A week later, it was the night of the annual Royal Masquerade Ball and Serena's very first time hosting one, since she took the throne. If Ash hadn't come along in her life, she would have been absolutely dreading it. She still was to a certain extent, but it would at least be a little more bearable with Ash being there. Ash and Serena had only seen each other once since Brock discovered their secret. It was reluctantly agreed that they would see each other less, but Serena did make a point of profusely apologising to Ash, for pulling on his heart strings so cruelly again. Of course, Serena wasn't doing it on purpose for no good reason, but she still felt she owed him that at least. Ash on the other hand, was a lot more accepting of it this time and seemed to be okay with it. But Ash was actually so determined to be with Serena as much as possible anyway. Thankfully, Serena had requested her Musketeers to be present at the ball, as undercover bodyguards, in case anything happened. Yet, that wasn't enough for Ash. He needed to do everything he could to be with Serena tonight, in some way shape or form. Ash had a plan…

It was, of course, prohibited for the princess or any noble to dance with a commoner at a ball of any kind. So, if Ash wanted his moment with Serena, he had to be quick and clever. And he wanted to steal a moment with her now, before it all kicked off in an hour. It was 5pm, as Serena placed her crown on her head and finished getting ready for the big night. She looked at herself in the mirror and took a big deep breath. She was wearing a royal red dress, with white gloves and a red bow in her hair. Serena looked like a million Pokedollars, but her face wasn't quite matching up to it. She was a little anxious about the ball, knowing it could be a long, tiring night. Serena tried to control her nerves and focus her mind. She closed her eyes, but was interrupted by a surprise visitor. They didn't knock and just let themselves. Her heart skipped a beat, as she swivelled around on her chair to see who it was.

'Oh. It's you, Ash.'

Serena smiled and put a hand on her heart in relief.

'The one and only.'

Ash winked at her and Serena rolled her eyes playfully.

'I do apologise for the sudden intrusion, though. I would have knocked, but I had to be quick. I technically shouldn't be here now, should I…'

Serena smirked.

'No. No, you shouldn't. But I'm glad you are.'

Serena was about to get up to hug him, but Ash insisted she stay seated.

'No need to get up, Princess. I'm only here to give you a present for tonight.'

Serena looked taken aback and wondered what it could be.

'Oh, no! You shouldn't have!'

Ash shook his head and wagged his finger.

'Nonsense! We're still together, aren't we?'

Serena nodded without hesitation.
'Well, then. That means I'm going to give you gifts every now and then.'

Ash pulled a box out of his pocket.

'Oh, Ash. That's sweet. But I don't have anything to give you in return.'

'That's okay. I don't expect anything in return. Now turn around and close your eyes.'

'Oh, okay…'

Serena wasn't sure what Ash was going to do and looked a bit apprehensive.

'Trust me, Princess. Just close your eyes for me for a second.'

'Okay. I'm closing them.'

Serena did as she was told and faced the mirror again. Her breathing became heavier, in anticipation of what was going to happen next. And then Ash unwrapped the box and walked up behind Serena. His hands reached over her head and around her neck. Serena immediately got goosebumps at the feel of Ash's hands in such an intimate, vulnerable area. She loved whenever Ash touched her and found herself feeling less anxious now, which caused her breathing to return to normal. Then Ash wrapped something around her neck and tied it up gently. Ash looked up in the mirror and smiled.

'Okay, you can open your eyes now.'

Serena's eyes flickered back open slowly and then she gasped softly. Her hand reached over to her neck and then she couldn't stop a wide smile creeping over her face. In the mirror, she saw a fancy blue ribbon that complimented her red dress perfectly. Being a princess, she had received hundreds of presents before, most of which of much higher value than the ribbon, but none anywhere near as meaningful. It was from Ash. From the love of her life. And that would always mean so much more to her than any other possession she owned. She gushed at it and turned herself from side to side to get a better look of it. Ash grinned at her through the reflection of the mirror.

'Oh, Ash. I love it! It's perfect. Thank you very much!'

Ash scratched his nose and acted coy about it.

'Ah, well, I would have got you something more fancy, like a ring or a necklace… But that was all I could afford. You know, being on commoner wages and all.'

'Oh, you should know by now that monetary value is of no importance to me! Come here, Ash.'

Serena got up and hugged him tight.

'Aw, well, I'm glad you like it. It suits you,' whispered Ash in her ear.

'It really does,' Serena whispered back.

The hug was quite brief, but it was followed by a long, sloppy kiss. They got as much of a taste of each other as they could, before Ash reluctantly suggested he ought to get back to Gary and Brock. He should have been going through the security arrangements of the night with them right now.

'Well, I will see you later, Princess,' said Ash.
'Hmm. Leaving so soon, handsome?'
Serena stuck her bottom lip out and gave him puppy dog eyes.

'Oh, I wish I could stay longer and accompany you to the ball…'
Serena smiled brightly, but you could see a sadness in her.

'Oh, I know. But I will see you soon, My Sweet Prince.'

Serena touched Ash's cheek and rubbed her thumb on it, before slowly and reluctantly letting go. Ash grinned and then planted one last kiss on Serena's lips. He started to walk out, but then turned around to sneak one last look.

'Oh and I forgot to say. You look absolutely exquisite tonight. You know that?'

Serena blushed and giggled, feeling good about herself.

'Oh, why thank you! So do you, Ash.'

She bit her lip and crinkled her eyes at him, appreciating just how good he was looking tonight too. Ash saluted her and then opened the door and left, nearly closing the door, but then he poked his head around the door.

'Oh and that present isn't the only surprise in store tonight…'

He winked and then closed the door behind him. Serena wondered just what that could be and was about to ask, but didn't get the chance to. She shook her head in disbelief that someone as wonderful as Ash, could ever love her as much as he did. Serena felt like she was living a dream at times with Ash. But it was all a big, majestic fairytale come true. And now she had something to always remind her of it. She played with her new ribbon and squealed delightedly at just how cute it was, thinking of how Ash had surprised her with it as lovingly as he did. Serena couldn't stop looking at it and sighed dreamily.

An hour later, the palace gates swung open at 6pm on the dot, to allow the esteemed guests to enter. Serena stood at the front of the palace, with Shauna, her three trusty Musketeers and a few palace guards beside her. Serena shivered a little in the cold evening air, as they awaited their first guests to arrive. Ash was tempted to go over and warm her up with his hands, but he had to restrain himself. He looked away, to try and stop thinking about it. Brock looked over at him and seemed to notice how much it was eating him up and patted his shoulder in sympathy. Then the first guests arrived seconds later. Lord Clemont and Duchess Bonnie arrived in a royal carriage, holding their masquerade masks and ready for the ball. Their chauffeur opened the carriage door for them. Bonnie looked full of joy and excitedly ran over to Serena to give her a big hug.

