Ok, so my last chapter was shorter than I expected, but like I said before, there's a lot to cover and I can't exactly watch the episodes while I'm writing them. I really wish someone would post a detailed transcript of the dubbed and subbed episodes, might make things easy when writing these chapters.
Well, I have given a few ideas plenty of thought, one of them having Izuku being a Ranger, another bringing in Commander Doggie Cruger, the creator of the Power Coins training our heroes in the ways of the ninja, Billy from the original team of rangers coming into the story, the Blue Senturion coming back to Earth, the legacy of Hartford Industries, the Sentinel Knight and maybe the appearance of a certain group of warriors who have the powers of thirty-four previous teams of warriors, and the idea of a few Kamen Riders showing up. Plenty of ideas, but I want to know what all of you would like to see in this story, aside from everything that I've seen people ask in the reviews. But I am trying to think about chapters involving the origins of the other four lightspeed rangers and some chapters that focus on them. I don't want to just focus on the Red Ranger.
I will say, that there will be several students, not including Bakugo and Monama becoming rangers. Izuku being one of them, but I'm still debating on the others.
And before I forget once more, I hope someone puts a page for one of my stories on TV Tropes one day. I've seen a few stories already on that site, a couple of which I read.
Well, onto the next chapter of the Sports Festival, hopefully this one will be longer than the previous chapter.
Onto the reviews.
KaijuEmperor: Yeah, I agree, Endeavor was better in season 4 and 5 and if you think that his attitude to the rangers is bad, you should see how he treats the Autobots and Autobot aligned Mini-Cons in Transformers MHA by the Omni-Remnant and you'll see how much of an asshole he is to Optimus Prime. But yes, Shoto did still throw a hissy fit in his match with Sero, but his match with Izuku will go differently. I can assure you that much.
Luffy L Deathwalker: Really? Did Dabi say that he get's motion sick? I need to rewatch the series.
DCD Gojira: Thank you, that scene will happen in the future, I promise you.
Monster King: I'm going to keep going, no matter what anyone says in a review, guest or otherwise.
Edmonton58: There's another one asking about Izuku being a ranger. I do plan on that now, but as for which ranger of which team, I don't know yet.
Aztec 13: Yeah, that's what I like about crossover stories. Hell, there's this Avengers/Star Wars story where Hevy and Cutup aren't killed on Rishi and both end up becoming ARC Troopers, all thanks to the Avengers and their interference with the Clone Wars. Not to mention helping the Chosen One stray from Sidious grooming him to the Dark Side. Did I mention that he fights his future self in several chapters?
Alright, let's get to the chapter.
Disclaimers are the same as always. I only own my own characters and Megazord ideas. Enjoy.
Chapter 26: Battle on Challengers: The Second Bracket
Forest Outside UA High School
His companion chewing out a piece of meat, Koragg continued to watch the matches through the magic sphere he created, finding the match between Iida and Hatsume to be a disgrace, while the matches between Sero and Shoto, Kaminari and Ibara were 'interesting' to say the least. In his opinion, he thought that someone like Kaminari would know that his electricity would be useless against someone who uses a power that focused on the power of earth.
Shoto on the other hand, was a different story. Koragg found himself intrigued by the power of the son of Endeavor, fire and ice was a powerful combination, but Koragg noticed, just like at the USJ and when the Wild Force rangers first appeared, Shoto was not using his fire quirk. "He has more power, but he limits himself to his ice. If he is to survive in battle, then he will need to use both powers in order to become a hero." Koragg mused.
His sphere then turned to the teacher stands, where he focused on the skeletal Toshinori. For some reason, Koragg found the skeletal man very familiar, almost like he was looking at All Might, but when the sphere turned to towards the Class A stands, his attention was fixated on Izuku. "The boys power is similar to that of All Might. Perhaps there is more to their quirks then we originally thought." He said to himself, his wolf companion's fur suddenly shooting up and letting out a growl, glaring at Monoma who was laughing at the 1-A students, before he was knocked out by Kendo. "I don't like that boy either, Beowolf. He isn't worthy of being a hero and his quirk is wasted on him, but I will not strike down a child."
Trakenna's base
Up on the moon, in the remains of the magnificent palace that once belonged to Rita and Zedd, the leader of Humarise, Flect Turn growled at the sight of the sports festival. "It's disgusting. Everyone is infected with hero syndrome and they use their cursed powers to sell themselves as 'hero's'. They will destroy the world, unless we, the true humans stop them." Flect said, watching the display through the viewscreen while Stingwingers scurried about the palace. "We should attack them now, show the world that UA is nothing more than a breeding ground for dangerous humans."
