Episode 104: Tabirog's Touch!
With great regret, Peter returned Hornetech to his PDB.
"How many Marémon are we summoning for this match?" Peter asked Quill.
"All of them," Quill said with strong determination. "I want to prove how much I've improved since our last battle."
"Then so do I." Taking out another PDB, Peter said, "Rikoshay, go!"
From Peter's second PDB emerged the black and silver bipedal lizard with the gold discs on its forearms that he took in after Rikoshay's original owner Delilah was arrested in La Vie City.
"Return, Starlure!" Quill decided, summoning Starlure back into its PDB. "Let's go, Rocoon!"
Standing in Starlure's place was a bipedal raccoon-like creature with a bunch of weapons strapped to it.
"Don't let his size fool you," Quill warned. "Rocoon is a lot more resourceful and stronger than he looks."
"I know that," Peter said. "Use Exploding Discs, Rikoshay!"
But to Peter's surprise, Rikoshay made no motion to throw the discs.
"Rikoshay, what are you doing?" Peter asked. "I told you to use Exploding Discs!"
Folding his arms, the black and silver lizard just flicked his tongue at Peter.
"Now you know what it's like to deal with unruly Marémon," Quill joked. "Rocoon, Twin Blaster that Rikoshay till it faints!"
Without hesitation, the bipedal raccoon took the two blasters from its pouch-like pockets and fired several energy blasts at Rikoshay. Immediately, Rikoshay dodged these blasts with its Danger Sense ability.
"That's why I told you to use Exploding Discs!" Peter said to Rikoshay. "If you had, Rocoon wouldn't have gotten the chance to attack you."
Rikoshay shrugged and kept dodging Rocoon's blasts. Eventually, Rocoon got annoyed and took off the giant cannon strapped to its back.
"Now you're in for it!" Quill said. "A few blasts from Rocoon's Ion Cannon will put your Rikoshay out of commission."
After Rocoon got the Ion Cannon turned on, it didn't hesitate to fire. The blasts were super powerful and went everywhere, hitting hedge sculptures and grazing school walls.
"Quill, tell your Rocoon to quit firing!" Peter insisted. "We're going to get caught quicker."
"You already have," said a familiar female voice.
Peter turned towards the basketball hoop where MJ and Gwen were standing.
"Hey, MJ, and Gwen," Quill said as he immediately summoned Rocoon back into his PDB. "What are you two ladies doing out here?"
"Looking for you," Gwen said, who was the one that spoke earlier. "My Gwespin saw you guys sneaking out from the web she made above the door to your room and immediately alerted me."
"So I had Noirspi follow you guys while you weren't looking before he put a Spider-Tracer on your shoe and went back to get us," MJ added.
"Really?" Quill looked down at his shoe and found a spider-shaped device attached to it. "Well, what do you know!"
"I'm sorry, MJ," Peter apologized. "Quill was just trying to cheer me up, since I can't seem to get this Synergy Attack thing figured out."
Taken aback by Peter's response, MJ said, "Does that mean you plan to stay here instead of continuing the journey with me?"
Before Peter could answer, the basketball court suddenly started shaking forcing him and Quill to get off it. They hid behind hedge sculptures along with Gwen and MJ while the floor of the basketball court opened up revealing a hidden platform underneath. On this platform was a long black jet that seemed almost invisible against the night sky.
"Oh my," Peter exclaimed. "That's the Blackbird, the X-Men's main mode of transportation!"
"Hey, can you shut up?" Gwen said. "They might have heard you."
Covering his mouth, Peter did as Gwen asked. Yet the black jet took off silently into the sky as if no one onboard heard them. But just as Peter, Gwen, MJ, and Quill got up from their hiding places, the squeaking of wheels caught their attention. They saw Professor Xavier in his wheelchair on the other side of the basketball court with Proffix floating above him.
"Would you care to explain what you were doing out here in my office?" Xavier said sternly.
Not wanting to question him, the four followed Xavier back into the school and inside a large office space with a giant globe and a large desk in front of a tall bookcase.
"You four may be guests, but it doesn't give you the right to break rules at my school," Xavier stated. "Especially you, Mr. Parker, since you're participating in a trial run."
"It was my idea, Professor!" Quill said abruptly before Peter could say anything. "Pete was wearing himself out from trying do a Synergy Attack, so I thought I could take his mind off by challenging him to a Marémon Match."
Xavier raised an eyebrow. "And you didn't ask my permission to have this match in the Danger Room because?"
"I…didn't know I was supposed to," replied Quill. "Sorry!"
"Since you were clearly ignorant, I will let you off with a warning," Xavier said to Quill. "The same goes with the rest of you. Now back to bed."
"Yes, Sir!" Peter, MJ, and Gwen said in unison.
Just as everyone was about to leave the room, a shadow leaped down from the top of the bookshelf and tackled Proffix to the ground. In the desk lamp's light, the shadow turned out to be a bipedal cat with green fur that had its claws set firmly on Proffix who was looking weaker by the minute.
"Good kitty, Tabirog," said a sultry Southern voice. "Now it's your turn, Professor."
From underneath the desk emerged Anna Marie, who removed one of her gloves and touched Xavier on the neck. He flinched for a moment before he passed out.
"What did you do to him, Anna?" Peter demanded.
"Took his power for myself," Anna said, facing Peter and the others. "And that's what Tabirog did with her Copy attack, so she can now use the same powers as Proffix. So now it's off to the Cerebro Helmet for the both of us!"
Holding the side of her head, Anna concentrated firmly on Peter, MJ, Quill, and Gwen. The all suddenly felt tired and collapsed onto the floor including Spidermin.
To be continued…
