The vast skies were a gorgeous light blue, with only a few wisps of pure white clouds. An all too familiar green bulk soared through the atmosphere. Slowed descending upon the ground as gracefully as a dove. Quite an accomplishment for the pilot managing to skillfully drive something that weighed several tons and was as large as a house. The world famous Tortuga had landed in quite a pristine location. Vibrant green grass stretched out for miles and miles underneath the glorious sunshine.

The Wild Kratts had returned to the Great Plains.

The doors opened as Martin Kratt leapt out, "We are-ACK!!!" Before tripping, rolling down the plank, and landing face first onto the prairie ground. Chris Kratt's chuckles rang out as he watched his brother's latest flop in amusement. "Are you that excited bro? You could have at least waited until we got out of one of our vehicles." The elder Kratt got up and dusted himself as he declared, "Not today!" "Huh???" The younger Kratt raised an eyebrow.

The blonde brother turned to his sibling, "How about we just take it easy for today? Just rely on our own two feet to take us wherever we decide? There are so many things and creatures you can easily miss by vehicle. Plus, our transportation sometimes scares off the critters. So why don't we just take our power suits, our backpacks, and creature pods with us? We can even go camping!" The brunette brother mused over the proposal before returning a smirk, "Alright, let's do it. BUT, if we end up in a situation where a vehicle would have been handy, let's just say-"

"I told you so. Sheesh!! I get it." Martin's eyes rolled as he gave his smug sibling a slight punch. "Still, we will just be extra careful! And make sure our tech is charged and everything! No way you're going to get to sass me this time bro!" The blonde argued. Chris held back a laugh as he followed his wildlife partner back up the gangplank. "I'll let fate be a judge of that today." He answered simply.

"Oh great fates! Grant me the divine protection to NOT let my brother roast me today for something I said!!!"

"Chillax Mr. Theatrics, you will live."

Less than an hour later, after gearing up and checking that the rest of the Kratt crew would fare well for the next few days. The Kratt Brothers embarked out on their latest expedition into the American Great Plains. The sun smiled brightly upon the wildlife explorers as they ventured into the vast oceans of grass. The cries of a peregrine falcon were heard overhead. A pair of pronghorn pranced about the fields. Little prairie dog heads popped out to eye the brothers or let out their little yips! The brothers stayed a fair distance from the occasional herd of buffalo. Admiring the fluffy masses of the content bison.

"You know what we should look for?" Martin spoke up after several minutes of leisure hiking. "Another black-footed ferret colony? Or maybe trek it down to Bandito's family." Chris replied. The blonde brother smiled at the suggestion but said, "Maybe later, but one thing I do want to find is sunflowers. I know that they grow out here in the prairie."

The younger brother smirked as he placed a hand on his hip, "Are the flowers for yourself or a certain scientist?" The elder sibling tried his hardest not to blush but the sheepish smile and rubbing the back of his neck gave him away. "That's-that's not important right now!! Let's just try to find some first ok?!" Martin picked up the pace with a steady joy while Chris crackled mercilessly behind him. "Oooh no, I think he's in love~"

"Chris. Don't you dare."

"He won't say he's in love~"

"I SAID-"

"Without her, he feels broke, like the half of a whole~"

"Chris!!! Stop it right this instant!"

"He's stupid with love~"

"Oh come on! Stop picking on a helpless guy!"

"His disco Juliette, teenage dream~"

"Aviva doesn't even like disco-"

"It's your love story, Aviva just say-AUGH MARTIN LET GO!!!"

Immediately the taunting brunette was tackled by his ticked off counterpart. The tackle caused Chris to fall backwards and it just so happened the two were on a hill. So in no time at all the duo found themselves rolling down the hill almost as fast as Sonic. Luckily, the gods of cartoon physics intervened when a boulder appeared in their path. They ricocheted off the rock, soared through the air, and landed with a resounding OOMPH! in a field of sunflowers.

