Melone71009: "I like"
I like too.
Johnduffy7878: "
Gabriel seems kinda overpowered.. random oc stronger then 95% of all sorcerers can casually wipe out a country idk if even sakuna did anything that powerful"
Strong? Yes. Overpowered? Maybe. Keep in mind that you are reading an OC story, so no OC is really random, especially when it comes to worldbuilding. Anyway, this is absolutely not a casual feat. Though not stated for the sake of mystique, Gabriel has undergone a binding vow to literally burn away everything in exchange for power; this includes his life. Also, this man could not destroy a country; he has at most 5 minutes of this 'Adult Gon' like form before he literally burns to ash.
Just an Anime Fan: "What's up with this family confidence? Do they have a new toji, or something like the inverted spear of heaven, but stronger? Because otherwise, Why are Archer and Gabriel thinking they're able to kill Gojo that's known for being the strongest in the world, when they're not even special grade?
Also I wonder, what if Adam makes his own kind of flames at one point? Maybe as a variation of black flash"
They don't have a Toji, and I don't think it was ever stated they believed they could beat Gojo. Yes, they do have a tool like that, it was shown in the last chapter; and I quote
"His awe turned to annoyance as he felt his impenetrable shield be burned away." This is Gojo becoming annoyed at the fact his infinity was being burned away by the special grade cursed tool Prometheus' flame.
Gojo is known for being the strongest in the world in Japan. Only people who have connections to the country directly like some of the Revine's really know he exists because of Tengen's barriers blocking any potential presence he may have had overseas.
Gabriel and Archer would 100% be able to defeat a special grade cursed spirit, they are both grade 1 sorcerers, and many sorcerers of that rank have been seen fighting and outputting enough power to defeat special grade spirits. Hell, Todo did it on the Night Parade of Hundred Demons.
Adam having flames could be cool, but I don't think I have such a thing planned until much later, if at all. I need him to develop far more before I add such a thing to his repertoire. I mean, the entire reason he is in Japan is because he doesn't have flames; giving them to him without proper development first would make it all worthless.
"King Arthur's Excalibur, the sword that proves his rightful sovereignty over Britain." Gojo read calmly. "It was given to him by 'A Lady of the Lake' and hosts several powerful magical abilities; what we would consider curse-based abilities." He turned his head towards Adam, who was listening intently while practising with his spear. "Are you following so far?"
"Yeah." Adam shoved the tip of his weapon forward, immediately retracting it to his side before launching into another attack. "What sort of abilities do they have written there?" Gojo snorted quietly, causing his student to frown. "What?"
"I'm reading off of Wikipedia, there's nothing like that on here." The white-haired man waved around his phone lazily before returning it to his field of view. "Since nobody has really used it in combat that we know of, we need to draw our own conclusions about its abilities based on King Arthur's legend. 'It slices through steel as though wood; which means it's probably crazy sharp."
Adam rolled his eyes as he slipped into another stance. "I could've guessed that based on it being a special-grade cursed tool." His spear shot out again. "Anything else?"
"There's information on its sheath, I guess. 'Avalon' is what it's called, and it apparently 'will not allow its possessor to bleed out from wounds'. That hints at some sentience, but the page author could just be adding flavour text to make it seem grand." Gojo answered patiently.
"I'm trying not to jump to conclusions here, but what you're reading makes it sound like it just cuts good." Adam threw his spear back into his inventory and walked towards his mentor.
"While I doubt that's all it does, we can only go off of what's written here. If we want anything else, we'll have to actually read a bunch of Arthurian legends; and those are greatly exaggerated." Gojo reached to the floor and held out a bottle for his student to take.
"Most are." Adam took the water bottle his teacher offered and twisted the cap off. "Maybe we could theorize in a more…figurative sense? Like, King Arthur was the sole monarch of England during that time and therefore controlled the people; so it could be some sort of brainwashing ability."
"I highly doubt that's the case; an ability like that would fit an artefact like Merlin's wand far more than it would Arthur's sword," Gojo replied smoothly. "It'd help if it was in front of us." He added immediately after.
