bopdog111: Now we're onto something that Arc-V neglected in canon.
Ulrich362: True, something that should have definitely gotten more attention... good thing we're here to give it the attention it deserves.
bopdog111: What is that you guys might be wondering?
Ulrich362: Ritual Summoning of course, it had a few people use it but not nearly enough. That said, let's see what happens.
bopdog111: Although, we should explain why these were gone for a while.
Ulrich362: True, we... realized we were overdoing it but decided to slow down with these right bopdog?
bopdog111: Well wouldn't say overdoing it. Just one chapter immediately after the other is hard to manage. But like Ulrich said we're gonna slow down on that so we won't burn out like before.
Ulrich362: Well that's the hope anyway.
bopdog111: I feel confident that after we chat with the problems building that won't happen again. Otherside from the differences on Yuta's Deck in Link, there is also something here on Ritual.
Ulrich362: True, there is something... a few somethings actually.
bopdog111: The most important one is Yuji, and Chie's backstories.
Ulrich362: What are their backstories bopdog?
bopdog111: I imagined them being true to how I explained to them in Ascension of the Dragons. You all can see as we go through this. Ready to begin?
Ulrich362: I sure am, enjoy the chapter.

It was a simple day in Domino City High to where it was free time in school where two buddies are engaged in a game of Duel Monsters, a Trading Card Game that is the norm around this time period long before anyone else from Duel Academy, New Domino City, Heartland City, and even the whole Interdimensional War. It is too where the exploits of a certain someone were known before then but as our narrator described destiny has been altered. How has it been altered exactly?
"Hey Joey... Earth to Joey!" In a classroom were the two buddies are one smiled over toward his opponent. This was Yugi Muto, the future King of Games, having tricolored hair with the Millennium Puzzle around his neck teaching his friend how to play the game. "Hey are you in there? It's your turn."
Who his opponent was is a blonde haired boy named Joey Wheeler, a man who previously been Yugi's bully but after Yugi stood up for him, and his friend, they made up with Yugi as his best friends. Now Yugi is trying to teach him how to play Duel Monsters which is hard but he gets the idea early on. Doesn't make this any easier...
Joey was intensely looking at a hand of cards as a brunette boy with pointed hair walked over and wrapped his arm around Joey's shoulder. "Aw, isn't he cute when he's thinking?"
Annoyed Joey closed his eyes and showed his hand to the brunette boy. "Hey Tristan, Yugi here's teaching me how to play Duel Monsters."
"Drooling Monsters?" Tristan repeated in confusion only for Joey to get annoyed and shove him away.
"Duel Monsters you nimrod." Joey clarified.
"Sheesh..."
A brown haired girl named Tea Gardner beside him smiled back towards the game deciding to highlight Tristan. "They've been at it for hours. Joey's starting to get the hang of the game, But Yugi's, like, an expert."
"Yeah ain't he?" voiced over a blue haired boy beside her having green eyes. This is Yuji Narukami, a young man, that had been founded, and taken in by Joey's family not as brothers. Last thing of his family is his last name which he wants to keep. Yuji had been founded by one of Joey's little sisters, and after caring for him they tried giving him back but no family said they are related, and eventually there mother decided to takes him in to raise as her own. He goes to school here after asking permission which she allows as long as he stays with a friend he trusts which is Yugi as she doesn't trust her ex-husband, and doesn't know how Joey is doing.
"Oh, Yugi. It's time to duel!" Joey placed down a monster card that's in Attack Position with 800 ATK.
"For you see Tristan, every monster has Attack Points, and Defense Points. Whoever brings down there opponent's Life Points to zero wins."
While Yuji voiced this over Joey grinned over towards Yugi. "Pretty cool huh Yugi?"
"Yup." Yugi smiled with his eyes closed and a smile as he put down a Dragon Monster in Attack Position with 1500 ATK.. "Pretty cool move, but not good enough."
"What!?" Joey cried in shock staring at the monster. "Thanks a lot, a card that powerful totally wipes me out."
Nearby was a student who was focusing on reading a book but couldn't help but listening in. This is Seto Kaiba, a large corporate CEO of Kaibacorp one of largest companies ever known, and is also a Duel Monsters player of his own right but he has a different philosophy then that of Yugi, and the others. So he unintentionally eavesdrop over to them.
"Whoa, you stink at this game Joey."
"Nah, you did fine Joey. I just have better cards. See, my Grandpa owns a game shop, and me, and Yuji get our best cards from him."
"Yeah, any card that we need we get it from him... with a small fee of course."
Joey stood up excitedly. "Your own game shop!? What are we waiting for? Let's go!"
"Ok. Maybe I can even get my Grandpa to show us this super-rare card he's got."
That caught Kaiba's attention looking interested over this rare card. There are certain cards that he owns, and he wants to find the last one so that it wouldn't get in his way. Could that be the card he has in mind? 'Rare card...? Could they have found the card that I've been searching for?'
After School Yugi, Yuji, and their friends all went to a small game shop where an old man with a yellow bandanna was behind the counter.
"Grandpa, we're home!" Yugi called walking into the shop.
"I see you've brought company." Yugi and Yuji's grandfather chuckled seeing the group.
"Gramps could you show our friends your awesome super rare card?" Yugi requested.
"We kind of mentioned it to them while Yugi was beating Joey badly at Duel Monsters." Yuji added causing said blonde boy to pout.
