Both Luz and Dysley let out a deafening roar as they charged at each other, the ground shaking with each step they took. The fight was on, and it was going to be a fight to the death. They collided with each other with a loud crash, and Luz was immediately pulled off her feet. Despite his gaunt appearance, Dysley's strength was incredible, and it caught the human witch off guard. He then threw her to the ground before clamping his jaws on her arm. She howled in pain as her opponent began to shake her back and forth like a rag doll, his teeth sinking in deeper as he did.
Luz knew she had to free herself. She closed her eyes and focused on her core. All of her training was going to pay off in this fight.
Concentrate. She thought. Think of what you want, and…
Her body let out a pulse of energy, knocking Dysley off of her and onto the ground. Wasting no time, Luz pounced on her opponent and began to furiously slash at his chest with her claws, cutting skin and muscle each time. Her opponent retaliated by thrusting one of his hooves into her stomach, kicking her off of him.
Dysley stood back up in an instant, and began to summon dozens of icicles out of the air before hurling them at Luz. The human witch was only just fast enough to teleport out of the way. She then pulled out a glyph and used an ice spell of her own, summoning a huge ice spear and throwing it at her opponent, but Dysley blocked it with a forcefield.
So that's how he wants to play, huh?" Luz thought to herself.
She then used a wind glyph to kick up dirt and dust before throwing it at her opponent. The wendigo's force field stopped it from getting in his eyes, but it still prevented him from seeing anything, and that's what Luz was looking for. She lept forward and slammed into the force field as hard as she could. The impact sent Dysley back several feet, and he again landed on the ground with a thud.
The human witch leapt again for a follow up attack, but her opponent did something that caught her by surprise. He opened his mouth and fired a stream of lightning from it, striking Luz and sending her flying through the air. She landed on the ground hard, wincing in pain from the burns the lightning had caused, and she had no time to get up. Dysley charged forward and kicked her, sending her flying further back into the arena wall and creating a huge dent. He then unleashed another bolt of lightning from his mouth at his opponent.
Again, Luz teleported out of the way before the attack could hit her. Dysley was getting annoyed at this point, and continued to fire the lightning as his head followed Luz around the arena. The human witch ran, jumped, and ducked as she tried to outpace the deadly bolt while it ignited or exploded everything it touched. This made Luz nervous. She didn't know where her family was, but she knew they were in the arena somewhere, and the last thing he wanted was for them to get hit by a stray bolt or getting spotted by Dysley. It would make the entire plan fall apart. She had to keep her opponent's focus on her and not the surrounding area.
Thinking fast, she pulled out a fire glyph and threw flames straight into Dysley's face. He roared in pain and anger as he held his head, flames and embers trickling off of it. This left an opening for Luz, and she took advantage of it by throwing herself onto her opponent's back, biting into his shoulder and digging her claws into his sides. Dysley roared in pain again as he began to thrash violently, trying to throw her off. But the human witch held on, and tried to readjust her jaws to bite into the wendigo's neck.
She just couldn't get a clear shot however, and eventually Dysley's thrashing caused her to fall off slightly, allowing him to bite into her arm again and throw her off his back. He then tried to swipe at her head, but she dodged out of the way and delivered a counter swipe to his side, drawing more blood. The wendigo was furious now. He summoned fireballs of his own and began to hurl them one after another at Luz. The human witch teleported out of the way, but this time her opponent was anticipating it. He lunged forward and grabbed her leg before flinging her to the ground.
Without letting go, he began to relentlessly stomp onto her chest over and over again to the point where bones could be heard cracking. Luz tried desperately to break free, but it only caused Dysley to stomp on her harder. Eventually though, he stopped, but kept his foot firmly placed on her chest.
Luz could barely breathe, and wheezed as she tried to get some air into her lungs. Meanwhile, Dysley just stared at her, his black hollow eyes piercing into her. They had a look of satisfaction in them.
"You have no one to blame but yourself, Noceda." He said. "Had you not been so selfish, you may have had a chance to live some form of life. But now, you have forced my hand and doomed yourself to death."
