Chapter 25 – The 1st Life Day Together

Ines was covering the girls, who just got under the covers, getting ready to have a good night sleep.

"Come you, you two need to sleep, cause tomorrow it will be a long day", she smiled kissing the girls forehead.

"I love New Years Eve!" Alli said from her bed.

"Oh really and why is that young lady?"

"Because we can stay way up midnight," Padmé replied, making Alli nod and looked back at their mother, making Ines laughed.

"That's a good reason!" she said. "When I was your age, I also like New Years Eve for the same reason."

"Were you like us, mama?!" Alli asked.

"Yes I was, but there was one thing that you are different than me, and you know what it is?"

The twins shock their heads.

"I never had your beauty!" Ines said kissing the girls cheeks over and over again, making the girls laughed.

"Mama you are very beautiful!" Padmé said when Ines stopped kissing her.

"And that I agree 100%," they heard from behind and saw Luke entered the room.

"I was wondering when you would give us a good night kiss, mister!" Alli said right away pointing the finger at her father.

"Wow, I'm sorry if I took some time young lady, but I'm here now," he said approaching the bed.

"Well I'm going to check your brothers while your father gives you the goodnight kiss you wanted." and Ines left the room, letting Luke pull the covers and kissing the girls forehead.

"Goodnight, sleep well cause tomorrow will be a long day!"

The girls looked at their father.

"We told mama that we love the New Years Eve!" Padmé said right away.

"I know, because you can stay awake until later, right?" Luke winked at the girls who giggled.

"Did you like New Year Eve too, Papa?" Padmé asked.

Luke thought for a while, because he never thought of that, since life in Tatooine was so different, especially for kids like him, unlike every other kid across the galaxy.

"I never thought about that cause you know that life in Papa's planet was a lot different, right?"

Alli nod right away, making Luke laughed cause he knew his daughter was not a big fan of heat and sand.

"Let's back to sleep. Goodnight sweeties."

"Goodnight Papa."

And he left the bedroom, heading to the living room, laying on the lounge couch, staring at the Life Day's Tree, seeing the many colorful lights that kept going on and off, illuminating the room with a lot of different colors.

Ines arrived at the living room and first she saw Spots laying on his new warm bed.

"I guess you don't want to leave it anymore," she giggled, before heading towards Luke. "Babe what are you doing here, I thought you were already in bed but I saw you here. Is everything okay?"

Luke looked up at her and with a smile, he tap the lounge next to him. Smiling back, she lay next to him, while he covered them with the warm blanket.

"Are you still thinking bout that dark feeling you felt this afternoon?"

"No, that feeling was gone hours later. I think it left Coruscant."

"You need to tell Leia and your mother about it."

"I know but just wait until New Years Eve comes and goes. Tomorrow is a day of having fun and celebrate the new year that is coming just around the corner."

"Okay, then why are you here watching the Life Day's tree like you are Lukey!" she giggled.

Luke laughed, indeed their youngest son loved the trees.

"Then what is it?" she asked again.

"The girls just asked me about something that I really never thought about it," he started. "They asked me if I also liked New Year Eve and if I also stayed late when I was kid!"

Ines looked back at him.

"And…"

"Well you know that Life Day in Tatooine was not as much celebrate as in the rest of the galaxy. New Years Eve was different. Of course we didn't have the big tradition that we have here or in Naboo or I bet in Alderaan, but we were just happy that we survived another year in that planet."

Ines thought of what Luke just told, and deep inside she never thought of that before. Now that she new Tatooine a little better, she understands why they felt that way.

"I never thought about that. And it makes sense. But at the same time, kind of sad."

Luke smiled and kissed her forehead.

"I think we celebrated more Boonta's Eve."

"The festivity with the podracing that your father won when he was a kid." Ines said right away.

"That's right. How did you know that?" he asked her.

"The books that Luma and Reed gave to the kids about Naboo, Tatooine, Coruscant and Alderaan are actually very good and the Tatooine one tells that, since he was the first human kid to win a podracing. Ben is loving those books, Even Lukey wants to see the pictures, especially when they show his Papa that is also is in the book!" she winked at him making Luke laugh.

"Yeah, yeah. But you are right. To be honest the first time I really celebrate Life Day with all of this," he said pointing to the tree near them. "Was when we started living here on Coruscant, after we got married."

"It was when you return from Endor again. I was almost 6 months pregnant and you guys return 4 days before Life Day's Eve and I waited until you return so we could put the Tree together for the first time and I remember your face when you saw the tree all decorated. You had the same face of our son every time we out the tree together and then we turn the lights on."

Luke laughed and he remembered that day like it was yesterday.

Flashback:

Coruscant, 4 ABY

Ines looked at Luke.

"Are you ready?" she asked, smiling when he nod. And with a switch the Life Day tree lights illuminate the Tree and the room with its many color lights blinking on and off.

Wrapping her arms around her husbands waist, who wrapped his tightly around her, they both looked at the tree.

"It is so beautiful. It reminds me the Tree we had back in the Palace in Alderaan!"

"Well for me it is the first time I see a Life Day Tree like this and have on I my home," He replied making Ines looked at him right away.

"You never celebrate Life Day when you were a kid back in Tatooine?"

"Well, we didn't have the money to decorate our home like this," he said looking at the living room that was all decorated. "Even if my aunt always made sure to give something the next day, mostly clothes that she sew herself."

Ines pouted because she found sad that not every one were lucky like her and her siblings, but she also knew that being 6 months pregnant her hormones were high.

Luke noticed that and kissed her forehead right away.

"Babe don't need to be sad. I wasn't. I was blessed that at least have a family who loved me. Not every kid can say that. Besides thanks to you, from now on, my Life Day and New Year will be even better, especially when this little boy born and our future kids," he said rubbing her belly, making Ines smile.

Present Day:

"I remember that day. And I'm happy that I share these days with you and I can't believe that 8 years had passed and now we have our kids to celebrate these moments."

"And next year, we will have this little one!" Luke said and leaning down he kiss her belly making Ines smile.

"This is the last one, Master Jedi. I meant it!"

"Okay I got it!" he giggled. "Come on, let's go to bed!" he said and they got up, looking at Spots.

"Where do you want to sleep this time?" Ines asked the Lothal Cat, laughing when he started to follow them to their bedroom.

"I think tonight we are the lucky ones." Luke replied as they entered their bedroom and saw Spots jump to their bed and lay down, leaving the their bedroom door a little opened to allow him to leave the bedroom any time he wants, before jump into bed and pulling his wife into his arms, they slept.

And the last day of the year just begun.
