Gabi had stormed out of Josh's after he had to confess that he had kissed his therapist. His confession came after Gabi mistakenly believed he was about to tell her he was ready to be with her.
She didn't allow him the chance to explain that it was she who had kissed him, that he hadnt wanted it and that he only wanted Gabi, even though he still wasn't ready to be together. Josh was s equally frustrated by this as Gabi was but she couldn't see that.
Sofia was able to talk some sense into her, saying that if Josh was truly her one and only like she believed he was then she should do everything she could to work it out.
Gabi decided to take her advice and join Josh on his trip to Australia to receive his award. She decided to surprise him by showing up on the plane, happily envisioning how they would be the obnoxious couple who wouldn't stop kissing, oblivious to their surroundings.
She desperately missed his sweet kisses and his passionate ones even more.
She took a deep breath as she approached first class, where he was seated, taking a moment to refresh her lip gloss in anticipation of their soon to be reunion kiss, and the many others to follow after.
Her giddy grin fell instantly when she saw Dr. Rounds there with Josh. She quickly retreated so she wouldn't be seen, heartbroken.
It was too late to get off the plane so she was stuck there, dreading having to face Josh and Dr. Rounds when they all arrived in Australia. There was also the issue of she had no where to go when she arrived, having planned on staying with Josh.
She called Sofia, sobbing, telling her what had happened and asking what she should do.
Sofia told her to get off the plane in Hawaii, where it was stopping first because Elliott, Alan and Yolanda were there already and they would figure out what to do from there.
A man sitting near her overheard her story and confided he was in a similar predicament. His fiancée had left him a the altar and he had decided to come on their honeymoon to get away from everything, that and it was all paid for so why waste a trip to Hawaii. The problem was he discovered his now ex-fiancée had planned the trip and the resort she had chose was couples only, which he no longer was.
He offered for Gabi to stay with him so that they would both have a place to stay when they got there and then he would buy her a plane ticket home.
Gabi looked at him skeptically, thinking she might end up on her own dateline special.
"I get your hesitation, we are total strangers but I swear my offer is totally innocent, It's not for sex or to murder you" he grinned playfully, reading her mind.
She laughed "I'm sure that's what all the murderers say right before they murder" she teased, making him chuckle.
"My name is Adam, here let's google me" he said showing her his phone, pulling up his social media accounts. "To prove this is real information" he pulled out his wallet and showed her his driver's license, "You can send my info to your friend for insurance." He suggested.
"She will perform a more thorough background check than the FBI" Gabi shrugged
"So what do you say? Will you be my fake wife for the week?" he asked.
"Fake yeah I will" she smiled, making him laugh again.
"Great! This will be way more fun than me staying holed up in the room alone and crying" he said sadly.
"We aren't doing that" Gabi said decidedly. "You know what screw them! They don't know what they're missing not being with us" she said.
"You're right! Let's go have an amazing vacation without them" he said.
"I'll drink to that" Gabi said, handing him a mini bottle for himself while downing hers.
Gabi called Sofia once they landed to update her on the plan and sent her Adam's info just in case she went missing.
Ever cautious Sofia objected to their little scheme but as usual she couldn't convince Gabi it wasn't a good idea.
They got to the hotel and checked in.
"Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Foley, happy honeymoon" the concierge greeted them.
Adam's face fell at hearing the words he should have been hearing with his new bride.
They got to the room and he was further saddened by the romantic set up, flowers on the bed, champagne waiting.
"Hey, screw her remember? We are going to have fun damn it!" she said.
"So you're not thinking about Josh?" he asked.
"Of course I am, he's all I can think about" she frowned, belly flopping on the bed, lying face down for a moment before she gathered herself. "But he doesnt want me so I need to stop this" she said determinedly.
"Maybe a trip to the swim up bar will help us get them out of our minds" Adam suggested, looking at the hotel amenities.
"Yes! A Bellini in my bikini is just what I need!" she said excitedly, going to the bathroom to change. "Ooh And maybe we post pictures of all the fun we're having to make them super jealous" Gabi said exuberantly, smiling big.
"I like where your head is at" Adam said, on board with the plan.
"Josh and Amanda arent going to see this coming" he said, pleased with their scheme.
Gabi snapped selfies of them in the pool with their drinks, and at the beach, both smiling brightly like they were having the time of their lives.
Sofia saw the posts and immediately knew what Gabi was up to. She grinned knowingly and decided to help her plan along.
She texted Josh. "Hey Josh, how's the trip?". She left it at that, knowing he wouldn't have arrived in Sydney yet and would respond when he was.
Gabi and Adam spent the day drinking cocktails and having fun. They ran into Elliott, Alan and Yolanda and hung out with them, Gabi explaining what happened with Josh and the therapist but insisted she didn't want to talk about it anymore, that they were all there to have fun.
"Thank God, just you being here ruins my day, I don't need your incessant whining to make it even worse" Elliott said snarkily.
Alan stared at her, silently debating if he should tell her about the therapist but he didn't know if anything else had happened that would make sense that Josh was with her.