"Hey, I didn't do that badly... I only lost a few times." Joey defended himself as the others all laughed.
"Oh the rare card? My special card?" there Grandfather looked deep in thought almost pretending to think what to answer over while both Yugi, and Joey begged over towards him.
"Please please?"
"Pretty please?"
Even with the begging though there wasn't any need to worry cause his Grandfather laughed fondly. "How could I refuse?" He moved down taking out a small stone box. "You kids are in for a treat. I don't take this card out too often." Opening it he takes the card with a grin. "Ready? Here it is." He raised it revealing to everyone the card which is a dragon monster known as the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, one of four really rare cards that are a priceless set among them. In Duel Monsters you can include up to 3 copies of the same card so having a forth Blue-Eyes wouldn't really benefit anyone who has it, it'll just be a collectable at the time. "The Blue-Eyes White Dragon, so rare, so powerful, I never let it leave my hands."
While everyone was in awe over it one person doesn't think so. Despite Solomon's earlier statement, Tristan takes the card from his fingers raising an eyebrow skeptical while everyone deadpanned to him while Solomon looked stunned from the young man's honesty. "Doesn't look all that special to me." Of course, that's cause he doesn't really know the card as much as Yugi, Yuji, and Solomon cause Normal Monsters aren't really all that special but most times rarity is what matters in cards like the Blue-Eyes or who knows who uses them.
Grabbing the card back Solomon, Yugi's grandfather, held it close to his chest turning away from Tristan. "Ahhh, this card is priceless! There are only four of them in all the world."
"Speaking of priceless I'm ready to trade." Joey grinned leaning towards the counter.
"Not for this card." Solomon mentioned defensively moving away from him as Joey blinked.
"Huh? Oh no I didn't mean that card." Joey clarified with a sweat drop on his forehead.
He checks over the casing displayed over. "I meant show me some other cool cards to get me started."
"Well Joey perhaps we can start by..."
Before Yuji can go professional the door opened which the turned over towards them while Solomon voiced over to the new arrival. "Hello. Can I help you?"
"If you can't, it certainly wouldn't surprise me."
Widening their eyes checking to see at the doorway was Kaiba himself holding a large silver briefcase.
"Seto Kaiba." Yugi whispered in awe seeing him.
"Kaiba?" Joey questioned as Tristan stared at him.
"Doesn't he have a big fancy company to run, what's he doing down here?" he inquired curiously.
"Not that it's any of your business, but I came to see the card." Kaiba answered with a smirk.
Hearing that Joey walked up to him with a smile. "Hey are you into Duel Monsters too? This is perfect maybe we could all duel together sometime."
"Me duel you?" Kaiba repeated walking up to Joey. "I would have more of a challenge playing Solitaire."
"What?"
Flashing a confident smirk in his direction Kaiba merely stated over towards him. "I am the number one ranked duelist in the country, and the favorite to win the Duel Monsters Championship." He then scoffed turning away. "You wouldn't last two minutes in a duel against me."
Feeling insulted Joey raised up a fist with a threat in mind. "Oooo, I'm shakin'... maybe you'd like to settle this with fists instead of cards?"
"Whoa!" To stop punches being thrown and getting everyone in huge trouble from this Yugi went to stop Joey from throwing any punches. "Take it easy Joey!"
"But Yugi, Kaiba's asking for it." Joey pointed out as Kaiba smirked opening his eyes.
"Now does this shop have any worthwhile cards or not?" he questioned only for his eyes to widen in shock seeing the Blue-Eyes White Dragon as he shoved past Yugi and Joey to approach the counter. "Can it be, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon in a dump like this!?"
Shocked he stared at the card in disbelief.
'It is, the card I've been searching for.'
"Well enough window shopping." Solomon closed the card pulling it away going to his professional tone which snapped Kaiba out of his shocked state blinking. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
Kaiba growled from this before raising the suitcase slamming it down in front of Solomon who let out a cry startled. The young CEO opened the case turning to Solomon who's eyes widen in awe seeing the contents. "Listen to me, old man. Give me your Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, and I'll trade you all of these."
Curiously everyone looked to see what was in the briefcase were powerful, and rare cards. Among them are powerful spells such as Graceful Charity, Card Destruction, Monster Recovery, really useful traps such as Counter Gate, Mirror Force, and Magic Cylinder along with powerful monsters such as Fusion, and Ritual Monsters but it contains more Ritual Monsters. Everyone looked amazed from seeing all the cards Kaiba is offering, and they assume anyone would be a fool to refuse.
"Ah nice... but no thanks."
But Solomon is not that type of anyone, he straight up refuses the trade offer which stunned Tea, Joey, and Tristan while Yugi, and Yuji knew the type of thing Solomon is about. Kaiba himself doesn't look phased but really annoyed the offer was refused so he tries a different approach. "Fine. If you won't trade, maybe you'll sell it. Name your price, I can pay anything you ask."
"I'm sure you could," While Solomon does believe Kaiba is a man of his word that he can he pay any price he names he doesn't take the offer again instead deciding to inform Kaiba the importance of the Blue-Eyes he has. "but this card is worth more to me than you could ever offer. Not because of it's power, or because it's so rare, but because of what it means to me." Kaiba does look confused so Solomon held up the stone box while the card to elaborate. "This card was given to me by a dear friend, and so I treasure this card as I do that friend," Looking up towards Kaiba he tells him his mind. "so parting with it is completely out of the question."
