My version of Liz Allen is similar to how she's depicted in Spider-Man: Homecoming while Betty Brant is basically a younger and more daring version of the way she is in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies.
Episode 73: A Little Bad Luck!
"Wait," Felicia said as she suddenly halted. "I think we're being followed."
Peter, MJ, and Thor looked behind. Under Felicia's guidance, they had followed the dirt road from the airport into the town of Eastview using the few houses and buildings around as cover while the sun had fallen behind the eastern mountains bathing the sky in a dusky light. From the shade of a tree next to the house the four were hiding behind emerged two girls. One had short brunette hair, and the other had medium black hair.
"Liz!" Peter exclaimed, looking at the girl with the medium black hair. "Liz Toomes?"
"It's Liz Allen now," the girl with the medium black hair said. "My mother remarried after my father Adrian Toomes went to jail."
"Your dad was the Vulture?" The brunette-haired girl's eyes widened. "I saw your picture in the paper years ago, but I didn't recognize you now that you're older."
"And why do you care so much?" Liz asked, giving the brunette-haired girl an irritated look.
"Oh, I'm Betty Brant, reporter for The Daily Bugle," the brunette-haired girl answered, showing a press badge to Liz.
Folding her arms, Liz said, "Why does the badge have the name Eddie Brock on it?"
"Brock was my work colleague, and he, uh, let me borrow his badge," Betty claimed.
"Then why did he still have his badge on when I met him the other day?" Peter asked.
"Not only that, but if Brock had a partner…where were you when he was taken to the hospital?" MJ chimed.
Just as Betty was about to answer, the sound of jeep engines was heard near the airport.
"Sounds like they've noticed we're gone," Thor said. "We should keep moving."
"Agreed," Felicia nodded. "So let's hold off the questions until we're inside the Anomaly."
Reluctantly, Peter and MJ said nothing as they followed Felicia. Betty and Liz gave each other uncertain looks before following while Thor was close behind them. As the jeeps got closer, Felicia summoned Blaccet to use her Bad Luck ability on the jeeps which caused them to suddenly break down. This allowed Felicia and the others to get past the town up to an encampment near the Anomaly's barrier.
"That must be where SWORD is studying the Anomaly from," Peter guessed.
"Let's enter one of those tents," Felicia suggested. "We might be able to obtain information on the Anomaly before we go in."
"But isn't that stealing?" Liz pointed out.
"I like to call it 'borrowing,'" Felicia justified.
Moving out of sight from the patrolling SWORD guards, Felicia had Blaccet sneak past them to enter the tent furthest from the encampment. Blaccet sniffed around for a moment, then she made a quiet chirping noise to alert Felicia that the tent was safe to enter. So Felicia dashed across the grassy field and crawled under the tent flap with Peter, MJ, Liz, Betty, and Thor following suit. Inside the tent was a series of computer monitors and measuring devices. At a nearby desk sat a young woman with square-framed glasses whose eyes were glued to an old-fashioned TV that had a show playing on it.
"Darcy?" Thor said, recognizing the bespectacled young woman.
The bespectacled Darcy flinched and looked around. "Is that you, Thor?"
"Yes, it's me," Thor responded, and got up from his knelt position in spite of Felicia silently urging him to not do it.
"I heard from Jane that you met up with her again in Vanaheim Forest and fended off a horde of Svartelm and Kurseed that were being controlled by a Dark Elf together," Darcy said, swinging her chair around to face Thor. "Does that mean you've mended your relationship?"
"Kind of," Thor answered. "But what are you doing here?"
"Being a scientific consultant to Director Hayward," Darcy said. "What about you?"
"Just traveling around with some friends I met," replied Thor.
"Are your friends with you now?"
"Will you promise not to alert the SWORD guys outside of our presence?"
"No way!" Darcy looked offended. "I've been through too many things with you and Jane to betray you to some guys I don't even like."
Hearing that, Peter was tempted to stand up but Felicia gripped his arm tightly implying he shouldn't. MJ frowned upon seeing this and took Felicia's hand off Peter's arm. Surprised, Felicia released her hand from MJ's and accidentally hit one of the boxes which fell over. There was stirring from the shadowy part of the tent and a woman with afro-style hair suddenly appeared from the other side of the computer screens with a gun in her hand.
"Hey, Monica," Darcy said to the woman with the afro-style hair. "Did you sleep well?"
"Barely," the woman said in a groggy tone, pointing the gun at Thor. "Who is this, and why was there a gun next to my bed?"
"Um, this is my friend Thor," Darcy said calmly. "He's the Asgardian guy I told you about whom Jane had a serious crush on. I'm not sure how he got in, but the gun was placed next to your bed for my protection according to Hayward."
Monica said nothing in response, as her attention was drawn to the box that had fallen over.
"Was that box always on the floor?" Monica wondered.
"Not that I remember," Darcy replied.
"Then there are more intruders," Monica guessed, stepping around the computers. "Come out from behind those boxes!"
Glaring at each other, MJ and Felicia stood up with their hands in the air while Peter, Betty, and Liz did the same. Seeing all the teens behind the boxes made Monica almost drop her gun.
"How did you all sneak in here without being seen by the guards outside?" Monica demanded.
"A little luck," Felicia said as Blaccet jumped onto the boxes.
Suddenly, Monica's body became distorted for a moment and she doubled over in pain dropping the gun in the process.
To be continued…