"No." Trakenna countered. "We're not ready to attack. The monsters that Sambash reached out too haven't arrived yet and I want to know more about these kids and their powers. The more we learn about them, the better we can destroy them."
"What if they become to powerful like Flect says they'll be?" Vypra asked. "If they learn how to control their powers, then we'll be defeated without even getting our revenge against the rangers and Olympius."
"Trust me, Olympius and the rangers won't defeat us." Trakenna assured. "But as for those kids and heroes, we need to find a way to get rid of their powers, permanently. We just need to find a way how and I think, we need to go down to earth and find it."
"My organization has many contacts in the political and law enforcement branches across the globe. If anyone can find what we seek, it's through one of our many allies." Flect told the daughter of Scorpius. "After all, Weston and Taft weren't the only ones who were sympathetic to our cause."
"Then what are you just standing around for?" Trakenna demanded. "Get out there and start looking!" She ordered, to which slightly startled Flect, but only slightly.
Earth
UA Stadium Locker Rooms
Shoto sat on the bench in the locker room. Though he didn't know who he would be facing in the next match, he felt like his victory against Sero wasn't a true victory. He vented his frustration and anger he had towards his father on his opponent, his classmate and the last thing Shoto wanted to was to win by letting his anger towards his father fuel his desire to win.
His phone than rang, and he looked to see it was his sister who was calling him. "Hey, Fuyumi." He said into the phone.
"Let me guess, you took your frustration on dad out on your opponent, right?" his sister guessed.
"I did. It's not the way I wanted to win. It's just that Dad was telling me to use my other side, going on about that it was my destiny to surpass All Might. I bet he even said that Connor and his teammates shouldn't be allowed into the school. I've read the handbook, and there's no rule that says students have to have a quirk to attend the school. It just means they can't take the Hero Course classes." Shoto answered his sister.
"Don't beat yourself up over it. Sure, the way you won wasn't how you wanted to win, but you, Natsuo and I know that the Power Rangers are needed, especially when it comes to things like giant monsters, aliens and demons. I don't think Dad could handle a giant robot or a monster. Besides, you're not trying to be like Dad, you're trying to be your own hero." Fuyumi assured her younger brother.
"I know that, I just… sometimes I feel like I'm going to end up like Dad, no matter how much I try not to be like him." Shoto said, then hung up the phone.
"Sounds like you've got more then your fair share of troubles." Said Loki, in his human form as he stepped into the locker room. "Sorry, I should introduce myself. My name's Loki and while I might look human, I'm actually a demon, like Diabolico."
"You're a demon? Yet you look like a human." Shoto pointed out as Loki took a seat beside him.
"Yeah, well I used my powers to make myself look like a human. Last thing me and Diabolico want is to cause a panic and have everyone think Olympius launched an attack during the festival." Loki answered. "So, uh, I heard your dad is the number two hero in Japan. I might not have met the guy, but I've heard a lot of things about him, when it comes to being a hero. I mean, I even heard he pushed away someone who wanted his autograph, probably left a bad impression on that kid."
"My Dad and I are nothing alike. I might have his fire quirk, but I'm never going to use it or be anything like him." Shoto snarled, almost offended. "I'll be a great hero and I'll only use the quirk I got from my mother."
"Woah, take it easy there. I didn't mean any offense." Loki quickly corrected. "I'm only saying that you're nothing like your father and you can be a hero in your own way. I bet you'd even make a good White Ranger, if there was a White Lightspeed Ranger."
"Oh, I'm sorry I snapped at you." Shoto apologized. "I just don't like being compared to my father or have anyone tell me I'm like him."
"Believe it or not, you're not the only one who feels that way." Loki replied. "Back when I was still in the Shadow World, I had a lot of monsters compare me to that brat Olympius and his mother, mainly from the monsters that I created. They said I was just like them, using them only to further their own gains and saw them as expendable. For a while I did think I was like that, but after several decades in the Shadow World, I knew they were wrong. I'm nothing like them and you're nothing like your father. You can choose to be the person you want to be and no one else has the right to tell you that you can't."
Shoto was taken a back by Loki's words. Even if the man sitting beside him was a demon in human form, he actually found someone who was in a situation similar to his, even if it was different circumstances. But the biggest thing on his mind was what Loki said about him. "You really think I'd make a decent White Ranger?" he asked.
