Battlewinner sat on her new throne, trying to listen to the general ramble on about some of the notes her father left before he died to Rigel's talons. She should be paying attention to the general at least a little bit, but she had already read over them herself and had many other things plaguing her mind.
The notes were from the invasion her father planed out with her. Out of everything, she had to agree with Rigel on this.
They had to expand.
Even as a younger dragonet, she noticed that there was hardly any room on the island, and now that she had been Queen for the last couple weeks... she has noticed even more so. NightWings kept on coming to her, wanting to know when they could get their own place to live, but she kept on coming up with no answers.
The NightWings had been carving homes into the mountain side for generations, and if they tried to carve it up even more, it would stand a high risk of the side's integrity failing and collapsing into the ocean.
She quietly groaned as she leaned back into the throne. Besides this one issue, everything else has been a cake walk. All the lessons she had with her father, and already knowing about what was expected too, made it to where there was hardly anything she wasn't ready for when she became Queen.
She was well received by the population since her mother did murder her own husband in cold blood with a bunch of witnesses saying her father did nothing wrong... she lightly growled.
After she became Queen, she immediately decided that she needed dragons she could trust on her side. It was an obvious choice to make Mastermind the head of re-search, and Morrowseer being one of the head generals also seemed to be a good choice. They both fit the roles perfectly.
Speaking of trust...
The throne room door opened up and a familiar NightWing walked through the door.
Nova had a large smile on his face. She couldn't help it, she had to smile back.
Life right now was almost perfect. She had a dragon that she... loved? She thought unsure.
She has been hung up on this for almost half a year now, the image of Nilas flashing through her head as she tried to not wince.
A very likely ally in the IceWings would make her be extremely popular and will help with the invasion.
Her mother being gone, she didn't even remotely try to hide her smile at that thought.
And... her two sisters who actually seemed to have respect for her now.
After she killed mother and got the crown, her two remaining sisters came up to her and told her everything. After she left with her father, things got bad. Rigel would randomly beat them if they messed anything up at all, especially Nighthawk. Rigel had seemed to go mad, and Nighthawk would ask her if she was alright and would get beaten for it.
It came to a head when Rigel was about to beat Whipper-Will for just asking her a question but Nighthawk stepped in to stop her... Rigel made a spectacle out of her and beat into the ground, even breaking some of her ribs.
After they told her what had been happening, they thanked her for at least avenging Nighthawk. What really hurt though is when they told her that Nighthawk had wanted to apologize for tormenting her...
She shook her head lightly to get the image of her dead sister out of her head.
Nova walked up beside her and gave the side of her head a nuzzle, she wanted to hide the smile but couldn't help it.
"So, what's the plan for today?" he asked as he sat down next to her on the throne next to her. The throne once being reserved for her father.
Battlewinner sighed, "I have a couple letters to send out, and another meeting with the Generals," she answered with a groan as her mind flashed to the letter that she wrote to send Nilas. She wanted to make good on that deal she made with him, writing a message to tell him to meet up with her at the same place they met last time before she flew off to kill her mother.
Nova nodded his head at her response, he started to ramble on about his day...
Battlewinner stood at the head of the war table for the first time in her life, a large map of Pyrrhia with notes scribbled down around it along with pieces in the shape of dragons scattered on top the map.
"Look, if we try to just go straight for the center of the Rainforest, we could fall for the same trap the MudWings did during the War of Disease." Morrowseer said angrily, trying to argue a point against another general.
Another general shook their head, "We should push our surprise attack as much as we can," he protested, "We stand a good chance of taking the Rain Kingdom in one day, so I think we should roll those dice."
Once again, she couldn't pay attention for the life of her. Her mind war racing about the other issues in her life right now.
Nova... and Nilas...
Did she love them?
Who did she love?
They were both so similar to each other, with their kind nature, their honesty... Nova has already show her affection, but Nilas hasn't... he was engaged to Princess Glacier, and why would he ever fall for a NightWing...
"Your highness?" Morrowseer said, trying to get her attention.
Battlewinner lightly shook her head, trying to regain focus. She looked over at Morrowseer with a questioning look.
"What do you think we should do?" Morrowseer asked, "You are the one to make the final call."
Battlewinner glared, not at him but at the table, "We aren't going right for the heart of the Rain Kingdom." she started explaining, "Me and my father found it quite clear that we will have to forge a front and push through the whole Rain Kingdom," Battlewinner said, remembering her expeditions.
"The RainWings have no issue moving their "Kingdom" whenever they please," Star said as she motioned all around that part of the map, "They do it all the time so they can live closer to their food source when different areas of the jungle produce more fruit," Battlewinner finished.
All the generals nodded and started writing stuff down in their scrolls.
"We do want to make sure that we push the most open area of the jungle first," Battlewinner started again, "If we just jump straight into the thickest part first, we will lose before we even knew it," Battlewinner explained, remembering her fight with Nilas and how she never even seen the white dragon sneaking up on her. Imagine if he could turn invisible and blend in perfectly with the environment...
Morrowseer wrote that down in his scroll and looked up, "How big of a force are we going to send?" he asked.
Battlewinner's glare hardened, "We found out that this tribe has almost no true connection with the other tribes, the deepest their connections go are being trade partners," Battlewinner started explaining, "So, we should not face any opposition from other tribes..." she still shook her head at her end thought, "But, the RainWings will be the deadliest tribe that we will ever fight... we have to win it quickly." she rose her head up from the map, "I want every able-bodied warrior to get ready for the invasion, we don't have to worry about defense since no other tribe knows where this island is."
The generals nodded their heads and wrote down their last notes.
Morrowseer nodded his head and handed Glacier his final scroll, "Your mark please, my Queen?"
Battlewinner nodded her head and took the scroll gently, she dipped her right talon into the ink pot next to her and slammed her talon down at the bottom of the scroll.
A growl escaped her maw as she voiced her next thoughts.
"We... are at war."
