Episode 60: A Sight for Saurhead!
Just then, the purple Infinity Stone floated up from the debris and hovered in midair glowing brightly. Hammerhead's eyes gleamed as he stepped around the dinosaur-like creature and reached his hand out to the stone. But as he did, a spray of green acid fired from out of the darkness burning his hand. This was immediately followed by Spidermin swinging past him on a web and grabbing the Infinity Stone in the process.
"Spidermin!" Peter exclaimed. "You're still alive, and learned Acid Web!"
Flinching in pain from his burning hand, Hammerhead looked over at the dinosaur-like creature behind. "Go get that bug, Saurhead!"
The dinosaur-like creature snorted from its slit-shaped nostrils and started to run toward Spidermin, who had landed the wall perpendicular from the one that got destroyed. But as the Saurhead picked up speed, its brick-shaped head gleamed as it smashed into the wall Spidermin landed on. Luckily, Spidermin shot another web into the rafters and climbed up still holding the Infinity Stone. In response, Saurhead roared angrily as its tail flicked back and forth.
"Your little bug friend may think he's safe, but my Saurhead's Hitman ability allows him to hone in on his target," Hammerhead said to Peter. Then he pointed at the rafters, "Saurhead, get up those shelves and bring me the Infinity Stone!"
Obediently, Saurhead tried to climb one of the shelves that lined the evidence room in vertical rows. But his small arms didn't get him enough strength to climb the shelves.
Grumbling, Hammerhead glanced at Black Cat. "Would you mind grabbing the Infinity Stone for me, sweetheart? The Nova Corps will send reinforcements any minute."
Black Cat got up, holding Blaccet tightly. "Get it yourself. I'm leaving."
Then Black Cat took a smoke bomb from her utility belt and threw it on the ground. Hammerhead, Peter, Panther, and Saurhead were briefly blinded by the smoke as they heard lithe footsteps race for the locked door. Immediately, Hammerhead picked up the Tommy Gun he had been carrying. But just as he was about to fire it, Panthack leaped onto him and wrestled the gun away from him.
"Excellent work, Panthack," Panther congratulated.
Suddenly, Panther was assaulted by Saurhead. Though Peter managed to roll out of the way, he watched as Panther struggled against Saurhead with pure strength. Meanwhile, Panthack was trying to keep Hammerhead down.
"As much as I would like to stick around, I'm going to take this as my queue to leave too," Peter said as he stood up and dusted himself off.
He ran to the locked door, where Spidermin dropped on his shoulder with the Infinity Stone. But Black Cat wasn't present. Looking up, Peter saw a hole in the ceiling.
"I guess Blaccet had enough strength for one more Grapple Hook," Peter guessed. "Though I don't see why we can't use the hole to escape."
Nodding in agreement, Spidermin used Web Shot to launch Peter up to the hole. Crawling on his hands and knees, he made his way through an air vent until he found an opening. He peeked his head up and saw Black Cat with her free hand up while across from her stood an old man with silver-gray hair pointing a gun at Black Cat's head. Behind the old man was a green helicopter with the trademark octopus insignia of Team HYDRA.
"Where is Hammerhead?" Asked the old man.
"He's still in the evidence room, Silvermane, trying to get the Infinity Stone," Black Cat lied.
"Then tell him to hurry up," Silvermane ordered. "Our Team HYDRA colleagues can only do so much to keep the Nova Corps guards at bay. And once they send in the Star Blasters, we're basically finished."
"Yeah, sure," Black Cat said as she prepared to turn around.
"But before you go, I want you to give me the flash-drive with Don Fortunato's data," Silvermane said. "And just to make sure you're not going to pull any tricks, put your Marémon inside its PDB."
Reluctantly, Black Cat placed Blaccet inside her PDB as Silvermane instructed. Then she held up the flash-drive before throwing it to Silvermane, who caught it in his bony hand.
At that moment, Peter's phone rang from a hidden pocket in his suit. He looked at the caller ID, and seeing it was from MJ he ducked further back into the vent and answered.
"MJ, why are you calling me?" Peter whispered. "I'm in a really bad situation right now."
"So am I, dummy!" MJ snapped. But then he heard her gasp.
"Who are you talking to?" said an unnatural voice on the other end of MJ's phone.
"N-No one," MJ said and hung up.
"Hello? MJ?" Peter said, and tried calling her again. "MJ!"
"Come out from the vent!" Shouted Silvermane. "If you don't, I'll shoot the girl!"
Peter froze with fear. He knew MJ was in trouble, but knowing who Black Cat was made him not want her to get hurt either. As if he sensed his uneasiness, Spidermin crawled up next to Peter and gave him the Infinity Stone.
"It's rumored the Power Infinity Stone can make one stronger," Peter murmured. "With this, I could save those I care about…but at what cost?"
Before Peter could make a decision, a series of rumbles made the vent shake causing him and Spidermin to lose balance. Then a cry was heard, followed by Black Cat crawling into the vent towards Peter.
"We have to get out," Black Cat said urgently. "The Star Blasters are shooting the rooftop, which distracted Silvermane enough for me to escape his grasp and take this back."
From her wrist, Black Cat produced the flash-drive. Then her eyes narrowed on the Infinity Stone in Peter's hand.
"You should get rid of it," Black Cat insisted. "I may be a thief, but I don't toy around with stuff like that. We can drop the stone off—"
"So you don't care about Felicia?" Peter stared intensely at Black Cat. "Unless that was a lie to get me to help you."