"Without a doubt." Loki assured.
Stadium
"Let's keep the ball rolling folks! Time for match five, and it's another match that pits the students from the same class against one another. From Class A, it's the girl with pink skin, horns and the acid that can melt though anything, MINA ASHIDO! Verses… The boy with the laser in his belly button, YUGO AOYAMA!" Mic announced as both 1-A students walked onto the field, with Aoyama's belt shining in the sun.
"Naval Laser vs Acid. Wonder who's going to win?" Lena asked.
"If Mina can dodge Aoyama's laser, than she'll win." Izuku answered, flipping through his notebook. "Considering that Ashido's quirk is acid, then Aoyama is already at a disadvantage."
"Acid eats through anything it comes into contact with. Metal, flesh, wood, stone, makes you wonder how many other acid users are out in the world." Melissa noted.
"Anyone think that pinky is part xenomorph?" Nejire joked.
"If she was, then we'd already be infected with those things that burst out of our chests, what are they called again?" Anthony asked.
"Chest bursters." The other students of Class A said at once.
"Let's hope there aren't any creeps in the audience or watching the games from home who want to see Aoyama destroy Mina's clothing like in one of those fighting games." TJ said, getting a few glares from the girls of 1-A. "What? I'm hoping that doesn't happen. People who like that sort of thing, they are creeps." He said in his defense.
"Yeah, he's right, ribbit." Tsu agreed.
Down in the field, Mina cracked her knuckles ready for a battle. "Winning is going to be a piece of cake." Mina said with assurance.
"Don't be so sure, ma Cherie." Aoyama countered, as the bell rang, signaling the beginning of the match.
"Naval Laser!" Aoyama shouted, firing his laser at Mina, but the pink skinned girl secreted acid from her feet, using it to slide across the stage, dodging each of Aoyama's beams.
"Give it up, Aoyama, I already know your weakness, thanks to our time training together." Mina shouted, continuing to dodge Aoyama's beams, until at last, Aoyama's stomach started to hurt, a moment that Mina capitalized on. "There's my shot!" she stated, throwing some acid onto Aoyama's belt, which broke and dropped his pants. "And now for my finishing move, an uppercut!" she exclaimed, delivering a strong uppercut to Aoyama's chin that knocked him out hard.
"Aoyama has fainted! Ashido wins!" Midnight announced.
Skull Cavern
"Called it!" Rito, Elgar and Goldar said at once, each of them expecting Aoyama to lose his match against Ashido. Olympius on the other hand, had his eyes focused on Aoyama, for reasons that not even Ivan knew.
Jasons Apartment
Mustufa, Japan
"Wow, that guy went down quick." Jason noted, having finished his lunch that he bought from the convenience store down the road. "It was almost like his quirk wasn't compatible with his body. Like it wasn't his to begin with." He then took out the silver case, and opened it, revealing a bracelet with a white gem in the center of it, then held it up. "We're going to need more dino power if more of those Nomu things are being created. Whoever created them, they'll probably try to infuse them with the powers of former rangers."
He placed the bracelet back into the case, then pulled out his cell phone and selected one of his contacts. "It's me. Yeah, I'm watching the Sports Festival right now, but that's not why I called you. Have you been keeping up with recent events, involving the Power Rangers? I think we're going to need you." He told his contact.
Stadium
"Time to move onto match six! And it's another battle between classmates! From Class 1-A, the dark samurai with offense and defense in one, accompanied by his ever faithful Dark Shadow, it's Fumikage Tokoyami! Versus, the creation user who was let in based on recommendation, also from Class 1-A, Momo Yaoyorozu!" Mic announced at the top of his lungs.
"What do you think of the match, Midoriya?" Ojiro asked the quirk inheritor.
"It will be all down to timing." Izuku answered, to the confusion of Ojiro.
Down in the stadium, Momo was thinking the same thing. With Dark Shadow being able to act as both offense and defense, Momo was certain that her classmate would start with a preemptive strike, so her plan was to create a shield and block the first attack, then give her time to create a weapon that she could use to fight.
"Begin!" Mic announced with enthusiasm.
"Go, Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami instructed, who dived straight towards Momo, who created a shield and tried to create a polearm, but Dark Shadow circled around her and struck her shield, breaking her concentration. Another strike from Dark Shadow knocked Momo's shield off her arm.