"Well, then you'd just cheat by looking at it with those eyes of yours." Adam pointed out with a snort. Gojo sent a knowing smile his way before shrugging.
"You gotta use all the tools at your disposal." He said wistfully. Several moments passed before he added to his statement. "There are infinite possibilities when it comes to Excalibur's abilities, we'll just have to see what happens when you receive it."
The dust that was surrounding his coffin was blown away with a single swipe. Adam grasped the hilt of his weapon tightly, his fingers sitting comfortably above the blanket of worn leather that was wrapped around its handle. The fresh skin of the boy's fingers was still sensitive, causing pain whenever he moved even slightly, but he'd never felt more comfortable in his life.
'It's not hot anymore.' He realized boredly. Adrenaline caused his heart to pound and his ears to ring, but his mind was serene. 'And my hands are healed…'
'You better make it out of this…because there's someone I want you to meet.'
'From here on out it's all up to you, my precious student.'
'And I can hear their voices.' His right foot stepped forward, soon followed by his left; it wasn't long before his figure was exposed to open air once again. 'The flames are gone.'
Pristine silver shone in the morning sun's rays, lighting the area in a beautiful golden glow that had only been described in legends. Adam bent his wrist upwards, raising his hand to the sky; his eyes were forced to squint due to the bright golden glow. "It's you…"

-New skill formed! Sword handling [1/100]-
The user's ability to wield weapons of the sword variety in combat.
"Excalibur!" Adam's eyes trailed away from the sword and towards his opponent. "What is that thing doing here?! It was supposed to be on the other side!" Gabriel shouted angrily.
Instead of the flames he'd been exuding previously, his body was merely smoking. Black plates resembling concrete were the last of what could be considered skin on his body, the cracks in between each one revealing angry red muscles writhing beneath the skin like worms.
"Unless…you planned this!" Gabriel's insane yelling was accompanied by several swishes of his head, his dried-out eyes scanning his surroundings incessantly. "You punched…no, you pushed me over here to get closer to the sword! That's why you delayed your healing too! You were tricking me!"
Adam snorted once, twice, before he exploded into laughter. Gabriel stepped forward angrily, only for his foot to crumble as it hit the floor; he stumbled for a moment before slamming onto the ground with a quiet crack. "Stop laughing!"
"Hahaha…sorry, sorry, it's just too funny," Adam replied. "Ahh, I needed to laugh like that; thank you." He breathed out a small, gleeful sigh. "I'm being completely honest when I say I didn't have a single plan here; your abilities completely countered mine." Several threads formed in his left hand, each one shooting towards the crate he'd been thrown into before dragging themselves back to their master; with them came a brown leather sheath. Dotted along its side were dozens of golden sun trinkets, with each side of the object being capped off with a gold casing; the top also being connected to a small clip.
As Avalon made contact with Adam's hand, the boy was suddenly coated in a bright golden glow. "I didn't delay my healing, I simply couldn't heal any longer. You really pushed me to the brink." He admitted casually. Gabriel gritted his teeth in fury, but when he tried to claw his way towards Adam, his hand fell to pieces as it hit the ground. "The remaining embers of my cursed energy were all being spent to reinforce my body enough just to survive being near you; there was nothing to spare that I could use to heal." With a flick of his wrist, Avalon flew from his hand and collided with Gabriel's back. "Here, it'll stop you from dying while we talk."
"D-Don't pity me!" He desperately tried to roll over to rid the object of his presence, but with his body as weak as it was, it turned out to be an impossible endeavour. "I don't need your pity, you filthy mongrel!" The same golden glow that had appeared over Adam washed over his body as he continued to yell.
Adam ignored the insults that were subsequently thrown his way as he turned towards his stat page and placed Excalibur inside. "It's not pity." He eventually responded. "I just don't want your death on my conscience." Gojo appeared by his side a moment later, a small smile on his face.
"Good job." He said simply. "You managed to keep property damage to a minimum; the few crates destroyed can be replaced by the government later." Adam glanced at his mentor's palm, which held a flaming torch within its grasp.