The human witch glared back at him. "No thanks. I've already done that. Not a fan."
"You don't have a choice. Not anymore."
Luz then heard a sound coming from behind her, a sound Dysley didn't seem to notice, and she smirked. "Actually, I do."
The wendigo raised an eyebrow. "And why is that?"
"Well, the choice isn't just mine. It's a group effort."
"WEH!"
A sudden blast of sound hit Dysley head on. He wasn't expecting it at all, and it knocked him clean off his feet.
"What the…?!" He groaned in annoyance before getting back up. And when he did, he saw Amity, Eda and Lilith in their harpy forms, and King all standing there glaring at him. They were all ready to tear him apart for everything he did.
Instead of being scared however, Dysley gave an disappointed sigh and turned to Luz. "I warned you, Noceda. You had to face me alone, but I guess your friends couldn't help themselves. Now you will suffer the consequences and watch those innocent hostages die."
He turned to the red force field and closed his fist, intending on detonating the energy and killing those inside…but nothing happened. The force field remained there, and so did the people. Dysley's face scrunched in confusion and he closed his fist again and again, but got the same result. Suddenly, the red sphere and the people disappeared, and in its place was Gus giving the wendigo a smug look.
"Not so funny when you're the one being tricked, isn't it?"
Dysley's face twisted with rage. In a move similar to what his people did at the owl house, Luz's family had snuck in and freed the hostages while he was distracted. They used his own strategy against him, and that made him furious.
He opened his mouth to fire lightning at Gus, but that was not meant to be. Luz, Eda, and Lilith all tackled into him at the same time, sending him flying through the air and into the wall. He was given no time to recover. Eda and Lilith immediately flew onto him and began hitting him with light glyphs. He screamed in pain as the energy burned his body, and he retaliated by blasting both sisters off of him with a bolt of lightning.
He then began to summon some fireballs, but caught movement out of the corner of his eye, and looked to see Amity charging at him with the light sword from the museum in hand. The wendigo scoffed and caught the purple haired witch's arm with ease when she attempted to strike.
"I don't think so." He said with a smile as he prepared to incinerate his opponent with his fireball. Amity knew she had to act fast, so she formed a spiked abomination fist and launched it into her opponent's face, causing him to grunt and loosen his grip on her arm. She took this opportunity to free herself and swing her sword again.
This time, the blade found its mark, and severed Dysley's right arm just above the elbow. The wendigo roared in agony as he clutched his stump, which was smoking from the light magic.
"You like that?!" Amity roared. "Cause I got plenty more where that came from!"
Dysley was furious now, and retaliated by hitting the purple haired witch with a back hand, throwing her in the same direction he had sent Eda and Lilith, but burned himself on the light pendent Amity was wearing. Seething with anger, the wendigo then summoned and hurled a flurry of icicles towards the trio. These however were blocked by a force field courtesy of King before Luz slammed into his side again, knocking him back against the wall. Her adrenaline was numbing any pain she felt.
"Attacking me is one thing!" She yelled. "BUT STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MY FAMILY!"
She began to again throw blow after blow at her opponent, her claws cutting into him each time. Each of those blows was more forceful than the last, and Dysley roared in pain as she did. She was on the verge of slicing him to pieces. But before she could, the wendigo summoned another fireball and knocked her off of him.
Luz quickly shot back to her feet however and used a plant glyph to summon some vines that wrapped around Dysley's neck. She then pulled backwards as hard as she could to restrain her opponent, while also hoping that she would choke him out.
The wendigo gasped for air as Luz continued to pull, but he then used another fireball to burn through the vine before knocking her back further with another blast of lightning.
Amity charged forward again and took another swing with her sword. Again, Dysley saw the attack coming and dodged out of the way before summoning a large ice spear in his hand. It became a duel at that point, with both fighters clashing fiercely against each other, neither backing down. Even with one arm, Dysley was much stronger, but Amity was more agile, and she took full advantage of this as she dodged and her opponent's attacks.