Yuji couldn't help but smile from this decision. He had been staying with the Mutos for a while, and while being initially taught by a the same sister who helped him back then using his imagination as his strength in Duel Monsters it was the Mutos to teach him that every card has a use, and a special kind of thing to do, everything has a part even cards people don't seem to expect. While Solomon's Blue-Eyes isn't really a card he uses in duels he treasures the card like a special item, and not because how rare it is. He treasures his own cards almost as much as Solomon's but is pleased from his guidance in dueling.
But unlike him Kaiba wasn't in pleased at the very least stunned, and enraged at being denied. 'No!'
"You'd feel the same even if it was a common card right grandpa?" Yugi asked with his own smile.
"Exactly." Solomon smiled. "You see this precious card has bonded with my heart."
Glaring at him Kaiba slammed his briefcase shut. "Fine, I've heard enough of your nonsense!"
Turning he stormed out of the shop. "Senile old fool."
As he left he got in a limousine that was waiting for him. 'Heart of the cards, ridiculous. These cards are all about power, and one way or another his Blue-Eyes White Dragon card will be mine!'
Yuji looks worried seeing how angry Kaiba is looking from this. He doesn't know much about the young CEO but hears rumors, and such about him taking Duel Monsters to a new level through Kaibacorp's state of the art technology but he heard before Kaibacorp is a military campaign company not the Game Company it is now. There are so many stories but so few answers towards this mysterious guy so he wasn't sure what to think a bit worried over this.
"Yuji? Hey Yuji?" feeling a shake on his shoulder he turned seeing Yugi was shaking his shoulder with everyone looking concerned for him. "Is everything alright."
"Huh? Oh..." he flashed a short smile towards them. "Oh, it's nothing just me being worrysome again."
"I wouldn't worry, he's probably just jealous Yuge's gramps has such a cool card and a great reason to keep it." Joey reassured him before grinning. "Now, let's see what other awesome cards I can trade for."
"Feel free to look around." Solomon smiled warmly.
Yuji smiled from this but still feels worried from the back of his mind. He just decides to not worry shrugging getting to work over.
"Gentleman, there's a little something I'd like you to pick up for me at the Game Shop."
"Gladly, Master Kaiba."
The next day...
It was a quiet day after that little scuffle where Solomon is wiping the counter off to be ready for another day of Game Shop duty since his Grandsons, and there friends will be here soon in a few hours before he heard the door slammed opened. "Good morning." Turning over his eyes narrowed seeing suited agents lead by a glasses balding man entering.
"My master Seto Kaiba challenges you to a duel. You will come with us now."
Solomon looked stern over towards the crowd. "And if I were... to decline?"
A glint went over the man's glasses. "I'm afraid I must... insist." The two agents readied themselves to drag Solomon out if needed.
'Young Kaiba doesn't understand, but I'll teach him a lesson about the Heart of the Cards.' Solomon thought as he went with the three suited agents.
Later that day, Joey, Yugi, Tristan, Tea, and Yuji were walking to the game shop.
"Man I hope he has some cool cards today." Joey admitted grinning.
YYuji couldn't help but have a bad feeling all day, and can feel something bad is gonna happen sometime today. Kaiba wasn't at school today, and that was a bad sign after what had happened yesterday. He just hopes it's nothing but nerves.
Arriving at the Game Shop they entered in.
"Oh, Gramps! I'm back to get more cards! Hey, hey Gramps!"
Blinking they looked around seeing that despite the shop being unlocked Solomon is not in the building which makes Yuji's anxiety worsened.
"Grandpa, we're home!"
"Maybe he went out?"
"Maybe, but why would he leave the door unlocked?" Why indeed is the question. This is bad that it's making Yuji fidget a bit nervous. Suddenly the phone started ringing which Yugi walks over, and takes the phone taking a breath to calm down, and answered. "Hello, Game Shop?"
"Ah, Yugi perfect."
"Kaiba!?" Yugi recognizes that voice anywhere surprised Kaiba is calling the Game Shop.
"Your Grandfather's here visiting, but he's not feeling well. Why don't you, and Yuji come by my office and pick him up?" Kaiba's voice on the phone having a smirk in his tone.
"Kaiba, what have you done to Grandpa! If he's hurt, I'll-" he stopped when he hears Kaiba hanged up. "He hanged up on me!" He places the phone back.
uji grunted over before he punched the wall. "Damn it!"
"What did that creep do to your gramps?" Joey questioned clenching his fists. "I know I should have knocked his block off back there."
"Come on, we need to make sure Mr. Muto is ok." Tea pointed out to the group.
"I KNEW it! I KNEW something bad was gonna happen, and something still happened!" Yuji was beyond frustrated that he let his instincts passed by instead of doing anything. Turning over to the group he stated over with a serious look. "Let's go, Kaiba has him at Kaibacorp for something!"
Nodding the group ran out of the game shop before arriving at a large building as they ran inside and into an elevator as Yugi looked really nervous while Yuji was clenching his fists angrily as he stared at the floors going by before eventually they reached the top floor as they ran out only to see Solomon on the ground looking injured.
They gasped as both Yuji, and Yugi ran over to him. "Grandpa!"
They've knelled down worried for him as Solomon slowly looked up seeing them. "Yugi, Yuji... I've failed."