"I thought the tornado would do more damage; are you telling me all he managed to accomplish was lifting some boxes?" Adam's voice dripped with amusement as he flicked a thumb towards the man he had been fighting previously. Gabriel grumbled in rage as he felt his right arm crumble to ashes; a byproduct of slamming it into the floor. "Oi, don't do that, we still need you for stuff." Adam chided dryly.
Avalon's glow brightened slightly, an action Gojo sensed immediately as he walked towards Gabriel with a scowl. The white-haired man reached out to take the object, but an arc of light zapped his finger. "Wow, that thing is angry."
"Just protective." Adam corrected with a smile. He followed his mentor's path and stood on Gabriel's left side, just within arm's reach. "It's weird, really, I can kinda feel something from them. Like, you know when you just have a gut instinct about the time of day?" Gojo nodded. "That sort of thing."
"So a link of some kind…maybe that's why it managed to get here so fast." Gojo theorized. Sensing the questioning gaze he was receiving from his pupil, he quickly elaborated. "The original drop-off date was October 29th, but we know from your family history that Excalibur always finds a way to make it to its next owner as quickly as possible."
"Like when it appeared in my ancestor's pantry?" Adam asked patiently.
"Exactly like that." Gojo kicked Gabriel in the ribs lightly, causing his boot to become covered in flakes of ash. "You, Revine boy, what was your original mission here?"
"Why the fuck would I tell you?" Gabriel spat out. The stream of insults he growled out as he felt his leg crushed gave him enough time to rethink his answer. "We were here to grab the sword and kill him if it were possible. It was supposed to be locked up in his whore of a mother's–" His other leg was crushed by Gojo. "His mother's room." He corrected furiously.
"Not with my auntie? Or my uncle?" Adam asked curiously. "I thought they were the head of the house after my mother died." Gabriel clicked his tongue annoyedly.
"As if those useless sacks of meat would become head." He said dismissively. "Irresponsible, naive, rude, nothing a head of the house should be. I bet they're spending their inheritance from your mother to travel through Spain or something right now." A small, feral grin slipped onto his face as he looked up at Adam. "Let me out of here with the sword, and I can bring you their heads."
Adam looked at his teacher in confusion. "Did we travel back to the French Revolution? I thought it fell out of fashion to decapitate your enemies a while ago."
Gojo shrugged tiredly. "I wish that's how it was; I still get requests and offers from families trying to hire me or get into my favour all the time. Clans just generally operate in an old fashion."
"Wow…that's odd." Adam looked down at Gabriel with a frown. "No thanks, I'll pass. Anything else you want to tell us before we kill you?"
Gabriel smiled smugly as his remaining hand snapped around Adam's ankle, a bright glow enveloping his body as it began to crumble. "Yeah, just one thing. Your father says hi."
"Adam!" Gojo yelled, his composure breaking as Gabriel glowed a bright red.
"The tornado is gone…" Kugisaki said slowly. Her eyes narrowed as she focused towards the top of where the phenomenon had previously been. "What's that blue orb?" Both Fushigoro and Itadori followed her gaze, Fushigoro's eyes widening slightly in realization.
"Gojo, that's one of his techniques." He answered immediately. The blue orb disappeared, and for several minutes, all seemed well.
Until.
Gojo appeared at their side, his single hand shot up as he placed a barrier over the three and himself. "Everyone, duck!" Not a moment later, the equivalent of an F5 tornado's worth of wind pressure was dispersed across Tokyo as a pillar of flames erupted from ground to sky.
Clouds were brushed aside as the pillar of destruction blasted straight through them and off into the atmosphere, leaving behind a strong smell of ozone and a hole quickly filled with water.
The three first-year students of Jujutsu Tech currently on campus had their jaws hanging far below where they should've been. Their shock was in great contrast to their teacher's grit teeth, an expression that was immediately explained after Fushigoro asked the question in his mind.
"Was Adam with you?"
"For fucks sake." Adam floated in the void with a deep scowl. "That's two within 30 days; at this rate, I might actually die for real." With a loud sigh, he pressed the accept button to return to life.