Martin shook his head to shake off the dizziness, grass blades and dust shook loose from his hair. He looked up to discover to his delight the very flowers he was hoping to find. "Hey! We found some! Thanks Cupid bro!" "Anytime…" Chris groaned in pain as the older Kratt walked off. The blue clad zoologist whistled merrily to himself as he began scrutinizing the sunflowers about him. Inspecting each one and delicately picking any that suited his purposes with great care. He had already collected four fine specimens when he stepped on something.

Puzzled, he glanced down to see a Swiss Army knife. The blade was still left open and stained with an unmistakable substance. Surrounding the knife and leaving it were nearly dried up patches of spilled blood…The sunflowers were forgotten as they dropped to the ground. Martin knelt down to take a closer look, noting the paw prints that came with it. He looked around to realize a trail of blood splotches and tracks went right through the sunflower patch. He took out his creature pod to analyze the blood. Within minutes he had his findings, the blood barely an hour old. With traces of wolf DNA picked up by the high tech device.

"Hey Martin! Did you find a creature! And don't just leave these sunflowers lying around!" Chris spoke up as he joined his brother. "Bro, look at these paw prints…" The blonde asked in a grave tone. The brunette was put off by the sudden switch of his sibling's mood. Yet it soon made sense when he saw the tracks that went with the blood trail. They were huge, about as big as a bear's, yet they had the claw marks of a wolf, and the palm eerily similar to that of a human's hand.

"What the ACTUAL murder mystery and unnatural animal heck?!?!" Chris recoiled. "Bro, let's hurry. Maybe we might make it." Martin stirred themselves to action as he pulled Chris along to follow the rest of the trail. The two Kratts hurried through the sunflower field, keeping alert for anything dangerous or in need of help. Different thoughts were swirling in the other brother's head. Martin wondered how on earth they jumped from creature hike to a borderline supernatural mystery in a matter of hours. Chris internally debated the legitimacy of werewolves and if they were any hunters of said species that existed among mankind.

Eventually they made it to a clear area in the midst of the bright yellow blooms. Both creature adventurers froze to a dead halt. Lying helplessly on the ground, still suffering from the knife ripped wound in their side. Breathing heavily as they groaned in great pain. Surrounded by their still wet blood and a backpack tossed carelessly to the side. Laid the huge bulk of a humanoid wearing only a sleeveless black shirt and grey khakis. Barely concealed the huge ripples of muscle, the night black fur covering their powerful limbs and making up their mane. A fluffy tail limped to the side, black ears shaped more like a bat's. The glistening gold of the crystalline claws, with a face undeniably that of a human's.

The boys carefully approached the stranger, Chris coughing a little to announce their presence. They were merely two feet from the figure when they opened their eyes. Flashing the same glimmering gold as the claws, a bizarre mix between bestial and human. "Gggggggrrrrrr…." They warned as they bared fangs that matched the color scheme of the claws and eyes. "Oh! You're a girl! Hi!" Martin piped up with a friendly smile. The wolf girl blinked. Chris slapped his brother for the latter's lack of tact. Then the wolf spoke up again in her rough voice, "I'm not even going to ask how the frick you can tell I'm female. NOR, do I want to know…."

The blonde Kratt rubbed the slight sore spot on his cheek while Chris took over, "Hello miss, it looks like you can use some help. Could you tell us what happened?" The brunette Kratt knelt down as he asked. The mystery lady groaned, "No need because I'm quietly trying to DIE here…" She scowled gravely. Both Martin and Chris felt like an electric eel struck their heads. "NOW HOLD UP A HOT PIPING MINUTE!!!" Both brothers exclaimed loudly at once which caused the stranger's bat shaped ears to wince. "Will you please pipe down you idiots?…." She growled dangerously again.

"You stabbed yourself with the knife didn't you?" Martin stated as he held up the incriminating object. "Brilliant Sherlock, I doubt anybody would have guessed…" The she-wolf rolled her eyes as she grumbled from both annoyance and pain. "But-but, look Miss??? We might not know your story but is committing suicide the best option for yourself?!" Chris argued with genuine concern for the mystery lady's health. The stranger directed her blazing gold eyes at the biologist, "Better to die by my own hand in freedom instead of a quiet death in captivity…"