'Cousin Bonnie! I have missed you!' exclaimed Serena.

'Oh, I've missed you too, Serena!'

Clemont walked over and insisted Bonnie bow to Serena and address her by her proper title. Family or not, she still had to adhere to the rules. Bonnie pouted at her brother and sighed, before bowing and correcting herself. Clemont bowed with her and addressed Serena formally.

'Good evening, Your Majesty. It is a pleasure to see you again, so soon after last week. How are you?'

Serena nodded her head respectfully back at him.

'Good evening, Lord Clemont. Likewise. I am very well, thank you. How are you?'

'I am well too, thank you, Your Majesty…'

Clemont paused for a moment and seemed to have noticed something different about Serena. He titled his glasses down to her neck and spotted a new accessory he had not seen her wear before.

'Is- Is that a new ribbon you have there?' he asked curiously.

Serena put her hand on it and looked down at it fondly.

'Oh, yes! I- um. Well, let's just say, someone special gave it to me.'
'Oh, well that's nice.'

Bonnie admired it and stared up at it in awe.
'Oh, it looks so pretty on you! It really suits you and it matches mine!' gushed Bonnie.
Bonnie was wearing her own, black ribbon and pulled on it happily to show it off.

'Aww. Yes, we are matching, aren't we?'

Serena bent down to Bonnie's height and gave her a closer look of the ribbon. Clemont wasn't concerned about it anymore, though and cleared his throat to change the subject. He wanted to talk to Serena about the arrangements for the night. But Bonnie butted in, before he could speak. Bonnie didn't care much for all the formal small talk at all.

'Your highness! Your highness! Guess what?' she shouted excitedly.

She jumped up and down on the spot. Serena laughed and bent down to her height, before ruffling her hair a little. Clemont sighed and wished Bonnie wouldn't act so informal. They had a family reputation to uphold, after all.

'Yes? What is it, Duchess Bonnie?'
Bonnie let out an excited squeal and could barely contain herself.

'I'm going to help you find your king tonight!' she blurted out.

Ash was trying to concentrate on keeping his back and head straight, in a strict and disciplined Musketeer stance, but he couldn't stop himself from reacting to that comment from Bonnie. He looked over to the side slightly and grinded his teeth together in agitation. What did Bonnie mean by "find your king tonight?" What absolute rubbish, thought Ash! Serena had already found him. He was right behind her! Ash had no intentions of actually being king, however, but whatever you wanted to call it, he had every intention of being Serena's betrothed. Meanwhile, Serena's reaction wasn't much different to Ash's, as she held back a grimace and a groan. But she was still very unimpressed by it. She faked a laugh and patted Bonnie's head.

'Well… We shall see. There's no rush,' said Serena.

Ash was happy with her response and even grinned a little, before re-assuming his pose. Bonnie wanted to talk about it more, but thankfully for Ash and Serena, Clemont insisted that she stop. Bonnie pouted again and reluctantly did as she was told. Then Clemont and Bonnie walked onwards up the palace steps. Serena walked with them, but stopped them before they walked up. She really didn't have to, but she made a point of introducing her Musketeers to them. They all shook hands with each other. Serena was surprised that Brock and Clemont had already met before, but she didn't think much of it. She was more concerned about introducing them to Ash. She so badly wanted to just be honest with them and introduce him to them as her lover, as he deserved to be. Bonnie seemed particularly fond of him too and took to him very quickly. But there was no guarantee, even Bonnie, a potential spark of hope from the new generation to come, would accept it so willingly. And Clemont was a nice enough guy and didn't talk down to commoners just like Serena, but maybe it would be pushing it a bit too far, to expect him to accept his cousin being with one romantically. Serena briefly caught Ash's eye and looked at him a little guiltily for lying and not being truthful about their relationship. She mouthed a "sorry" and then insisted that Bonnie and Clemont go inside with her now to get warm. Ash only nodded back in response, but he was still hurting a little deep inside.

Ash, Brock and Gary remained outside with the palace guards and waited for the arrival of the rest of the guests. Next to arrive were the rest of the lords and ladies of Kalos. Then the lesser statused nobles began to follow after, with Sir Trevor and Tierno amongst them. All of which, came wearing their masks too, just as Bonnie and Clemont had earlier, such were the rules of the ball. There was also a lady with striking blue hair, who looked richer and was dressed more opulently than the other ladies. Now she was definitely the type to look down on commoners and treat them like dirt on her shoe. She gave Brock and Gary a dirty look and looked offended at their mere presence. They weren't wearing their usual Musketeer uniforms, but their basic clothing still made it obvious where they belonged in society. Yet, as soon as she turned her head to Ash, he seemed to catch her eye, which unnerved him a little. She stared at him for a while, in pure fascination. Ash tried to keep his pose up and not let her break his concentration. A bead of sweat poured down the side of his face. The noble woman noticed just how hard he was trying to stand to attention and it amused her somewhat. She chuckled and then simply just winked at Ash, before walking up the palace steps. Ash didn't know what to think of that odd little moment, but he thought nothing more of it. A few more guests arrived next, with one of them looking a little shady, in a cloaked hood. A palace guard asked to see some kind of credentials, just to make sure they were on the guest list and not a potential intruder. There was a bit of tension for a second and it seemed as though there could be trouble. The boys were ready to draw their swords from their hidden satchels. But then the cloaked guest took their hood down and eventually produced the right credentials. So the boys eased up and moved aside to allow them entry.

After the last few guests arrived, the boys entered the palace and locked the front doors. It was now time for the ball to commence. It was all taking place in a ballroom at the far end of the palace. Many royal masquerade balls had taken place there over a long expansive history, all hosted by Serena's ancestors of old. It was in fact, in this very room, some twenty years ago, where the late Queen Grace, met Serena's father. And the rest was history… The boys positioned themselves strategically in a triangular formation around the room. They were not allowed to wear masks or dress like a noble, but they were still dressed quite well for commoners, all for the occasion. Ash had even combed his hair back a little - A very rare thing for him to do indeed! It was a special night, so he had to make a special effort. Ash assigned himself to look after the punch bowl, in case anyone tried to poison it or anything. You couldn't call him paranoid, when Team Rocket were still out there and possibly other agents too, plotting against the princess… Ash was a little distracted, however, by his own plans for the night. But his first priority first and foremost, was and always would be, Serena's safety, of course.

