Chapter 20
There was a buzz in the convention, centre, so many people all excited to attend Comic Con, the whole place was full of numerous people, some cosplaying, other simply enjoying the surroundings, all the stands, everything that came with the typical day at Comic Con. But there was a special buzz around the event this time, namely at one special stand that had been set up, arrangements had been made and there was a lot of hype around this particular section of the event. Amongst the crowd gathered at this particular part, actually managing to get right up to the front was Sam. He grinned, eager for this event, the anticipation was killing him.
'Man I just hope...I mean, the last time I saw Spider-Man he saved me from Rhino and Scorpion and there wasn't much time to talk about or think about certain things. But this time, oh man…'
A blush stole up his cheeks as he recalled that one embarrassing detail that came from his rescue from Chameleon, it was bad enough thinking about his mom seeing him tied up and gagged in his undies, but his superhero crush had seen it too and now he was going to be seeing said crush up close and personal when there wasn't any danger to distract them.
He did his best to clear those thoughts from his mind as the man running the stand began talking into a microphone.
"Okay everyone, we're ready to begin, now remember there is plenty of time, make time for everyone, this will be an autograph and picture session, now let's welcome our guest of honor." He said, drawing applause and cheers from the audience. "Spider-Man!"
Deciding to make an entrance, rather than come from behind a curtain, Spidey swung down from one of the upper levels, landing with a flip and made a perfect three point landing, using his free hand to give a thumbs up just before the cameras flashed, including Sam's as he grinned, already in full fanboy mode.
"Some of you sound surprised, sorry about that." Spidey quipped. "I can't resist a good entrance."
He straightened up and approached the table properly.
"So, ready to begin?" He asked.
There were choruses of people cheering and replying in the affirmative and soon things began, people approaching the young hero for autographs, photos, sometimes both and things were certainly going well. Sam waited for a bit, still with anticipation building, but finally he stepped forwards.
"Ah, Sam, how are you?" Spider-Man greeted him, surprising most in the crowd.
Sam flushed, his fully fanboy mode almost going into overdrive at being personally addressed. "Doing good, still never got a chance to properly thank you for saving my life, twice."
Spider-Man nodded. "Always a pleasure, you know that."
He had to admit however, he was feeling guilty inside, the only reason Sam was in danger from those three supervillains was they were targeting him for the assassination scheme. But he kept up his good cheer and posed for a selfie with Sam, autographing the photo too, but that wasn't all that Sam had in mind.
He waited off to the side as the rest of the crowd all got their autographs and pictures, Spidey had noticed him and glanced in his direction, but Sam shook his head, he wanted to do this in private. Spidey accepted this and continued things until finally the session was over. After a few heartfelt words of farewell the crowd dispersed, the man running things thanked Spidey and went to talk to some of the organizers while Spider-Man turned to Sam and approached him.
"Hey, so, what's up?"
Sam felt his face heat up and he bit his lip, trying to find the words, he couldn't help but feel embarrassed again.
"I just, oh man this is awkward. I still feel so embarrassed from when you saved me from Chameleon." Sam admitted.
Spider-Man tiled his head. "Embarrassed?"
Sam nodded. "You know, you and mom saved me while I was, well, only dressed in…"
"Ah." Spider-Man replied, feeling awkward himself. "Well, don't worry, I don't think we really noticed, after all we had other things on our minds. Don't forget your mom did put herself between Chameleon's gun and you."
Sam smiled. "Yeah, I know, I still feel bad that I put her in that position, but she said she'd do it again in a heartbeat."
"That's good, so...I guess this isn't the only thing you wanted to talk about?" Spider-Man asked.
"Nope." Sam admitted, before he pulled something out and held it out. "Um, I...I made this for you, wanted you to have. I mean, I don't-"
Spidey examined the object and couldn't help but smile under his mask, seeing the gift Sam was presenting to him, a friendship bracelet with Sam's name on it and bunch of Spidey themed beads.
"It's incredible, thank you, I'll gladly accept it." He replied gratefully.
Sam felt relief and watched in delight as Spidey took the bracelet and put it on. A short while later, Spider-Man left, glad that the event had gone so well.
Making his way across rooftops, swinging and even walking down the side of buildings and over water towers and such, the reason he was moving so absently, he was on his phone, with Sam, although Sam didn't realize this, as he was texting Jamie.
"OMG, dude check out the picture, I got to take a selfie with Spider-Man, I also gave him that gift I mentioned, he liked it, it was so awesome."
Spider-Man smiled lightly and slipped into character. "Wow, that's awesome dude, just sorry I couldn't join you at Comic Con. How did those pictures you took of Spider-Man fighting Rhino and Scorpion go over at the Bugle?"
There was a brief moment before Sam replied. "Oh, it was good, Robby was thrilled, even paid me a bonus. That said there is something else I do need to work on photographing...maybe you could come and give me a hand, or at least hang out. It's at the rally tomorrow, Mayor Sanders and Osborn."
Spider-Man pondered for a moment before making up his mind. "Sure, I'll be there, don't worry about it, thanks for the heads up."
He smiled but decided now would be a good time to stop texting and swinging. That said he saw Sam's grateful reply before he did so and continued heading home, considering his options for tomorrow. Deciding in the end it would be for the best to go in his civilian guise.

Seated in his office, Norman Osborn smirked as he sat, he was ready for the debate tomorrow. True, he couldn't openly revealed what he had uncovered, but that didn't mean he couldn't hint and make some pointed comments, most notably about what Mayor Sanders was doing regarding his clearly under the table partnership with Wilson Fisk. Norman looked over at the drive that held the information, he was more than ready for the debate tomorrow. He was going to tilt things heavily in his advantage at last.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
