Trigger Warning: Death and Violence
Kai dove from his spinjitzu as a dagger flew past him. He landed and crouched on the ground before he rolled out of the way of another dagger. He smirked as Lilly ran at him, only for him to break into spinjitzu again.
"That's enough!"
Lilly raged, throwing another dagger at Kai. Kai yelped, flipping backwards and narrowly avoiding the sharp blade. He jumped out of Lilly's path, rolling on the ground before returning to his feet.
"You are such a little pest!"
"Trying to be," Kai taunted, jumping out of her path again.
Kai hissed as a dagger flew past him, grazing his shoulder. He glanced down, seeing the tear in his top and the drops of blood appearing on his skin. He looked back up before flipping backwards, avoiding Lilly's grasp again.
Lilly yelped as Wu's spinjitzu smashed into her, launching her several feet. Wu stopped in front of Kai, looking down at the ninja.
"You alright?" he asked.
"Good to go," Kai nodded, getting to his feet.
Both spun back into their spinjitzu, splitting up in different directions, much to Lilly's annoyance.
But that was their goal. Annoy Lilly, keep her distracted and preoccupied to provide the others a chance to get out. Sensei Garmadon would come back when they were safe and help take her down once and for all after. At least, that was the plan.
Kai dodged another dagger that was thrown at him, only to cry as another swiped his calf. He knelt down, his hand flying to his leg. Blood trickled down his leg from where is pantleg had torn.
"Watch out!"
Kai looked up as Lilly grabbed his collar, lifting him into the air. He grabbed her wrists, kicking her in the stomach. Lilly grunted, wincing at the impact but not letting go. She spun him around, using the momentum to send him flying.
Kai cried as he flew across the room. His head collided with the wall before the rest of his body before he fell limp on the ground.
Lilly spun to Wu with a smirk.
"It didn't have to come to this, Wu," Lilly growled. "You could have spared everyone this pain if you just listened to me the first time."
"And let you control everything?" Wu cried.
"Let us control everything," Lilly corrected. "That's why we were given these powers. To control Ninjago, make sure the people know who controls their world."
"These powers are to protect," Wu protested. "You were supposed to protect them!"
"Then why are we far stronger than a regular person?" Lilly demanded. "How can you sit there and say all this when your own father created this world? How can you say you've never thought of controlling it?"
"Because it's not what my father wanted," Wu answered.
"How do you know for sure?" Lilly snapped. "How do you know he didn't give us these powers to control people if they got out of line in his absence?"
"Because he wanted us to keep the peace," Wu declared. "We are here to keep the peace over our world. To keep the people safe and protected. Not to hurt or destroy them."
"Agree to disagree then," Lilly sighed. "Maybe these children you brought here will see my side of things."
"They would never," Wu frowned. "They've told stories of their accomplishments, the things they have done and the villains they have defeated. They would never join your cause. Never!"
"Maybe all they need is a little encouragement," Lilly taunted. "Perhaps if I show them everything wrong with this world, they will come to see how much they can do. They would see how wrong you are that this world is in shambles."
"This world has had nothing but peace," Wu argued.
"This world is in chaos!" Lilly countered. "There is no order, no need for the simple things. People don't understand the dangers around them, the things they could do to themselves and others."
"Because they have no need to. People here trust each other and live happily in their own way."
"Because they have no order," Lilly growled. "They have no leader, no one to tell them what to do. I can be the leader you fail to see is needed. All that's in my way is you and your brother."
"And we will continue to stop you," Wu said. "Until our last breaths, we will ensure you never gain the power you think you deserve."
"Then so be it," Lilly glared.
Lilly pulled out two daggers in each hand as she stepped towards him. Wu stepped back, taking a defensive stance as he eyed Kai's unconscious figure to his right. He was just hoping the ninja was alright and would recover soon.
Wu jumped out of Lilly's reach as she lunged at him. He kept moving, staying one step ahead of her as she continued trying to slice him with her daggers. He ducked and rolled away from her, only to jump out of the way as she threw a dagger at him. She pulled another dagger out, seemingly with an endless amount hidden in her person, before jumping at Wu.
The sensei barely avoided her, feeling the blade of a dagger graze the back of his leg. He stood, turning to run and lead her on a chase.
His first mistake.
He only made it a few steps before a dagger dug into his leg.
Wu cried, falling to the ground with the dagger stuck in his leg. He pulled it out, wincing at the pain before trying to stand. He looked up as Lilly ran at him.
His eyes went wide, using the bloodied dagger in his hand to block hers from hitting him.
"Looks like your times up, old man," Lilly sneered.
"Says you," Wu growled, attempting to drive his dagger into Lilly's chest.
Only the dagger bounced off with a clang. Wu stared in horror as Lilly laughed.
Second mistake.
"You think I'm stupid?" she mocked. "I work in a mine, surrounded by prisoners who would take me out at a moment's notice. Do you honestly think I wouldn't have some sort of protection? You really are foolish."
Wu heard a moan from Kai, glancing over as the boy shifted.