Everything seemed to be in order anyway and Serena was ready to declare the opening of the ball. She had her mask on now and stood in the center of the room and opened her mouth to speak, when she thought she spotted someone that she wasn't expecting to see. She could almost certainly tell by their hair, which stood out a mile. It threw her off a little, but she continued with the announcement anyway and officially kicked off the Royal Masquerade Ball. The music started promptly, as professional violinists and pianists began to set the mood. Shauna was quick to get a drink and dance and left Serena on her own. Some of the men in the room, including Bonnie's selected suitors, noticed her by herself and looked over at Serena with a glint in their eyes, determined to get a dance with her and court her successfully by the end of the night. But none of them realised just how impossible their chances actually were. Serena was quite frankly more interested in just hiding away and making herself as scarce as possible, to avoid them all, including the person who had just irked her. And she tried to do just that, attempting to sit down on her throne at the back of the room, but she was stopped in her tracks straight away.

'Oh, Princesssss…' said a rather annoying voice behind her.

Serena froze and grimaced, wanting to act like she didn't hear it and keep walking. She was right. It was exactly who she thought it was. But she had no choice but to address the person. It thankfully wasn't the voice of a man, though. So at least she could prolong the tiresome, pointless attempts of courting for a while. She turned around slowly and then took a deep sigh.

'Oh. Lady Miette… What a nice surprise to see you here…' lied Serena, through gritted teeth.

'Hmmph. It has been a while hasn't it?'

'It has,' said Serena bluntly.

'Yes... If I remember correctly, the last time we met, you charmed yet another man away from me,' said Miette, with a passive aggressive eye roll.

'Ugh. I told you I was not interested in him and you were very welcome to him. You do not need to hold that grudge anymore.'

'Hmm. You may have said that, yes. But the fact of the matter is, he still wanted you. Not me. As per usual.'

Miette rolled her eyes again and Serena sighed and muttered something to herself. She had been in this situation several times before with Miette over the years. It wasn't her fault that all the boys wanted her. She was a princess after all! Half of them probably just wanted the chance to be king one day, for all she knew. Yet, Serena and Miette still had a rich history despite all this. They were childhood friends from when they were both able to walk and talk. Miette's mother was a family friend of the Durands and very close to the late Queen Grace. So naturally, their daughters grew up together. And that was the only other friend her own age, other than Shauna, that Serena had. They were once just as close as their mothers were, but over the years, Miette had become increasingly more jealous of Serena. Whenever Miette met a boy she liked, they were always more interested in Serena. At first, Miette just accepted it gracefully, but she had become bitter and twisted by it over time - to the point where she had become a rather spiteful person, causing her to fall out with Serena 2 years ago. Now here they were again, facing each other once more, with yet another man the subject of Miette's interests, who unfortunately for her, only had eyes for Serena. Of course, that man this time was Ash. Miette had already taken a liking to him outside and with her experience with men, she was quite a desperate woman and usually moved quite fast. And that meant she was very, very interested in finding out more about Ash. Sooner rather than later.

'That was not my fault, Miette! I cannot control who a man desires and does not desire. Or anyone for that matter.'

Miette sneered and hated to admit Serena was right there. It was not like she went out of her way to steal the boys off her and she couldn't force them to like her.

'Hmmm. No matter. I was too good for him anyway. I have moved on…'

Miette looked at her nails snobbishly and then gave Serena a fake smile. Serena took a sigh of relief. She was happy she didn't have to go through all that again and dig up the past. But Miette wasn't done yet and Serena wouldn't like what she had to say next.

'In truth, I have no interest in rekindling any kind of friendship with you. That boat sailed a long time ago.'

Serena shook her head frustratingly. Miette always had a way of pressing her buttons, even when they were good friends.

'So, why are you here then, Miette?'

'Oh, I'm just browsing… Despite many attempts from several bachelors to court me, I am yet to meet a man worthy of me...'

Serena didn't believe that for a second and had to stop herself from laughing and was thankful her mask was hiding her facial expressions. She knew just how horrible Miette could be, so that seemed unlikely. Miette hadn't finished her point yet, though.

'And not every man will want you, Princess. So I figured I might have a chance to finally out do the lovely, beautiful princess tonight,' she said sarcastically.

Serena picked up on the sarcasm immediately, as her amusement quickly changed to irritation. She tried to stay calm and collected and not let Miette get to her, but it was becoming harder and harder to bottle it up now.

'Well, I have no interest in courting tonight, so please do take your pick,' said Serena.

She shrugged and started to walk away, but Miette wasn't finished.

'Uh uh uh. Wait just one second please, Your Majesty.'

Miette wagged her finger. If this was anyone else talking to Serena like this, she would have called Ash over to remove them from the palace at once, but there wasn't much she could do. Miette was still considered to be a close family friend and a very important lady in society. So it wouldn't look good if the princess was seen to be feuding with her. Which meant Serena had no choice but to allow it. She turned around reluctantly. Serena was so tempted to ignore her, but she just couldn't.

'What is it now? I have other duties to perform tonight, other than engage in pointless trivialities with you.'

Miette smirked, amused now by how easy she was rattling Serena.

'Oh, come now. I merely just want to ask a favour of an old friend. It is the least you can do after everything.'

'What do you mean? What do you want?'

Serena didn't feel like she owed Miette anything, but she just wanted her to leave her alone now.

'Well…'
Miette walked next to Serena and turned around. Then she put a hand on her shoulder.

'I wondered if you could tell me who…'

She pointed her finger around the room.
'... that man is.'

Her finger stopped on Ash, who was serving some punch to Lord Clemont. Serena's heart stopped for a second, as the sudden horror of the situation she was in now hit her hard. Typical. Miette was interested in the one and only man Serena had ever loved. Ironic. Considering Serena was never interested in any of the previous men and never felt like there was any competition between her and Miette. But now it felt as though she HAD to fight her to keep Ash away from her. Yet, she couldn't. That would make it way too obvious and secrets would be revealed. But Serena was very unsettled now, knowing that Miette had her eye on Ash. Especially with the way Serena had been treating him of late. He might have decided he deserved better and be tempted by another woman… Serena really didn't want to tell her a thing about Ash, but once again, she had no choice. It would look far too suspicious if she was seen to be bothered by questions about a mere commoner. Serena just had to tell the truth. But she also had to act like Ash meant nothing to her. Something that could prove almost impossible to do.

'That… Th-That is Ash.'

Serena gulped and felt a little sick having to do this.

'He's, uh… Just one of my Musketeers. Just a commoner. A nobody. I am surprised you are even interested in someone so… so beneath you.'

Serena really didn't want to say that and hoped Ash never had to hear her say something like that about him ever. Miette chuckled.

'Oh, a Musketeer? Well, at least he is on the higher end of the common folk… Musketeers can be rather dashing too, despite their status. And this, Ash, in particular… has the aura of a noble…' said Miette, biting her lip lustfully.