'He's so fast. I can't collect my thoughts.' Momo told herself, quickly creating another shield just before Dark Shadow rammed into her new shield and knocked her back several feet. The onslaught from Dark Shadow continued for a few seconds before it finally stopped, much to Momo's confusion. 'Why did he stop his attacks? Am I out of range? No matter, this is my chance to go on the offensive.' She thought, creating the pole she tried to make earlier, twirled it around and was about to take the defensive.
"Yaoyorozu is out of bounds! Tokoyami wins!" Midnight declared, much to Momo's surprise until she looked down to see that her foot slid out of bounds due to Dark Shadows attack.
"Dark Shadow, return." Tokoyami called, recalling his sentient quirk and bowed to Momo, a sign of respect to his opponent before leaving the field.
"Talk about an overwhelming and fast victory. Looks like you've got several powerhouses in your class Eraser head." Mic told his fellow commentator while down on the field, Momo was lamenting her defeat, as she was unable to showcase any of her own talents.
"Tokoyami's was too amazing. He was able to force Yaoyorozu out of bounds just by focusing his attacks on her shield. He might not have been trying to hurt her, but if it was that easy for him to beat her, how can any of us manage to stand against him. If I considered…." Izuku muttered, jotting down notes in his notebook before a hand was placed on his shoulder.
"Dude, take it easy. Don't over think it." Jiro told Izuku.
"My bad habit strikes again." Izuku said with a sweat drop down the back of his head, then glanced around. "Hey, where's Connor? I don't think I've seen him."
"I think he said something about going to the bathroom?" Nejire guessed.
"Alright! Time for match number seven!" Mic yelled into the mic. "And this one is between two students with two completely redundant quirks. With passion and manly steel, from the Hero Course… Tetsutetsu Tetsutesu! Versus… a manly fighter with hardening passion made of rock, Ejiro Kirishima!"
"WHAT THE HELL! ARE INTROS THE SAME!" the two students shouted in unison, annoyed by Mic's statement.
Stadium Hallways
"Oh man, that's what happens when you have too much to drink on a hot day. And it's supposed to still be spring. Feel's way too hot to be spring." Connor groaned, stepping out of the bathroom. Having drank too much water, mostly during Mei's 'commercial match' he needed to use the restroom and it took him longer than he wanted to. "I probably already missed the match between Tokoyami and Momo. Which means that Kirishima and Tetsutetsu are probably brawling it out now and that means, the match between Ochako and Bakugo is next."
Putting his hat back on, he jogged to the locker room where he found Ochako. "Hey, Ochako..." he started to say before he noticed the furrowed brows and shakey smile on the gravity girls face. "What happened to your face?"
"What about my face?" Ochako asked.
"Uraraka, I…" Izuku started as he entered the locker room, with Iida who both noticed the gravity girls face. "Wow, I guess going up against Kachan has got you nervous."
"Yeah, I guess it does. Especially considering what you and Connor told me about him." Ochako admitted, slapping her cheeks with her hands which seemed to return her face to normal. "Guess it's going to be a while before my match." She noted, looking up at the monitor in the locker room, noticing that Kirishima and Tetsutetsu was still going on with both students not giving the other an inch.
"It would appear so. But what is this about what your two told her about Bakugo?" Iida asked with the chop of his arms.
"Well, let's just say that Bakugo was way more of a jerk than we let on." Connor said. "The first day I started studying abroad, I watched Bakugo use his quirk to shove Izuku into a pile of dirty snow and laughed at the whole thing. I stood up for Izuku, but the moron kept on doing it, even using his quirk to make Izuku mess up in gym class. He kept on targeting Izuku for the whole time I was studying abroad, even knocking Izuku's books out of his hands, using a small explosion to make my friend jump when the teacher was giving a speech, everything he did was to torment Izuku, just because he thought that my friend was quirkless until his quirk emerged."
"How could the teachers let him get away with such behavior!?" Iida exclaimed in shock.
"It's because of his quirk." Izuku admitted. "His quirk is so amazing and considering that he was praised for most of his childhood because of his power, the teachers turned a blind eye to his actions and didn't help me. I did have a few teachers who did try to help me, but the rest of the school didn't do anything, even after I reported it."
