Episode 2: Primal Predators

"Last time on Total Drama: Shark Island, our campers got up close and personal with all kinds of hungry wildlife in the 'Primal Predators' challenge! The Dolphins snatched another win (and a whole bunch of teeth), while the Orcas lost more than a few fangs—thanks in part to some well-placed sabotage by our resident schemer, Rebbeca. In the end, poor Gino got the boot, leaving the Orcas even more short-handed. Think they can claw their way back? Or will the Dolphins run away with the entire show? Find out right now on Total…Drama…Shark Island!"

Theme Song:

"Hey what's up, I'm here to slay! Don't know why the rest even bother to stay!"

"I know the game and I brought the skill, crushin' player's dreams, yeah, you know the drill!

"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!"

A familiar morning light fell over Shark Island. The palm trees shifted lazily in the breeze, and the waves lapped gently against the shore. At two separate camps, the contestants of Total Drama: Shark Island were just beginning to stir. For the Deep-Depth Dolphins, victory still lingered in the air, while for the Oceanic-Odyssey Orcas, the sting of Paula's recent elimination had them on edge.

Maggie awoke feeling confident. She stretched her arms high, recalling how smoothly the Dolphins had worked together during the first challenge. If we keep up the teamwork, the million is practically ours, she thought with a grin.

Meanwhile, over at the Orcas' camp, Quinn paced back and forth across the sand, vowing under her breath to bounce back from their defeat. A few yards away, Rebbeca fiddled with the straps on her boots, lips curving into a wry smile. She enjoyed the tension hovering among her teammates—it created the perfect atmosphere for cunning plays and sabotage.

Confessional - Quinn

"Already, our team has lost a player. Not that Paula would be any helpful anyway, but we've got to put our heads in the game and get our act together, or else we're not gonna have many useful teammates to win at all!"

Confessional - Rebecca

"It's so fitting to see even my team have problems. Like a bunch of dominoes falling over each other. Now, I gotta think of my next move to see who should go next! Let's see how things pan out"

Chris McLean emerged from the jungle with his trademark swagger, wearing cargo shorts and sporting a wide grin. "Rise and shine, campers! I hope you all got a good night's sleep, because you're about to venture into the real depths of Shark Island!" He gathered everyone in a clearing near the treeline. Two large burlap sacks—one teal, the other navy—lay at his feet. Behind him, the jungle beckoned, its thick foliage hiding countless dangers. Chris clapped his hands.

"Today's challenge is called Primal Predators. This island's jungles are swarming with big cats, crocs, snakes—anything you can imagine that bites. Your job? Collect predator teeth. We've scattered a few helpful tools in crates around the area—gloves, tongs, that kind of stuff. But if you happen to find a fang still attached to a living beast, well… good luck! Each tooth you bring back goes in one of these Tooth Tally Sacks." He kicked the teal bag toward the Dolphins and the navy bag toward the Orcas, adding, "Whoever collects the most teeth by sundown wins immunity. Losers send another player home tonight."

A murmur spread among both teams. Hannah cast a nervous glance at Quinn, while Toby pumped his fists in excitement. Maggie exchanged confident looks with Ken. Rebbeca hid her amusement behind a neutral expression.

Confessional - Toby

"If there's any animals that I love most, it's carnivores! I watch a lot of nature documentaries and always loved seeing one of those big beasts on screen! Even my dad said Grandpa once fought a lion and he was in a Wheelchair! Awesome, right?"

Confessional - Hannah

"Couldn't we get teeth from something that isn't so…Bitey?"

"Dolphins," Chris went on, "you'll take the west path. Orcas, head east. And be sure to stick with at least one teammate. No sense getting stranded alone in a place where you're definitely not at the top of the food chain. Now move it!"

The Deep-Depth Dolphins huddled for a strategy session. Maggie took charge, dividing them into two groups: Ken, Carolyn, Jazzlyn, and Wanda would check the river area, while she led Yuri, Toby, Nessie, and Wilson toward the mountain slope. They fist-bumped and set off, teal sack in hand, determined to keep their winning streak alive.

Meanwhile, the Oceanic-Odyssey Orcas gathered with less camaraderie. Quinn tried to keep things orderly, though Rebbeca's aloofness drew a few glares. Razzy suggested heading for the ancient ruins seen on the island map, confident that a dark, mysterious lair might yield interesting finds. RJ pitched the idea of exploring the cliffs, where predators could lurk in hidden crevices.

After some brief sniping, they split: Quinn, Razzy, Rebbeca, and Hannah took the ruins, leaving RJ, Gino, and Venus to tackle the cliffside. Rebbeca offered no objections, already devising ways to stir trouble. We'll see how much chaos I can brew, she thought, striding after Quinn.