Serena noticed Miette's desire for Ash and had to do everything in her limited power, to keep her feelings under wraps and somehow stop her at the same time.

'Yes, I suppose so. But he is still a commoner. Your family would never approve.'

'Hmm. Yes, you are right. But I am not necessarily looking for anything long term tonight… Besides, I have scanned the room already and not one other man intrigues me as much as him. Not even close.'

Serena's heart sank, feeling like she was failing to put Miette off Ash and that it was only a matter of time before she went over to talk to him now. But one thing was for sure. She agreed whole-heartedly with Miette. For once. Ash was easily the only man in the room worth her attention too. By lightyears.

'Well, that is not very ladylike…' remarked Serena.

'Hmmph. Do not judge me, Princess. I can do whatever I like! And if I wish to bunk up with a Musketeer for the night, then I am more than entitled to. In fact, I am going over to him now.'

Miette flicked her hair sassily and left promptly. Serena panicked and tried to think of something fast to stop her.

'No, you can't!' spluttered Serena.

She immediately regretted the outburst and cursed to herself in her head. Miette turned around with a perplexed face.

'Oh. Why ever not? I do not see him with anyone. So he is mine for the taking!'

'But- but. It is against the rules!' said Serena, very ironically.

Miette scoffed amusedly.

'The rules?! Please, do not make me laugh! Commoners are there to do what we please with. And he should be honoured to have a lady such as myself interested in him. Now, please do enjoy the rest of your night, Princess. I bid you adieu.'

She dismissed Serena rudely and continued walking on, but Serena tried to stop her one last time.

'No, Miette! Don't!'

Serena couldn't stop herself at this point and was genuinely fretting now. Miette stopped and looked at her with a curious look and seemed to be trying to figure something out.

'Wait. You- You don't like him too, do you?'

Serena's face flared up immediately, embarrassed that she was so bad at hiding it. Not just from her. But from Clemont too, last week.

'What? No! That's preposterous!'

Miette shook her head.

'Well, regardless. This time, this man is mine.'

Miette charged forwards to Ash. Serena had to stop herself from screaming and dreaded what was going to happen next. Even if Ash rejected her, it would still irate her to see another woman flirting around her man and not being able to do anything about it. She almost went after Miette to stop her, but her feet felt like lead, debating whether it was worth risking it. It would be wiser to just trust Ash and test how strong their love really was. But she couldn't control herself, as insecurity overwhelmingly took over. She rushed through the crowd, against her better judgement. Rather unfortunately, though, (Or fortunately - whichever way you looked at it), one of Bonnie's suitors approached her and stopped her in her tracks. Then he immediately asked her to dance to her chagrin. That was one thing she was determined to avoid tonight. But once the question was asked, she had an obligation to at least grant the man one dance. Such were the rules of the Royal Masquerade Ball for centuries before Serena was even born. Serena sighed and begrudgingly accepted his request.

Meanwhile, Miette had made eye contact with her target and smirked at Ash a little seductively. Her eyes and lips were all Ash could see through the mask, but that was enough to read what her intention was.

'Hello, handsome. I don't believe we've met. Lady Miette at your service.'

She extended her hand. Ash looked confused and a bit nervous, not expecting a noble woman to approach him quite so suddenly and brazenly like this. He hesitantly raised his hand and shook Miette's hand cautiously.

'Uh, no. We haven't met. But I did notice you outside when you arrived. Nice to meet you, Lady Miette. I'm Ash,' he responded politely.

Miette chuckled.

'Well, of course you noticed. How could you not have, when I am such a beautiful noblewoman? And I winked at you because you stood out to me. And it is very rare a commoner catches my attention. So you should feel very privileged indeed.'

'Uh… Thank you, Milady?'

Ash didn't know what to say and wasn't sure if that wasn't even a compliment.

'Oh, don't bother with formalities. Just call me by my name, Ash.'

'Okay.'

'So, are you gonna serve me some punch or what?

'Oh, right. Yes of course!'
Ash poured some in a cup and handed it to her. She sipped it a little, all while keeping her eyes firmly fixed on Ash. Her gaze was making him a little uncomfortable, as he wondered what exactly Miette wanted with him.

'So…' began Ash awkwardly. 'Is there anything else I can help you with?'

'Hmm, there might be, Ash,' she said flirtatiously.

She batted her eyelashes at him, but it wasn't working on Ash at all. Miette could see that she was gonna have to be far more direct here to have any chance with him.

'Actually, I must confess that I had a little chinwag with the Princess earlier. You see, we go way back…'

'Oh, you do?'

'Mmm hmm. I know her very well. But, I do not know you. So I asked her if she could tell me a little about you.'

Ash looked a little flummoxed by that and wondered if Miette knew anything she shouldn't.

'Oh, right. What did Her Majesty say about me?'

'Oh, not much. Just that you are a Musketeer, protecting her. And I have to admit, while it is a working class profession, it is actually quite chivalrous and…'
Miette leant forwards and whispered in Ash's ear.

'I find it quite hot.'

Ash furrowed his eyebrows and kept a straight face.

'Uh, well it's definitely quite a rigorous job at times,' said Ash, staying neutral.

Miette chuckled and then put a hand on his chest. Then at that exact moment, Serena looked over, while dancing with the second suitor and caught a glimpse of what was happening. She looked upset and wanted nothing more than to pull Ash out of there, away from Miette. Ash caught Serena's eye too and he gave her a wry smile, but his face was screaming, 'Help!' They kept looking at each other for some time, until Miette noticed Ash was distracted, while she was attempting to flirt again. She snapped her fingers in his face angrily.

'Ash! Are you listening to me?'

'Oh, yeah. Yeah. Sure.'

He looked between her and Serena and then Miette craned her neck around to see who he was looking at. She immediately became disgruntled and let out a frustrated moan. It was happening again. Yet another man was slipping through her fingers, because of her ex-childhood friend, who was so annoyingly always going to be desired far more than she would ever hope to be. She clenched her fists angrily and then blew up a little.

'Oh, I see! You like the Princess, don't you? That is why you are not interested in me!'

'What? No! Of course I don't,' lied Ash.

He panicked a little in his head, wondering if Miette suspected anything.

'Hmph. Then why were you staring at her so much just now?! And don't tell me it was just an innocent coincidence. I know what it is like to always see the male gaze upon someone else, but never myself.'

'Oh, no. You've got it all wrong. I was merely just showing concern and doing my duty, to make sure the princess is safe. It is my job, after all. Surely you can understand that, Milady?'

Miette considered it for a second and then sighed.