"Mr. Muto, don't talk save your strength."
Despite Yuji's worried words, Solomon kept talking to explain what had happened. "I wanted to teach that boy Kaiba a lesson about the Heart of the Cards, but I lost." He groaned collapsing down while both his Grandson, and his roommate care for him.
"How's the old man feeling hmm?"
Hearing the voice they all snapped over seeing Kaiba himself smirking at a doorway leading to a room that's brightened up behind him.
Clenching his fist Joey wasted no time demanding for answers. "Kaiba! Your sleaze, what have you done with him!?"
"We've have a duel that's all." Kaiba looked calm with a smirk despite the tension the arrivals are bringing not the least bit intimidated by this bunch. "With each of us putting up our most valuable card as the prize, but I guess playing against a champion like myself was just too much stimulation for the old fool." He shrugged over with closed eyes smirking.
"How dare you...!" Yuji looks enraged from Kaiba insulting Solomon like that. First beating him a duel, and then insulting his skill like that is really infuriating to him.
"Kaiba, you should be ashamed of yourself!"
Kaiba didn't mind both Yuji, and Tea calling him out. "It was fair." He then presented Solomon's Blue-Eyes in his hand. "And look at the sweet prize I won." Then to the shock of everyone he torn the card in half in front of them.
Everyone looked horrified seeing that.
"Grandpa's most treasured card!" Yugi cried seeing that.
"Yes, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a rare and powerful card." Kaiba agreed throwing the two halves away. "And this one, will never be used against me."
"Ahh... my Blue-Eyes White Dragon." Solomon groaned reaching for it. "My treasure..."
He suddenly groaned in pain causing Yugi's eyes to widen. "Grandpa!"
With frustrated tears Yuji turned to Kaiba. "You've gone too far Kaiba! How could you do such a thing!? Mr. Muto told you how much it means to him, and you just went done that!?"
"A duelist can only hold 3 of the same cards in dueling. So a forth Blue-Eyes will become an enemy against me. So I gotten rid of a threat before it can spawn against me."
"That's still no excuse to tear a card in half!" Yuji still looks enraged for the selfish reason why Kaiba destroyed Solomon's memento. "That's the plural reason you destroyed an important treasure he has!?"
"If you want to blow off some steam do it in the arena."
Clearly Kaiba was asking Yugi, and Yuji to duel him next if they feel like teaching Kaiba another lesson Solomon failed to bring out before. He wants to reveal to crush Solomon's grandson and student next, and teach them Duel Monsters is all about power, and dominating your weak opponents not this weak 'Heart of the Cards' business.
"Yugi here... take this..." Solomon said weakly as Yugi saw he was handing over his deck.
"Huh, grandpa..." Yugi started uncertainty looking at him.
"I built this deck, I put my soul in these cards." Solomon told him. "And I taught you everything I know Yugi. Take them, take my cards and teach him respect. Teach Kaiba respect for the heart of the cards Yugi."
"But grandpa, you need help." Yugi argued seeing how badly hurt he looked. "I've got to get you to a doctor."
"Sounds like an excuse." They looked over seeing Kaiba stepped forward with a smirk. "Your friends can care for your Grandfather, while you and I duel, unless you're afraid." Yugi looked towards him with frustrated tears.
"Take him, Yugi!"
Hearing that Yugi turns over towards Tea, Tristan, and Joey who looked ready to help him out.
"We can take care of your Grandpa, while you take care of creepy Kaiba! Teach that rich spoiled brat what a real duel's all about!"
"For your Grandpa, Yugi!"
"I don't know..." Yugi trailed off admitting he isn't sure if he can handle someone of Kaiba's skill when Solomon couldn't.
"Trust me." Joey does believe he can himself. "You're like, the best player I've ever seen, and you've got the Millennium Puzzle! You can do this, Yugi. I know you can!"
"We all do!" Tea agreed over nodding also believing in him. Yugi feeling touched from this nodding over now feeling confident he can take someone of Kaiba's skill.
So he turned back over accepting the Deck. "Okay, Grandpa, I'll do it."
"I know you will, my boy." Solomon gave a short smile to his direction.
"And me too." Yuji voiced over which they turned over. "He'd hurt Mr. Muto, Yugi, there's no way, I'll letting you do this alone. I knew something would happen but I didn't do anything so I want to correct it."
Yugi stares over before smiling nodding before Tea raised a marker. "Everyone, put your hands together, and I'll mark us a special sign."
Confused they all put their hands together as Tea drew what looked like a smiling face on their hands.
"What gives Tea?" Joey asked looking at his hand.
"It's a symbol of our friendship." Tea explained holding up her marked hand. "So when Yugi and Yuji are dueling, no matter how tough it gets they'll know that they're not alone. We're all right there with them."
They both nodded with smiles before turning back to Kaiba as Tea, Tristan, and Joey ran out with Soloman to take him to the hospital. Kaiba merely smirked over. "Well two worms to crush at once. Sounds very tempting... however, seeing as how the old man is trusting his Deck onto you, Yugi, I'll handle you myself." Turning over to Yuji he smirked. "And for your case, I have a special opponent in mind."
"What kind of special opponent?"
Rather then answering Kaiba snapped his fingers. "Roland?"
"Mr. Kaiba?" inquired a man in a suit as he walked up to them.