"And it all has to do with the fact that Izuku was considered quirkless until he finally found his quirk." Connor added, reaching into his pocket and pulled out a pair of dice he had forgotten to take out and placed them on the table. "You see, the world isn't as black and white as you think, Iida. While eighty percent of the population has a quirk and twenty percent doesn't, not everyone is treated equally." He began, moving one of the dice away from the other. "People with quirks will look down on those who they consider weak and most consider them second class citizens. It's similar to the era before the civil rights movement back in the states. Those in power and those with power will do anything to keep people they deem to be, 'inferior' from achieving greatness and there are plenty of people who share the same views."
"People who are quirkless, those who have been picked on because they lack any sort of quirk, they've been bullied, tormented and ridiculed for years because of not having a quirk." Melissa added as she, Nejire and the other rangers walked into the locker room. "But, while some people with quirks are like Bakugo, not everyone is like that." She then moved the first dice back to the second dice. "But that's where people like you, Ochako and the others come in. Those who except and respect people for who they are, quirk or not. If you two had met Izuku in middle school, he'd have had a better experience in junior high school."
"I… never thought about it that way." Iida hummed to himself. "But regardless, whether you were quirkless or not, bullying is downright deplorable. What those teachers didn't do was downright neglectful of their duties, but Bakugo's not the type of person who'd use his quirk on a girl, right?"
"No, he would." Izuku answered. "Even if he wasn't fighting you, I don't think he would ever hold back." He then brought out his notebook. "Uraraka, you and the others have helped me so much over the course of the last month and I think it's time I returned the favor. I've got a plan for how you can use your quirk to overpower Kaachan. It might not be much, but if you combine it with the martial arts that you and I learned from Connor and the others, you'll have a chance to win…"
"What a brilliant way to think ahead, Midoriya!" Iida praised. "This is perfect, right Uraraka?"
"Yeah, but I don't think I'll need it." Ochako said, much to the surprise of the others. "Deku, I keep seeing more and more amazing sides of you each day. During the calvary battle, I thought it would be easy to team up with friends, but now that I've thought about it, I've been relying on my friends too much. That's why when Iida said he would challenge you, it actually made me feel a little embarrassed. That's why it's fine. Everyone's facing the future and trying their hardest, that means we're all rivals. That's why, we'll meet in the finals!"
Izuku couldn't help but smile at Ochako's statement, though he was still worried about her, he had faith in her abilities and was looking forward to seeing the match.
Skull Cavern
Elgar returned to the throne room, with a jumbo-sized bucket of popcorn covered in rotten butter and a jumbo-sized soda as he sat down on his lawn chair, next to Rito and Goldar. "So, did I miss anything?"
"Nah, you did miss nothing, El. Steel boy and hardening are still going at it. Then again, it makes sense since their quarks are the similar." Rito answered.
"Quirks, you bonehead." Goldar corrected, grabbing a handful of popcorn and ate it, just as Kirishima and Tetsutetsu threw a punch at each other's faces, both of them falling to the ground unhardened with their mouths hung open.
"Wow, all I'm doin' is watching these guys and that even hurt me. But both contestants are KO'd, but the question remains as to who the winner is!" Mic announced, the audio echoing around the Skull Cavern.
"They're both down! It's a draw! When the contestants have recovered, the winner will be determined by a simple contest, perhaps arm wrestling!" Midnight announced with a raise of her hand.
"A draw? Well, I guess that means we get to watch these kids fight each other another time." Elgar shrugged.
"Bah, this sports festival is boring. I'm only watching this because I thought I would be able to see these kids rip each other apart limb from limb." Darkonda scoffed.
"Of course, you would want to see something as brutal as that." Ecliptor scolded.
"I will say that the boy with the bird head fought well." Treacheron admitted. "Though the girl with the creation quirk needs to learn to make split second decisions. One attack and her concentration was broken, a fatal mistake anyone can make in battle and a mistake that has led to many warriors to their premature destruction."
"Like it matters." Deviot interjected. "She'll fall, just like the rangers and their allies in the end."
"While we wait for Kirishima and Tetsutetsu to recover, let's move onto the eighth and final match of round one. He was kind of a hotshot in middle school and just look at that determined face! From Class 1-A of the Hero Course, Katsuki Bakugo! Verses… the gravity girl herself… and who I'm personally routing for, Ochako Uraraka!" Present Mic's voice echoed.
"So, uh, is it wrong for me to say that I'm worried about pink cheeks?" Elgar asked, but Olympius and several others were more focused on Bakugo.