'Okay, if that is true and you really don't want the princess, then why not ease up a little and have a little fun with me? Because in case you haven't noticed, I have been flirting with you this whole time, Ash!'

'Er. Um. I suppose I'm just not used to moving quite as fast as you are?' he said nervously.

Ash really didn't know what to say and was feeling more and more awkward by the second now. He didn't want to make it obvious his heart belonged to Serena and he also didn't want to upset a noblewoman, so high in status. But Miette had no time for neutrality. She was fuelled by hate and jealousy now, so she decided to go all out now. Miette was desperate to get one over Serena for once and was very frustrated that she never seemed to be able to attract a man enough to ever be interested in her in any way.

'Okay, but we only have one night together. That is the point of a Masquerade Ball, you know. To meet a handsome stranger, like yourself and maybe keep each other company for the night. And it has been a while since I had the pleasure of a man's company…'

'Oh, well I'm flattered, but-'
Miette was becoming increasingly more desperate and just didn't want to be lonely anymore. So she put all her cards on the table now and gave Ash the ultimate temptation to consider.

'Oh, I wasn't asking. I was telling you.'

Ash tried to respond, but Miette put a finger on his lips.

'Alright. I know we barely know each other, but we don't have to know a thing about each other. And it can be quick and discreet. Just for one night. No one has to know. It will stay between me and you, Ash. We can sneak off to a private room right now, if you want. I know a good place…'

'Wh- What are you saying?'

Miette smirked naughtily.

'Oh come on, silly! I am offering you a once in a lifetime chance here…'
'Oh. What kind of chance?'

Ash knew what she was talking about, but acted dumb, to try and put her off him. But it wasn't working one bit. Miette leant forwards and whispered into Ash's ear. Serena looked over at them again and really couldn't stand it anymore. She was becoming increasingly agitated and couldn't stop looking over whenever she could.

'To have sex with me, of course. A noblewoman with a commoner… Just imagine it.'

Ash's eyes widened, shocked that such a noblewoman would be so crude. And Miette even shocked herself a little, saying that. She usually wouldn't actually move that fast. Miette was never what her fellow nobles would call a "harlot," but she thought it could be the only way to steal Ash away from Serena now. It was something a lot of men would have agreed to, without much thought. Especially with it being offered so willingly and readily. Not to mention, Ash had been waiting very patiently (and a little frustratingly), for the day he could finally make love with Serena. He had had sex once before, back on Oak Fields, with a fellow farm worker, called Misty. So it wasn't like he was desperate like Miette was and he was mature enough to not let any urges overtake him. Ash wasn't even attracted to Miette one bit anyway. She was so far from his type. The total opposite of Serena. And of course, he was too deeply in love with Serena first and foremost, to even consider another woman, even if Miette was his type. So it was a very quick and easy decision. He only hesitated, because he wanted to turn her down in the most respectful way possible.

'Um. I'm sorry, Miette. But I can't do that.'

'Hmph. Why not?'

She pouted at him childishly.

'Because. Because…'

Ash just wanted to tell the truth, but he had to hold his tongue there.

'I can't leave my post. I have a job to do and I take my job very seriously.'

Miette was a little angry at first, but then it just changed to disappointment. She sighed and considered trying a different tactic. But she didn't want to embarrass herself any further. Making a fool of herself was the last thing she wanted and she still had her personal pride to maintain.

'Well, okay. That is understandable. It is a shame, though. You are by far the most interesting man here. But I shall leave you alone now. You know where I am if you change your mind.'

She winked at him and then went in search of someone to dance with. Ash awkwardly waved goodbye and sighed a big sigh of relief. He was happy that it was over at last. Ash drank some punch and tried to act casual, looking around the room and observing the ball. But out of the corner of his eye, he saw Serena dancing with yet another suitor. He had prepared himself for this, being warned several times by Serena that it was something he would have to accept, if he was to attend the ball. It wasn't easy to say the least, but Ash was insistent that he wanted to be present. Even if it was painful to see the woman he loved dancing with other men. That should be him up there with her, he thought. Ash knew Serena had no intention of choosing any of the suitors, but he still felt a stinging insecurity creep up on him. He feared that someone else might just happen to take her fancy or Serena may suddenly give in to the system and choose one of them, to make things easier for herself. Ash was mostly confident that Serena wanted him, but that didn't stop him overthinking it.

It was a tough night for both Ash and Serena, filled with angst and jealousy and it was about to get even harder for Serena. Miette wasn't the only one with her eye on Ash tonight. There were five maids in attendance, giving out food and refreshments to the guests. One of them was another blue-haired girl, called Dawn, about the same age as Ash and Serena. Dawn had served for the royal family since she was 10 years old and in her whole time at the palace, she had never come across a man quite as charming as Ash. So when she saw an opportunity to go and talk to Ash, she walked over to him and offered him a macaroon on her plate. She knew Ash had a liking for them and a sweet tooth in general, so she thought it could be a great way to break the ice.

'Oh, yes, please!' said Ash.

He stuffed it down his mouth and thanked Dawn. She giggled at how quickly he ate it.

'You're welcome. I know you like them. I- I'm Dawn by the way.'

'Oh, hello, Dawn. I'm Ash.'

He extended a hand and then they shook hands.

'Yes, I know. I've, er- seen you around, patrolling the palace.'

'Oh, well, I can't say I've seen you before. Sorry.'

'It's okay. I'm just happy to finally meet you.'

Dawn beamed at him, with a slight blush appearing across her cheeks. She had secretly been crushing on Ash from the very first day he arrived at the palace, but he had never even noticed her because of how obsessed he had been with Serena. And he of course, still was. Ash and Dawn made small talk for a while, getting to know each other and hitting it off quite well. It was so much less awkward for Ash than it was talking to Miette earlier and Ash was happy to make a new friend. He did, however, notice that she was flirting with him a lot too. But Dawn was a lot more subtle with it and she was at least a lot more comfortable for Ash to talk to. Yet, that didn't stop Serena peering over from time to time. She couldn't tell if Dawn was interested in him, but she still kept a close eye on her. Ash was a very fine, strapping young man, so Serena figured he would have plenty of other admirers and told herself to not let it get to her. It was just hard when she couldn't go over and claim him as hers. At least then she could put her mind at ease. But she wasn't brave enough to do that and face the scandalous drama it could and mostly likely would cause.