"Take Yuji here to Dueling Field 287. I have a feeling he is the type of opponent Alvis needs." Kaiba instructed him with a smirk.
"Understood." the suited man nodded turning to Yuji. "Please come with me."
Yuji glared at Kaiba before turning over to Yugi. "Yugi listen." Said boy turned over. "Teach Kaiba what it means to respect Duel Monsters. Power isn't everything, and that your imagination is your strength."
"Yeah." Yugi nodded.
With that both people walked off in different directions. Kaiba to handle Yugi in his own test while Yuji is pitted against whoever this 'Alvis' is. Arriving to a field he looks around seeing he's in a virtual dueling field while Roland closes the door behind him.
"Huh? Hey what's going on?" Yuji looked back at the door on guard.
"What's going on is your my new opponent." a male voice broke out.
Shocked Yuji looked around to see who was there. The virtual room glowed before someone started to appear in data in front of him eventually forming as he opened his eyes revealing himself as a man with tan skin, shoulder-length silver hair, and silver eyes. His outfit shows itself as a plan shite suit with four black buttons holding it together with the same pants along with having black vertical lines trailing down both sides of his legs, and having on blue shoes with white shoe laces.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Yuji questioned seeing him.
The man bowed introducing himself, "I am Alvis, the AI of the Kaibacorp Mainframe at your service." That surprised Yuji from hearing this. Kaibacorp has a sentient AI? He didn't see this coming, I mean, Kaibacorp does have state of the art technology but not to the extent to what he is seeing in front of him. From the looks of things he can assume this will be a tough match from how this is looking.
"I trust you're familiar with the rules?" Alvis inquired politely. "You can go first."
Yuji grunted over from this. "Okay then I'll take you on!" Hearing a familiar roar in his mind he smiled. 'I know bud, we will take him together.' As he thought this Alvis raised his arm where a blue futuristic Duel Disk that has a black body with white accents materialized on his arm. "Wait huh? What is that?"
"A small project Mr. Kaiba is working with. The Duel Disk." Alvis explained over towards him. "There isn't one for you but there is an alternative." A small table rose up in front of Yuji showing Zones around. "Ready yourself for a duel you never seen before."
Despite this suddenness Yuji grunted not allowing himself to be intimidated placing his Deck on the Deck Zone, and picked up 5 cards readying the match.
"DUEL!"
(Dueling Theme: My Funeral by Dope)
Yuji: 4000
Hand: 5
Field: Nothing
Alvis: 4000
Hand: 5
Field: Nothing
Let the duel commence!
"So who's first?" Yuji asked over at Alvis.
"As I said, you can have the first turn." Alvis repeated calmly looking at his hand.
Yuji 1st Turn:
"Okay then my move first!" Yuji looks over at his hand viewing over his options. Soon deciding his choice he takes a card in his hand. "Alright, I'll start off by activating the spell known as Reasoning!" A spell showing an Egyptian attire man with a turban on with cards around with one glowing was shown.
Reasoning
Normal Spell Card
Your opponent declares a monster Level. Excavate cards from the top of your Deck until you excavate a monster that can be Normal Summoned/Set. If that monster is the same Level as the one declared by your opponent, send all excavated cards to the Graveyard. If not, Special Summon the excavated monster, also send the remaining cards to the Graveyard.
"So now declare a Monster Level!" Yuji said to his opponent pointing at him.
"Alright, I'll call level 5." Alvis mentioned calmly.
"Then I flip the top cards of my Deck until I get a monster that can be Normal Summoned. And if that monster is the same level as the level you declare, I must send that card, and the excavated cards to the graveyard. But if it's not then I can summon it, and send all of the excavated cards to the graveyard." Placing a hand on his Deck he is ready. "First card!" He flips it over showing a trap. "Stars Align across the Milky Way." Sending the trap he continues off. "Second card!" Flipping it shows a Ritual Monster. "Revendread Slayer." Placing the monster in the graveyard he continued. "Third card!" Flipping it shows another spell card. "Book of Life." He sent it, and readied again. "Forth card!" He flips, and grins over. "Vendread Revenants, Level 4!"
"Then you're allowed to summon your monsters to the field." Alvis noted.
"Indeed! So come on our Vendread Revenants!"
Smacking the card on the board what rose was looks like zombies that seemed to be mutated at spots growing a bit.
(Attack Position)
Vendread Revenants
DARK

If this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your GY: You can Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. A "Vendread" monster Ritual Summoned using this card on the field gains this effect. You can only use the preceding effect of "Vendread Revenants" once per turn.
● Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; banish it.
Alvis watched calmly. "Vendread monsters have special abilities when tributed for a Ritual Summon if memory serves."
"Whoa huh... monsters?" Yuji is quite surprised from this seeing Revenants is on his field like this.
"It's Kaiba's state of the art technology. It brings more life to Duel Monsters by making them holographic."
Yuji grunted over from this. "So this is how he beat Grandpa... It's still my move however! By summoning a buddy of Revenants! It starts by activating the Continuous Spell, Vendread Nightmare!"
A spell showing a powerful monster fighting against a creature with a female zombified like being watching.
(face-up)
Vendread Nightmare
Continuous Spell Card
Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 or more "Vendread" monsters from your hand and/or field, then target 1 face-up monster you control; increase its Level by the number of monsters Tributed, until the end of this turn. When your attacking "Vendread" Ritual Monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can have your monster gain 1000 ATK. You can only use this effect of "Vendread Nightmare" once per turn.