Astro Megaship
Even the Space Rangers and Galaxy Rangers were worried about Ochako. Though they hadn't met Bakugo, they had heard about the type of person he was from both Connor and Izuku. "An explosive quirk that is best used for long to close range fighting, combined with his personality, he acts more like a villain then a hero in training." Chris admitted, with the other rangers agreeing with him.
Animarium
Even the Wild Force Rangers, Princess Shayla, Jindrax and Toxica had the same feelings as the rangers from space. To them, Bakugo's violent behavior made him unworthy of being a hero and they were all wondering as to why someone like him was allowed entry into UA. Even Natsuo and Fuyumi were baffled as to why a guy like him was allowed into the best Hero School in the country.
Stadium
The crowd in the stands was excited, but the same couldn't be said for the students of Class 1-A. Both Toru and Tsuyu were worried for Ochako, having remembered seeing the power Bakugo displayed during their first combat training class against Izuku, but against someone like Ochako, they didn't know what to expect. Even the lightspeed rangers and Nejire were worried about Ochako, but the one who was worried the most was Izuku.
Down on the field, Ochako took a deep breath, psyching herself up for the fight. If she lost, she could kiss her run in the sports festival goodbye and that was something she wasn't going to let happen. She was going to become a pro, sign with a good agency and make enough money to give her parents an easy life and nothing was going to stand in her way, not even a bully like Bakugo.
"So, you're the one who screws around with gravity, right pink-cheeks?" Bakugo said aloud.
"Pink-cheeks?!" Ochako recoiled. First it was Elgar and now Bakugo was calling her that nickname.
"Well, it doesn't matter. So, you can just give up, cause I'm not holding anything back." Bakugo warned, but Ochako wasn't fazed and matched his glare, earning Bakugo's respect, although he didn't say it.
Up in the stands, Nejire leaned in close to Izuku. "So, what was the strategy you gave your girlfriend?" the bubbly girl asked with a tease.
"It wasn't much of a plan. Kaachan is strong, especially when it comes to close combat. He almost never has any openings, and his quirk is very powerful. The more he moves, the more he sweats and that just makes him more powerful. If she can touch him, she can make him weightless with her quirk and then push him out of the ring." Izuku explained, before he remembered something else that Nejire had said, and it made his face flush red like a tomato. "S-she's not my girlfriend!"
"That means she golden if she can get in close." Denki commented.
"BEGIN!" Mic announced through the loudspeakers.
Uraraka was quick to rush at Bakugo, forcing the boy to counter with explosive infused right hook, a ploy that Ochako knew from his fight with Izuku. Of course, Ochako didn't get away without any damage, one of Bakugo's explosions blew her back, but was still in the fight.
"Ya shoulda dropped outta the match. There's no way you can beat me!" Bakugo growled, his eyes scanning the smoke from first explosion for Uraraka. He caught sight of something blue and white through the smoke and slammed his hand down. "Gotcha! What?" he exclaimed, his eyebrows shooting up as the gravity girl lunged at him from behind, while he used her jacket as a decoy.
"I've got you!" she exclaimed, but Bakugo was able to blast her away with his reflexes.
"She used her jacket as a decoy! That's some incredible thinking!" Mic praised through the speakers.
Undaunted, Ochako rushed Bakugo again. "TOO SLOW!" Bakugo yelled and countered the attack, but Ochako was able to roll out of the way of the blast, then leapt into the air and kicked Bakugo in the chest with both her feet, knocking the explosive user back a few inches, getting Bakugo to give a small smile that was unseen by the spectators.
"Wow, she actually managed to get a hit on Bakugo." Jiro said with amazement.
"Lena and I taught her that." Melissa answered.
"She only got lucky." Shoto said, taking a seat with his classmates. "Bakugo wasn't expecting Uraraka to use her feet as a weapon, so he wasn't able to counter it." the half-and-half user answered.
"But how come she didn't use her quirk to send him out of the ring?" Toru asked.
"Because she has to touch him with her hands." Izuku answered. "If she touches anything with another part of her body, her quirk won't activate." His words made the faces of the rest of his classmates turn pale as ghosts.
Back down in the stadium, Ochako was now covered in minor scraps as Bakugo continued to repel her with a repeated barrage of explosions, causing many in the crowd to believe she was desperate after her faint attack failed, some of them were questioning as to why the teachers weren't putting a stop to the match.