Once Josh landed in Australia he got Sofia's message.
"Hey Sof, just landed. Going to hotel now to get ready for award banquet tonight." He responded.
Before he could tuck his phone back in his pocket he got another text.
"Hope you have fun. I didn't realize therapists traveled with you, she must be very dedicated" with an angry face.
Josh stared at the screen in confusion, wondering how she could know that Dr. Rounds was on his plane.
"Oh my God!" he suddenly gasped as it came to him.
"Josh, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Dr. Rounds asked, touching his arm.
"No, I'm not! It's Gabi's roommate, she knows you were on the plane with me which must mean Gabi was there too." He said, pacing.
"You said you two were over for good" she reminded him.
"Gabi said that, when she found out about the kiss but she must have changed her mind and came to be with me" he smiled briefly. "Then she saw you" he frowned, returning his attention to his phone.
"It's not that, I didn't invite her, she showed up. Where is Gabi?" Josh texted Sofia back frantically, while looking around the airport for Gabi, thinking she must be there somewhere if she had been on the plane.
"Check her IG" came Sofia's reply.
Josh opened Instagram and immediately felt like the wind had been knocked out of him as he saw all the photos of Gabi smiling, hanging onto another man.
"Gabi's posting pictures with some guy, who is this guy? Are they in Hawaii? He swallowed hard and showed Dr. Rounds.
She shook her head "I'm sorry Josh" she said, trying to sound sympathetic while actually wanting to scream in joy at Gabi clearing the way for her to Josh.
"No. This isnt right. She wouldn't…." he said thinking it through.
"Rebounding is a common way people process break-ups" Dr. Rounds told him, while eyeing him, hoping he would take the hint that she was happy to assist him in that way.
"I have to go" he said instead.
"You cant leave, what about your award?" she asked, trying to prompt him to stay.
"I don't give a damn about any award, the only thing that matters to me is Gabi" he said, and returned to the departures area to buy a ticket to get to Gabi in Hawaii as fast as he possibly could.
He called Sofia to find out what was going on.
"Oh hey dirt bag" she greeted him angrily.
"What? Dirt bag? Sofia, I'm not a dirt bag!, You know that, you know me!" he insisted.
"I thought I did, Gabi thought she did too but then you go and do this to her?" she said angrily, channeling Lil So So.
"I already told you she just showed up. I swear there was never anything going on between us." He told her honestly.
"I want to be with Gabi. I….I….love her" he got the words out that had been trapped behind his tall, painted blue walls that had stood in the way of their happiness before.
Sofia was quiet a moment. "You really love her? you're sure? No more playing around." She had a tone that let Josh know he would have to deal with her if he messed things up again. He couldn't help but smile at her protectiveness and loyalty to her girl, who was also his girl, or would be if they could ever catch a damn break.
"A thousand percent" he confirmed, nodding needlessly.
"Please tell me the pics are just to get back at me" he said, hesitantly, desperately wishing for the answer he wanted to hear.
"You already know" Sofia sighed. "That's our girl".
"If I'm lucky" Josh said. "Where is she? I'm hopping on the next plane out"
"But you're going to miss your award ceremony, that's why you're there" she said.
"Screw the award, I need to get to Gabi and tell her how I feel before anything else can get in our way"
"She's at flip flops for lovers in Maui, and Josh?"
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Don't screw this up. Good luck" she smiled into the phone.
"Thanks Sofia" he grinned.
Josh hurriedly got a plane ticket to Hawaii and settled in to his seat for the much too long flight that separated him from the love of his life.
He called Gabi, no answer, getting her voice mail instead.
"Hi Gabi, its uh, me, Josh. Please don't hang up. I know you saw Dr. Rounds on the plane but you should know I didn't invite her, I didn't want her there and there has never been anything between us. I only want you. I really hope you still want me too. I'm really sorry about everything. I'm on my way to you now so I have to hang up but I will see you soon, and I have so much more I want to say when I see you"
"I have to tell you the truth Gabala" Alan said, when she was finally alone.
"It's not that you, Elliott and Yolanda really are a throuple is it?" she asked, making a face.
"No, its about Josh. He told me when that so called therapist kissed him and I'm afraid I told him not to tell you" he confessed.
"What?" Gabi asked angrily. "Why would you do that?"
"I'm sorry sweetheart. He said it didn't mean anything and that you are the one he wants to be with, but he wasn't ready yet. I thought knowing about a meaningless kiss that wasn't even his fault would hurt you unnecessarily. I told him he needed to find a new therapist but he went back to her instead, saying he didn't want to start all over. He wanted to get better as fast as he could to be with you" he smiled tenderly, covering her hand with his.
"Then she told him she had feelings for him so he couldn't go back to her, that's when you overheard him say he was done with therapy and got the wrong idea. I don't know how she ended up on that plane with him but I know it wasn't his doing, he only has eyes for you Gabala" he smiled. "Ugh! You two are so frustrating together but also such a romance, like star crossed lovers destined to be together no matter what" he said, covering his heart with his hand.