-New skill formed! Fire resistance [1/100]-
The user's resistance to flame/heat-based attacks.
Heat based damage negation: 1%
-New skill formed! Binding vow creation [1/100]-
Binding vows are contracts made between sorcerers and themselves based on certain parameters. Breaking these vows can have disastrous repercussions.
(0/1 slots filled)
A final, third skill appeared before Adam's eyes before he was separated from the void and sent back into the real world.
He woke up in a crevice between two fallen containers, his entire body covered in dirt and soot. Several minutes passed as he lay on the ground, simply organizing his thoughts; an arduous task certainly, considering his bare back was spread across such rough terrain. "Even if he didn't know I'd survive, he certainly managed to pull one over me." The boy said with a sigh.
His eyes trailed down his own body as he made his way to his feet; thankfully, he was unharmed, but the same couldn't be said for his clothes. "I hope fire resistance applies to what I'm wearing as well." Adam prayed quietly. He shuffled uncomfortably in place as he felt the cold sea breeze brush against his skin. "And my phone got destroyed as well…" Adam groaned in annoyance as he began to make his way towards some of the other shipping containers around him. "Hopefully somebody had some clothes delivered here."
"I'm not putting in my report until the other sorcerer on the case gets back." Principal Yaga sighed as his white-haired employee continued to pout from across his desk.
Gojo sat with his arms and legs crossed, pouting like a child as he kept his eye contact anywhere but near the principal. It'd barely been 30 minutes after Gabriel's defeat, and he'd been planning to wait until Adam got back (if he did) before making his report. Those short 30 minutes were filled with mountains of anxiety tickling the back of his mind while he focused on assuring his students that everything was fine; the same couldn't be said for the public, but the higher-ups could deal with that mess.
"Satoru, please, don't make this hard for the both of us. I know you're hurt after losing one of your students–"
"He's not dead."
"Let me finish, you brat." Yaga's voice was uncharacteristically sombre, a stark contrast to his usual hard-ass persona. "I know you had high hopes for him, and I know how protective you can get over your students, but you have to stay realistic."
"I know he's alive," Gojo replied immediately. "He has to be." Unless complete and utter obliteration was too much for his cursed technique to handle, Adam's ability should bring him back to life. Even then, the boy had a contingency in place for if that were the case; a contingency that was put into play immediately when he saw his cousin begin to glow.
"Look, Satoru, I'm being honest here when I say I don't know what is so special about that kid, but I trust your judgment." Gojo began to interrupt, but his teacher put up a silencing palm. "Nevertheless, it doesn't matter how special you deem his ability to be; you have to face reality." Yaga tapped a finger on his table to grab his student's attention. "You still have 3 students to teach, don't get hung up on the passing of one and neglect the others."
"I wouldn't–"
"You would, and you have been." Yaga reached towards the right side of his desk and opened up a laptop. "If we look at your student's track records, there is a large disparity between them." His fingers ran along the keyboard as he put in his overly complicated password. "Itadori Yuji, current completed assignments, 4. 2 of which were supervised by your other students rather than yourself."
"They were off of school grounds for a day trip! Do you expect me to babysit my students when they go out for something as simple as shopping?" Yaga shook his head as if to negate the point. "Then what do you want me to do about that? And, 4 assignments in 3 days is an impressive number!"
"For normal students, incredibly so. But these are your students; and if you'd just shut up and wait for me to explain, you'd see the problem." Yaga's voice began to grow slightly darker with every word spoken. "Kugisaki Nobara, 2 assignments, only one of which was supervised by you." Gojo opened his mouth to interrupt, but Yaga sent him a stern glare that almost seemed like a challenge. "Now, I'll only be counting the other two assignments from the past 2 days. Fushigoro Megumi, 9 assignments; Adam Revine, 11 assignments. Do you see the problem?" Yaga flipped around his laptop as proof, his mouse cursor hovering over the 4 numbers he specified.
"Yeah, you use Excel instead of Sheets." Gojo retorted childishly. His teacher frowned momentarily before shaking his head.
