Chapter Nine: The Initiate Trial Tournament Phase Four

Star Wars Movie Compilation Part 7

Jedi Temple, Coruscant: 7941 CRC / 36 BBY / 4 Years until PM

As the battle started I knew that I would do decently with my defensive style even if I did not get very many points. I spung swinging my lightsaber down deflecting bolt from one of the remotes as I had to refrain from cringing because of the six screams that other initiates let out. I became a blur of deflection as I spun sending the bolts from the training remotes away from me along with the other initiates blades. I ducked under strikes and twirled my blade to send away any attacks that were coming my way. Everything was a blur as I twisted away from the various attacks while only trying to keep myself safe from harm.

After my bout against Dininni I had already decided to customize my blade into a curved blade or hidden as a blaster eventually but with this mess now I wanted a curved blade before the Clone Wars kick off as it would help with precise deflections when I can fully use my modified defensive lightsaber style one handed. I was in constant motion as I dodged away from anyone who attacked me and kept my lightsaber spinning to deflect the bolts from the training that I could not avoid. My Force fueled defense allowed me enough time to think on the coming inquisition into my actions. Even with Master Dooku telling me that everything will work out I still had a nagging worry in the back of my mind due to my drawback where I am viewed as trouble. It was as I deflected another bolt from the circling remotes that I realized my drawbacks will be with me until near the start of the Clone Wars meaning I would not likely become a Jedi Knight before then and I would be stuck as a Padawan util the war broke out. While considering the future I knew I would need to start on my plans for after the war as soon as possible.

My movements were as fluid as ever as I continued to flash through my defensive style deflecting every attack that came my way, but I was not earning any points as I was not striking out at any of the other Initiates. I continued to swing my blade at an unheard-of speed by an Initiate and yet I had to wonder how long my stamina would last. My blade was an emerald blur as I tried to weather the onslaught of attacks by the remotes that were around the arena, and I completely ignored my fellow Initiates even going so far as to protect them from a few of the bolts from the remotes. After another minute I finally managed to start to bounce the bolts back towards the remotes by mixing in a few Shein strokes into my movements. The remotes fell when they were struck by three of their own bolts, but my protection of the other Initiates was for not as after I saved a human female from being struck in the back she spun around and engaged me throwing me off balance while her former opponent circled around behind me.

I parried the azure blade that came for me and felt a disturbance in the Force as if someone was coming at me from behind, so I sidestepped away and ducked under the blade coming up at angle from behind me. As I moved out of the pincer movement my opponents had tried to trap me in I swung my blade deflecting a bolt from one of the last remaining remotes into one of my attacks causing her to scream. I kept moving to avoid getting struck by either my opponents or the few remaining remotes. As I continued to move and defend I felt another urge in the Force as two attacks were coming at me at once and I had the opportunity to eliminate one of my opponents without getting in trouble.

A quick step to my left allowed the bolt headed towards my back to pass on my right and hit the female on her right hip as I parried her attack while she let out another scream. She stumbled back into a duel between two of the other Initiates and was struck from both sides letting out a third scream and signaling her removal from the free for all. The two Initiates were stunned long enough that I was able to slip around behind one of them protecting them from a bolt from the remote while the other let out a scream for his distraction. My former attacker who was eliminated rolled out of the ring with a scowl on their face while the one who was still in the competition attacked the Initiate who had just been hit by one of the remotes. That left the Rutian Twi'lek I had saved from the remote most recently free from conflict right now.