Third mistake.
He gasped as Lilly knocked the dagger from his hand. He watched the dagger fly from his grasp, landing out of his reach. He looked up at her, smirking back down at him.
His last mistake.
Kai groaned, pushing himself up. His head spun from the concussion he received from that impact. He held his head in one hand, looking around. His eyes landed on Lilly.
Kneeling over Wu.
With a dagger in her hand.
Just as she dug a dagger into his chest.
"No!"
And now he wished he'd kept his mouth shut.
"Finally joining us again, are we?" Lilly smiled, standing over Wu's body.
Kai panicked, scrambling to his feet despite his head screaming in pain. He stumbled, trying to keep his balance as the world spun around him.
"Trying to run now?" Lilly tisked. "How do you think that will go?"
Kai paused, leaning against the wall as he looked around the room. His vision blurred and spun as he tried to find an exit. He looked around, struggling to make sense of his surroundings through the dizziness and fog in his mind.
He yelped, ducking as a dagger embedded into the wall next to his head. He glanced up, seeing Lilly standing over him.
"Scared?" Lilly taunted.
"I'm not scared of you," Kai growled.
"Aren't you?" Lilly mocked. "Because you look scared."
"I've beaten villains far worse than you a hundred times," Kai boasted. "Armies far stronger than you."
"Yet here you are," Lilly hummed. "At my mercy."
Kai glared, standing his ground as Lilly twirled a dagger in her hand. She watched him as if she were a cat toying with her prey. A smirk spread across her face.
"Are you an elemental master, by chance?" she hummed.
"Why would that matter to you?" Kai growled.
"Have you seen this world?" she continued. "The uncertainty, the chaos and lack of order for all these people."
"You call this chaos?" Kai blurted out, trying not to laugh.
"What would you call it?" Lilly glared.
"Calmness, tranquillity, peace?" Kai suggested.
"Is that so?" Lilly replied.
"With what happens in my world, this is a nice change of pace," Kai nodded. "Aside from you, that is."
"Of course it is," Lilly grumbled. "Of course, you have that same hero mindset as those idiot senseis everyone praises."
"They are not idiots," Kai glared.
He gasped, sinking back as Lilly shoved him into the wall, her hand on the dagger inches from his head.
"They are nothing but fools who don't see the power they have," Lilly growled. "Those elemental powers make us superior. We should be in charge. We should have the control and power we deserve. Yet they insisted we are supposed to serve and protect. Why? So people can walk all over us like we are lesser."
"So people don't have to live in fear constantly," Kai argued.
"But fear helps keep people safe," Lilly replied.
"No, fear makes people do rash things," Kai countered. "Earning their trust, their respect, getting people to believe you hold their best intentions at heart, that's what keeps them safe."
"Sure it is," Lilly mocked. "That's just what your senseis want you to believe."
"That's what I've witnessed with my own eyes," Kai glared. "People who trust me, trust my team, and will do whatever we ask because they know we are trying to help and protect them."
"Impossible," Lilly laughed. "People only act in their own interests. They wouldn't listen to you."
"But they do," Kai insisted. "They listen because they know who I am, who my team is and just how many people we've helped."
"And just how many people have you lost?" Lilly countered. "How many people have you failed, thus causing more to turn on you."
"That's not the point-"
"Isn't it?"
Kai went silent, glaring at Lilly.
"You can never save everyone," Lilly continued. "Someone will always be against you, and someone will always being trying to stop you. All the more reason to take control. No one will turn on you if they aren't allowed to."
"Yes, they will," Kai argued.
"Enough of this."
Kai yelped, ducking under Lilly's fist as she tried to punch his face. He dove away from here, putting space between them. Lilly yanked the dagger from the wall before turning to watch Kai.
He ran for the ramp, hoping to make a break for the tunnels and lose her in there.
He yelped, jumping back as a dagger flew in front of him.
Only for another to drive itself into his left shoulder.
Kai cried out in pain, his back hitting the wall behind him as his hand flew to his shoulder. He looked down, shaking as he tried to control his breathing. Seering pain coursed through his body as he stared at the dagger.
He looked up as Lilly's shadow loomed over him.
"No running now," Lilly laughed.
Kai cried as she grabbed his collar. She dug a dagger through it, pinning the fabric to the wall behind him. She smirked, stepping away to watch him struggle.
Kai tried to grab the dagger next to his head to free his top. He cried out as pain shot through him from the movement, hardly able to move his left arm without pain.
"Now that you can't leave, I'll go find those friends of yours," Lilly taunted. "Give you some company while you think about everything."
"If you hurt them," Kai growled.
"Don't worry," Lilly assured, pretending to be sympathetic, "I won't hurt them. Of course, if they try to leave, I might have to use a little persuasion."
She knelt down, her hand lifting Kai's chin to force him to meet her gaze.
"After all, I can't have you and your friends ruining my plans."
Kai couldn't respond before Lilly's fist made contact with the side of his head. He felt the cool hand of the dagger next to him as his head spun before everything around him went dark.