At the west side of the island, Ken led Carolyn, Jazzlyn, and Wanda through a curtain of vines. The rush of river water sounded close by. Jazzlyn, who was mute, pointed toward a spot along the bank where large paw prints dotted the muddy ground. Carolyn knelt to inspect them.

"Fresh," she said. "Probably some big cat." A sinking feeling followed her words, but Ken, always the thrill-seeker, only grinned. "Awesome," he declared. "Let's check the logs along the river, see if we can find any old bones or something."

They fanned out, rummaging with gloved hands. Before long, Ken dug up a small yet intact fang half-buried in the mud. He whooped triumphantly. "Yes! That's one tooth down, guys!"

A low growl answered him from behind a fallen tree. Wanda froze, wide-eyed. A sleek jaguar emerged, pawing the ground. Jazzlyn lifted her hands to signal everyone to stay calm. Carolyn swallowed and whispered, "Back away slowly. Don't provoke it."

Ken carefully tucked the tooth into the teal sack. The jaguar's gaze swept across the group, ears flattened in warning. When Ken tossed a broken branch to the side, it whipped its head in that direction, granting them a brief moment to retreat.

Heart pounding, Carolyn signaled the group to keep moving. They slipped away, the jaguar eyeing them but choosing not to pursue. Once they were out of immediate danger, Wanda let out a shaky breath. "One tooth is enough for now. Let's see if we can find something else a bit… less guarded."

Higher up in the mountains, Maggie and her half of the Dolphins located a cave entrance surrounded by loose rocks and heavy vines. Yuri, all quiet alertness, shined a flashlight inside. She spotted scattered bones near the mouth of the cave.

Toby took the lead, bounding into the darkness with unflagging enthusiasm. Nessie followed, exclaiming over every bone or fragment they found. Wilson hovered near Maggie, nervously darting glances at the shadows.

Confessional - Wilson

"Everything on this island looks like it wants to eat us in our sleep. Oh, why didn't I bring a book on surviving a death trap!" He sighed.

"Relax," Maggie said under her breath. "If we see anything big and toothy, we'll just back off."

Nessie squealed as she picked up an old jaw fragment, still sporting two significant fangs. "Look! That's got to be worth some points!" She beamed, slipping it into the teal sack.

A flutter of wings made them all shriek. Bats poured out of the deeper recesses of the cave, swirling overhead like a living cloud. Wilson panicked and nearly dropped the sack, but Maggie grabbed his arm and guided him out. Yuri tugged Toby toward the cave's entrance, and soon they all burst back into daylight, out of breath.

"Everyone okay?" Maggie asked, looking around. Seeing nods, she relaxed. "At least we got a couple of decent finds. Let's see if we can pick up anything else before meeting the other group."

While the Dolphins pressed deeper into their respective areas, the Orcas trekked east. RJ, Gino, and Venus skirting the cliffs found themselves balancing on narrow ledges overlooking dizzying drops. The sound of crashing waves blended with the call of gulls circling overhead.

"This is nuts," Gino grumbled, gingerly picking his way around a large rock. "Hope we don't just get shoved off the edge."

Venus scribbled a note on her notepad and flashed it at him: Keep an eye out for dens or caves. RJ pointed to a faint trail leading into a small cove. When they investigated, they discovered fresh animal prints—and the half-eaten remains of something. Venus grimaced but leaned in with tongs to collect a bloodstained fang from the scattered bones.

"Ugh, so gross," Gino muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. RJ crouched beside Venus, offering quiet words of encouragement as she slipped the tooth into their navy sack.

They'd barely stepped away when they heard a snarl. A lean mountain lion appeared on a rocky outcrop above them, its eyes gleaming in the sun. RJ froze. Venus held her breath, fists clenched around the sack's handle. Gino turned pale.

We come in peace, kitty, RJ wanted to say, but instead took a slow step backward. The lion hissed, tail lashing, and for a tense moment they seemed certain to be attacked. But perhaps out of disinterest, the cat let them go. They tiptoed away, hearts pounding.

Once they were a safe distance away, RJ exhaled loudly. "We've got a few good teeth… but let's not push our luck. We only need enough to beat the Dolphins."

Meanwhile, Quinn, Razzy, Rebbeca, and Hannah picked through the crumbling remnants of an old ruin. Moss and vines draped over broken pillars, and stone steps led down into a half-buried corridor. A faint odor of damp earth and decaying leaves permeated the air.

Quinn raised a flashlight, eyes scanning the dilapidated hall. "Stay sharp. If something's living here, it might come out swinging."

Razzy, always theatrical, moved carefully, muttering, "Ooh, this place is a marvelous stage for the unexpected." She nearly squealed when she spotted a large jawbone resting on a crumbling altar. "Looks like something we can use!"

