Sakura was merely 20 years old when she became an Uchiha. For her parents and acquaintances, it was a nightmare. For Sakura, it was a dream come true. She had wanted the affection of the Uchiha since she was a shy 6 year-old who was mercilessly bullied by her peers.
After being assigned to the same team, her feelings only deepened as they went on life-threatening missions together. When he abandoned Konoha in pursuit of power and vengeance, Sakura felt as if she had lost a part of herself.
The lengths that Naruto went to, to rescue Sasuke from Orochimaru's callous plans, was what pushed Sakura to become Tsunade's apprentice. However, becoming Tsunade's apprentice was not enough. It would take several painfully slow and long years for Team 7 to become whole again.
Now, Sakura Uchiha was 25 years old, and she had lost him; the person who had made her life feel complete. The person who she had spent years trying to save from the likes of Orochimaru, Itachi, and Tobi. She lost Sasuke to something she never anticipated.
A sudden sickness that initially robbed him of his mobility, and later his life. Neither Sakura nor Tsunade's exceptional medical ninjutsu could save him from his cruel fate. Sakura watched him deteriorate for weeks in their small and isolated cottage.
There was no point in staying at the cottage anymore because now it was home to the painful memories that she wanted to rid herself of. All she had left of him was their daughter, Sarada, who was barely 1 years old at the time of his untimely death.
For the first time in years, Sakura was back "home". She carried a sleeping Sarada, who was wrapped in several blankets, in her arms. Sakura also carried a backpack that contained only the bare essentials. She left behind most of their belongings because she could not handle staying in the place that she lost him.
The only reason Sakura left Konoha to begin with, was because Sasuke wanted to start fresh. It wasn't easy to leave her village, friends, and family for a more solitary lifestyle. But, she endured it for him.