At one point, Dysley attempted a wild swing with his ice spear, but Amity ducked and rolled under him before delivering a counter attack with her sword, slicing across her opponent's back. The wendigo again roared in pain as smoke emanated from the wound, and retaliated by delivering a strong kick to the purple haired witch, causing her to fly backwards.
Dysley turned and prepared to charge at Amity. But before he could, a fire glyph from Eda, who had recovered at this point, collided with his head and blinded him yet again.
As he rubbed his eyes in agitation, the owl lady and Lilith took advantage of the distraction and flew over before sinking their talons into each of the wendigo's shoulders. They then began flapping their wings and hoisting him off the ground into the air, and it was only then that Dysley got the embers out of his eyes and realized what was going on. He tried to use his remaining arm to swipe at them, only to be hit in the chest by a light glyph from King.
"He's not going anywhere!" King shouted. "Go get him!"
Luz nodded and lowered herself to the ground. She then turned to Amity with a smile. "Ready, Mi Amor?"
The purple haired witch smiled in return and hopped onto her back. "Ready, wolfie!"
Even after everything Dysley did to them, the couple still felt uneasy about actually killing him, but they knew it had to be done. If they didn't finish this now, he would just keep coming after them, and that was not something they were going to allow.
Luz launched herself and Amity into the air, while at the same time Eda and Lilith hurled Dysley towards the couple. The wendigo's face was that of sheer terror. He knew what was about to happen, but couldn't do anything about it. All he could do was look on as he wondered how in the world had he been bested.
"NOW EAT THIS,SUCKA!" The couple both yelled before swinging as hard as they could, cutting Dysley into three pieces. Luz's claws severed his head, while Amity's sword cut his body in half. The two pieces of the wendigo's now lifeless body hit the ground with a hard thud, followed shortly by his severed head landing a few feet away.
Luz and Amity then landed and looked back at their now deceased opponent. As they processed the scene in front of them, their heavy breathing slowly subsided, and their bodies became less tense.
It was finally over, and Luz breathed a sigh of relief before transforming back to her human form.
"That. Was. Awesome!" King shouted as he tackled her and Amity in a hug.
Luz grunted in pain, but laughed as she ruffled his fur. "Careful buddy, I think I have a few busted ribs!"
"Sorry, I can't help it! I think that was just as cool as when we beat Belos!"
"You really think so?"
"I sure do!" Eda said as she and Lilith landed next to her. "You had full control of your curse and held your own against Dysley like a champ! I…I am so proud of you!"
The owl lady started shedding tears of happiness, and Luz couldn't help but do the same.
"Oh, come here, you!" She choked. "You too, Lilith!"
The two sisters didn't need to be told that twice. They immediately joined in the hug and continued to cry with joy. They did it. They had won. After all the pain they had been through, it was finally over. Dysley was no longer a threat to their lives, and they no longer had to live in fear.
Suddenly, Lilith pulled away and looked at Luz with wide eyes. "Oh my titan! Luz, your arm!"
The human witch looked down and winced. Dysley's bites had left pretty deep gashes in her arm. The burns left by the lightning were nothing to scoff at either.
"Oh jeez. I got really torn up back there."
She then turned back to Lilith as a thought occurred to her. "Wait, wendigo bites are not infectious too, are they?"
The historian shook her head. "No, you don't have to worry about that, but we still need to do something about those wounds."
"On it." Amity said before applying some healing magic to Luz's arm. "It's not much, but it'll be a good start, and it'll stop the bleeding."
"Good to hear." Luz said. "Honestly though, he could have torn my arm off and I wouldn't have cared. We did it. We stuck together, and we did it."
King smiled and nodded. "Just like we always do!"
"Not only that," Lilith said. "But this is surely going to be a wake up call to everyone on the Boiling Isles. The girl that they thought was going to be a danger to them ended up saving the day."
Luz blushed, but also shook her head. "I couldn't have done it without any of you guys."
Amity rolled her eyes, but laughed. "Oh for titan's sake, just shut up and take the credit for once."
The human witch gave her puppy dog look. "Only if you take the credit with me. We finished it together after all."
Amity smiled and gave her a kiss. "Deal."