"And I use it's effect!" Yuji shows a monster card in his hand placing it down. "By Tributing number of Vendreads from my hand or field, Revenants gains a level equal to how many!"
Revenants glowed from the Level boost. (LV: 4 + 1 = 5)
"Next I'll summon a friend to join him!" Yuji places another monster card on his board. "Vendread Core!" What emerged beside Revenants was a blue glowing orb almost like heart with a mutilated zombie spirit on it rose up in Defense.

"Lastly, I use the spell, Revendread Origin!" Yuji reveals a Ritual Spell of his specialty showing a spell of a monster transforming with a locket of him, and a woman on it.
Revendread Origin

This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Vendread" Ritual Monster from your hand or GY. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field, and/or banish Zombie monsters from your GY, whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. If "Revendread Slayer(s)" you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead.
"Thanks to this by sacrificing monsters or banishing Zombies from the graveyard, I can summon a Vendread Ritual Monster!" Yuji explained over before then grinning. "And in case you are wondering, it doesn't stop my hand, I can also reanimate those same monsters from the Graveyard!"
"A useful spell." Alvis nodded seeing that.
"So I'll sacrifice Revenants, and Core!"
The two vanished as Yuji brought a card from his graveyard.
"Tragic Hero of the Infected! Rise up, and use your power to honor those who pass on! Carry their souls for salvation! Ritual Summon! Level 6, Revendread Slayer!"
At that what rose from the ground was a humanoid. He has orange skin having on black armor with gloves at the middle of his arms close to his shoulders, boots that stop near his thighs, and feet, a spike at the end of his feet curved up to the sky, two black bands at his upper legs each, having on orange armor with bone like blades at his arms a long orange scarf around his neck a black head where his mouth, and nose aren't visible, purple flaming eyebrows, black eyes with red irises, iron spikes on his shoulders, and four spider bone like legs from his back that has a spike at each end glaring at Alvis's field.

"A very impressive start." Alvis mentioned calmly. "Revendread Slayer is quite the useful monster especially with the extra abilities it has from Revenants and Core."
"Yeah, and even if my hand is empty he's more then enough right now." Yuji finds himself in a good position cause otherside from one of his ace monsters already hitting the field, it's also has lots of protection thanks to Core, and Revenants giving it's powers onto it with also some protection already lurking in the graveyard, and that he doesn't go down easily. Even if it does goes down, it doesn't go down without a fight. "Alright your turn now, bud."

Alvis 1st Turn:
Alvis calmly drew his card. "An impressive start but not impressive enough. As Seto Kaiba likely already explained Duel Monsters is all about power and this card embodies that quite well. I activate Meteonis Drytron."
Meteonis Drytron

This card can be used to Ritual Summon any Ritual Monster from your hand or GY. You can only use this effect of "Meteonis Drytron" once per turn.
"I'll use this spell to send Drytron Beta Rastaban and Drytron Gamma Eltannin to my graveyard in order to Ritual Summon Drytron Meteonis Draconids in attack position."
"Huh?" Yuji blinked seeing two machines Tributed while a constellation altar rose rose behind Alvis glowing.
"God Star of the Draco Constellation. Forge the contract from the cosmos, and take the souls of these star servants to be reborn. Ritual Summon! Emerge from the stars, Level 12. Drytron Meteonis Draconids."
From that what rose up was a golden, and sky blue armored monster which has four arms with the upper arms having blue crystal like blades attached to their arms, and on their lower arms having gold, and blue oriented shields with large wings that has blue crystals shaped as blades on the edges with blasters attached to them with stars on them as an energy power source, and having a blue crystal like head roaring up.

During your opponent's turn (Quick Effect): You can banish monsters from your GY whose combined ATK equals exactly 2000 or 4000, then target 1 face-up card your opponent controls for every 2000 ATK of the total; send that card(s) to the GY. You can only use this effect of "Drytron Meteonis Draconids" once per turn.
"Whoa what 4000 attack points?" Yuji looks stunned from this kind of thing. Deciding to take care of it now he called over. "Sorry but I'm afraid I'll pop it out! I activate the effect Revenants gave to Slayer!" Slayer's bone spider arms crackled in electricity. "It banishes a Special Summoned monster in play!" Slayer charged a blast firing it towards Draconids who build a star barrier blocking the sparkles of electricity surprising him. "What?" The blast faded while the electricity faded from Slayer's arms who also seemed surprised the effect failed.
"Normally a very smart move, however you aren't allowed to target Drytron Meteonis Draconids with Monster abilities." Alvis explained only for Yuji to notice something, the monsters in his graveyard were both level one and his Ritual Monster was level 12.
Noticing this he calls out to Alvis. "Well how about explaining how you were able to summon it! Both your monsters are level 1 each there not enough to summon something like that!" He points over at the large Ritual Monster. "It's common practice that monsters that are equal or higher level then what you intend to summon be sacrificed!"
"Normally true, however the Ritual Spell Meteonis Drytron allows me to tribute monsters who's attack points are equal or greater than the monster I summon." Alvis explained calmly. "And since both my monsters had 2000 attack points my Ritual Summon is allowed. Of course speaking of my Ritual Spell by lowering the Attack Points of Draconids by 1000 until the end of your turn I can return my Ritual Spell to my hand."