I knew this Twi'lek in passing as Aayla Secura the soon to be Padawan of Quinlin Vass. The Rutian Twi'lek wasted no time before she jumped into her Ataru attack style forcing me on the defense with her rapid strikes using the Jar'Kai variant of the aggressive form. I fell back into my Soresu defense to persevere my energy as much as possible. My defense was tough, but I was tiring fast as it had been a long day and I had delt with more than a few tough fights. My low energy levels showed when I felt a bolt coming at my back but had to block Aayla's main saber from striking my neck. I grit my teeth as the bolt struck my back allowing me to parry Aayla's off hand blade with a spin of my blade slowing her down momentarily. I quickly side stepped to allow a bolt from the remote to pass me by and force Aayla to dodge back giving me some more breathing room. I could only take two more shots before I was eliminated from the competition something I had little trouble with as I was certain that I had proven myself for the rank of Padawan even if I was not going to simply give up. I deflected a bolt towards the now recovered Twi'lek who was charging at me only to be impressed as she used a Djem So maneuver to send the bolt back towards the remote eliminating it and meaning that we are no longer going to be harassed by the remotes for the rest of the competition. I was forced on the defensive once again as Aayla started to jump around me in her Ataru form. I knew that it was very energy intensive while my style was all about conservation as I protected myself from the random attacks Aayla sent my way.

I kept on defense hoping that Aayla would wear herself out before she shattered my defense. I was distracted by a pair of Wilhelm screams from behind me allowing Aayla to land a hit on my arm. As I refocused on the Force I ducked under a thrown lightsaber coming at my back that Aayla was forced to block and send it back my way as I rolled out of the way from the redirected spinning blade. When I came up out of the combat roll I retook my defensive stance and parried Aayla's main blade. It was at this time that I noticed I was the only one without a blue blade in this free for all round of the lightsaber tournament. There were only three of us left. I was forced to block as both Aayla and the remaining competitor a male Human who I was not familiar with. I knew that I would be eliminated with one more hit and there was nothing I could do to strike out at my opponents as it would both leave me open to the other opponent and I would be seen as too aggressive because of my drawback. I relied on the Force to guide me even as my breathing became heavier and sweat started to run down my face. I knew my body was moving faster than my muscles would have been capable of moving normally but it was still taxing on them even as I used the Force to move my body. Even with a connection and skills that were equal to that of a Jedi Knight I was not sure how long I last against the pair of Initiates that were attacking me.

I just continued to block as quickly as possible it was not something that I could keep up forever. I eventually gave in to the inevitable and engaged in a blade lock with the human opening both of us up to an attack from Aalya Secura. The Rutian Twi'lek did not hesitate in taking advantage of the opening as she struck the Human in the back with her off hand lightsaber and aimed at my arm with her main blade. I knew it was coming and cut off my blade jumping back from the other Initiates barely avoiding the descending blade while the Human let out a scream. My leap back barely let me get my feet under me as Aayla jumped at me using the Force to empower her movements. I was barely conscious of Master Cin Drallig calling the human out as I reignited my blade in time to deflect Aayla's leading blade. I was not sure how many hits that Aayla had taken while I continued to defend from her rapid strikes. I knew that I would likely lose this battle, but I was still going to give it my all in defending from her overwhelming rapid attacks. I guess being a Twi'lek gave Aayla more grace and flexibility than my Morellian heritage which simply extended my lifespan over a normal human. After a few more minutes I shifted my weight and lunged in a classic Makashi strike taking Aalya by surprise and forcing her to leap up and scream as I clipped her ankle but she was not called out for elimination as she struck my back before I could recover from my lunge.

I knew that I was eliminated so I instantly cut off my lightsaber and bowed to Aayla as she stood up and Cin Drallig declared the round over. I turned and bowed to the proctors as they gathered to discuss the outcome of the battle royal. I slowly made my way out of the arena and went back to my bunk room in order to refresh myself in the fresher. Once I was clean I sat on my bed as the rest of my clan were congratulating me on my performance in the free for all round of the tournament. I accepted their words with the grace expected of me as a Jedi while I knew that I would be meeting with the council that was in charge of the Padawan assignments tomorrow for my rash actions during the tournament at least as they saw it. I was not even sure what I should do until then except going back to my normal routine in order to continue on as Jedi since I needed to follow along with them until the Clone Wars breaks out. Once my clanmates stopped congratulating me I settled down to meditate on my bunk as I planned for the future once again even though I knew there was little I could do to change the way things were going yet.