Serena was strangely more tempted to do it this time, though. She was a lot more confident he would reject Miette. Mainly because her personality was so far opposite to hers and that was the quality in Serena, Ash had essentially fallen for the most. She knew Ash valued personality quite highly, despite him falling in love with her at 2nd sight. And that was the concerning thing about Dawn being around him, whatever her intentions. Serena of course, knew her very well and she was actually her favourite maid and enjoyed chats with her about the Kalos showbiz world, both girls being big fans of it. She had an amazing personality too, one Ash could quickly grow fond of. And that wasn't all. Dawn was of the same class as Ash, which was a very big thing to have in common in this day and age. Especially in a potential romantic partner. And that only added to Serena's self-doubt, when she factored in how complicated she was making their relationship. Ash could easily decide one day that he'd had enough and demand that he deserve better. An open, straight forward relationship, with no ifs and buts. It also didn't help that Dawn was also absolutely drop dead gorgeous and had more tempting physical assets than Miette.

Then Serena almost gasped out loud, when she remembered an old custom that was so widely known around the palace, since the Musketeers were established. She remembered her mother having a few Musketeers attend her masquerade balls in the past and how they liaised with the maids. It was common knowledge by now that Musketeers would often get off with the maids on one night stands over the years. Serena's head nearly exploded at the thought of Dawn and Ash together like that. Her head was a mess and the next suitor, who had been waiting for her very patiently, unfortunately got the full brunt of it. Sir Tierno approached Serena and stared at her in awe, helplessly enamoured by her beauty. He had previously already tried to court her on one occasion and of course failed, but he thought he could have more luck tonight. Yet, Serena brutally swerved him with a strong hand to the face before he could say a word and left the room for a much needed break. Tierno looked absolutely devastated and felt his heart shatter into pieces.

Ash noticed Serena leaving and wanted to go after her, but that would make it too obvious. Plus, he didn't want to be rude and leave Dawn while she was still talking to him. She was still flirting a little, but soon stopped altogether, because she realised Ash wasn't going to flirt back and she seemed to eventually get the hint. But she was happy just to have met him. She bid him goodnight and continued to serve the guests.

Then Serena returned shortly afterwards and was happy to see Ash alone again. Well - she was still sad she couldn't keep him company of course. But it was better than another girl sniffing around him. She was desperate for some kind of interaction with him, though, so she acted like she was thirsty and asked for some punch. Ash grinned and was glad to finally be in the company of the only girl he wanted to be with tonight. Ash handed her a cup of punch, but she barely drank any of it, only taking small sips.

'Enjoying your evening, Princess?'

Serena smiled, but didn't look at Ash much. If she did that, then something might have happened that would stop the music dead and send the whole room into shock.

'Why, yes. It has been a lovely night so far, thank you,' lied Serena.

It was nowhere near good without Ash and Serena knew it.

'Good, I'm glad…

There was a lengthy silence, as Ash considered his next words. He knew he shouldn't say what he was thinking, but he said it anyway.

'It's just a shame none of those men you danced with can compare to me, huh?'

Serena's mouth fell open, not expecting that comment to come from Ash at all. She had already warned him how hard tonight could be enough times.

'Ash! Not now!' hissed Serena.
She shushed him, but Ash simply just smiled cheekily back at her. But they weren't alone now and hadn't realised yet.

'Excuse me, Princess Serena?'

Serena turned around and prayed that whoever that was didn't hear what Ash just said. And thankfully, he didn't. It was Trevor, trying his luck now.

'May I dance with you next?'

Serena sighed. Half in relief and half in annoyance.

'Yes, of course.'

Serena gave Ash a longing look and frowned at him. Ash looked back at her with the same pained emotion and hated that they had to be split up again so soon, with barely any time to even just talk. Serena was getting further and further away from him again. Ash had had enough. He decided it was time to put his plan into action and slipped away from the ballroom. As he did, another guest sneaked out too and seemed to be in search of something…

Ash headed to the Musketeer quarters and opened a wardrobe. In there, was a formal blue suit, with a red waistcoat, a light blue cravat, light grey trousers, white gloves and smart black shoes with buckle straps. It was the outfit of a noble, which Ash was "borrowing" and breaking the rules with, even being in possession of it. He technically stole it from a cloak room in the palace, but he was always going to return it after the ball. The idea was to pose as a nobleman, so he could grant himself the privilege to dance with Serena. He got changed into the outfit (after a few murmurs to himself about how tight it was and how uncomfortable it was, with him not being used to wearing such clothes) and was about to rush back to the ballroom, but he then realised he'd forgotten perhaps the most important thing of all. A mask! He couldn't have his dance yet. Not while his face was still on show.

Ash pondered on it and took a little stroll around the palace, to try and think of something clever. Then, just by chance, when he happened to be on the bend of a corridor, where one of the royal lavatories was, he saw a poorly looking guest rushing towards it. Ash quickly hid behind the corner and saw the guest take his mask off and throw it down to the floor. Ash couldn't believe his luck, having his problem solved so timely and conveniently like that. He picked the mask up and put it on and then heard the guest throwing up in the lavatory. He'd clearly had too much to drink. Ash sniggered and then walked back to the ballroom. But then he thought he saw someone in the shadows of the corridor candlelight and froze still on the spot. He turned his head around and looked up and down the corridor, but there was no one there. Ash shrugged and kept walking onwards. He would have usually investigated something like this further, just to make sure it wasn't an intruder. But he had other priorities on his mind right now. Ash's instinct was 100% right, however. He wasn't going mad there at all. There was in fact someone behind the corner, sneakily snaking their way around the palace and checking every room for something…

Ash confidently strolled back into the ballroom and immediately seeked out Serena, who was talking to Bonnie and Clemont now, having finally danced with all the potential suitors. She was exhausted and happy to be able to just talk to her cousins now for the rest of the dance. Even if Bonnie was constantly pestering Serena to pick one of her suitors. Clemont wasn't quite as insistent as his sister, but he was also keen for his cousin to give one of them a chance. But he knew how unlikely that was and to no surprise to anyone, Serena was still very stubborn and tried to deflect away from it and change the subject. Ash saw his opportunity to move in now. It was the perfect moment to step in. He slowly approached her from behind, as Clemont alerted Serena to his presence.

'Oh. Speaking of suitors, I think you may have missed one out, Princess,' said Clemont.

'Oh, no. Really? Another one?'

Clemont nodded and pointed behind her. Serena sighed and turned around to face the mystery man. But as soon as she faced him, she felt something in her gut. There was something different about this one. She, of course, didn't have a clue it was Ash. Yet, she seemed to sense his aura a little, or at least one similar to his own. Serena tilted her head and tried to picture what the person would look like without the mask. Then Ash bowed and knelt down on one knee.

'May I dance with you please, Princess?'

He extended his hand.

'Y-You may.'