"Don't play dumb, Satoru." He flipped back around his laptop and shut it down. "You've given almost a dozen assignments to two of your students, while the other ones spend time studying or lounging around in their rooms." Yaga slid the device to the side and placed his elbows on the table, all ten of his fingers linked together in front of his mouth. "Why?"
Gojo's face dropped slightly, almost looking like a dog who'd just been reprimanded by their owner. "I'm not playing favourites." He immediately assured. "The other two just simply don't have the experience Adam and Megumi do."
"Kugisaki has been a sorcerer for more than 2 years now; her level may not match the other 2, but experience is not an excuse you can use," Yaga replied calmly. "You see, I've actually received a request from both Itadori and Kugisaki for their training to be increased. I was quite surprised to learn that they thought it was something they had to ask me for and not their teacher." Yaga's words made the white-haired's mouth drop.
"I…see. I'll make sure to up their training and assignments." He agreed quietly. "But you have to understand that I haven't had enough time to see where they're at; sure, I've worked with both Adam and Megumi for long periods, but I can't be sure that Itadori or Kugisaki have that same stamina just yet." Gojo justified.
Yaga nodded seriously and booted up his laptop once again. "I'm glad you can tell where your faults lie, Satoru. A small part of me expected you to hang onto your point of view until the bitter end."
" 'The bitter end' being you firing me?" Gojo asked cautiously.
Yaga didn't grace his student with an answer, but it didn't take a genius to figure out that Gojo's guess was correct. The pair sat in silence for a sparse few moments while Yaga typed on his keyboard. "Alright, I have just changed up your student's plans for the next while." Gojo narrowed his eyes, an action hidden from the principal's view because of his blindfold.
"How have you changed them? And when are these changes taking place?" Usually, Gojo would fight tooth and nail to keep his independent position, but he felt he owed the principal a slight amount of leeway with how he'd been behaving as of late.
"Next week will be the star," Yaga replied immediately. Mentally, a grin was plastered on his face; Principal Gakuganji was truly reliable when it came to email correspondence. "You will be taking care of two of the Kyoto students while Adam and Fushigoro will be sent to the Kyoto school for the week."
"Which students? And who will be looking after them?" Gojo's voice was serious because he'd never again take his student's safety for granted; not after Adam's first death.
"Utahime Iori will be in charge of their classes, and the two sent over here will be Todo Aoi and Nitta Arata. They were slated to go to Hokkaido for a long investigation with Atsuya, but instead, they'll be coming here." Yaga replied smoothly.
"If you think I've been neglecting two of my students, what makes you think I won't neglect these new two as well?" Even if he was giving the principal a bone, he still had his right to be snarky after the man had insulted his teaching.
"Because you won't be able to," Yaga answered. "Those two will be shadowing all of your classes for the week they are here; and if there are none slated for that day, they will be conducting investigations alongside your other 2 students."
"So I literally won't be able to ignore them…" Gojo huffed out a sigh. "Fine, I agree. Even if a weakling like Utahime is in charge, my kids should still be able to handle themselves."
"I'd recommend not insulting her, but I already know you won't listen." Yaga continued to tap away on his keyboard for several minutes while Gojo stared at the ceiling in thought. "You two can hash out the details when you see each other tomorrow anyway." A small blush crept up on the white-haired man's face; a blush that was immediately brushed away when the door to Yaga's office was kicked open.
Gojo, who had been too lost in thought to spread out his senses, quickly turned around to face the new arrival. Yaga, who had been communicating with Gakuganji, looked up from his laptop; his jaw promptly dropped.
Adam stood there, in all of his glory. One of his feet was still shot out; luckily, the bed sheet he'd wrapped around himself draped far enough down his body that it blocked the lower half of his body from sight. His foot dropped down, and his body followed immediately after once he positioned himself in front of a chair.
Gojo barked out a laugh, his hand already beginning to slap his student's back. "See, old man?! I told ya he'd be here!" Adam shrugged off the man's hand and turned to him with an annoyed scowl.
