu, and Kaibara of Class B. Team 4 for Class A was Bakugo, Sero, Jiro, and Sato, against Tokage, Bondo, Awasa, and Kamakiri of Class B. Lastly, Team 5 for Class A was Midoriya, Uraraka, Ashido, and Mineta against Monoma, Kodai, Yanagi, and Shoda for Class B.

Overall, it looked like some interesting teams and matchups that should produce some good battles and tactics. However, all this wasn't done yet as the lots were collected and sorted so that only one ball for each number was left in the boxes. Then Aizawa approached Marinette and Adrien but halted while Vlad approached the two General Studies students as they went first.

"Take two each." Vlad said and first Shinso then Mizosa picked balls out of Vlad's box.

Shinso went first, picking out two balls and then showed Class B that he'd be on teams 1 and 5 while Mizosa got 2 and 4 meaning that the third match would be the 4 on 4. Dutifully Aizawa removed that number from his box before he held it out to the French pair.

"Choose two." He said simply to them before adding quietly. "And don't let me down."

Marinette and Adrien nodded as they pulled out their balls. Marinette got teams 1 and 4 while Adrien was teams 2 and 5 meaning that they'd each face both of the General Studies students. It would also give them time to recover and get healed up after the battles before they got ready for the next one.

"Alright, first two teams head to your staring areas." Aizawa said. "Let's get this started already."

At that Marinette joined with Tsu, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Koda, all of whom were eager for the battle and clearly expected Marinette to take charge before they headed to their starting points while Shinso joined with Shiozaki, Rin, Shishida, and Tsuburaba and they made their way off to the starting points to plan for what was to come. Monoma began his usual cackling laughter, but most ignored it as Ochaco pointed out to Izuku that he'd have a rematch with Shinso.

That was big and Izuku was looking forward to it, plus he had a lot of questions about the vestiges but first he wanted to see the fights and how much Shinso had learned, while studying Class B and that other General Studies kid. As such he pulled out his notebook and began to flip to a new page while Ochaco questioned where the hell he was hiding it. One thing was certain, this was going to be a good and interesting event.

With that, the rest of the class made their way to the observation area where they'd watch the battles on a screen and got ready. All Might, Midnight and Mage all joining them for it as they got to the observation area, and they got ready. It was time for the Joint Training Exercise to begin and see which Hero Class was best once and for all. Hopefully nothing too surprising happened over the course of the next 5 battles as the combatants in the first one got ready to duke it out.

The Joint Training arc has begun and soon we will have 5 weeks of fun battles as I intend to do each battle in one chapter to really do them justice for y'all to enjoy so brace yourselves because at least 4 of these are going to be long chapters as there's a lot to cover and I will not just be focusing on the battles that are going on. To anyone wondering, the other General Studies student is an OC that was suggested to me long ago, before I even began writing this series, but it was in the planning stages, by the same person who got me into MHA by suggesting an MHA inspired OC for my Pokémon story and after accepting the character I checked out MHA and, well, the rest is history. The name of the OC is my own creation and like many of the MHA characters is a reference to his Quirk which will be revealed in time. This was the best place for an OC as there was that extra spot open in Class 1-B though I did have to tweak some things to make everything work for the upcoming battles. Anyway, that is really all I have for y'all for this chapter so I will leave it off here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