Ash stood back up and Serena took his hand. Bonnie and Clemont smirked at each other, feeling like this guy could finally be the one. They left them to it and got a drink. Ash and Serena danced slowly, with carefully timed steps. Ash had been practising with Brock for weeks to get this right and the lessons were paying off instantly. There was only silence (bar the background music), as they just let the dancing do the talking. But Serena was still curious about the identity of this man. She tried to look into his eyes, but it was quite hard to see them properly in the candlelight. Nonetheless, there was something oddly familiar about them. Then Ash smirked, thinking Serena was starting to realise something. Serena smiled back, feeling a strange sense of comfort from this stranger. She had to know who he was now, to see if her instincts were right.

'Who-Who are you?' she suddenly asked, out of nowhere.

Ash chuckled and leaned forwards to whisper in Serena's ear.

'Your Sweet Prince, Princess. Surprise!'

Serena gasped and finally got the chance to look deep into the man's eyes. The voice was enough confirmation, but now she got to see the eyes closer - those enticing brown eyes she couldn't stop getting lost in, she was absolutely overjoyed. To be dancing with the right man at last, who she truly wanted, was the happiest she'd felt all night.

'A-Ash? But how?' she whispered.

Ash put a finger on his lips and shushed her quietly.

'Don't worry about that, Princess. I'll explain later. But for now, I just want my dance with you. About time it was my turn.'

Serena giggled and just nodded her head in response, allowing Ash the pleasure to finally have his moment with her. They didn't speak another word for the whole dance. There wasn't any need to. Bonnie excitedly watched on from afar and kept nudging Clemont and telling him that they had found Serena's king at last. Both of them could tell just by body language alone, that Serena approved of this man. And they were determined to speak to this man at the end of the night, to see if he was willing to court the princess further. Even with masks on, they looked like Cinderella and Prince Charming on the ballroom floor. The dance lasted a while too, longer than any other dance Serena had had tonight. And she was very tired too. Physically and mentally, so it really said a lot! The best dance was most certainly saved 'till last. Then Serena suddenly got the urge to leave and sneak off from the ball. She leant forwards and whispered in Ash's ear.

'I need you alone, Ash. Meet me in my quarters in ten minutes. You go first.'

Ash was pleasantly surprised to hear that and was quick to agree to the arrangement. That was more than he was bargaining for tonight. They had barely had any alone time since the day Brock caught them. So he wasn't going to pass up this chance. They stopped dancing and then Ash bowed and took his leave. On his way out, he noticed Brock trying to flirt with some of the other maids and slowed down a little to get a good laugh. That was so typically Brock, he thought. He also noticed Dawn talking to Gary now, while Shauna was shifting her eyes over to them every now and then, a little worked up by it. He chuckled again, knowing that there was definitely some kind of unsaid tension going on between Gary and Shauna once again. It was about time that they just admitted that they like each other already, thought Ash.

After a few more chuckles himself, Ash continued to walk out and then Bonnie and Clemont spotted him leaving so suddenly. They didn't know if he was coming back, so they tried to catch up with him, but they couldn't keep up. Ash walked back across the palace corridors and into Serena's quarters. By the time Clemont and Bonnie reached the corridor leading to the quarters, he was already inside. They scratched their heads and wondered where he could have got to. The siblings shrugged and then returned to the ballroom, hoping he too would return later. They just had to remember what he was wearing…
*

Ten minutes later, Serena was on her way to see Ash, as planned. She was about to open the door to her quarters, when a gut feeling stopped her, similar to Ash's earlier. Maybe she was just being paranoid, because she didn't want anyone to piece things together and realise Ash and Serena had both left. Yet, she felt as though someone was watching her. And her intuition was right. The mystery guest was hiding again behind a corner, but this time they had found what they were looking for and were looking to exit the palace, unnoticed. So Ash and Serena had nothing to worry about. Well, at least, not about anyone else finding out about their relationship. This mysterious figure was on a mission and unconcerned about anything else. Serena considered investigating, just as Ash had debated with himself earlier, but she had too much to talk about with Ash and wanted to salvage as much time with him as she could tonight. So she shook the thought away and turned the door knob and entered her quarters, where Ash was patiently waiting for her on her bed.

Serena closed the door behind her and then she took her mask off and placed it on her bedside table. Ash got up and took his off too, knowing it was safe to do so now and placed it next to Serena's. Then he suddenly lunged on Serena and kissed her passionately, full of lustful impatience and unable to keep away from Serena any longer. Serena kissed him back, but stopped the kiss short. She had burning questions that needed answering first, before any more of that could continue. Ash mumbled something in protest and tried to kiss her again, but Serena resisted the urge and told him she needed to talk first.

'Oh, alright then. What do you want to talk about?' he asked.

Serena sighed and asked Ash to sit down with her.

'Okay, I have to ask you something important. And I really don't want to sound like the jealous type here. But… What EXACTLY did Miette say to you earlier? And I want you to be completely honest with me, because I KNOW she was trying to flirt with you. She told me herself and I could see it anyway.'

Ash raised an eyebrow and took a deep breath.

'Alright. In that case, I won't mince my words here… She-She offered me a night with her… To-To have… sex with her.'

Ash struggled to even say it and looked disgusted at the mere thought of it. But Serena's reaction was a lot angrier than Ash expected, as her eyes blazed in a red hot rage.

'WHAT?! She never said she was going to do that? She barely even knows you! How could she be so… so… so promiscuous!'

Ash shook his head, showing just how bizarre he thought the whole situation was.

'Well, honestly? It was very uncomfortable. She just seemed… and I don't mean to be rude here… But she seemed desperate.'

Serena nodded in agreement and seemed to be calming down a little now.

'Plus, she seemed to be pretty upset when I was looking at you instead of flirting back with her. I-I think she may have figured out I have feelings for you, actually.'

Serena's eyes bulged out, becoming panicked in seconds.

'Oh, no. You didn't tell her, did you? She doesn't know, does she?'

Ash shook his head again.

'No! Of course not. I don't think she knows we're actually together. She just figured out that I like you. That's all.'

'Hmm. Well she figured that out on my side pretty quickly too.'

Serena stroked her chin. She still wasn't satisfied yet and had more questions.

'So, you definitely turned her down then, right?'

Ash looked bemused and even a little offended that Serena would even ask that question.

'Of course I did! You know by now that I'm fully committed to you! Besides, Miette's really not my kind of girl… But even if she was, you should really know by now that you are the only one I want!'

'Yes, I know. I am sorry. I just had to make sure. And, uh… I have made you wait a while for what Miette offered you. So, I wouldn't have blamed you if you were a little tempted to do it with her.'

Ash smiled and stroked her hair.

'Oh, Serena. Sex really isn't the be all and end all for me. I would much rather wait an eternity to do it with you, rather than have meaningless sex with someone I have no feelings for whatsoever.'

Serena started to go starry eyed again and still couldn't believe she was lucky enough to be with someone as sweet as Ash.