Another relentless barrage of attacks by Bakugo finally made one of the heroes lose his cool and shouted in ire. "This is shameful! Listen, kid, if you really want to be a hero? Then stop acting like a bully! If you're so good, just send her out of bounds! Stop toying with her and end the match!" the hero shouted.
"Yeah, what he said!" another hero, this one a female and dressed like a poodle with her fists in ire. Their shouts caused the crowd to jeer against Bakugo.
"The crowd is booing Bakugo! … And honestly, I can't blame them." Mic said, only to be shoved aside by Aizawa who grabbed the microphone.
"Where is the man who started this uproar? Are you a pro? If you are, then you can go home and hang up your cape. I'd suggest looking into a new line of work. Bakugo's fierceness is an acknowledgement of his opponent's strength. He knows she deserves to have made it this far, so he's making sure that he's doing everything he can to keep her at bay and come out on top." He explained, making the hero sink back down to his seat.
As he explained his reasoning to the pro, Bakugo continued his relentless assault on Uraraka, focusing on his opponent instead of what his teacher and the crowd were saying about him. 'She ain't dead yet, but she's got guts, I'll give her that much, even she is friends with that loser Deku and the rangers.' Bakugo thought to himself.
Up in the box where Nezu and All Might were seated, Diabolico had his own thoughts about the battle. "I'll admit, both Aizawa and that pro make good points, but they have failed to notice Uraraka's strategy. She's keeping herself low to the ground, so Bakugo's attacks would destroy the stage instead. Her repeated attacks are keeping his focus on her instead of her plan." The redeemed demon said.
Back down in the stadium, Ochako breathed hard as she brought her hands together. "I think… it's about time. Thank you, Bakugo… for keeping your eyes on me!" she exclaimed.
Much to the surprise of everyone watching the match, high above them were dozens of pieces of debris created from Bakugo's attacks, which she hurled at him like a meteor shower. 'With this much debris, whether he's evading or attacking, there will be an opening. In that moment, I'll be able to get in close to him! This is it! My shot! I'll win and be just like Deku—' she told herself, using her quirk to make herself weightless, then leapt forward, reaching out to Bakugo.
But before she could even touch her foe, Bakugo unleashed a massive explosion, blowing away every single piece of debris while blowing her back at the same time and caused his hands to shake. "Damn, that was a close call, even for me." Bakugo said aloud, much to the surprise of Ochako who couldn't believe that Bakugo was able to blow away her attack with just one shot. "I'd figured you have some sort of stupid plan to beat me, after all, you are friends with that damn nerd."
On her hands and knees, Ochako stood up, still not ready to throw in the towel, but her energy was spent, betting everything on the meteor shower. Bakugo noticed this and was impressed on the inside. "Time for us to get serious! Uraraka!" he said with a genuine smile.
But Ochako had reached her limit and fell to the ground once more, much to Katsuki's surprise. Even still, she was determined to keep on fighting and crawled towards Bakugo, recalling the memories of how her father encouraged her to become a hero, before finally passing out from exhaustion and her injuries. "Uraraka is KO'd! Bakugo advances to second round!" Midnight announced, after checking the girls pulse.
Skull Cavern
"Man! I was really hoping for pink cheeks to win this round." Elgar said, throwing his arms up in annoyance while spilling his drink on Rito's head when it went flying.
"Hey! Watch where you're throwing things!" Rito scolded, rubbed one of his fingers on his head and put it to his mouth. "Mm, expired root beer. Good."
Olympius however, was focused on Bakugo. The boys quirk was more powerful than he originally thought and if they could capture it, then combine it with the right monster, they could take out the rangers in fell swoop.
UA Stadium
As Uraraka was taken to the infirmary, Bakugo stood and watched her leave the stadium before he left himself. As he headed for the waiting room, he came upon a grief filled Izuku who was on his way to see Ochako, which made him irritated. "I hope you were watching, Deku. Because if you get to the finals, I won't be showing you any mercy. And before you even think about saying that I wasn't showing Uraraka any mercy, she wanted to keep fighting. As far as I'm concerned, it's your fault she ended up like that, considering it was your strategy and…" he began before Izuku cut him off.
"That was all Uraraka's plan. I had nothing to do with it." Izuku corrected. "She came up with the plan all on her own, I didn't give her any advice. If you thought that battle was hard, then that was because of her, not me."