She smiled happily for a moment then gasped "Oh no, my Instagram!. What if he's seen it? she said putting her hands over her eyes. "My phone! I need my phone!" she said running towards the room in a panic.
She leaped on the bed, flopping down on her belly, grabbing it. She saw a voicemail from Josh and held her breath as she prepared to listen to it, hoping he didn't get the wrong idea from her posts, well technically it was the right idea, the idea she originally wanted him to get but not now.
She beamed at hearing him explain about Dr. Rounds and say he wanted her and was coming for her.
She quickly texted back "You cant get here fast enough with a heart emoji, before flipping over onto her back and hugging the phone to her heart and kicking her feet against the comforter in glee.
She told Adam and he was genuinely happy for her. He told he had been talking to Amanda as well after she saw their Instagram posts and she wanted him to come home so they could talk through everything so that's what he was doing.
"Wow, that's amazing!" she said. "My plans never come together like this" she said, genuinely surprised at it's success.
They wished each other luck and happiness and parted ways, promising to keep in touch on social media.
Because of the flight length Josh wasn't going to be there until the early morning. She tried to sleep but mostly lay awake anticipating his arrival. In the morning, she uncharacteristically jumped out of bed to get ready. She did her hair and make up and chose a short red sundress with pink flowers that was fitted at the top and flowy at the bottom. It had a deep V neckline in the front and back, showing a good amount of skin, she smiled picturing the look in his eyes when he saw her. Hopefully he wouldn't be able to keep his hands off of her.
She paced the grounds in nervous anticipation. She stopped in her tracks and stared when she saw him step out of a chauffeured SUV.
She waited for him to see her. As soon as he did, he grinned, his heart racing. This was it, one of the moments he knew would define his life.
The smile she returned was luminous. She took a deep breath and nodded before taking off running to him. He crossed through the open air lobby to her and caught her as she threw herself into his arms. He wrapped both arms around her, holding her tightly.
"I still want you, you're all I've ever wanted" she spoke softly into his ear.
"I love you Gabi" he grinned, his face exuding happiness.
"I love you too, so much" she beamed back in pure joy.
His mouth was on hers in an instant.
The first soft, gentle kisses quickly growing into passionate ones, satisfying a long neglected need in them both.
"Come with me" she panted after they finally separated.
"I'm hoping to" he grinned playfully, making her laugh, both feeling immediately comfortable as their relationship relaxed back into their normal.
She led him to the room and he pulled her back to him as soon as the door was closed behind him. She giggled, holding onto his shoulders as he kissed her, walking her toward the bed. He laid her down and climbed on top of her as they made out.
"Wait" he said, stopping suddenly.
"Noooooo" she whined "No more waiting"
He laughed "I've been traveling for like 30 hours straight. I just want to take a quick shower."
"Oh, I didn't even think about that, you must be exhausted" she said rubbing his shoulder and upper arm as he hovered over her.
"I am dying, my whole body hates me right now, but it's so worth it" he smiled lovingly and kissed her softly one more time.
"You look absolutely amazing by the way" he said looking her over appreciatively.
"Thank you" she smiled. "I bet this dress looks even better on the floor" she teased.
"I'll just be two minutes" he promised, heading for the bathroom.
"You better mean in the shower" she warned, causing him to laugh. He threw his T-shirt back at her playfully.
She got undressed and waited.
Josh returned promptly, just as he'd promised, a towel slung around his waist, tucked loosely by a bunched up fold.
"Oh wow" he said, stopping in his tracks at the sight of her naked in the bed, waiting for him.
"How long are you going to make a girl wait?" she grinned flirtingly.
He whipped off the towel and rejoined her on the bed, returning his body over hers.
"I'm here" he said, running his hand along her cheek and looking into her eyes so lovingly.
"You are" she acknowledged, running her hands over the bare skin of his shoulders and upper back.
"But are you going to stay?" she asked, biting her lip, staring into his eyes as if trying to see into his soul for the answer.
"I'm not going anywhere, ever again, you're stuck with me" he said confidently, his words instantly healing.
"Well I guess you're stuck with me too because I'm not going anywhere either" she smiled back.
They took their time getting to know each other in the most intimate way, slow kisses and hands touching everywhere, the walls that had once stood in their way had come crashing down, leaving no trace of themselves, only happiness.
After making love they lay cuddled up in bed, unwilling to break the physical contact they had been missing for so long.
Josh was struggling to stay awake.
"I'm sorry babe, as much as I want to be with you right now, I just cant help it, I am going to pass out" he said, kissing her head and gently squeezing her with the arm that was wrapped around her.
"I know you're beyond exhausted, that amount of travel was insane" she said, running her fingers over his abdomen. "Thank you for coming after me"
"Had to. No place I'd rather be" he mumbled, eyes closed.
"Good thing we have our whole lives to be spend together" she said, dropping a kiss on his chest, before settling her head back on his shoulder.
"Me and you" he smiled sleepily before quickly drifting off. She soon followed, contentedly snuggled under his arm.