'Th-Thank you. I really appreciate that. But I definitely won't make you wait THAT long!'

They both laughed and began to see the funny side of everything.

'Well, if Brock hadn't interrupted us last week, we could have already done it. So, it's really not been your fault at all, Serena.'

'Yes, that is true. It has not been easy to even find the time for dates and kissing, let alone all the rest of it.'

'Well, I'm happy to wait until the right time.'

Serena looked him in the eyes and saw just how genuine he was, but she was still a little insecure and had one more question on her mind.

'I know. But, there is still something else bothering me… What about the maid you talked to after Miette. She looked like she was interested in you too, if I am not mistaken.'
Serena twiddled with her thumbs nervously and looked up and down between them and Ash.

'What? You mean Dawn?'

Serena nodded and Ash shook his head once more without hesitation.

'Well, I'll be completely honest with you again. She did say she had a crush on me and was flirting with me too…'

Serena sighed and rolled her eyes. She wished women would keep their hands off him, but she had to expect it, when Ash was such an eligible bachelor. Which was something she, nor Ash had any control of. Ash could tell it was annoying her, though and quickly squashed it again.

'But I turned her down too! In fact, I think she might have moved on already…'

'Okay, good.'

Serena took a sigh of relief.

'You really have nothing to worry about, Serena,' reassured Ash.
Ash held Serena's hand and rubbed it soothingly.

'I know. I know. And I apologise for the questions. I just panicked a little. See, I was confident you would turn down Miette. But I wasn't so sure about Dawn. Because she is stunning… And of the same social status as you.'

'And that means absolutely nothing to me.'

'Well, again. I would not have blamed you. Especially because I have made such a fuss about our relationship being kept a big secret. It would not have to be like that with Dawn. You could really be loved like you deserve and not go through so much pain. So I could not help but overthink it!'

Ash scoffed and squeezed Serena's hand tight.

'You're right. It would be easier, yes.'

Serena gasped and was about to open her mouth to say something to that, but Ash wasn't finished yet.

'But the easy way isn't always the right way. I'd much rather do it the hard way to be with you.'

Serena almost lost her breath hearing those beautiful words of affirmation. She squealed happily and hugged Ash tight.

'Me-Me too,' she whispered.
Ash smirked.

'None of those noblemen really did compare to me, did they? Far too boring for you, right?' he joked, a little cockily.

Cocky or not, Ash was 100% right. And Serena wasn't going to settle for anything less. Even if it could be easier for her too.

'No. No one does.'

They pulled apart and just looked at each other in silence for a minute.

'I'll say something, though…' said Ash. 'You really ARE the jealous type, even if you don't care to admit it.'

Ash stuck his tongue out cheekily and teased Serena a little. Serena scoffed, but didn't dispute it at all.

'Okay, yes. Maybe a little. But that is just because I want you to be mine.'Ash gave her a smug look.

'Oh, you already are, Princess.'

But Serena disagreed and shook her head.

'No. No you are not. Not yet.'

Ash looked confused and questioned her.

'You can not be truly mine and I can not be truly yours. Not until I give you all of me. Tonight has made me realise that.'

'What do you mean, all of you?'

'Oh, My Sweet Prince. You have waited long enough. I have waited long enough. I want to be yours in every way. I-I want to make love with you. Right now.'

Ash looked stunned by Serena's sudden proposal and gave her a serious look, with astonished eyes.

'A-Are you sure? You don't have to do it, just because you're worried about me being tempted by another woman. Because I've made it very clear that it's never going to happen. Ever.'

Ash didn't want them to do it if Serena wasn't actually ready yet and was trying to be very considerate here. He wanted it like nothing else, but he feared she may have been rushing into it. She he just had to make doubly sure it was the right time first.

'I know, Ash. It has nothing to do with that. I just feel ready now. I have wanted this for the whole night. For weeks and weeks even! So I need you now. I need to feel the ultimate connection with you. Besides, everyone is still preoccupied and dancing and having fun. No one should interrupt us this time. So now is as good a time as any.'

Serena winked and then Ash nodded and eased up a little.

'Okay, if you're sure…'

'I am very sure. I want you to have my virginity now, Ash.'
Ash remained wordless for a while, just staring at every last striking feature of Serena's pretty face. He had basically received three offers of sex tonight - Even if Dawn's offer was much more subtle. But this was the only one he cared for. The only one he acknowledged and couldn't possibly refuse. He would be a fool to say no now. Ash grinned wide a little goofily, full of excitement and drunk on love and lust.

'Oh, my beautiful princess. It will be my honour.'

Serena grinned back at him. Then there was nothing but heavy breathing for the next minute, in hot anticipation of what was about to happen. It was just a question of who would blink first and make the first move. Remarkably, they both went for it at the same time and pushed their lips together hard, smooching loudly and freely, as they fed their repressed desires at last. Hardly any body parts were left untouched, as they reacquainted themselves with each other and continued where they left off last week. It was the most intense they had been with each other yet, with barely any pauses to breath. And they weren't going to take this slow at all. Time was never guaranteed for them and they had been waiting long enough now. So it didn't take long until their clothes were ripped off and they finally saw each other's naked bodies for the first time. And it was definitely worth the wait for both of them. The foreplay didn't last too long either. They had no time for that. They could do more of the gentle romantic stuff when they got another opportunity. All they cared about now was getting to the main event, before anything or anyone could stop them again. They were both ready to go, full of endless love and lust. Serena was laid on her back and looking up at Ash on top. She was presenting herself to him in the most intimate and vulnerable way possible and she needed him to do the same now. Ash leant down onto her and cupped her face delicately and kissed her softly.

'Are you definitely sure, Serena?'

'Oh, oui, oui! Just take me now, Ash! And that's an order!'

Ash smirked, a little surprised Serena was being so assertive all of sudden. Horny Serena was a very different kind of princess, he thought. But he liked it. Ash stroked her hair tenderly and obeyed Her Majesty's orders more than willingly.

'Your wish is my command, Princess...'

The forbidden lovers had at last been allowed their special night together, they had been craving for so long now. And it was as perfect as it could be, as they both laid claim to each other. From this night onwards, there would be absolutely no question of the validity of their relationship anymore. They were locked in forever now. Sex meant a great deal to both of them emotionally. Especially Serena, who had always told herself to wait for the right one. And she knew Ash was that person for a long time now. Whether that meant they would start seeing each other more again, though, remained to be seen. But one thing was for sure. It would be so much harder for them to stay away from each other after tonight. The addiction for more and more would send them relentlessly crazy. Crazy in love. It was just a question of how much Serena actually still cared about keeping it all a secret from this point onwards…