Drytron Meteonis Draconids: (ATK: 4000 - 1000 = 3000)
"Now, attack Revendread Slayer."
Draconids charged a blast as Slayer readied itself before jumping up just as Draconids fired a large blast engulfing Slayer who is intending to brave past the blast with as much force as it can despite it being slightly weakened due to Alvis retrieving the spell making it weaker. Of course, Alvis does notice that Slayer isn't getting destroyed even against the overwhelming blast of his monster.
"Strange, why isn't your monster destroyed by my attack?" Alvis inquired curiously seeing that.
"Cause of this!" Alvis turned over seeing Revendread Origin is on Yuji's field despite it being in the graveyard previously while Yuji had a grin with a closed eye. "By banishing Origin from the graveyard Slayer isn't destroyed!"
Slayer braved the blast before shooting forward slashing the side of Draconids' head with it's elbow blade making it cancel the blast, and turned it's head while Slayer did a backflip back to Yuji's field looking slightly injured with 3 degree burns over it's body that looks to be regenerating while Draconids looks slightly annoyed from the attack it done to cancel it's attack. Of course even if Slayer isn't destroyed, the damage still applies. (Yuji: 3400/Hand: 0)
"You want to take me out try harder!" Yuji grinned over to him.
"Well, if you insist." Alvis noted calmly placing down a card. "I will try harder but for now I'll simply set one card and end my turn."

Yuji 2nd Turn:
"My turn now! Draw!" Okay some thoughts, and time to strategize. This monster with 3000 ATK (4000 at the end of his turn) will be too much for him to handle if he doesn't get rid of it now. He needs to have some ideas to figure how to get rid of it before it lingers too long on the field. Luckily the solution came in his draw by a roar. 'Huh? Oh you?' He had a fond smile looking at his drawn card seeing it's a Dragon known only as Forgotten Soul Ritual Dragon, a card he had since he was just a child. He doesn't know why he has the card but it's what is his most valuable treasure probably one of the most rarest. If he's honest, he feels like the card is a part of his heart that he wouldn't trade for anything. He always fights with the card, and wouldn't think otherwise there both a team.
Seeing his expression Alvis blinked and folded his arms. "Did you draw a powerful card, something that you believe can turn this duel around?"
Yuji grinned over towards him. "Something better! First let's get some help over! Alright, I use Vendread Core's effect in the graveyard!" He pockets a card, and shows Core's card. "By banishing a Zombie from the graveyard, I can summon Core back from the graveyard under the condition it's banished when it leaves the field!" So by banishing Revenants, he summons Core back right beside Slayer.
Vendread Core: (Defense Position/Banished when leaves the field)
Alvis wonders what kind of card it is Yuji has. From the sound of things probably a monster that is capable of turning things around, and probably figures to get rid of the resources before Yuji has a chance to use it so he can be left open for an attack at the end of the turn.
"I'm not sure what you're planning but unfortunately it won't work. I play Drytron Meteonis Draconid's ability!" Alvis told Yuji calmly as Draconids started to glow.. "By banishing monsters from my graveyard who's total attack is 2000 or 4000 I can force you to send cards you control to the graveyard for every 2000 points so I'll banish my two Drytron monsters to have you send your two monsters to the graveyard."
Yuji blinked as Draconids fired a beam towards the monsters which removed Core from the field banished from it's effect however Slayer is resisting the effect itself before jumping where Vendread Nightmare got sent in it's place.
Alvis frowned seeing that realizing his overconfidence led to a mistake. "So your Ritual Monster survives, but you only have one card in your hand and unless it can be summoned with one sacrifice and has over 4000 attack points it won't help you."
"Unless that monster is able to turn the tides." Despite this setback Yuji still looks confident. "Next I use Anima's effect from the graveyard!" Alvis blinked from this where from the graveyard portal emerged a small girl missing a waist, having long purple hair with a bladed wing as a right arm appeared looking dead. "By banishing her from the graveyard, she summons Revenants from banishment!"
At that Revenants rose once more from Anima's spell before she vanished.
Vendread Revanants: (Defense Position)
"That still doesn't help you." Alvis pointed out.
"Maybe but... this is what I need!" Yuji held up his drawn card with a grin raising it up as it glowed. "Now get ready for something new, something grand!" He raised the card up with his grin. "I activate Forgotten Soul Ritual Dragon's ability in my hand!"
Surprised from what he heard Alvis only asked. "Forgotten what?" Forgotten Soul Ritual Dragon? He never heard that card name before, and Kaiba gave him enough knowledge to know every card in the game. To think of there is a card he never heard of like this!
"By sacrificing monsters on my field or hand I can Ritual Summon this card without the need of a Ritual Spell!" Yuji proclaimed over to his opponent.
"Ritual Summoning without a Ritual Spell?" Alvis questioned in shock. 'What kind of card is this? I've never heard of a summon like that!'
"I sacrifice Slayer, and Revenants to use this card!" Both Slayer, and Revenants were Tributed entering the graveyard portal as it crackled with green energy.
"The Forgotten Dragon with a Determined Soul! May it show salvation for these undead souls who joined their loved ones! Ritual Summon! Level 7, Forgotten Soul Ritual Dragon!"
