Episode 86: A Tale of Two Vistros!
Above the library in Westview, the red-and-green metallic Marémon Vistro was dodging the laser beams coming from an identical Vistro that was white. Peter, MJ, and Felicia watched from the ground, unsure of whether to intervene or not.
"Maybe that's why Director Hayward claimed Vistro's body," Felicia speculated. "Because he was hoping to recreate Vistro."
"But why would he do that?" MJ wondered.
"Isn't it obvious?" Felicia said. "Compared to other government agencies, SWORD has only recently started being taken seriously by the public. So to show they mean business like SHIELD, they decided to resurrect Vistro to use him as their ultimate weapon. But Wanda stole Vistro's remains before they could complete their version of Vistro, hence the white color pallet."
"Okay, but while we're talking Vistro is fighting for his life," Peter said, pointing at the two Vistros. "We should do something to help!"
"I thought our main priority was to keep Wanda and Agnes — sorry, Agatha — stalled until Monica and the others showed up," MJ pointed out.
"Well, neither of them are here," Felicia said, holding up her PDB. "And I don't want to get on Wanda's bad side if she knew we let Vistro get killed by his white doppelgänger."
"Good point." MJ then pointed her PDB in the air, intending to summon Noirspi. But Hamder appeared instead.
"I thought Hamder only came out when there was food," Felicia remarked.
"Yeah, but I've trained him out of doing that," MJ said. "Now he just likes to swap places with Noirspi's PDB using his Spider-Nonsense ability."
"How annoying," Felicia said as she brought Blaccet out of her PDB. "Luckily, my Blaccet is better trained. Claw Strike!"
Obediantly, Blaccet used her grapple-hooked tail to swing onto the roof of the library where she leaped into the air with her claws drawn. She managed to scratch the white Vistro, but it didn't seem perturbed as it continued attacking Wanda's Vistro.
"Guess your Blaccet wasn't able to get White Vistro's attention," Peter said as Spidermin crawled onto his shoulder. "Maybe we should use Peni's Upgrade Module."
Nodding in agreement, Spidermin leaped into the air while Peter took out the coin-shaped Upgrade Module and pressed it. Spidermin instantly transformed into his Iron Spider form and used his metallic webs to ensnare White Vistro. Yet the webs weren't strong enough to bring down White Vistro, forcing Spidermin to use his extra limbs to grab White Vistro directly. Wanda's Vistro looked confused until Spidermin made a series of chirps which Vistro responded to with his own beeping sounds.
Meanwhile, White Vistro attempted to fly around and shake Spidermin off. But Spidermin held on much to everyone's surprise, spinning more webs to bind White Vistro. Then in a split second, White Vistro's body became transparent causing Spidermin to fall before catching himself on a nearby lamppost.
"Darn!" Peter exclaimed. "I should've figured White Vistro would use Transparent to phase through Spidermin's webs and legs."
"The battle's not over yet," MJ said as she returned Hamder to his PBD. "I've still got Noirspi."
"If you're going to use Noirspi's Twin Revolver, we should combine it with Blaccet's Bad Luck ability to make sure Noirspi's explosive pellets hit White Vistro," Felicia suggested.
"Sounds like that could work," MJ said. "Let's do it! Noirspi, Twin Revolver!"
As Noirspi emerged from his PDB, he used the silken flaps of his coat-like webs to glide on the air. Then once he got within range of White Vistro, Blaccet concentrated on White Vistro from the roof causing him to fly into Noirspi's range of fire. Noirspi didn't waste time and fired the explosive pellets from his limbs which hit White Vistro. But just like Blaccet's Claw Strike, the explosive pellets didn't seem to damage White Vistro that much.
"Were you trying to miss White Vistro's forehead gem?" Felicia said to MJ. "If we destroyed that, White Vistro would be dead already!"
"I don't want to have to kill White Vistro, even if he is hurting Wanda's Vistro," MJ argued. "Hayward programmed him to attack Vistro, so I thought if we could reprogram him by incapacitating him."
Hearing this, Wanda's Vistro suddenly rammed White Vistro through the library's skyline. Peter, MJ, and Felicia called back their Marémon before heading into the library. Instead, they saw Vistro pressing his forehead gemstone against White Vistro's as a yellow light emanated between them.
"I think Wanda's Vistro is using Hack to transfer his data into White Vistro's body," Peter realized. "He's trying to change White Vistro's programming from the inside!"
Felicia and MJ had their PDBs ready while the transfer continued between the two Vistros. Once Wanda's Vistro disconnected with White Vistro, he made several beeping noises to White Vistro. In turn, White Vistro said nothing and flew off. Wanda's Vistro then addressed Spidermin, who nodded and made pantomime gestures to Peter.
"Wanda's Vistro is saying the transfer was complete, and White Vistro is no longer a threat," Peter said to MJ and Felicia.
"But where did it go?" Felicia wondered.
Just then, the doors to the library opened causing Peter and the girls to look back. It was Monica, still in her astronaut suit, with Thor, Betty, Darcy, and Liz standing behind her.
"I saw the commotion with the two Vistros from the air in my Marémon form as we were heading over here," Monica said. "What happened?"
Peter and the girls quickly filled everybody in, before they decided to go looking for Wanda and Agatha together.
"My brother Loki used to mess with my mind when we were kids, but what Wanda did is a whole other level of wrong," Thor said angrily. "She'll pay for what she's done!"
"Though if we're to believe what Monica, Peter, and the others experienced, there might be more going on than we think," Liz pointed out.
"Yeah, I agree," Betty said. "Plus, it'll make for a more interesting story once I report this situation to J. Jonah Jameson."
"Of course, that's assuming SWORD isn't going to try to silence us," Darcy said. "Because they're clearly involved in some shady stuff here."
