A/N: I wished that I had the next chapter done before the holidays, but I guess you can figure out what happened there. So... in my infinite wisdom I wrote this to tie you over until over until the next chapter is completed. I was going to leave you guys in the dark about this... but memory of a nobody was going to always give this away anyway. So instead of waiting until the Aizen fight why not give you part of the answer to why the word [Instinct] is so important.
Yoruichi walked up a mountain path reaching its summit. Ahead of her was a figure, a woman with short bluish-silver hair, a shattered sky. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at the shattered glass-like blue sky under the light of a full moon. "It has been long enough, Queen… I do hope the time apart was fruitful… even if you don't remember my name, Yoruichi." The figure is still staring at the broken sky.
"Do I know you?" Yoruichi asked in genuine confusion, whoever this woman was, she didn't know her. She stepped closer to the mountain's peak where the other woman stood, Yoruichi's eyes flashing a deep ember as she grew closer to the figure.
"Out of all of the perverse…" The figure scoffed, covered in a black inky substance. "Throwing me away was one thing, shattering my blade to save a soul was another. Those, those were forgivable. I understood saving that boy's life, I knew what would put your heart at ease. But forgetting me, sealing me away, and throwing away the key... that was what I can never forgive." She said producing a Katana from the substance that covered her, a white hilt in a white wooden sheath the same as…
"Is that what I think it is?" Yoruichi spoke looking at her student's Zanpakutō.
The figure chuckled at the other woman's revelation, she knew what she was, and she remembered what Yoruichi did to her, the word perverse was fully understandable with the context of this meeting. "Yes Queen, what you see is what you are thinking…" pointing at the moon that dominated the shattered sky. "I am the Soul of the Slaying Moon, the Symphony of Life."
"What?"
The inky mass smiled as the black shattered of the figure revealing a pale petite ethereal beauty in a yukata the same color as her hair and gold hairband. "You trust that mad scientist way too much to be healthy, Queen. The boy was not spouting nonsense about being drawn to you…" She unsheathed her blade revealing a broken sword. "I doubt he knows the reason why he is drawn to you himself, just like you are to him."
"So you are saying he inherited a Zanpakutō that I don't remember having." Yoruichi looked at the spirit with skepticism. She felt very strange about the whole situation, not only did she not remember ever having a Zanpakutō sure she would have to have had one at one point, but now she was sure that the boy's feelings for her would be partly her fault and teasing him with her body was what broke the dam, to say the least. "And all his talk about instinct was…"
"Yeah…" The spirit began, sheathing her sword. There was a lot for her wielder to unpack so she wasn't as confrontational as her twin. "You two are trying to complete each other using a method that is somewhat in the theme, though I would not judge you on your choice in partners but in this case, I would applaud you for distancing yourself from a man that would think of tearing your soul into pieces to save another, no matter how noble the sacrifice. I would rather not see you or the boy go through such pain again."
Yoruichi examined the information that she was receiving from her so-called Zanpakutō spirit. Apparently, someone she trusted talked her into giving up her Zanpakutō to save that boy in the past, they had gone through something horrific in the process, and now she has no memory of it with her Zanpakutō blaming that person. Her mind wandered to the person, the man she would have trusted with that process, being perfectly fine erasing her memory of it. One name came to the forefront of her mind, and not knowing why a brief feeling of anger took over her. "Are you saying that Kisuke had a part in whatever you and… are?"
"Have you forgotten what he had placed in that Kuchiki brat's soul? Have you forgotten what we are truly capable of? That man may claim to be by your side but that rotten mad scientist only sees those around you as pawns, even though that boy was a victim of his indifference. Why do you think he has one of these?" The spirit produced a hollow's mask. "If we are not careful. If we don't protect what you hold dear. History is just going to repeat itself, is he going to end up like Shiba, is he going to chase your tail like Suì-Fēng, or the more hilarious option will he fall for the same pitfalls as you." The mask faded away as she held out the hand it was in. "Deep in your heart you know the truth behind my words and the mask you wear, speak my name and reclaim what you lost and secure what you had given your soul to protect, Shihouin Yoruichi show me your true form… show me the strength that I once trusted in."
