His mother opened the door into the ER suite and followed him into the room. Christian made his way quickly over to the side of her bed. A nurse was checking her IV drip and Grace addressed her. "Hi Elizabeth, have there been any changes while I've been away?."

"The x-rays results showed a hairline crack in femur, but it is not severe enough to require surgery. Her blood pressure has remained stable and I just finished hanging a second unit of blood. The orderlies should be here shortly to transfer her to the OR."

'Can you give us a minute alone before they arrive?"

"Sure, I'll be just outside if you need anything."

Grace watched her son lean down and kiss the young woman's temple while lightly rubbing his thumb across the top of her hand. The sweetness of the moment made her feel like an intruder, but she couldn't force herself to move from the room.

She watched him take his phone from his pocket, choose a contact and place the phone to his ear. Just when it seemed like no one was going to answer then she heard her son say.

"Mr. Steele, this is Ana's friend Christian Grey, I don't know how to tell you this other than to just say it straight out. Ana was in a car accident this evening and is at Seattle Grace Hospital."

There was a brief pause before he continued. "Sir, she in stable condition but is unconscious and in need of surgery. I know you told Ana you could heard her talking to you while you were unconscious, and I wanted to give you the opportunity to speak to her before they take her into surgery."

After another pause he said. "They are going to be taking her up to the OR in a few minutes. When they do I will call you back and give you every detail I know. But for now, I will put my phone on speaker and let you speak to Ana. I know she would want to hear your voice."

Christian pulled the phone away from his ear and pressed a button on his phone. When he was holding the phone close to Ana's ear he said. "Sir, you're on speaker now, whenever you're ready she can hear you."

"Annie, sweetheart, be strong. I love you and I will be there soon. It appears you have a lot of things to tell me and I want to hear everything." He paused and cleared his throat. "You are not going to leave me. You hear me? Be strong and I love you."

When the call had gone quiet, Christian took the phone off speaker and raised it back to his ear. "Sir, my team is working on the quickest and safest way to get you here. If you put together a bag with your essentials I'll take care of everything else. I'll speak with you again soon."

After terminating the call, he turned to his mother. "Mother, could I please have a moment alone with Anastasia."

She lightly touches his shoulder saying, "I'll be just outside if you need me."

Turning back toward the bed he took Ana's hand again. "Anastasia, right now I wish we were in the penthouse drinking a glass of wine, listen to music while waiting for the new year to arrive. Yet in some ways I am glad we are not there. I'm so sorry it took this accident and you lying here unconscious for me to realize how much you mean to me." He paused briefly then in a choked voice confessed. "I love you Ana, please come back to me baby."

As he bent down to kiss her forehead she squeezed his hand and whispered, "I love you too."

"Ana, thank God." Turning toward the door he hollered. "Mother she's awake!"

When he turned back to her he explained. "Anastasia, we probably only have a few minutes. You need surgery on your shoulder and you may have some internal bleeding, but I have best doctors and surgeons being brought in to take care of you"

As he finished speaking the doors opened and the orderlies wheeled a bed into the room followed by several medical personnel. "I knew you would take care of me. Now you need to let these good people fix me up and I will see you after the surgery." She told him patting the top of his hand that had been holding hers.

Christian was surprised his mother was not among the staff that enter the room. But the staff quickly and efficiently transferred Ana to the new bed. Just before they started to wheel her out of the room. Christian kissed her hand again and back away from the bed.

When they began to move out of the room Christian followed them. Once they were in the hallway one of the staff stepped in front of him and informed him that he could not follow them to surgical floor and told him where to find the surgical waiting room.

"Laters Baby." He called out as they wheeled her away.

He heard her giggle as they turned the corner into another hallway. When she was out of sight Taylor approached his boss. "Sir, I have an update. Let's step back into the exam room for a moment.

Christian turned around and they both made their way back into the room he had just exited.

"What have you got for me Taylor?"

"The PI in New York City spoke with Leia Williams this evening at her apartment. She moved there four months ago for a new job. She sold her car to Mrs. Lincoln who was supposed to transfer the title and get new tags. She produced a bill of sale showing the transaction between her and Mrs. Lincoln where Mrs. Lincoln purchased the car and some other items you had gifted Ms. Williams to help finance her move to New York."

"Approximately twenty minutes ago, Mrs. Lincoln entered the ER here at Seattle Grace. When staff tried have her take a seat to wait her turn, she complained loudly that she is good friends with "The Greys" and she deserved priority treatment. They paged your mother, which is why she was not here when you called out for her. I assigned Ryan to cover Mrs. Lincoln until we get a handle on what happened tonight. She is claiming she injured her wrist in a fall on the icy sidewalk leaving the salon."

"Taylor, we both know that's bull shit. Take me to that bitch!"