From the graveyard portal rose up a dragon different. It has darkened black scales with scars on it's body with three large ones on it's chest area where it's heart resided. It has four talons on it's arms where large wings they are dark gray in the wings, and having long legs with two talons on the front, and one at the back shaping as an armored dragon. It's tail is also quite long with two rows of spines at the left, and right with the end having a bone almost like a wrecking ball with a sharp spike on it. It also has a long neck a horizonal blue stripe pattern all over it at the scales with a blue underbelly on it, and it's body. It's head is also shaped like a lizard's with four blue glowing eyes, and it's snout has a small scar on it with two fangs present almost shaped as a Vampires with two horns that are straight on both sides of it's head on top. Being summoned the dragon let out a large roar.

"What... what is that!?" Alvis cried in shock seeing the dragon.
"Ya stunned it's my partner in dueling, and it's something you won't be forgetting anytime soon!" With his dragon on the field Yuji is ready to turn the tides. "Since he was summoned from the hand using monsters on the field, all Special Summoned monsters on your field lose there effects!" Forgotten Soul started to meditate with closed eyes as green energy from the graveyard portal flew to him coating him in a green aura while embracing himself which surprised them, "Forgotten Embrace!" Forgotten Soul spread his arms out while guiding them down while raising his head up with an opened mouth as if casting a spell while a green mist like ring flew from him to around the field.
Drytron Meteonis Draconids: (Effects Negated)
Alvis only watched as his Ritual Monster's abilities were negated only to frown. "You may have negated Draconid's abilities but your dragon is still too weak to be a threat."
"Yes but not for long." Yuji still had his grin. "Next up is Revendread Slayer's effect in the graveyard!" He raised his arm. "As he was sent to the graveyard his next effect activates! By sending Vendread Striges from my Deck to the graveyard, I can take a second copy of Revendread Origin from my Deck to my hand!" Yuji takes a card adding it showing it. "This allows me to use Forgotten Soul's other effect!" Yuji gestured his arm to Striges who cawed before green energy flew from it to Forgotten Soul's jaw as it turned to dust vanishing.
"What now?" Alvis asked him seeing that.
"Forgotten Soul's next ability takes the cake!" Forgotten Soul rose up glowing green as it gathered energy in it's jaws, "By sacrificing a monster on my field, all of your monsters that are Level 5 or higher loses half of their attack points!" Forgotten Soul snapped his jaw shut directing his vision to Alvis' field most notably Draconids, "Soul Drain!"

Forgotten Soul flew up above Yuji as he looked up to him with a smile. "Nicely done old friend. Good to see you fighting for real now." Forgotten Soul growled softly towards him as Yuji smiled over which Alvis is seeing.
'What, that... how is his monster responding to him like that?' Alvis thought in confusion. 'Duel Monsters is a game about power and having the most power ensures victory... right?'
Noticing Alvis looking at him Yuji turned over towards him. "It's not about that."
"What?" Alvis questioned hearing that as his eyes widened. "Are you able to read minds?"
"No. Just responding to what you said earlier." Yuji stated over towards him. "Duel Monsters isn't about power." He shook his head to tell Alvis his mind to his earlier saying at his turn. "Duel Monsters has nothing about power, or anything that Kaiba tells you. Duel Monsters is all about bonding with your cards, and with your opponents. It's about having a good time, making friends, and respecting your cards forming a bond with them. The Heart of the Cards tells us all that the cards will help us when we need them to most, and it given me my greatest friend cause I believed my Deck can help me through this." Forgotten Soul growled again as if to say it agrees. "You may have gotten a powerful monster on the field, but if you put your heart in the game there will be nothing stopping it. You are playing only for power, and that is why you've lost it."
Alvis flinched at that before frowning. "You made one lucky move and think you're right? I'll destroy your dragon easily."
"Well then come, and try here." Yuji stated over giving Alvis a chance to go while Forgotten Soul growled.

"No, but I have a card I can play! Remember this card from my turn!"
The graveyard portal opened as what rose was a familiar trap card. Alvis blinked before remembering Yuji used Reasoning at the first turn, and this trap card, Stars Align across the Milky Way, was one of the cards sent.
"That trap can't stop my attack." Alvis argued.
"No, but who said I want to stop your attack?" Yuji pointed out before saying. "By banishing this card from my graveyard, and discarding Revendread Origin from my hand," he shows the Ritual Spell discarding it before adding, "I can use Origin's effect as if I am activating it!"

Yuji smiled over before saying. "Well my opponent was really tough but I got him."
"I knew you could Yuji." Yugi smiled to his adoptive brother before pausing. "We should go and meet up with the others."
"Yeah, you two can tell gramps all about your duels." Joey agreed as they ran out of the room.
Meanwhile...
In a dark room a man in a red suit with long white hair was sitting in a chair drinking some wine as a figure approached the door.
"Mr. Pegasus sir, Seto Kaiba our uncontested champion, he's been defeated in a duel sir." the figure explained. "By someone named Yugi."
"Hm..." the man noted thoughtfully revealing his left eye was golden.
bopdog111: Well you guys probably noticed but we didn't use Duelist Kingdom rules.
Ulrich362: To be honest... they are kind of absurd at times... and it helps consistency with the rest of the series. That said, the next duel will have one additional rule.
bopdog111: And don't worry Yuji won't be that strong of an opponent all the time.
Ulrich362: True, so see you in the next chapter.
bopdog111: Be sure to review!