Bakugo just scoffed and headed back to the stands, grabbing a sports drink from the nearby cooler on his way, taking a seat while ignoring the teasing from his students about attacking a frail girl with his full power, but to Bakugo, Ochako was anything but frail. His mind, however, was focused on who his next opponent would be for the finals. 'If I go up against Deku, I'll show him what a real hero in the making looks like. Him and those stupid rangers.' He thought to himself.
At the same time, Izuku made his way to the waiting room where Ochako was and to his surprise, she wasn't disappointed at all. "Man, I lost. Too bad." She said sheepishly while rubbing the back of her head.
"Uraraka?" Izuku said in confusion.
"Oh, Deku! Hey. Man, you weren't kidding when you said Bakugo was strong. Guess I got carried away at the end. I thought I had it in the bag." Ochako replied with a smile on her face. "Oh well, nothing I can do about it now. Guess that means I just have to work harder."
"Y-yeah. I-I guess w-we b-both h-have to w-work harder." The quirk inheritor stammered, before taking a deep breath to collect himself. "Listen, Uraraka. I think you did an amazing job out there. Sure, you lost, and we both know what Kachan is strong, but he's not unbeatable."
"What do you mean?" the gravity girl asked, confused.
"I always thought Kachan was amazing, since he had a quirk and I kind of admired him, even if he is a bully. But I still have hope that he can be a hero, and that's why I have to beat him." Izuku said with a fierce look in his eyes. "He thinks he's the best, but there will always be those who are stronger than him, even if he doesn't see it that way. That's why, if I end up facing him in the second round, I'll beat him, not just for me, but for you as well."
"Aw, thanks Deku." Ochako said with a smile, just as they both looked up to see that Kirishima had won the arm-wrestling match against Tetsutesu and was moving onto round two. After Izuku had left the waiting room, Ochako grabbed her phone and noticed that she missed a call from her father, which she promptly returned. "Hey, daddy. Sorry for not picking up earlier."
"You don't need to apologize! In fact, I should be apologizing for calling you when you're so busy. Your mom and I watched your match on TV. You almost Won! You were amazing sweetheart." Her father praised.
"It wasn't that close. And I wasn't that good… I rushed into it too much, especially at the end." Ochako affirmed, trying to hold back her feelings about losing her match. "I didn't even have a back up plan if my big move didn't work. I failed."
"Honey, it's true that you lost, but that doesn't mean you can't become a pro hero. I might not have the best understanding of these things and how they work, but there's always next year. So don't go thinking this is the end." Her father encouraged.
"I just… I wish I could have gotten farther." Ochako went on, her voice starting to break. "I wish… I had more chances to show what I'm made of. The scouts… they barely saw me do anything this round."
"Are you in that much of a rush?" her father questioned.
"It's… I-I wanna help you guys out as soon as I can." Ochako said, on the verge of tears.
"Ochako, you don't need to rush things. The fact that you feel that way shows that you'll be a kind and caring hero one day. And I couldn't be prouder of you, you know that don't you?" Ochako's father told her, finally making her cry. "Now go back up to the stands, your friend is going to want your support for his match. So, cheer loudly for him."
"Hic- thanks daddy. I will, goodbye, I love you." Ochako said, wiping the tears from her eyes and headed back to the stands.
And that concludes this chapter.
I'm thinking I'll skip right to the match between Izuku and Bakugo next. Yes, you heard right, Izuku is going to be facing Bakugo in the next match and then we'll get to Shoto's Origins. I haven't forgotten about that.
Exciting news for us gamers! Doom: The Dark Ages has dropped its trailer and Starship Troopers: Extermination is coming to the Xbox and Playstation! Oh, I can't wait for those games, along with Black Ops Six and Star Wars: Outlaws. The first two I need to pre-order.
It appears that Jason has with him another piece of ranger history and if you haven't noticed, I dropped a few hints of Shoto possibly becoming a ranger? Which one could he become?
Now, before I finish, I need your help. You all remember that Gina person who spammed my stories? The one who I warned you about? Well, she's been stalking a friend of mine for the last seven years and is trying to do everything she can to make her life miserable and, I'm sad to say, commit suicide or find a way to kill her. My friend is practically living in fear because of this woman and is actually even considering suicide. I'm doing all I can to help her, but I think she needs more people to let her know that she matters and that no one should ever have to face someone like her. I want her to know that she's never alone. That she does matter and that no matter what someone says, she is a wonderful person.
If you want to help me help her, send me a PM.
Well, until next time, please read and review. And have a great 4th of July weekend, but watch out for sharks.