"You left me there!" The boy unconsciously shivered as a breeze passed through the room. "Do you know how goddamn embarrassing it is to walk through the most popular part of Tokyo while in a goddamn bedsheet?!" Gojo laughed heartily and slapped the boy's back again. Adam was about to continue his rant, but Yaga interrupted with a stern, polite cough.
"While I have my questions about your survival, I think we should get to the bottom of what the hell happened…" Yaga looked at the time on the corner of his laptop. "Just an hour ago. Would you like to explain?"
1 hour prior, 3 seconds before Gabriel's self-destruction
Gabriel's body glowed a bright red, his ashy skin turning almost translucent as his organs began to expand and rupture. Adam tore his eyes away from his cousin's body as he felt his instincts kick into overdrive. Even if he knew his cursed technique would bring him back to life, he couldn't stop the blaring alarm in his mind telling him destruction would spell the end for him.
He watched as his teacher's eyes widened in alarm as Adam straightened the fingers of his right arm into a blade shape. "Sensei, I'll see you later." With a small smile, Adam lopped off his arm and immediately snatched it out of the air.
2 seconds
Adam poured the remainder of his cursed energy into his right arm, enhancing the muscles enough for him to be able to throw it far enough away for it to survive.
But this came at a cost.
Without his energy reinforcing his body, Adam's skin immediately burned to smithereens. First went his foot, forcing him to one knee; he watched his teacher clap his hands while his remaining arm reached for Avalon. Gabriel repositioned his hand, desperately trying to clamber further up his disowned cousin's body for his double suicide attempt to succeed.
1 second
Adam scrambled for Avalon's scabbard, his right hand barely making contact as Gabriel's body expanded grotesquely; not dissimilar to a toad's throat expanding as they croaked. The movement caused Avalon to shift, its form falling off of Gabriel's body and further away from Adam.
'Shit! I can't touch him now, he's way too damn volatile!' Adam gritted his teeth as he felt his upper thigh disintegrate under Gabriel's superheated grasp. 'But I need that scabbard!' He felt Gabriel's hand rise once again, and his eyes widened in horror as he felt his intestines burn to cinders under Gabriel's grasp. A loud, pain-filled cry escaped the boy's throat as Gabriel's body lurched again.
0.5 seconds
"I'll…kill you!" Gabriel screamed. Instead of reaching for Avalon once again, Adam gritted his teeth and smiled.
"Same to you, asshole! Clench your teeth, cause' this one's gonna fucking hurt!" With his remaining arm, instead of reaching for Avalon once again, Adam raised it far above his head.
0.1 seconds
"DIE!"
"BLACK FLASH!"
Their world exploded.
"That's how I remember it ending, at least," Adam said whimsically. "I have no idea where Avalon flew off to in the explosion; could be in the sea, or the city, or with some random window somewhere. I can still feel it out there, so I know it wasn't destroyed." The boy shrugged before reaching into his inventory and pulling out Excalibur. "At least I got this guy out of it."
"Speaking of which, how did you get out of it?" Yaga asked patiently. He knew from experience that young, inexperienced sorcerers and students liked to relish their tales, but Adam's report was starting to get a bit unrealistic. A fiery tornado? An explosion that eviscerated a large portion of the seaport that he was at the epicentre of and just managed to survive? Not the most realistic tale, in his opinion.
Adam looked to his teacher, and the man simply nodded; before the white-haired boy could speak, however, his teacher interrupted. "With this incident, and with the feats I've seen my student complete before today, I formally recommend Adam Pendragon for the position of first-grade sorcerer."
Yaga froze.
Adam froze.
It felt like the world froze.
Friday, June 8th, 2018.
At approximately 4:38 am, 15% of Tokyo sea port was eradicated in a curse-related incident.
Special grade sorcerer and grade 3 sorcerer Gojo Satoru and Adam Pendragon were on the scene during the time of the incident.
Available windows claim they could not get close enough to see details due to the sheer heat surrounding the area; recordings taken at the nearest safe distance were reported as over 200 degrees Celsius.
As a result of this incident, Gojo Satoru has recommended Adam Pendragon for the position of grade 1 sorcerer.