Confessional - Razzy

"I find that even in the most intense situations, It's best to keep my composure and taking moments to admire what's in front of us. Anywho, I'm not sure what this could be used for, but you never know!"

Hannah hovered near the doorway, chewing her lip. She squeaked in alarm when a massive python revealed itself in a corner, coiling with lazy menace. Rebbeca, eyes glinting, seemed oddly composed. "Careful," Quinn whispered, shining her light directly at the snake's head. "It might have shed fangs around here. Let's just find them and go."

Razzy snagged a dropped tooth near the python's tail using the tongs, trying not to tremble. Hannah warily took a step back. A moment later, Rebbeca nudged Hannah forward, just enough to startle her. Hannah nearly stumbled into the snake's path, heart racing in fear.

Did Rebbeca just push me? Hannah wondered, but she couldn't summon the courage to accuse her outright. Before the python could lunge, Quinn hurried them both up the steps. Razzy followed, python fang clutched tightly in hand. Rebbeca came last, flashing a brief smirk when no one was watching.

They spilled outside into the warm island air, Hannah glaring at Rebbeca through wide, shaken eyes. Rebbeca only shrugged as if to say, Don't look at me. By late afternoon, both teams converged on the main clearing, their sacks partially filled. Chris was there, leaning against a rough-hewn table. "Time's almost up, campers! Hope you snagged some good chompers."

The Dolphins arrived first, breathless but triumphant as they dumped out a handful of sizable fangs and jaw fragments—eight or nine total, depending on what counted. Maggie double-checked with a confident nod. Yuri and Toby exchanged a small high-five, and Nessie grinned.

The Orcas stumbled in minutes later, looking ragged and tense. Gino set down their navy sack, but when they poured out the contents, Quinn frowned. "Wait," Quinn murmured, rummaging through the pile of assorted teeth. "We're missing something. Weren't there more from the ruins?"

Razzy pursed her lips. "We had a large fang—maybe it fell out along the way?"

Rebbeca feigned ignorance. "Hard to say. Must've slipped through a hole in the sack." She didn't mention the moment earlier when she'd deliberately tossed that precious fang into the bushes.

Confessional - Rebecca

"Oh dear, I wonder how that happened?" She smiled, with a crap-eating grin. "Oh wait!"

Chris stepped forward and began counting the Orcas' spread of teeth in drawn-out fashion: "One… two… three… oh, these look gnarly… four… five… six… seven… eight. Done." He scrawled the final tally on a clipboard, then pointed at the Dolphins' spread: "And you guys have nine. That seals it—Deep-Depth Dolphins, you win again!"

The Dolphins cheered, hugging one another. Toby practically jumped for joy, while Maggie flashed a victorious grin. On the Orcas' side, shoulders slumped. Quinn's hands curled into fists. She looked furious but said nothing, casting a suspicious glance at Rebbeca. Hannah simply rubbed her arm where she'd nearly been pushed into the python's path.

Chris turned to the Orcas, his showman voice brimming with fake sympathy. "A second loss in a row, huh? That means I'll see you at the campfire. Someone's about to swim on out of here. Better start pointing fingers—and placing blame—fast!" Night fell, and the Orcas gathered by the flickering flames of the campfire ceremony. Chris held a tray of marshmallows. One by one, he called out the names of those who were safe:

"RJ, you bring the kind of positivity this team needs."

"Venus, your quiet determination keeps you in."

"Quinn—losing or not, you've got leadership qualities to spare."

"Razzy, the show must go on, so you're safe."

"Hannah—still here, for now."

Two people remained: Gino and Rebbeca. Chris paused for drama, letting the tension build. Finally, he held out the last marshmallow.

"The final marshmallow goes to… Rebbeca."

Gino's expression darkened with dismay. "You've gotta be kidding me. She's the biggest troublemaker on this team." But Chris only shrugged, informing him that his teammates had done the voting. Moments later, Gino marched to the Dock of Shame, boarded a small boat, and vanished into the darkness. Rebbeca watched Gino's departure with cool satisfaction. Another day, another obstacle removed. Hannah tried to catch Quinn's eye, silently urging her to question Rebbeca's motives, but Quinn just glowered at the dying embers in the fire, uncertain whom to trust.

When the camera panned back to Chris, he gestured grandly. "Another one bites the dust, leaving just sixteen contestants to vie for the big million. Will the Orcas ever break their losing streak? Will the Dolphins become unstoppable? And how deep will Rebbeca's sabotage run? Find out next time on Total… Drama… Shark Island!" Overhead, the moon glowed on the water, a single shark's fin slicing through the sea near shore. The image lingered, both a warning and a promise of more danger to come.
